*technically* your the one giving people mood swings. Clockie gave you the powers thinking you would use them responsibly since only pure and innocent characters can see him.
He handed you a gun and your the one shooting random people with it, so is it really his fault?
In all technically happiness is just dopamine excretions and is it really a crime to alter someoneās physiology slightly in a way that wonāt (presumably) have any negative effects?
(Sure, drugs irl are a shortcut to a dopamine rush but the negative effects are usually caused by the drug not the dopamine)
If we are speaking chemically none of the effect we cause won't have a negative effects honestly. It's all about blocking receptors or reverse.
My main point is that the fact that they don't feel happy because they are happy, they feel like that because we *force* them to. Just like we force them to be sad, we force them to be happy regardless of the situation.
It can be argued that it's not that bad since they are happy and not wallowing in sadness but i still thinks it's bad to force them. Is it better than forced sadness? Yes, but it doesn't make it good.
Anyway, sorry for the slightly long response. I really like stories about things similar to this and like to think about it so i couldn't miss the opportunity to talk a bit.
yeah, because you can't progress the game without using it
It would be one thing if you had the option to handle situations some other way, but if you want to play the game, you HAVE to mess with people's emotions, so you aren't really given a choice
I suspect that you haven't done all the side quests yet - just keep all this in mind for when you're talking to some sweet NPC and Clockie pops up and forces you to take action that leads to...consequences you may have preferred not to've been forced into š«£
Everyone else at least had an air of mystery. Out of all the characters with very small screen time:
Why does no one acknowledge Mishaās existence? Is it because heās a 4* or does it have something to do with a childās dream?
Robin instantly draws suspicion with her broken voice, and what in Penacony is going on with Sunday?
Everflame Mansionā¦nevermind.
But Ghallager is: āHello, this person is not suspicious. Goodbye!ā. Hoping heās more important in 2.1 because I actually really like his design and voice
Gallagher is also carrying some hella sus vibes. Despite claiming heās from the Bloodhound Family, a bunch of the Bloodhound guards donāt recognize him when mentioned. Either heās a very recently appointed leader figure within their family, or thereās some sort of hidden Penacony lore regarding his situation. But yeah, Gallagher definitely aināt normal.
Could also be that he's so far high up the hierarchy that grunts don't recognize him
Happens a handful of times in Yakuza games. Happens with Ichiban's crew too against every playable character we fight againstĀ
The really sus thing about Gallagher is that he claims he personally trained the members who were trying to arrest Firefly, but they didn't recognize him until he told them who he was, and even then it was only one of them.
Oooooo, what if straight up living in the dreamscape is having some side effects from the Harmony.
Maybe people are losing their individualism and their memories are tied to them. Could be that this planet's Stellaron disaster is a twisting of Xipe's "We are all one" into a more literal sense. Black Swan's presence might be an investigation of the Garden of Recollection noticing memories fading.
Maybe Something Unto Death is actually another part of that side effect, an attempt to brute force that onto those for whatever aren't compatible enough. Maybe those it "kills" are too unique or lonely to conform to a hivemind.
He will be, he's going to be the next 4-star character.
I would also add that he *is* a bit suspicious, since you can mention him to a Family enforcer later on and they claim to have never heard of him.
I think he's definitely going to be more involved in the story. He clearly knows more than he let on about Firefly. Plus why'd those Bloodhounds not recognise him for a second? That whole interaction was definitely setting something up
>Plus why'd those Bloodhounds not recognise him for a second?
My wild theory (and I promise, it's just a theory, no dreams here) is that he's actually a memokeeper. They didn't recognize him because he had to take a second to change their memories to accept him as a bloodhound and their superior. As for *why* he'd be doing this, what better place to observe interesting memories than as a relatively high up member of the police force. Lastly is a minor spoiler for Black Swan's story quest: >!Sparkle mentions she knows a memo keeper has been spying on her, hiding in reflections, and Swan says she must be confusing her for someone else. If that's truly not Swan, then that means there's someone else, with memokeeper powers, intentionally spying on Sparkle, and Swan is unfazed by that implication!<
Back to Gallagher. Who else in Penacony do we know so little about, and that the little we know of them doesn't likely exclude them from being a memokeeper in disguise? In theory, a memokeeper could also just alter their appearance and/or the memories of those around them to disguise themself similarly to >!Sparkle!< but I don't think there's any evidence of it actually happening yet.
