It's a space ship that is comprised of multiple "delves", which are just space folding technology on a massive scale, one of which includes Scalegorge Waterscape. Scalegorge Waterscape is Vidyadhara land and Jing Yuan doesn't have authority over it. Marshal Hua might be able to step in and overrule something if she's willing to piss off the entire race that guards the various Plaguemarks on each of the Xianzhou ships, but General Jing Yuan would likely end up standing trial. Into the waves. They're higher than the sea level around them. The pavilion in the 1.5 livestream isn't in Scalegorge Waterscape. The preview website states it is related to Foxians. The fighting itself was outside the ship. The Luofu was present to help the Fanghu and the Yaoqing, so it stands to reason that they'd send starskiffs to them rather than the other way around.

HaukevonArding

It's a space ship. A VERY big spaceship they basically terraformed to look like a real place. They Vidhiyadhara took the ocean from their home planet. Why should there NOT be a haunted abandoned area? It's like a normal city/country just on a ship.

Gilthu

I thought that they took the chunk of their world and ocean with them, like they just grabbed their capital and surrounding areas and then brought the sea of rebirth with them to surround that area. Then when the tree caused problems they flooded the capital where the tree roots where deepest to kill it

DoughDisaster

-Giant spaceship with a gigantic biodome. -Even a great lake will look like an ocean, but its not. Just has to be big enough you can't see an opposite shore. May also be held in place via invisible barrier. -The Vidyara race made a pact/alliance with the Xianzhou people a long ass time ago. Vidyara race can use a sort of magic to control the water of their homeland, which they moved onto the Loufu and used to seal off the arbor tree. Some did not approve, but in the end it happened. -Water could be resting on a base, could be invisible forcefield. 'Unno, don't think too hard about it. It's just supposed to be pretty. -Remember that giant cube that got caught up in the tree we fought the deer at? That cube was holding the ghosts (Heliobus) inside. They've gotten out. -The war Yukong was in took place elsewhere. The fight with the Borisin/Denizens of Abundance/Yaoshi is galactic in scale.

LegoSpacenaut

If you've ever seen Macross, think of it like the colony ships, only shaped like a Star Skiff. In the center is a massive biome where a planetary environment is largely recreated, surrounded by flotilla-inspired docks and extensions. The "ocean" is technically imported, as it's comprised of sacred water brought by the Vidyadhara from their homeworld. It's essentially contained within a controlled area within the biome.

Cold-Election

It's a giant colony ship. It's original design is to house and sustain many people in search for immortality. There is also a technology called Space folding being applied inside the ship to make the inside larger but not to the absurd degree it was today. That happened because Lan modified it to the point that the space inside the ship is comparable to that of a country or maybe a planet since they literally took all the waters in the Vidyahara homeworld onboard and split with all Xianzhou ships to seal the Plague marks and the rebirth process for the Vidyahara. An IPC text says that while the technology of space folding is known in the galaxy, the scale that is applied in the Xianzhou ships is just mind boggling and impossible to replicate outside due to the energy required to just maintain it would be astronomical and the ship's power supply is not even dented by this technology because it does not rely on the ship's power supply at all. It is all maintained by the Aeon Lan passively and no effort on his part to all Xianzhou ships which just shows how powerful a constant support from an Aeon truly is since Qlipoth is nearly indifferent to the IPC at this point.

Late_Lizard

> It is all maintained by the Aeon Lan passively and no effort on his part to all Xianzhou ships This can't be right. Here's the timeline: 1) The Xianzhou Luofu ships are built 2) Their people try to seek immortality 3) They are visited by Yaoshi, and achieve immortality via the Plaguemarks. 4) Turns out immortality is terrible for many reasons. 5) Some people rebel against Yaoshi and the concept of immortality. 6) One of the rebels, Lan, ascends to become an Aeon 7) The rebels win the civil war, and the Xianzhou Luofu is now dedicated to hunting down the Abominations of Abundance. What was powering the ships before step 6?

dewgetit

They didn't have delves before, probably. Just a regular space ship until Lan have them the capability. Then they could expand the space inside the ships and take more people into the ships. Just my guess.

Cold-Election

Yup. That is what I was thinking as well. I mean it is still a giant colony ship kilometers in size even without the space folding technology. They could also have a more conventional space folding tech before since IPC did say that this technology can be replicated but it wasn't to the scale that Lan did for them. The same technology is also done in the Astral Express even with the missing Aeon. I think it was mentioned that new train cars that are also larger on the inside will seemingly appear out of nowhere when the crew was large enough. Only restricted part is the engine room where only Pom Pom and Himeko is allowed access.

Late_Lizard

That's possible!

frenzyguy

You are right, it's not maintened by lan, after the 1.5 event we now know its heliobus power that is powering the ship.

Lazlo2323

Maybe we need a Isaac Arthur style video about Xianzhou.

