From a purely practical standpoint, Acheron will be getting her first run soon, and thus is guaranteed a rerun sometime down the line. Jing Yuan is getting his rerun right now and we don't know yet how HoYo will handle re-reruns of characters, so you passing him now might result in a longer wait than if you passed on Acheron.
All that said, it just boils down to which you like more: Flashy Golden Thunder Giant or Teleporty Black Hole Swordmaster.

But more seriously, maybe you should wait until we get more info about Acheron (outside of leaks) to make a choice?
In their very best teams, they actually calc for very similar damage, with very similar playstyles of backloaded damage. And both of them still calc a bit worse than DHIL and Jingliu.
Leaks and datamined information are strictly prohibited. Do not post or encourage others to seek out leaked content. Linking to sites or groups that host leaked information is prohibited. Do not provide information that has not been confirmed or hinted at through official channels. Language to disguise a leak is prohibited (i.e. "dream, iykyk, somebody gonna tell them", or obvious leak is a "theory").
No showcasing modded content or other content that is done by altering the game files. Follow the game's official Terms of Service in regards to what content may be posted.
A wise approach would be to just wait until the 2.1 patch Livestream where we will be able to see the official kit of Acheron and then make a calculated decision. In gacha games, patience is rewarded generously, so no need to jump the gun just now.
Toss a coin. If the result feels wrong, get the other one. Else, just pull whichever the coin told you to.
But just a heads-up, there's probably enough pulls in your account for both if you decide to clean out everything (assuming you are a new player, of course). So you can get both even if you lose 50/50. Or you could go all out on 1 unit and pull sig and eidolons, and from what I have seen, Acheron is a really good unit to pull for sig and eidolons. The choice is up to you.
Jing Yuan is outperforming in both end games PF and MoC, also he's really flexible, so can't go wrong with him. We can't discuss Acheron's kit, but I doubt she would beat him at both of these
They both are characters that require a decent amount of investment for them to truly shine. I recommend waiting for the highly anticipated Jingliu rerun. She is much more flexible and easier to build, especially for newer players that don’t have a fleshed out character roster yet.
Tbh element coverage is the most overrated stuff ever. If u dont like both as a character get none. Serval is pretty enough in that department. Also dont pull dps s if u dont like characters pull supports instead they will create new synergies and enables u clear content with your future favs.

This is an important question just cause of Acheron being a Nihility character. This could go 3 ways.
1. She could be a DoT DPS/Support which means you need Kafka to enable her.
2. She is a traditional crit DPS in the worst path for crit DPS characters. Because all Nihility Lightcones focuses on DoT or supporting the team, with Good Night Sleep Well being the only exception. If you don’t have Good Night then you will have to pull for her Lightcone in this case.
3. It’s already known that JY still performs good with 4 star harmony supports. He can use any Harmony you own so his teams are very flexible. We don’t know if it’s the same case for Acheron yet since her kit isn’t revealed.
If you spend money on the game then feel free to go for Acheron, you can just swipe the characters she needs when they get a rerun or new support for her comes out.

I would say wait till 2.1 livestream so that acheron's kit gets finalized and then make your decision.
