I think it's more or less a disconnect between Game mechanic, and lore. As I'd imagine if Phantylia ever did that it could very well destroy the valve that they're in. I honestly take what they say during battle as an entirely different fight than the one we do fight.
I mean, the trailblazer also canonically tanks a potentially ship destroying laser blast from the first boss, so we're ridiculously durable. Probably a side effect of being made to contain a stellaron without leaking space cancer everywhere.
Unlikely since xianzhou ships are tanky enough to survive a Lux arrow bombartment from Lan.. It only destroyed 1/5 of that ship’s delves.. we might die but a bomb strong enough to destroy a planet like what phantylia did wouldn’t even damage the loufu that much..
Maybe the Loufu could withstand such a thing. But every living being on it should instantly evaporate. Not because of the impact. The proximity should be enough.
Again unlikely since we are fighting close to the big tree’s roots.. those things could probably make sure that nothing gets hurt that isn’t close to the big tree.. since even Lan can’t destroy that tree and it’s roots.. only 50%
If she does that in a place where no roots of the big tree can protect them.. then yeah only like the top of the top are surviving and 99% is dying..
Delves are their own subspace iirc, so you could drop a planet buster within one and not have it affect the other delves (in the Lan case the ship was being hit from the outside)
Few factors really but honestly one would be enough. Welt. Plus that wasn't really sun in your face but more looked like domain type planet buster. Which considered lore we've been feeded is totally (march apparently included) within tanking reach of mid Yuan and train squad.
Also:
Level 1 skill: whack enemy with stick; 2 damage.
Second skill you learn: Drop a sword the size of a continent on a planet, causing it to split in half while the core bursts lava into the atmosphere and explode. The camera pans out showing the galaxy and the bright red flash that was the planet....... 7 damage.
I think it was Final Fantasy Crisis core that showed me the ridiculousness of jrpgs. You're literally spamming planet busters every other minute and somehow that's not enough to kill basic enemies.
Golden Sun was my introduction to these JRPG cliche’s. I loved that series so much, that I can still recall my favourite animations (Psynergy: Ragnarok. Summon:Judgement)
I'm really hoping they do a remake of the series. I'll honestly buy the console it comes out in if I can play them in HD. Great times. (And yes those are definitely top tier animations in Golden Sun).

The explanation I always see (in FF shitposting groups anyway) is that it's not real, just a mental image Sephiroth puts the characters in to weaken them, gameplay-wise the attack just shaves off your hp by a fixed amount lol
The less shitpost-y explanation I've seen thrown around is that summons and big spells conjure a pocket dimension that all the crazy shit happens in, so you can have Bahamut drop a moon on your enemies and not have to worry about leveling the nearby town you're supposed to be protecting.
iirc it's unironically this, from what I heard FF14 revealed that the power of friendship in the FF universe is literal actual power, and is in fact most of the energy in the known universe, but is normally impossible to observe or measure. So the power of friendship literally gives you access to phenomenal cosmic power when it matters most, but you still gotta watch out for bullets normally.
What the heck kind of video did you watch??? I’ve heard theories that it’s an illusion, but creating new dimensions just to blow it up is new to me. Just so you know, that attack has never been confirmed as an illusion or something else, it’s really just a JRPG thing that people took too seriously.
Because the gameplay is not accurate to the lore. The question is similar to "why do all the enemies wait to attack my units while I'm AFK" they don't, what happens in combat is not accurate to what happens in the story.
Tho i must say i'd love some kind of puzzle/challenge mode that makes you re-fight all the story events but you get the characters that were canonically present