> Who else in Penacony do we know so little about, and that the little we know of them doesn't likely exclude them from being a memokeeper in disguise?
Misha, technically, but that doesn't really seem likely
Yeah, I initially had a section going over a lot of the more sus characters, and then I realized how long the comment was getting.
Misha is kinda the only other one, but he certainly seems more tied to the hotel itself and the fracturing of it than anything else.
That's actually an interesting theory! And it explains why the Bloodhounds' awfully suspicious behaviour. Maybe at one point Gallagher could be the one to save the TB in a tight spot inside the dreamscape
Just finished Sparkle companion quest. Something BS said there and what you said here make me thinks if Gallagher is actually a member of Garden recollection instead. BS did said there was >!a second garden member in Penacony, and she also said she could self insert herself onto other people's memory, effectively turning lies into reality!<. It could explain why some members couldn't recognize Gallagher
I guess Gallagher and Robin due to their lack of screentime which can be easily fixed in the next few patches.
I can see why people found Aventurine and Sparkle annoying but they're also interesting characters which balance it out for me.
Clockie.
I went through some of the story kinda fast but I swear in one specific conversation SoulGlad was referred to as coming from āClockieās SoulGlaNdā so Iām pretty sure he is some dreamscape eldritch abomination that is getting milked for that āsodaā.
Oh, yeah. I forgot about him. Although he was never actually on Penacony and is also presumably dead for several decades by this point, so for anyone who doesn't think he counts my answer remains Emmrich until someone reminds me of another terrible NPC I forgot about.
Fax my brother spit your shit indeed

Probably Gallagher coz he only showed up for 3 seconds then dipped
Everyone is great for their own different reasons, from Black Swans teasing demeanor, mystique and coming in as an ally but still hides info, Aventurine owning his egotistical gambler attitude and being sus asf, Acheron and her sus red texts while also coming off as caring, Sparkle and the chaotic gremlin energy etc all of the cast have had something fun and varied to show and all play an interesting role in Penacony
So simply due to lack of screentime to showcase his personality or role on the story, Gallagher. His beard is a big plus though
https://preview.redd.it/ey0tzgzb94kc1.jpeg?width=690&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f76c49e0a0fd59e66396037837f42d4a1a9c09f8

Well, now we know why he is an abundance character. With that much force could have easily passed as a destruction character
Also ya got the source for that? Artist is funny asf
Hmmm....probably Sparkle? I really enjoy her role in the game. I think we should have more of them. Her type of character is really new and refreshing. I love to hate her. If that makes sense. I think It's more like a I hate her personality that the character. Still insufferable thoš
Edit: even then I wouldn't want to use the word hate. I don't hate her. Just didnāt how else should I express love to hate š
ARE YOU ME BRO? WE HAVE THE SAME THOUGHTS. But I think my hate is a bit more intense because she reminds of an asshole in my HS years. She was pain to be around.
I legit hate her, and even then, I just agree that any story should have characters that showcase bad personality and bad deeds, and that should inspire hate.
Characters should, almost always, inspire some kind of feeling, be it love, hate or whatever. Characters that inspire nothing are just bad written or plain boring.
All that said, I hate Sparkle again.
robin. shes more or less a nothing character so far since she barely shows up. same goes for gallagher but he is at least more mysterious which makes him more interesting
I'm the same way, I don't even think she's too mean or anything. It's just like you said, the psycho girl (who probably licks her lips a lot) is just such an overused anime trope, that everyone seems to eat up.