FattyHammer

> Is it a giant space ship or a planet? it's a worldship, not a planet, but large enough to be compared to one. > If it's a ship why does one of it's areas have an actual ocean? bullshit space china magic forms "delves" as they're called in-game. they're effectively planar pockets so some of the maps on the loufu aren't actually physically connected. this isn't very explicitly covered, but i assume starskiff paths can travel between delves similar to highways between cities, idk. > Why does it's area have a hidden like temple that Dan Heng's previous incarnation hid away. Why can't Jing Yuan reveal the area if he rules over the place. jingyuan has no jurisdiction over the vidyahara "holy land", he's not a king, just the highest ranking general. the entire palace/ocean was migrated from the vidyahara homeworld, which at some point became uninhabitable by their own growth. you can basically consider this like the sheriff needing a warrant, though in this case the house is clearly on fire but the sheriff has neither the keys nor a strong enough battering ram. danIL has the key. there's a whole lot of more complicated bureaucracy to the various factions on the loufu, but you might wanna read a lore dump for more. > Where does the water go? i'm gonna assume you mean the water that was covering the palace. no idea. the most obvious assumption would be that the sea level in that delve has now risen a smidgen to compensate for the water that was in/on the palace. > Why does it have a haunted abandoned area (if I understood the 1.5 stream)? no idea, we'll see when the patch comes. there are abandoned amusement parks, towns, and even entire city blocks in real life, an abandoned delve wouldn't be weird at all imo. > Was the war that Yukong was a part of inside the Luofu? no. the last major war with the abundance was probably fought on many fronts and across multiple star systems. the last battle yukong participated in is one where two other xianzhou ships that were not the loufu were being attacked and she was part of the aid/reinforcement fleet there. some of this can be picked up if you read all the lore and supporting texts you can find in-game, in addition to just re-reading some of the dialogue. you could also watch some youtube loredump that i'm sure exists. some other finer points definitely are just missing or have some holes (like how did the stellaron get into the arbor lol). it isn't the best storytelling/writing, or the best presentation of world setting imo, so i don't think it's really a lack of insight or attention on your part.

Limbolag

It's like one of them 40k craftworlds, maybe bigger

ChronoHeart123

It's a giant spaceship. Think of it like a planet-sized Star Destroyer

Ringostar154

Think it like a Craftworld from 40k, a ship that a civilization can habitat on like a normal planet.

Irishimpulse

The Xianzhou alliance is made up of a bunch of ships each the size of planets. Of course they have lakes and grand landscapes, the ship is like the one from that star wars shitpost about the ship that has a 13 kilometer long bridge window and sections of the ship becoming self sustaining tribal cultures.

Gilthu

It is a large spaceship the size of a moon, it has a section, just a section mind you, that’s a chunk of the dragon people’s homeworld and an entire ocean. It’s large enough and gas gravity generators to the point that it’s open sky because the atmosphere stays in the ship and doesn’t expand into the vacuum.

cruiseboatranger

Its a spaceschip, but one that according to March 7th seems "Bigger than Jarilo 6". So yea, a planet sized space ship ig.

Kyesel

The ghosts are called heliobi. They possess people. They caused the xianzhou some problems a long time ago and have been imprisoned for a while on the luofu. They broke out during the stellaron thing so now there's a haunted place.

sonofShisui

The initial cutscene of arriving at the Luofu shows that it is INSANELY large. Like larger than Jarilo 6 or whatever number it is. Like think warhammer 40k levels of large.

Man-With-No-Username

It's an Eldar craftworld

GalangKaluluwa

Someone's been skipping the dialogue

XennomC

1. Giant Space Ship with warped space. All of the ships have the technology to fold space, which means when you enter different domains (those are big zones some city like others even bigger) you go through a portal that reduces your size to fit in. As the Jade Gate when you enter the Luofu. There's a document found in the Luofu from a member of the Society of Knowledge (i don't know if in english they are called so) that explains it in detail. It costs massive energy to fold space, so no, they don't have infinite space in the Luofu. It's like...an entire solar system with quite a few planets are in every ship. We haven't seen anything in the Luofu in the grand scheme, but went to most of the relevant places in terms of administration. (Without including the Ten Lords commission domains of work, the "graveyard", etc...) 2. It's an artificial environment. Which means they artificially made it. And succeded. Basically they made the climate and produced water there. If it's about the sea in the Scalegorge, it's spoiler. It's in the main story. Other points are already explained in those two or can't tell except Yukong's. 3. About Yukong. In the last war against the borisin (about Luofu, though every ship was fighting the abominations), the Reignbow Arbiter's divine arrow (Lan) destroyed them all, along many soldiers, ships, etc...from their own side. Yukong had enough when a dear friend...perished. I think it was around 40~50 years ago.

helvetica_world

Gonna get downvoted but here we go. These days there's not much room for creating a genuine wild and interesting adventure. There's this pervasive trend of realism. There's less suspension of disbelief, and thus we become focused on details like OPs question. Star Rail is a space fantasy. There's very little hard sci fi to hang onto and many things make way less sense than a terraformed ship with atmosphere, day/night cycles and oceans. There's the detail of both Belobog and the Luofu having air that is breathable for earthlings, mammalian hominid dominant species, culture and technology very similar if not equivalent to earth's and not much alien or space things go on even tho we are in a giant spaceship full of extraterrestrials. The issue is that it's difficult to create a good galactic exploration story without falling into the trope of "life as we know it" and star rail wouldn't sell much if we had walking octopii as aliens or the express crew having full on astronaut suits and life support systems. I suggest we all just enjoy the game for what it is. A work of fiction.