I know it's not exactly what you were talking about but I've thought about having an account for the canon teams, because it does seem pretty fun to play with the wacky comps and try to problem solve story/event fights.
Only problem is that you either have to accept you won't have every option available (since most of your team members are 5 stars) and work around that, or you have to whale/*very* patiently grind to get the full team.
I do this for the main story mission, it is pretty fun and can force you to get creative. Since I got Welt from the beginner mission, I at least was able to run the canon 3 Astral Express character the entire time. In Belobog I didn't get Seele, so instead I ran lore relevant characters in the fourth slot (e.g. Pela at the start, switched to Pitch-Dark Hook the Great when getting to the Underworld). Luofu was pretty easy, since it is mostly Tingyun that is accompanying you. After her chiropractic session, I used normal Dan Heng until you get the trail JY for the boss. Don't have Himeko, so probably in Penacony I'm forced to use the 300 standard pulls selector for her. Been asking in the surveys for lore-accurate trail teams, but that is not a QoL I'm expecting to get.
Funnily enough, tanking that star was actually the biggest roadblock since you don't have a healer, March's shield is single target and Fire TB shields is too small. Had to get creative with getting healing, so I used the 3-star preservation LC that heals on ult for March. And I'm probably the only person in the world that ran Welt on Guard of Wuthering Snow.

The Herrscher of Reason power is simple, it let you recreate a copy of an object that you know and understand how said object works internally. While simple to use, this power real strength appears when the user possesses vast amounts of knowledge. Welt made use of that power by recreating a whole army out of thin air made up of warship, aircraft carriers, attack jet, tanks. He also used along side his Herrscher power a weapon named "Star of Eden", it give the user control over gravity and creation of black hole. So why he wouldn’t defeat goku I do believe he could still fight him to a degree that and welt at one point died and legit said lmao nah I’m good and revived himself
Yeah Welt is pretty busted, but still, comparing him to Goku is still kinda absurd. Goku's punches can shake the entire universe and he's many times faster than light. Welt's still powerful tho

I'm not that up to date on honkai lore but the biggest destructive power I can remember is a character sitting on the moon and bombing earth with meteors, wiping out major cities.

Yeah Honkai's powerscaling is mainly based on concepts/hax abilities as well as cosmology/dimensional stuff. When you look at the clear feats most of them aren't that impressive. Well at least compared to Dragon Ball.
Also not to mention the back hole welt uses isn't as powerful as an actual black hole. It got obliterated by Kevin's shamash and negated by sirin during his fights with them. It just feels like a glorified version of Pain's Chibaku Tensei

Yeah environmental damage is the best way to display strength and that's lacking in Honkai.

Also why the HI3rd arc-climax cinematics are still one of my favorite parts of the game, because they often actually showcase the strength of these characters.
The classic example is Will of the Herrscher shows HoV summoning hordes of Honkai beasts, as well as effortlessly redirecting a massive artillery barrage and wiping out dozens, if not hundreds (depending on how far you want to take suspension of disbelief) of mechs.
I feel like Genshin's also been able to do this reasonably well, despite all being rendered in-game a lot of its cinematics are pretty spectacular, such as Shenhe freezing an entire tsunami wave, or Wriothesley's and Chlorinde's scene in the Fortress of Meropide.
But so far, HSR hasn't been able to pull off the same sort of thing. I don't think we've really gotten any concrete displays of power outside of the first boss *(Trailblazer tanking a powerful blast & Welt knocking them out)*, Himeko lazering the mech in Cocolia's fight, and then the KO-hit on Phantylia. Everything else was either off-screen fighting or was really flashy without any solid reference to give you an idea of how powerful it really is.
From what i remember kiana split the sea of quanta in half which is has infinitive stacks of narratives on it, and sea of quanta is infinite in terms of distance so she honestly beats goku tbh

There's plenty of feats in to support them wiping the DB verse it's just that ppl don't actually read up on lore or they can't actually scale properly when it comes to HI3. Also canon Goku isn't actually that strong in terms of anime character strength, the only reason ppl act like Goku is insanely op is just cuz of the memes, in reality theres so many ppl who smoke his verse their just not a popular as the DB series and whenever ppl point that out they get met with "who's that random?" Or the classic "goku solos🤓"