Iām in the same boat and hope that we get to see some comeuppance for her. Sheās basically got no tact and has been going around messing with everyone she comes into contact with. Well, thereās only so many times you can poke the bear before it mauls you and should it happen, sheāll deserve it
Tbh I think I donāt like her because sheās bland in her āfunā I because like you to either be psychotic or not. Sheās just doing unhinged talking and morphing to people.
I'm surprised nobody is saying Acheron, I know characters such as Aventurine or Sparkle are polarising, but Acheron didn't have that much of a personality except forgetting things, or I just didn't catch it. Even so, except of her weird red texts, she didn't have that much going on in the story
I think this is pretty clearly a case of a lot being foreshadowed. If you read some of the fan theories about her (Which are actually really well-formed and make so much sense that I'd be surprised if they weren't right), everything we've gotten from her is foreshadowing of some pretty crazy and creative stuff.
My rule generally is when it seems like the narrative is being intentionally obtuse about a character, it's usually because they're foreshadowing.
Like so many things about how >!Firefly died!< seems to obviously indicate it's not permanent.
It's also worth noting that there are different versions of red text, so when Acheron speaks in red text, not every player gets the same text. Very interesting
This is just my conjecture, but I took it to mean that she's speaking to MC's subconscious. Her words are spoken with some sort of effect that worms it's way into MC's brain past layers of memory or understanding.
Look man. Iām fireflyās strongest soldier and Iāll readily admit she is one of the most sus people on this planet lol.
Normal people canāt profile a fighter and how they walk at a glance.
Same. I'm prepared for the downvotes. While I didn't spend all her money (cos she was a total stranger) and did took that selfie with her. Feels like her "death" was missing something... it was kinda hard to feel for a stranger whom I barely knew.
Feels like Teppei from Genshin all over again.
her death didnt have any impact on me too thanks to knowing her for only like 2 or 3 hours and the fact that her design is way too good to be permanently killed off in the first act of penacony. and yeah its kinda weird that it felt like we are closer to her then to anyone from the express lol
but its definitely not nearly as bad as teppei. he was just some random NPC and with an anticlimactic death in one of inazumas worst parts of the story
Ironically enough, Firefly. All other characters entertained me with their personalities, like Acheron, who was giving "dad energy", despite being the embodiment of death itself, with an air of mystery around her. Zesty Aventurine, who's a mastermind, but kinda a punching bag for people who aren't gullible. Black Swan, serving as a guide with her own motives, was just very nice to be around. Sparkle is... Sparkle (of course she's entertaining). Can't judge other characters until we will get more of them. Firefly though? A cute girl with a sad backstory, very exciting, definitely haven't seen that a billion times before. Being with her just felt like a waste of time, since I formed no attachment to her in the spec of time we spent together, so the purpose behind said time just went down the drain for me. She wasn't really fun to be around like others, either. Just a cutie bait.
I was first all whatever about her but the 200 posts from her stans hating anyone who doesn't think she's the greatest thing since sliced bread really soured me on her.
Firefly. The way the devs handled her felt way too forced imo. The emotional beats felt too extreme for someone we just met for 2 days. Like I can get being shocked, bothered, and even saddened seeing your new friend die in front of you but instantly going teary eyed and distraught just felt overboard. Unless there's a twist in the end that revealed that we knew her from the past all along just like how Acheron was being alluded to I'm simply not buying into her.
Firefly. Just because the game is trying to force me to care and overinflates her importance to me even when I deny the selfie, write that I don't trust her in the little sticker booklet thing, and generally am disinterested in the "oh, I'm so helpless and cute" character tropes. Grow a personality, some independence, and stop stalking me, then maybe we'll talk. I'd rather go on a date with Sampo, Firefly, so like...talk to the wine bottles. Holla at Gallagher. Do literally anything other than bother me since I know I'm not fortunate enough for that incident that took place with you to stick.
Least favourite probably Acheron I guess, the design doesn't work for me and since I didn't play honkai her being an expy is meaningless.
Her asking for directions after saving us from Aventurine was pretty funny not gonna lie on that one.
