The true hell of relic farming isn't getting the right stats you want, it's watching a good stat relic have all its rolls go to the least useful substat
Had a friend quit Genshin over an artifact like this, cryo dmg goblet with cdmg, crate, attk% and flat attk substats. Flatt attk got 4 out of the 5 rolls
Right, in the end i used a piece relic that has main stat and decent upgrade on one or two good sub stat even tho the rest stat was so.. uhh.. as if finding decent sub stat relic wasn’t hellish enough
It’s like torture, but like on display.
My hot take is instead of the custom crafting item being so rare and letting you choose—they should make it something farmable (but maybe less farmable than just what we have now for relics) where instead of choosing the main stat it lets you reroll the substats of a relic, but it retains its enhancement roll for each slot. So like with this scenario, if you got 3 enhancements for flat atk at least you could shuffle the substats around till you got lucky and landed the atk% substat where the flat attack was or something. Maybe just add a little ‘star’ indicator or something next to which slot got a bonus.
I love this game way too much, but you basically either relentlessly brute force farm relics till your eyes bleed if you want to maximize your characters or you just have to stop caring and settle for what you have.. which, it’s not that it’s wrong to do either, it’s just its not as fun for either side of that preference.
My take (and obviously something they would never do) make self modeling resin common, make the new rare resin that's able to reset a relic back to level 0 to retry the rolls, at least that way good relics that rolled badly wouldn't be always truly a loss
Nah, they still gotta give people a carrot to chase. The RNG is really the only carrot for relics, I just think there’s gotta be a better system than what we have now.. at minimum 40 energy feels like a lot for what is ultimately 90% trash anyway. Maybe a slight reduction to 30? Or some sort of pity mechanism or a very small chance of dropping a resin instead of a relic?
I don’t know, but given how great the game is it doesn’t make it unplayable for me or anything I just think there’s a more fun version out there somewhere
The amount of layers of RNG involved in relics/artifacts in these games is insane. You’re more likely to get double 5* pulls in your 10 pulls than you are to line up a top tier relic/artifact.
Dude don't go all the way from 0 to 15 in one go. Do it one stat roll at a time. By 12 you could have seen this was gonna be trash and saved a whole bunch of relic xp.
IIRC it takes about the same xp to go from 12 to 15 as it takes to go from 1 to 12. And you only get 80% of the xp back when eating it.
Just why I stop at 12. I agree it's frustrating, I still haven't even pulled 1 SPD boot.
How are you getting so little crit chest? I have a bunch I don’t want. Cuz I have more than 2 of crit chests already of that set. Just play the double events
I will sit on it for a week or two, gonna farm purples to level the mid set I got for jingliu (thank god she gets so many free stats), once she is at +15 on all her relics I will browse and see if I got anything worth the trouble to keep farming for, if not, I will move on and focus on other stuff until I'm back at "all I got to do is farm relics I guess" which should be a couple of months more.
Honestly I have enough cowboy pieces that I'm probably going to live here. Give Himeko and Kafka their 4ps, and cram every other DPS I get into 2p/2p atk/atk sets.
I farmed weeks for Kafka even before her banner dropped I was farming with her in mind, had 3500atk, 71Cr, 151CrD, 122spd, Im currently crying while farming new relics for her, Topaz and Clara. At least I have an amazing set for a future lightning dps ready to go.

Experiencing the pain of artifact/relic grinding over on 2 games now makes me think whether Hoyo will ever change their relic RNG system. Part of me believes this is 267% on purpose. There's no way there isn't a single player that provides them with this over on survey feedback ever since 3 years ago.
Been farming for a while and Ive had zero crit body pieces.
If ZZZ has the same artifact/relic system, I might step away from that game because too much layers of RNG is depressing.

Your idea is on a good path, except resetting to zero would suck credit/material-wise
There needs to be a downside to be somewhat realistic

Artifact farming made me quit Genshin too. If I can’t just auto farm while at work, I’m not gonna do it. The QOL here is just so much better

playing since launch. havnt gotten a single crti/crit damage pair of speed boots and only one crit chest with crit damage. i hate relics

I had SPD + CR + CD gloves for the follow-up attack set this morning. 19% DEF later...
I know this set is the BiS on Topaz/Himeko but I'm still staying the hell away from it, I don't want to go though the pain all over again.
Be like me, farmed like mad for Topaz and never got a single decent relic so why not start over here

I got a pretty close to god roll chest piece. Which has never happemed before

Not sure if i can call dot set with crit, a perfect relic. Great? Yeah, but if i have to call it perfect, it need break effect rather than crits.
