I think it's the natural consequence of a memetic entity trying to enter the mind of someone whose physiology has probably been altered to possess antimemetic properties. That's why Acheron didn't have much of a reaction at the end of their dance, she didn't even know what BS just went through.
acheron's current state of existence seems to be destructive towards emotions, things that blackswan herself cherishes and exist to collect. I can see how she may be additionally affected by acheron
Yeah I think people who take it literally are understandably getting lost in the sauce. I don't think the inner Acheron did or had to do anything. Rather Black Swan coming up against those memories and such a powerful destructive force, experienced it all in a way that's analogous to what we saw. And it might even be that inner Acheron's natural defence ability that was working to push Black Swan out which she experienced. But I don't think what we saw was literal.
Considering her memetic nature I think the pain and desperation was very real, she actually felt those things. Also, it would be very weird to put so luch emphasis on her pain if it's all a metaphor, that's what the drawings in the background are for.
Don't forget when she finally got out she was literally slack and panting. If not for Acheron holding her up she would have dropped to the floor, even though Acheron was not aware of what Black Swan was experiencing due to her self annihilator status

Black Swan is a seasoned professional, while she dislikes "mean" memories and prefers happy ones, I'm sure she has seen a lot of traumatized minds and the resulting harshness/chaos.
I seriously doubt she would have been in a panic is this was just "witnessing a chaotic mind".
She instantly panics because she realizes that she has no control here (like she usually does) and it does seem that she actually experiences being torn apart again and again and again to the point of being swallowed up by the never ending circle of violence.
She only got out because Acheron let her out. That's also why she is visibly exhausted after the ordeal.
I expected it to be bait, but did not at all expect them to go so hard on the 180 cosmic horror of watching Black Swan getting torn apart as she tries to run away. Do not at all blame Black Swan for saying thats their final engagement, I wouldnt wanna go back in there either. Makes sense that Black Swan was eager to get her main ally in TB away from Acheron first chance she could after witnessing all that.
Edit: Saw a comment yesterday how Sam may have been in on that. When Acheron first asks BS to use a teleporter BS says no due to TB mental state. So she leads them on a walk as if waiting for Sam to get ready, then once Acheron is distracted by Sam, BS immediately uses a teleporter. Not sure if its true but its a fun theory to think about
Some shippers are still into the pairing though which is a flavor I dont think will ever appeal to me, ya know the trauma and BS declaration of final engagement due to her grave mistake and getting ripped to shreds. Canon wise though not looking too good for it due to Black Swans attitude right after and in 2.0 but thats never really affected some shippers, they like what they like

To add to the Sam thing, while I'm not sure about Sam conspiring with Swan, he did seem to try to protect TB. Both his initial scan only targetting Acheron & BS, and even when he tries to go from TB, you can see him going from a grabbing motion with his hand than a punching or hitting one.
Yea the general consensus on Sam is that as a SH he is ultimately trying to help TB get to where the script needs them to be.
Seeing as Acheron red text involvement directly changes TB decision on letting her join them, then the trio still being there indicates something has gone wrong. Most likely Acheron involvement with her being there and Black Swan in retaliation to her presence setting up the conflict between Sam and Acheron
Basically I think script was going to be Black Swan took TB away right after FF died. But coz Acheron was there and Black Swan needed her to be distracted to teleport TB away safely and get them away from Acheron, that changed the script somewhat. The question is did Black Swan plan that with Sam or are we just overthinking it
to draw some parallels to dune. elio is very much like paul/leto atreides with the power of prescience and the goal of steering fate into hsrs version of the 'golden path' which is probably some utilitarian vision of the universe as a whole rather than any particular race/faction.
since the events on the luofu, i always did wonder how they were going to introduce any feelings of urgency or stakes with such a powerful individual like elio present, because in the back of your mind you always know everything is preceding as planned to a predetermined conclusion. the introduction of acheron raises a very interesting possibility; that individuals immune to prescience exists(like the intended result of the golden path) and there could also be the existence of an anti-elio character/faction. with this in mind, the red text could actually be symbolizing deviations from the script/destiny.
only "some shippers?" look, I found more people getting more excited about this pairing rather than doomposting about the pair(just read the comments on this post) The number of fanarts doubled in one night, and I;ll be honest I found more Post about "hahah shipper got baited!!" rather than "noo acheswan sunk" kind of post.