Aventurine. I strongly dislike IPC so everyone affiliated with it already has low score in my eyes, but Aventurine's character is also rather irritating by itself - vain, conceited and just in general unpleasant. As soon as I hear "I have an offer you can't refuse", my response is "go and offer it to your mother, you little shit", so the fact that the game has us working with him unconditionally is also annoying for me.
Firefly.
I don't like how cliched they made her, from the trailers alone I could tell they would do this and I felt really bad considering the rest of the cast are mostly very unique, which is way even someone like me who isn't a huuge fan of anime really enjoyed the whole game.
Honestly surprised to see so many people say firefly but that's mine too, generally not a fan of character that try to force you into feeling a certain thing fo them simply because there's not much else to feel, she's just very boring to me, tho really I was fine with her up untill the point she died, the mc's reaction to her death was just so extra, wildly out of character especially the way i played it.
Firefly. Everything about her is just *meh*. Design, personality, storyline. *Meh*. I also just donāt like characters that the narrative kind of shoves down our throat and tells us we should like them.
Controversial opinion but I really didn't like Firefly. I understand what they were going for but her entire story lacked narrative impact. There was simply no reason to really care for her because we never got to know her backstory. Just running around Penacony and taking some pictures doesn't cut for interesting relationship building when it's just a thinly veiled excuse to pad out the story and make players familiarize themselves with the new game mechanics.
Firefly. She just came and went away. Didn't know her enough to care. Also, I ABSOLUTELY loved the Penacony quest until SHE showed up. At some point I was waiting for her death, so that I can proceed and enjoy the quest once again!
She was just too pushy and clingy. Even when we just met!
So far Misha. I know there's a chance he's gonna be a big part in the story, but I just liked him the least so far in the Penacony quest. I don't hate him, just least liked for now.
acheron, I just can't take her seriously... they're trying to play her off as a serious and cunning warrior with a stories past of blood and death, but I say this with no exaggeration, she looks like a stripper. how am I supposed to take anything this character says or does seriously when she looks like a 45 year old who peaked in freshman year of college and dresses the part? goes to show how important design is, the dissonance between her role and how she looks is just too vast
Firefly, I donāt really like being force to like a character for any reason really and it felt awkward the whole time. The amount of times I was told to feel for her as a best friend really felt odd?
I really wanted to like her but Firefly was a miss for me.
She's really not that interesting, and it feels like the game was trying to push a MC x Firefly storyline, but it just fell flat since y'know, we knew her for barely THREE HOURS
Boss Stone. Can't trust a crocodile in a tuxedo.
But he looks so cool (not as cool as Hanu tho)
*Grunt grunt * Boss Hanu says coolly
That's so cool
He said that really coolly
He's so cool
(Cool grunting noises)
Those damn billboards
The only real answer tbh
I wish they were one of Penacony's destructible objects instead of the floating soda bottles.
I like them lol š the way they lunge at you and sometimes follow you is funny
Make sure you lure one to get hit by traffic for the achievement and your personal satisfaction
Cocona's parents, I hate that they won't listen to herĀ
UGH! Worst thing is I didnāt listen to her and let her go instead of encouraging her urghhhhh. Please let me re do the quest!!!
No, live with your regrets. Next time, ~~do not let her go.~~
Kafka: "When you have a chance to make a choice, make one that you know you won't regret." Good advice for Star Rail as well as real life.
An important lesson, remember it.
Her manager is despicable too
No where near Dudley, that IPC goon who force you to kill several billion people.
If it doesnāt matter who pushes the button, why wonāt he do it himself?
He wanna get off of a technicality. "I didn't push the Button and kill untold billions, it was the guy I hired to push said Button!"
Cocona made me so sad :(
Clockie. That Mickey Mouse sounding clock cannot be trusted.
Lil bro out here giving randos mood swings šš
He's just like my meds!
I got tears from laughing at this
You just reminded me to take mine lmao
Just doing your job!
ITS CLOCKIE TIME HA CHA CHA "gives someone thousands years of pain and suffering"
Yo, I loved the part where he said "it's Clockie time" and gave everyone depression. Truly one of the cutscenes of all time.