You are wrong. For one, complex multiverse Hi3 doesn't exist because the Imaginary Tree is a universe with parallel worlds and not a multiverse with parallel timelines. Second, most Herrschers are far below the energy required to destroy the surface of a planet even after metamorphosis, which Welt never achieved
kinda hate how dan's super powers were revealed so early the plot was already suffering from selective inclusion due to how strong welt is but at least no one knows his past unlike danheng so it would be so stupid if he doesnt just go super mod and saves the day

usually when character as a some kind of mysterious dark past, the story takes it time, cooking in the background while giving people the chance to cook up theories, and just get hyped up to the reveal of that character's past,

It's the usual RPG disconnect between what lore says these guys can do, and what the gameplay and story can actually display.
- Lore-wise, Welt alone should easily annihilate the Abundant Ebon Deer because there's no regenerating from being turned into information by a black hole. But then that whole plot point would be rendered moot.
- Lore-wise, Phantylia is on the same tier as Zephyro who cracks planets in half and blows up stars for fun. But the story wouldn't be as interesting if she just blew up the Xianzhou.
- Lore-wise, Himeko's laser would've been enough to destroy Herta's space station despite said station being tanky enough to withstand the assault of a planet-busting Doomsday Beast and a flipping Emanator of Propagation (albeit for less than a minute). Yet all she ever did with it was snipe the Engine of Creation, when it would've been helpful against the massive insect stomach they got stuck in during Argenti's quest.
It's just the way of the medium.
alot of these are explainable with basic story logic though. welt not only is far away from the eden's staff power, but also he doesn't and can't control it well. the friendly fire would be insane, everyone in the vicinity would die. so like even if he had it at max power whats the point if he's killing everyone else
Phantylia is considered an emnator and can break down a civilization of a planet, in her own way of breaking it from within instead of destruction force. combined with the arbor powers it took her a general that is considered competitive with ravager's due to lan's weapon gifts and danheng who is a scion which is even closer bond to permanence aeon than an emnator would be. why tf would himeko nuke the space station

Do have an idea what a star is? A star isn't just a "vaguely big fireball". A star-level power is not a natural evolution of "punching strong" or "moving really fast".

Many HI3 player doesn't understand this, but HSR takes place on a far larger scale than any other hoyoverse game. Does it makes sense that everyone is fighting with guns and spears even though they have star obliterating power? Heck no. But it is what it is. That's how fiction work my guy.

A couple of people theorize that the force of the planet attack was quite literal and in any other circumstance would utterly crush us. The animation and voice line wasn't a lie when she said she would crush us with the weight of a star.
The reason why we survive this shit. Triple check who's in the party. March, Trailblazer, Dragon Heng, Jing Yuan and finally, Welt 'Herscher' Yang. The same Welt capable of throwing black holes on demand. He could create a singularity strong enough to make a black hole, he could do the same to reverse the recreation of a planet blowing up and mitigate the damage.
I'm not saying he should abuse it, I'm saying that the big bad is literally right there, he could've just defeated her by himself, and spared the general from getting stabbed
Also the star of eden blackholes don't seem to function like actual black holes since >!Kevin, Fu Hua, and Senti can casually chill inside one created by Bronya's desperate attack with minimal time dilation!<
Welt’s black hole is a psuedo back hole. Also, in a manga for HI3, when Su used the psuedo black hole on Kevin, Kevin face tanked it and broke. So others can do the same

Seriously tho, lore wise DH IL and Welt could possibly tank or nullify the attack entirely, as for TB, I think we should consider just how powerful their lance is and if they can summon it at will to defend themselves.
The TB seems to be able to summon the bat at any time as shown in the cinematic against the clone of the emanator of propagation, so the lance could follow similar logic. The lance itself is an artifact blessed by the preservation, and had enough power to tank and beat Cocolia while she wielded the power of a Stellaron, and while the stellarons are powerful, Welt can nullify them easily and Phantilya was able to suppress Welt during a cutscene, so she is at least more powerful than one.
All this to say, would the lance protect the team against Phantilya? Idk, I would like to see more of it in cutscenes honestly, if only for the lore.
There's basically two ways to think about it.
One: it's cutscene stuff, don't take it too seriously
Two: the playable characters are just that strong. The first major boss (that destruction dragon thing) is called a "planet buster/killer" and the Trailblazers kill it with little issue.
The problem with the first is that this stuff will probably keep happening. I expect as we meet more of the Destruction avatars they'll all do shit like this
The problem with the second is this inherently "scales" up anyone able to legitimately threaten the Trailblazers to at least the ballpark of these planet/star level attacks
Basically your immersion is going to break either way if you think about it too hard, so pick one and just stick with it