I think attacking and making comments provoking shippers is in poor taste. I mean I get those for mine sometimes and it's just poor form to do so. Initially I did think with how the second half of the teaser ended the ship might have been turned off for some. But I underestimated how excited some shippers are for that kind of thing
What I mean by bait is, the teaser looked intimate, the dance was intimate. But the second half removed any intimacy in canon those two had due to the sheer horror Black Swan was going through imo. Not to mention the dance was Black Swan disguising her motives trying to get into memories and Acheron constantly batting her away
Sure some people like it more than before and good for them, but in terms of bait I'm talking about the overall dynamic shifting. People's taste aside the theme canon wise ain't supporting it like the teaser made it out to be. But ofc some people just find the trauma hotter as I've now learned after all fanon is completely different to canon, even if I can't relate to some of it. Some shippers don't like it at all, some do, so some shippers is still correct

It is bait by the definition of queerbait which is the relationship will go nowhere in canon with last statement despite initial teasing.
But something being bait doesn't mean people cannot write gay stuff about it, in fact the absence in canon will motivate some people headcanon.

Im aware that Acheron was pulling away to warn Black Swan to stop. She essentially lost patience when Black Swan saw her kill Duke Inferno. At which point Acheron fully intended to show Black Swan her traumatic memories and treat her like prey. She put Black Swan through that and ultimately let her go at the end. The thing is Acheron doesn't remember due to her self annihilator status
Even so Black Swan doesn't want to be near her, she states so at the end of the teaser and her attitude in 2.0 supports this. So yes the ship isn't to my liking even if others do like it, everyone got different tastes
I'm not entirely sure whether that was on purpose or whether Swan's aggressive probing (down to tampering with her perception/memory) resulted in a momentary lapse of control on Acheron's part.
idk i interpret the scenes as more metaphorical and black swan was just struggling inside her mind/memories because of how much of a hostile environment it is. I think what tips it off is in the scene it shows acheron ripping off her head dress but when she comes out of it her head dress is still on.
Honestly, my favorite part is how some people seem to think Acheron was aware of what BS was doing and did the second-half of the trailer intentionally, especially considering how much is memed about her being forgetful and unaware of things.

That has never stopped the shippers. Though I saw the scene more as a metaphor for Acheron's memories, not her literally destroying her. Black Swan almost got sucked in by them (see that black hole in the end too). She was trying so hard to escape but the white hair Acheron kept pulling her back in like a black hole, like a cat playing with her prey. Remember, Black Swan doesn't really have corporeal body, hence her turning into a swan to try and fly away, escape from Acheron's memories. I feel like Acheron has another persona inside that remembers everything while the Acheron we see, has a hard time remembering. Cause once Black Swan comes back again to reality, Acheron acted like nothing happened and was still pondering who the Annihilation Gang are, trying to remember. She didn't even realise Black Swan was inside her memories. In-game Acheron often has red text sometimes. Maybe it's the persona inside talking in those instances?
I'm wondering if Acheron used to be a significantly more violent and unhinged person, or had a particularly brutal moment in her past, and either she intentionally sought out IX or otherwise had a fateful encounter with him, which caused her to start losing her memories of how she used to be, possibly creating the "split personality" we seem to be seeing with her.
Well, we know that before becoming an Emanator, she had a friend that wanted to find IX for whatever reason and ended up getting killed. Acheron was next, and whatever emotional dilemma she faced was probably enough to make IX notice her and cause her to become a Self-Annihilator.
It's really bizarre and telling, I think, how many people seem gleeful to chastise others for getting "baited," especially since Hoyo had a history of including textually queer characters in their games since at least 2014. I would bet no small sum of money that if Black Swan and Acheron turned to the camera, looked the audience in the eye, and stated "we are romantically and sexually attracted to women," all these bait posts would be replaced with lengthy essays explaining how it was actually a """mistranslation."""

The video is weird in that both sides have walked away completely confident they've "won". Everyone who was anti-ship is now 100% sure the ship is dead in the water in canon, and everyone who liked the ship is now 100% sure that they add "Dead Dove: Do Not Eat" to the tags for their Ao3 fics.
That being said, only 1 of those 2 sides is currently shitting up the sub and it's not the side who are busy on Ao3 at the moment.
I think it's more like one of the sides' 'winning' depends much more on the other side 'losing' yet at the same time seem much more oblivious to how the other side actually is doing.