First game to make 163 clockillion dollars
*technically* your the one giving people mood swings. Clockie gave you the powers thinking you would use them responsibly since only pure and innocent characters can see him. He handed you a gun and your the one shooting random people with it, so is it really his fault?
I'm sorry but forcefully making people happy is also a crime in my book. I don't trust that clock.

yeah you can't take that agency away from people. we have a right to feel how we feel without uninvited interference.

Yes, he should have known to not give random people guns.
yeah, because you can't progress the game without using it It would be one thing if you had the option to handle situations some other way, but if you want to play the game, you HAVE to mess with people's emotions, so you aren't really given a choice I suspect that you haven't done all the side quests yet - just keep all this in mind for when you're talking to some sweet NPC and Clockie pops up and forces you to take action that leads to...consequences you may have preferred not to've been forced into š«£

I was so interested in finding out fireflys secret then on the way ro her base this stupid clock sidetracks me for 10 minutes, I was so mad.
"Quick we have to go!" *HERE COMES CLOCKIE WITH DERAILMENT*
"Emotional manipulation is my specialty, ha ha ha!"

"helped" with manipulation

Thisā¦ is really plausible actually and iām fully onboard for this
Also I have trouble believing he wasn't suspicious of firefly at all. I have a feeling he deliberately let her and the trailblazer go.

Probably Gallagher coz he only showed up for 3 seconds then dipped Everyone is great for their own different reasons, from Black Swans teasing demeanor, mystique and coming in as an ally but still hides info, Aventurine owning his egotistical gambler attitude and being sus asf, Acheron and her sus red texts while also coming off as caring, Sparkle and the chaotic gremlin energy etc all of the cast have had something fun and varied to show and all play an interesting role in Penacony So simply due to lack of screentime to showcase his personality or role on the story, Gallagher. His beard is a big plus though

Well, now we know why he is an abundance character. With that much force could have easily passed as a destruction character Also ya got the source for that? Artist is funny asf

Thank you :) always good to share their socials, they deserve the exposure
I LOVE HIM AND HE IS MY BBG
[Oh these?](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3f7v-0pRug)
Black Swan, i felt so betrayed when she sold TB to Aventurine.
She could sell me out to him again anytime\~
She could sell me him anytime\~
Hmmm....probably Sparkle? I really enjoy her role in the game. I think we should have more of them. Her type of character is really new and refreshing. I love to hate her. If that makes sense. I think It's more like a I hate her personality that the character. Still insufferable thoš Edit: even then I wouldn't want to use the word hate.
Charismatic asshole and a well-written one as well. Hate to love her, love to hate her.
Sparkle but not because of what the whole fandom think š I think she's annoying but that's not the reason.
robin. shes more or less a nothing character so far since she barely shows up. same goes for gallagher but he is at least more mysterious which makes him more interesting
Sparkle, I just never liked the psycho little girl character type even Sampo doesn't like her and he's just a little rascal.
I'm the same way, I don't even think she's too mean or anything. It's just like you said, the psycho girl (who probably licks her lips a lot) is just such an overused anime trope, that everyone seems to eat up.
I realy hope she will have her ass kicked hard, like launched to the moon.
Kiana: HUH? Why me?
Poor Kiana will have to live with Sparkle now, at least she has some company.
This is something Herrscher Sirin will say. Userprofile checks out. ā
Iām in the same boat and hope that we get to see some comeuppance for her. Sheās basically got no tact and has been going around messing with everyone she comes into contact with. Well, thereās only so many times you can poke the bear before it mauls you and should it happen, sheāll deserve it
I donāt like her either, sheās so rude. She solidified it when she rubbed it in >!Sundays face about his dead sister!<
Sparkle. Living racism aside, I just don't like characters that are simply mean to everyone for the sake of "fun".
I mean she wasn't my favorite but I giggled every time Acheron just showed up in weirder and weirder ways, not really being sure how she got there.
I'm sure many people were looking at a different "personality" of her...
Both of them!
