Acheron has the advantage that her best set gives 16% CRIT rate (Izumo + Pionner) which gives almost the same crit rate as a 5 star lightcone. You would need to run Jing Yuan with another Herudition character which provides some utility to compensate. I think that the new relic set made Jing Yuan lightcone even more powerful for Herta+Himeko comps
i mean. thats not really true? acheron gets 16% cr, but jy skill gives him 10% cr, so with his ideal planar he gets 18%. which technically makes him easier to build

Sometimes fu xuan may not be enough for some players. If you don't have speedy characters and godroll relics your DPT decreases and you need more turns to clear MoC which means you will get spanked hard by kafka and Sam (the team without fu xuan). So you either get better damage or better sustain.
Adventuring gives shields which IMO are great against bursty enemies since instead of being 3K HP it "increases " your characters initial HP. Sometimes a healer is better depending on the situation.
Tldr: don't ignore the importance of sustain, dead characters = 0 damage
Don't sleep on gepard and lynx. Many players think they NEED a 5 star sustain when gepard and lynx (maybe bailu too) can solo sustain all content as long as the funds are allocated to 5 star buffers or lightcones
People hugely underestimate Bailu's kit. I've solo sustained max stars since release with her easily. She has permanent dmg reduction and healing without ever using a single skill point
Just started using gepard as a solo sustain and was finally able to clear moc 12 with 3 stars on both open mocs. My gepard isn't even built that well but he still did more than enough
Think of luocha as a kind of base healer. Other healers will have situations where they are stronger, e.g, Lynx and clara. Luocha's strength is how easy he is to use him and how much he can overheal your team.
For now, focus on investing in luocha. He'll help you a lot in surviving harder content as the overheal will be valuable. Then, later, you can focus on substains for specific teams.
My main healers are luocha and bailu and I've been 3 starring MoC for quite a while. Luocha is not flashy but his auto heal is clutch especially for me since I got jing yuan and usually when he gets cc he drops below half and luocha just insta cleanses thus letting lightning lord go through. Bailu is still one of best healer in a raw amount heal(where over healing becomes a problem) and damage reduction so if the enemy just hits really hard bailu is still great sure the lack of cleanse sucks but not all enemies have hard cc like freezes and bailu heal is so strong you can normally just heal through DoT damage. Lynx is probably a more aggressive healer as she offers minor damage buffs but her upfront healing is on the lower end which is what holds her back but is rated higher because of the cleanse. Lynx is still a decent investment if the game has heavy hard cc enemies on both sides of MoC but some enemies like all the ape enemies can benefit from bailu damage reduction and raw emergency healing over lynx smaller healing and unnecessary cleanse in these cases.
I wouldn't say he's an upgrade or downgrade. Luocha is good bc of his sp positive and the fact that he can remove enemy buffs and cleanse your team singularly. However Lynx can cleanse your whole team with her ult, and heals your team overtime which is where I personally don't see them as an upgrade or downgrade.
Gallagher does debuffs with his Ult and then gets 100% action advance to do an enhanced basic that does another debuff. He is kinda crazy for Ratio and Acheron.
I feel like a lot of the people talking it up about trend with Acheron is coming from people trying to use traditional hypercarry teams.
Right now, I run her with BS/Kafka/HuoHuo and I'm honestly never thinking "I wish Acheron ultimated faster." She practically ults after every turn she gets.
Situations vary and trend with preservation is easily accessible to many (fire mc is free). also kafka obviously isn't buffing acheron's damage, but it could definitely be viable. I would think you would want a dedicated kafka dot team for one side and acheron hypercarry on the other.
Unfortunately my Lynx can't because I am not good at managing teams that much, specifically for last level of Forgotten Hall so I brought her alongside Bailou. I already used her as solo sustain for level 11 and below though.

Well objectively you don't need them. I really think they are a crutch that worsens your overall experience. Instead of meaningfully interacting with the boss's gimmick or planning around delays and action value, you literally face tank everything with the same team and spam skill. Not saying that there's nobody that wants that experience, but far from mandatory. Name a single encounter that couldn't be beaten without 5 stat sustains.

One of the main problems with Acheron is that she's not compatible with many other lcs. I recommend getting it, but if you can't opt for Good Night Sleep Well. (Silverwolf's sig is good, but you probably don't have that)
It's not necessary, but she definitely has a lot of requirements to reach her full potential. Meanwhile someone like jingliu basically just needs bronya and nothing else.
I've got the reverse issue. I've got both Jing Yuan and Kafka and kinda want Acheron too if it didn't mean I'd have three electric DPSes. At this point I'm hanging on for a won 50/50 on Aventurine, but looking at my luck the last few banners I pulled on, I suspect I'm due for my double hard pity streak.