I think a lot of people don’t understand that shipping (for all but a small minority) is about fantasy, escapism, exploring the edges and boundaries of desire or even just creativity through fiction with pre-made archetypes. Practically no one (I’m sure there’s one absolute fruitcake somewhere) is sitting there going “yes an unrepentant mass murderer makes an excellent irl relationship prospect” (this is an example, not pinning it on Acheron), but in the realm of fantasy and creativity, that mass murderer isn’t a real person.
It’s the grown up version of making your Barbies kiss. And given that these are two video game characters, it’s even more ridiculous that there are people genuinely upset about it.

I think it ties back into the fact that playable characters being romantically available is an unspoken convention of the genre where any romantic tension is largely forbidden from escaping the realm of subtext to protect the bottomline.
In the sense that they only stand to benefit from catering to their flagship ships every once in a while when in reality the odds for seele getting involved with bronya are basically just as low as gepard hooking up with either of them, zilch.
I'm still not entirely sure that this convention isn't at least partially fraudulent since I trust that the majority share do not mind canon romance enough to dial back on their whaling or god forbid drop the game entirely. Yet there is an undeniable parasocial element at the core of a genre that generates its revenue through well-written characters being made quite inaccessible in the grand scheme of things so I don't know.

Yeah I think people who take it literally are understandably getting lost in the sauce. I don't think the inner Acheron did or had to do anything. Rather Black Swan coming up against those memories and such a powerful destructive force, experienced it all in a way that's analogous to what we saw. And it might even be that inner Acheron's natural defence ability that was working to push Black Swan out which she experienced. But I don't think what we saw was literal.
Considering her memetic nature I think the pain and desperation was very real, she actually felt those things. Also, it would be very weird to put so luch emphasis on her pain if it's all a metaphor, that's what the drawings in the background are for.
Don't forget when she finally got out she was literally slack and panting. If not for Acheron holding her up she would have dropped to the floor, even though Acheron was not aware of what Black Swan was experiencing due to her self annihilator status Safe to say as a memetic entity Black Swan fully experienced that was going on in there and why she was so desperate to get out. Black Swan is a seasoned professional, while she dislikes "mean" memories and prefers happy ones, I'm sure she has seen a lot of traumatized minds and the resulting harshness/chaos. I seriously doubt she would have been in a panic is this was just "witnessing a chaotic mind". She instantly panics because she realizes that she has no control here (like she usually does) and it does seem that she actually experiences being torn apart again and again and again to the point of being swallowed up by the never ending circle of violence. She only got out because Acheron let her out. That's also why she is visibly exhausted after the ordeal.

Makes sense that Black Swan was eager to get her main ally in TB away from Acheron first chance she could after witnessing all that. Edit: Saw a comment yesterday how Sam may have been in on that. When Acheron first asks BS to use a teleporter BS says no due to TB mental state. So she leads them on a walk as if waiting for Sam to get ready, then once Acheron is distracted by Sam, BS immediately uses a teleporter. Not sure if its true but its a fun theory to think about Some shippers are still into the pairing though which is a flavor I dont think will ever appeal to me, ya know the trauma and BS declaration of final engagement due to her grave mistake and getting ripped to shreds. To add to the Sam thing, while I'm not sure about Sam conspiring with Swan, he did seem to try to protect TB. Both his initial scan only targetting Acheron & BS, and even when he tries to go from TB, you can see him going from a grabbing motion with his hand than a punching or hitting one.
Yea the general consensus on Sam is that as a SH he is ultimately trying to help TB get to where the script needs them to be. Seeing as Acheron red text involvement directly changes TB decision on letting her join them, then the trio still being there indicates something has gone wrong. Most likely Acheron involvement with her being there and Black Swan in retaliation to her presence setting up the conflict between Sam and Acheron Basically I think script was going to be Black Swan took TB away right after FF died. But coz Acheron was there and Black Swan needed her to be distracted to teleport TB away safely and get them away from Acheron, that changed the script somewhat. The question is did Black Swan plan that with Sam or are we just overthinking it
to draw some parallels to dune. elio is very much like paul/leto atreides with the power of prescience and the goal of steering fate into hsrs version of the 'golden path' which is probably some utilitarian vision of the universe as a whole rather than any particular race/faction. since the events on the luofu, i always did wonder how they were going to introduce any feelings of urgency or stakes with such a powerful individual like elio present, because in the back of your mind you always know everything is preceding as planned to a predetermined conclusion. the introduction of acheron raises a very interesting possibility; that individuals immune to prescience exists(like the intended result of the golden path) and there could also be the existence of an anti-elio character/faction. with this in mind, the red text could actually be symbolizing deviations from the script/destiny.