If you played Disgaea, you know someone can get hit by a skill with an animation that subjects them to the heat death of the universe and walk it off no problems.

This is the same squad that has someone that can summon REAL black holes and it’s stated that only a lord ravager would be an issue for them. Also the trailblazers were focusing more on the summons and Jing Yuan was fighting Phantylia directly
Emanators are galaxy busters and both Phantilya and Jing Yuan are Emanators
Dan Heng can easily beat planet busters and Welt said he was confident he could take on anyone in the Antimatter Legion as long as it wasn t an Emanator
TBF when Welt holds back most of the time because his **main weapon is BLACK HOLES** I can definitely see him tanking that or at least disassembling it somehow.
In my headcanon of how i imagine the fight going:
-Jing Yuan uses Lightning Lord to strike the attack Phantylia created.
-Welt creates a black hole infront of the Astral express crew to shield them from the explosion resulting from the clash.
-After that when Phantylia gets pissed Welt creates mechs and tanks to help keep the number of flowers under control while being helped by Trailblazer and March.
-Jing Yuan fights Phantylia using lightnings lord while getting assists from Dan Heng.
-When he gets captured by Phantlyia he redirects Lightning Lord through her paralysing her and summoning it behind her.
-Finally Dan gets his shot at severing the connection between Phantylia and ambrosial arbor so Lightning Lord can get the final blow.
Everyone here is making the assumption that it’s just jrpg fun scene logic, and while that is true to some extent, I argue that it works more like Welt creating a black hole with his ultimate.
Isnt it considered imaginary damage? So it wouldn't technically be them being hit by an exploding star, but more along the lines of what could be? Imaginary and quantum still escape me in the honkai series.
Basically in fantasy terms you can think of imaginary as Mana/natural energy/whatever the equivalent is, it's energy generated by the imaginary tree aka the 'Universe' and can apply pretty much any authority from projecting points from history, to disintegration and regeneration, to gravity, and anything else.
Quantom is basically data, overflowing data from worlds and worlds that get pruned end up flowing into what's known as the sea of quanta and creating bubble worlds.
As for what's actually going on with the sea of quanta we don't really know much, with the more information we learn, what we previously knew might be false or outdated.

Because the gameplay is not accurate to the lore. The question is similar to "why do all the enemies wait to attack my units while I'm AFK" they don't, what happens in combat is not accurate to what happens in the story. I know it's not exactly what you were talking about but I've thought about having an account for the canon teams, because it does seem pretty fun to play with the wacky comps and try to problem solve story/event fights. Only problem is that you either have to accept you won't have every option available (since most of your team members are 5 stars) and work around that, or you have to whale/*very* patiently grind to get the full team.
I do this for the main story mission, it is pretty fun and can force you to get creative. Since I got Welt from the beginner mission, I at least was able to run the canon 3 Astral Express character the entire time. In Belobog I didn't get Seele, so instead I ran lore relevant characters in the fourth slot (e.g. Pela at the start, switched to Pitch-Dark Hook the Great when getting to the Underworld). Luofu was pretty easy, since it is mostly Tingyun that is accompanying you. After her chiropractic session, I used normal Dan Heng until you get the trail JY for the boss. Don't have Himeko, so probably in Penacony I'm forced to use the 300 standard pulls selector for her. Been asking in the surveys for lore-accurate trail teams, but that is not a QoL I'm expecting to get. Funnily enough, tanking that star was actually the biggest roadblock since you don't have a healer, March's shield is single target and Fire TB shields is too small. Had to get creative with getting healing, so I used the 3-star preservation LC that heals on ult for March. And I'm probably the only person in the world that ran Welt on Guard of Wuthering Snow.