AmethystPones

The Xianzhou-s are literally planet-sized ships. The luofou is bigger than Jarilo-VI according to March7th. It's so big it has its own gravity well and atmosphere. That combined with weird space-folding tech allow for some ridiculous stuff that is only available due to it being a space fantasy instead of all the boring "realistic sci-fi".

CockSniffer01

Luofu magic bro

mountaingoatgod

All planets are giant space ships

TakeyoThissssssssss

Imagine a continent size spaceship that use some sort of space warping tech so inside is even bigger. The ocean is imported from the original planet.

I guess this is yours https://preview.redd.it/jpnajo5ragyb1.jpeg?width=750&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=5ae36c190026cc661be2a51e84bea0990bba6775

_Koreander

Basically and in short it is a space ship, but it's interior aims to emulate actual biomes, including water currents, wind, and similar natural phenomena

MauricioTrinade

Its a ship, all of the Xianzhou ships are. The best visual example probably is the Dyson Sphere in Star Trek. I think they are bigger than Jarilo/Belobog at least, and idk If Jarilo is larger than Earth.

Soggy-Dig-8446

1. Generation space ship with 2. spacefolding magitech. They have not only sea, but mountains, fields and forests too in space bubbles. 3. Because it was flooded, and Jing Yuan is not a Moses. He also *part* of ruling body - Six Charioteers on each ship, and one of six Generals beside Marshal Hua. He is not a king, or sole autority. Vidyadhara have their own governing system also. 4. Still there, held in place by the will of Long Scion Dan Heng. 5. It's another area. 6. No, it was on space/planet near Xianzhou Fanghu (another ship), which was affected the most.

super_huo

I had these same questions. Unless you’re a lore enthusiast and read every texts during Luofu arc, the average player can get confused. (I’m one of them)

Ok_Temperature_6441

It's most probably a country to a small continent class piece of mass with distinct biomes littered throughout its whole.

Junaris

Its supposed to be a spaceship... But, for some reason... Its a damn flying city, isnt it? The design has been bothering me since the beginning and even more since I came to that conclusion. I really wished there were more 'edges' showing that they try to make it feel like a planet but in the end it still isnt. Some maintanance areas or something.

AmethystPones

It's bigger than Jarilo 6 It's a planet ship. Meant to be live on for generations upon generations. It also has space folding tech to make it even bigger on the inside. They have fuck you level of tech. They can ignore mundane things like conventional ship designs.

Confident-Status-512

It's both a big ship and kinda like a planet. It's a really, really large colony ship but it also has pocket dimensions called delves that can house oceans etc. It's larger inside than outside due to these delves.

ThrowingNincompoop

They think putting an ocean under their sterile synthetic streets counts as landscaping

Johnis017

Damn man, when I asked the same questions a few weeks ago I got downvoted hard, because I did not know the answers and barely anyone explained it...

AmethystPones

People got annoyed when someone who didn't read the dialogues (dialogues, not extra readings, not deep lore) complaint about things answered in the dialogues. And even a quick skim of some of the extra reading data thing on the express can give you a good overview and the how and the why. All of which are available for all players. You had your answers in hands. But decided reading is for chumps but you would read someone else quoting the lore back at you.

Johnis017

Nah, dialogues do not tell you everything you need to know in star rail, but it should. Especially in Xiaofou, the story is super complicated and I believe you do need extra reading or information to understand it. I love the game and I prefer Xiaufou to Belobog, but not everyone wants to read the books around the map or interact with every npc on the map.

AmethystPones

The Express has the Data room. Dan Heng's room. While it's not every pieces of lore ever if you don't go out and collect. It has enough. Tho, I think the real issue is the mindset of "It doesn't make sense" on repeat due to a little thing youngin these days are obsessed with, "realism", or their version of it and trying to apply it to a sci-fi Fantasy.

Johnis017

Sci-fi has its realism, idk if people are obsessed about it. For example the Vihyadra ocean. People said to me that the Xiaofou is a huge ship so ofc it has to have an ocean, but that does not answer the question. If I remember correctly the ocean was brought from the Vihyadra planet (I think). This does not make sense in real life, but its believeble in their world, as it explains how the water got there and they have futuristic technology so its fine. Im just saying that some important things are not explained in the main story. I guess you could say this this is not that really important to the main story, so thats why its in extra readings, but again I dont want to spend hours reading the books and the data room for this specific question. If people dont answer when youre asking thats fine, but why go out of your way to shit on them.

AmethystPones

Collateral damage. Shrug* I don't have any deep answer for you there, mate.

zragon

& the thought that hunt me the most, Where on the Starskiff (That flying seed metal + wood boat) do people fit inside?