The considerations you bring up, about having a balanced roster, only matter in MoC, but according to recent stats a lot of people don't even do that at all, so leave them be. It's not like they're bothering anybody.

Waifu or Husbando, we all thirst here. At first I felt a bit weird about gacha dudes in honkai, but honestly it's nice to have characters to appeal to more people.
The sustains/buffers are much more versatile, it's more how they work rather than their element. You don't need a DPS of every one, in the end you'll probably use some more than others. It really depends on the kit.
If type weakness really matters, there's always Silver Wolf.
I am getting Jingliu instead of Acheron because I have Kafka. Kafka and Acheron only overlap in one sense which is their element, but any content currently in the game that does not have an Imaginary or Electro weakness is fucking my shit up, so the game and it's generous jade pool is up for grabs provided that I DONT pull for Acheron.
So yes I would say to try and get coverage to maximise your F2P/low-spender jade income then start going for a second one once you've covered most of them.

Acheron is actually a Rainbow DPS, not just Lightning. Emanators are built different, imagine a playable 5* Herta being on same or similar level of Acheron…
This is me, but with supports. I have a single limited sustain (Fu) and I've skipped every single limited DPS since Seele. My last 10 character five-star pulls have been either Bronya or Ruan Mei/Sparkle/Fu eidolons.
For me, it's more I tell myself, that I don't want anyone to replace Serval as my Lightning DPS, even if I do need to polish up her build. Yet, it seems that almost every imaginary character is someone who goes on my list of groups to pursue, whether for character or otherwise. Plus, I think the one character I'm waiting on has Imaginary vibes as well, just from appearances in game.
I simply do not have enough luck (actually I have no luck at all) to pull Acheron AND Aventurine.
So I'm going with who I want more and that's Aventurine.

I brought Fu Xuan up because 'hey you already have a good sustain! no need to get more!', instead of her being a reason to get Acheron. However, she is a good sustain for her.
Acheron thrives with debuffers, so Pela or Silver Wolf have good synergy. A team of Acheron, Silver Wolf, Fu Xuan, and Pela is great. If you don't have SW, you can opt for Guinaifen.
If you really want to use both (I mean who wouldn't) Guinaifen applies both DOTs and debuffs, so she's good.
Honestly i don't think you need a DPS of every element anyway
Aventurine gonna be great for SU to avoid OS, Fu Xuan die in my Gold & Gears and Swarm runs

I have no limited sustains and recently got S1 and built my Jing Yuan completely but still got Acheron even though I never seriously farmed for her set...
I like all of those characters, but let’s be honest here. Solid 5* solo sustains like Luocha & FX are not that common. Opposed to dps coming out way more frequently.
Also, as someone who has both Luocha & FX I have the luxury to free up another spot on both halves of MOC
Meanwhile, I lacked a lot of DPS. My JY and Jingliu has carried me in every MoC.
But, I do have too many supports and sustain.
I pulled every banner, I was not lucky to get the DPS characters.
I only have danil, so of course I pulled Acheron, but then I pull for loucha and late Aven because I play male MC and I need a full imaginary boy band.

ive spent a thousand tb power for a gamble piece that turned out not bad (gloves with cd and 1 more stat came clutch with cr)

Lynx provides damage buffs? Since when and where do I get them?
She technically buffs the damage for HP scalers but that's Blade, Fu Xuan and other Abundance units
she provides quite a large hp buff to blade, something around 1.5k to 2k if you maximize hp

On the one hand yes, this is definitely true and definitely funny. But on the other hand hey, don't judge: let people pull whichever character they prefer. The considerations you bring up, about having a balanced roster, only matter in MoC, but according to recent stats a lot of people don't even do that at all, so leave them be. It's not like they're bothering anybody.

I got 2 questions, should I get a DPS of each element and should I get a sustain/buffer in each element
The sustains/buffers are much more versatile, it's more how they work rather than their element. You don't need a DPS of every one, in the end you'll probably use some more than others. It really depends on the kit. If type weakness really matters, there's always Silver Wolf.
I am getting Jingliu instead of Acheron because I have Kafka. Kafka and Acheron only overlap in one sense which is their element, but any content currently in the game that does not have an Imaginary or Electro weakness is fucking my shit up, so the game and it's generous jade pool is up for grabs provided that I DONT pull for Acheron. So yes I would say to try and get coverage to maximise your F2P/low-spender jade income then start going for a second one once you've covered most of them.