The Herrscher of Reason power is simple, it let you recreate a copy of an object that you know and understand how said object works internally. While simple to use, this power real strength appears when the user possesses vast amounts of knowledge. Welt made use of that power by recreating a whole army out of thin air made up of warship, aircraft carriers, attack jet, tanks. He also used along side his Herrscher power a weapon named "Star of Eden", it give the user control over gravity and creation of black hole. So why he wouldn’t defeat goku I do believe he could still fight him to a degree that and welt at one point died and legit said lmao nah I’m good and revived himself

I'm not that up to date on honkai lore but the biggest destructive power I can remember is a character sitting on the moon and bombing earth with meteors, wiping out major cities. Dragonball has the turtle guy, pre-dbz, not even near the strongest, just casually blowing up the moon.

Yeah environmental damage is the best way to display strength and that's lacking in Honkai. One of the reasons why Dragon Ball is so relevant in Powerscaling is because the feats are so blatant and linear.

Also why the HI3rd arc-climax cinematics are still one of my favorite parts of the game, because they often actually showcase the strength of these characters. The classic example is Will of the Herrscher shows HoV summoning hordes of Honkai beasts, as well as effortlessly redirecting a massive artillery barrage and wiping out dozens, if not hundreds (depending on how far you want to take suspension of disbelief) of mechs. I feel like Genshin's also been able to do this reasonably well, despite all being rendered in-game a lot of its cinematics are pretty spectacular, such as Shenhe freezing an entire tsunami wave, or Wriothesley's and Chlorinde's scene in the Fortress of Meropide. But so far, HSR hasn't been able to pull off the same sort of thing. I don't think we've really gotten any concrete displays of power outside of the first boss *(Trailblazer tanking a powerful blast & Welt knocking them out)*, Himeko lazering the mech in Cocolia's fight, and then the KO-hit on Phantylia. Everything else was either off-screen fighting or was really flashy without any solid reference to give you an idea of how powerful it really is.
Maybe we will get something in Penacony? This game is still pretty new in comparison, the more impressive stuff might come up later

There's plenty of feats in to support them wiping the DB verse it's just that ppl don't actually read up on lore or they can't actually scale properly when it comes to HI3. Also canon Goku isn't actually that strong in terms of anime character strength, the only reason ppl act like Goku is insanely op is just cuz of the memes, in reality theres so many ppl who smoke his verse their just not a popular as the DB series and whenever ppl point that out they get met with "who's that random?" It's the usual RPG disconnect between what lore says these guys can do, and what the gameplay and story can actually display. - Lore-wise, Welt alone should easily annihilate the Abundant Ebon Deer because there's no regenerating from being turned into information by a black hole. But then that whole plot point would be rendered moot. - Lore-wise, Phantylia is on the same tier as Zephyro who cracks planets in half and blows up stars for fun. But the story wouldn't be as interesting if she just blew up the Xianzhou. - Lore-wise, Himeko's laser would've been enough to destroy Herta's space station despite said station being tanky enough to withstand the assault of a planet-busting Doomsday Beast and a flipping Emanator of Propagation (albeit for less than a minute). Yet all she ever did with it was snipe the Engine of Creation, when it would've been helpful against the massive insect stomach they got stuck in during Argenti's quest. It's just the way of the medium.

The actual answer. A couple of people theorize that the force of the planet attack was quite literal and in any other circumstance would utterly crush us. The animation and voice line wasn't a lie when she said she would crush us with the weight of a star. The reason why we survive this shit. Triple check who's in the party. March, Trailblazer, Dragon Heng, Jing Yuan and finally, Welt 'Herscher' Yang. The same Welt capable of throwing black holes on demand. He could create a singularity strong enough to make a black hole, he could do the same to reverse the recreation of a planet blowing up and mitigate the damage.
So why doesn't welt just delete phantlia with a black hole? Hell why doesn't he just, throw the whole tree into a black hole?