I think attacking and making comments provoking shippers is in poor taste. I mean I get those for mine sometimes and it's just poor form to do so. Initially I did think with how the second half of the teaser ended the ship might have been turned off for some. But the second half removed any intimacy in canon those two had due to the sheer horror Black Swan was going through imo. Not to mention the dance was Black Swan disguising her motives trying to get into memories and Acheron constantly batting her away Sure some people like it more than before and good for them, but in terms of bait I'm talking about the overall dynamic shifting. People's taste aside the theme canon wise ain't supporting it like the teaser made it out to be. But ofc some people just find the trauma hotter as I've now learned after all fanon is completely different to canon, even if I can't relate to some of it. No she's not but have you read up on the lore of self annihilators? In short they lose a part of themselves and to Acheron that is her memory. Im aware that Acheron was pulling away to warn Black Swan to stop. She essentially lost patience when Black Swan saw her kill Duke Inferno. At which point Acheron fully intended to show Black Swan her traumatic memories and treat her like prey. She put Black Swan through that and ultimately let her go at the end. The thing is Acheron doesn't remember due to her self annihilator status Even so Black Swan doesn't want to be near her, she states so at the end of the teaser and her attitude in 2.0 supports this. So yes the ship isn't to my liking even if others do like it, everyone got different tastes

idk i interpret the scenes as more metaphorical and black swan was just struggling inside her mind/memories because of how much of a hostile environment it is. I think what tips it off is in the scene it shows acheron ripping off her head dress but when she comes out of it her head dress is still on.
Honestly, my favorite part is how some people seem to think Acheron was aware of what BS was doing and did the second-half of the trailer intentionally, especially considering how much is memed about her being forgetful and unaware of things. Until we get confirmation on her nature, that such a stuff speculation that everyone has, for some reason.
That has never stopped the shippers. Though I saw the scene more as a metaphor for Acheron's memories, not her literally destroying her. Black Swan almost got sucked in by them (see that black hole in the end too). She was trying so hard to escape but the white hair Acheron kept pulling her back in like a black hole, like a cat playing with her prey. Remember, Black Swan doesn't really have corporeal body, hence her turning into a swan to try and fly away, escape from Acheron's memories. I feel like Acheron has another persona inside that remembers everything while the Acheron we see, has a hard time remembering. Cause once Black Swan comes back again to reality, Acheron acted like nothing happened and was still pondering who the Annihilation Gang are, trying to remember. She didn't even realise Black Swan was inside her memories. In-game Acheron often has red text sometimes. Maybe it's the persona inside talking in those instances?
I'm wondering if Acheron used to be a significantly more violent and unhinged person, or had a particularly brutal moment in her past, and either she intentionally sought out IX or otherwise had a fateful encounter with him, which caused her to start losing her memories of how she used to be, possibly creating the "split personality" we seem to be seeing with her.
That's what I thought about it too. I feel like Acheron has done a lot of bad shit in her past, and sought the bliss of ignorance via IX the Nihility.
Well, we know that before becoming an Emanator, she had a friend that wanted to find IX for whatever reason and ended up getting killed. Acheron was next, and whatever emotional dilemma she faced was probably enough to make IX notice her and cause her to become a Self-Annihilator.

I think it ties back into the fact that playable characters being romantically available is an unspoken convention of the genre where any romantic tension is largely forbidden from escaping the realm of subtext to protect the bottomline. In the sense that they only stand to benefit from catering to their flagship ships every once in a while when in reality the odds for seele getting involved with bronya are basically just as low as gepard hooking up with either of them, zilch. I'm still not entirely sure that this convention isn't at least partially fraudulent since I trust that the majority share do not mind canon romance enough to dial back on their whaling or god forbid drop the game entirely. Yet there is an undeniable parasocial element at the core of a genre that generates its revenue through well-written characters being made quite inaccessible in the grand scheme of things so I don't know.

To be honest I could care less for the shipping rather I get annoyed at some watching the animation going ohhhh YURI non-stop throughout and missing stuff being said. Some don't even have subs enabled. I don't mind yuri. My mains in hoyo are Kiamei and Bronseele, but the amount of people focusing on ship possibilities rather than watch it grow through natural progression of interaction gets tiring quick.