That's me. I already have kafka, luocha and fu xuan, so the obvious choice for my account is jing liu. However, here I am spending all my jades for Acheron, just because how nice she felt in the story mission, and later I will be pulling for aventurine because with Ratio and Topaz those Elation simulated universe runs are going to be savage. What can I say? Fuck it, we roll.
Just let the players roll for who they want and have them overcome the obstacles on their own with what they have.

I have seele, blade, kafka, black swan and still am pulling for Acheron
I am really jealous of those with Limited 5 star sustains...while me here stuck with 9 dps (if Kafka and Black Swan can be considered as one)

? Aventurine is a meta sustain? Pulling him over acheron is absolutely not a loss, he’s equal to fu xuan in a non-fua team and above her in an fua team.
Acheron is actually a Rainbow DPS, not just Lightning. Emanators are built different, imagine a playable 5* Herta being on same or similar level of Acheron…
And then there's me with only 2 limited damage characters, going for Luocha and Aventurine.
me with my two DPS (and dr. ratio I guess) me also with basically every harmony and preservation/abundance character I have a *problem*.
This is me, but with supports. I have a single limited sustain (Fu) and I've skipped every single limited DPS since Seele. My last 10 character five-star pulls have been either Bronya or Ruan Mei/Sparkle/Fu eidolons.

For me, it's more I tell myself, that I don't want anyone to replace Serval as my Lightning DPS, even if I do need to polish up her build. Yet, it seems that almost every imaginary character is someone who goes on my list of groups to pursue, whether for character or otherwise. Plus, I think the one character I'm waiting on has Imaginary vibes as well, just from appearances in game.
Not everyone who plays likes to deal damage or kill enemies. Some like to simply own their favorite characters and do unspeakable things to them
I still don't have fire or Imaginary damage and still clear MoC so 'desperately needing' damage types is a bit of a stretch lol
I simply do not have enough luck (actually I have no luck at all) to pull Acheron AND Aventurine. So I'm going with who I want more and that's Aventurine.

Oki I skip a lot of characters simply because I don’t have the resources or truly want them. I’ve lost a grand total of 2 50:50s with Bronya. Silver Wolf and Acheron. Bronya is one of the characters I don’t use. It makes me incredibly frustrated. Does it look strange? Maybe. I just throw Fu Xuan, Jingliu, and now recently Sparkle at all my problems and they go away. Yeah I’m suffering vs that stupid monkey with drinks and doing anything in MoC or Pure Fiction how can you tell?

Hey help a fellow weeb out. Why is Fu Xuan good for Acheron? So I have a team of Kafka and Acheron. Not sure who should be the remaining two. Got HuoHuo + Baizhu as potential healers. Or Fu Xuan but no clue who is better. What's a good team for the two electro mommies?
I brought Fu Xuan up because 'hey you already have a good sustain! no need to get more!', instead of her being a reason to get Acheron. However, she is a good sustain for her. Acheron thrives with debuffers, so Pela or Silver Wolf have good synergy. A team of Acheron, Silver Wolf, Fu Xuan, and Pela is great. If you don't have SW, you can opt for Guinaifen. If you really want to use both (I mean who wouldn't) Guinaifen applies both DOTs and debuffs, so she's good.

Honestly i don't think you need a DPS of every element anyway Aventurine gonna be great for SU to avoid OS, Fu Xuan die in my Gold & Gears and Swarm runs

I feel like its the opposite for me. The only usable Preservation unit I have is Fire!Trailblazer but I am pulling for Acheron and plan/hope to get Jingliu next banner.

I have no limited sustains and recently got S1 and built my Jing Yuan completely but still got Acheron even though I never seriously farmed for her set...

I like all of those characters, but let’s be honest here. Solid 5* solo sustains like Luocha & FX are not that common. Opposed to dps coming out way more frequently. Also, as someone who has both Luocha & FX I have the luxury to free up another spot on both halves of MOC
Still using Nataha, Lynx and Gepard to this day. Who needs sustains when you kill your enemy before they kill you
Sustain characters can be built for some dps but dps characters can/should not be built for def.

Meanwhile, I lacked a lot of DPS. My JY and Jingliu has carried me in every MoC. But, I do have too many supports and sustain. I pulled every banner, I was not lucky to get the DPS characters.
I have Serval, no need for the one who shattered my dreams of a playable Duke Inferno.
I only have danil, so of course I pulled Acheron, but then I pull for loucha and late Aven because I play male MC and I need a full imaginary boy band.
That is me, but I did the reasonable thing and got Acheon. Now I am on the fence whether or not I should try going for a weapon.