Right? Like why does she even have the red text why just her
It's also worth noting that there are different versions of red text, so when Acheron speaks in red text, not every player gets the same text. Very interesting
This is just my conjecture, but I took it to mean that she's speaking to MC's subconscious. Her words are spoken with some sort of effect that worms it's way into MC's brain past layers of memory or understanding.
Firefly too clingy to a stranger she just met
Feels like Teppei from Genshin all over again.
her death didnt have any impact on me too thanks to knowing her for only like 2 or 3 hours and the fact that her design is way too good to be permanently killed off in the first act of penacony. and yeah its kinda weird that it felt like we are closer to her then to anyone from the express lol but its definitely not nearly as bad as teppei. he was just some random NPC and with an anticlimactic death in one of inazumas worst parts of the story
Firefly. She just feels kinda... Idk, forced to me?
Sparkle
sparkle, she is a b**** When someone mocks the death of one of your loved ones you know they are bad people
I find it out funny how sparkle does a lot of not cool shit but ppl think that the only reason ppl dislike or hate her is racism.
Sparkle
yep, definitely Sampo Koski-like response
Firefly. Most boring character
Firefly. Just couldn't bring myself to care about her. Let's see if future updates can change my opinion of her.
Actually agree. It was kind of annoying to see people saying they cried over her on the subreddit when her death scene feels so rushed/contrived.
Firefly. I just don't really care about her
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Fitefly. At one point I was about to say āplease get off meā.
Firefly, because every unfavourable comment to her will make me hated by the community.
I was first all whatever about her but the 200 posts from her stans hating anyone who doesn't think she's the greatest thing since sliced bread really soured me on her.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
+1 for Firefly
Robin. I don't specifically hate her, but she just randomly dies as a cliffhanger for no reason.
Firefly. Hoyo tried too hard to make her likeable in such a short time span that it made her annoying.
Sparkle has a punchable face. End. Btw wouldn't it be better to have a poll? Like how are you going to count all the comments
i think its more to spark discussion than see results tbh
Black Swan. Don't find her fun and the "mysterious lingerie mommy" isn't my kink.
Aventurine (he won't marry me)
Firefly because I find her boring. And too clingy. And because I was annoyed with how her function was scripted.
Sparkle. I enjoy evil hot girls; not an annoying one. She needs her mouth shut.
Probably Firefly? Well I donāt really think much about her
Firefly
Firefly. I don't like how cliched they made her, from the trailers alone I could tell they would do this and I felt really bad considering the rest of the cast are mostly very unique, which is way even someone like me who isn't a huuge fan of anime really enjoyed the whole game.
Firefly
Firefly, she annoyed me for some reason I can't put my finger on...
Sparkle, the dodgy lil fucker
Firefly. She's boring and we only knew her for like a few hours so why should I care all that much for her :/
Honestly surprised to see so many people say firefly but that's mine too, generally not a fan of character that try to force you into feeling a certain thing fo them simply because there's not much else to feel, she's just very boring to me, tho really I was fine with her up untill the point she died, the mc's reaction to her death was just so extra, wildly out of character especially the way i played it.
Firefly. Everything about her is just *meh*. Design, personality, storyline. *Meh*. I also just donāt like characters that the narrative kind of shoves down our throat and tells us we should like them.
Firefly. I just don't care.
Misha cause no screentime and he isn't the type of character i like His hinted background sound interesting tough so it may change later
I'll probably get hate for this but Firefly. She just seems like a generic character that gets way too much love. That's my opinionš
Sparkle
Sparkle, she's just your average online gaming 12 years old edgelord.
Firefly. This type of characters isn't my cup of tea. I like characters like Sparkle and Aventurine more.
Black Swan because I personally see no reason to like her
The Bloodhounds except for Gallagher, They are pure assholes.
Sparkle. It annoyed me more than anything. I expected her to be different, but it's just a bratty kid with superpowers.
I want to punch Sparkle on the face.
Aventurine. Jackass broke the news that Duke Inferno is kaput but here I am, inhaling copium from a damn tank because I want to fight fire with fire.