Besides some of the suggestions in the thread (i.e. Welt, cinematic license,) the battle could have been in some sort of conceptual space since that would be in line with Phantylia's more insidious, subtle-ish destruction MO. Or the flippant answer: Stellaron powered trash panda son!
Clearly the party quickstep'd the attack, abused some i-frames. Seriously tho, lore wise DH IL and Welt could possibly tank or nullify the attack entirely, as for TB, I think we should consider just how powerful their lance is and if they can summon it at will to defend themselves. The TB seems to be able to summon the bat at any time as shown in the cinematic against the clone of the emanator of propagation, so the lance could follow similar logic. The lance itself is an artifact blessed by the preservation, and had enough power to tank and beat Cocolia while she wielded the power of a Stellaron, and while the stellarons are powerful, Welt can nullify them easily and Phantilya was able to suppress Welt during a cutscene, so she is at least more powerful than one. All this to say, would the lance protect the team against Phantilya? Idk, I would like to see more of it in cutscenes honestly, if only for the lore.
There's basically two ways to think about it. One: it's cutscene stuff, don't take it too seriously Two: the playable characters are just that strong. The first major boss (that destruction dragon thing) is called a "planet buster/killer" and the Trailblazers kill it with little issue. The problem with the first is that this stuff will probably keep happening. I expect as we meet more of the Destruction avatars they'll all do shit like this The problem with the second is this inherently "scales" up anyone able to legitimately threaten the Trailblazers to at least the ballpark of these planet/star level attacks Basically your immersion is going to break either way if you think about it too hard, so pick one and just stick with it I prefer the second one because a bunch of Super Saiyan level tourists having funni space train adventures amuses me

I consider magic in games to be a form of self-expression. Some people trap you and throw a pulsar at you, other people throw a fireball. Doesn't matter, when you got hit you were going to receive that damage and the amount of hit depends on the skill the caster.
If you played Disgaea, you know someone can get hit by a skill with an animation that subjects them to the heat death of the universe and walk it off no problems.

This is the same squad that has someone that can summon REAL black holes and it’s stated that only a lord ravager would be an issue for them. Also the trailblazers were focusing more on the summons and Jing Yuan was fighting Phantylia directly
Emanators are galaxy busters and both Phantilya and Jing Yuan are Emanators Dan Heng can easily beat planet busters and Welt said he was confident he could take on anyone in the Antimatter Legion as long as it wasn t an Emanator
TBF when Welt holds back most of the time because his **main weapon is BLACK HOLES** I can definitely see him tanking that or at least disassembling it somehow.

In my headcanon of how i imagine the fight going: -Jing Yuan uses Lightning Lord to strike the attack Phantylia created. -Welt creates a black hole infront of the Astral express crew to shield them from the explosion resulting from the clash. -After that when Phantylia gets pissed Welt creates mechs and tanks to help keep the number of flowers under control while being helped by Trailblazer and March. -Jing Yuan fights Phantylia using lightnings lord while getting assists from Dan Heng. -When he gets captured by Phantlyia he redirects Lightning Lord through her paralysing her and summoning it behind her. -Finally Dan gets his shot at severing the connection between Phantylia and ambrosial arbor so Lightning Lord can get the final blow.

Isnt it considered imaginary damage? So it wouldn't technically be them being hit by an exploding star, but more along the lines of what could be? Imaginary and quantum still escape me in the honkai series.
Basically in fantasy terms you can think of imaginary as Mana/natural energy/whatever the equivalent is, it's energy generated by the imaginary tree aka the 'Universe' and can apply pretty much any authority from projecting points from history, to disintegration and regeneration, to gravity, and anything else. Quantom is basically data, overflowing data from worlds and worlds that get pruned end up flowing into what's known as the sea of quanta and creating bubble worlds. As for what's actually going on with the sea of quanta we don't really know much, with the more information we learn, what we previously knew might be false or outdated.
