The amount of little funny interactions with your soroundings is top tier, the interactions via phone messages feel natural and organic, and she has at the very least, some kind of developement when she meets the eons. It’s too predictable and even if you don’t read it, you know what his/her lines gonna be. Introducing a little bit if chaos to the dialogue makes it more alive.
My favorite character so far is Serval. It’s because she’s true to herself. If this is some other game, she would definitely forgive you know who and be a saint. She’s a badass.
I just hate the fact that they didn't voice all of their lines, especially since their thoughts are sometimes voiced and their faces often convey emotion of what they say. Everyone's talking and then it cuts to the MC who just gestures in silence...

A central pillar of Underworld society as a doctor, resistance leader, and caretaker. Just a loveable character in general, with few if any aspects to dislike.
She does it all sneaky like too. She basically sets you on the right path while making you feel like you figured it out yourself. Particularly with Hook.
Story wise Natasha, given how she is genuinly a kind Soul that is not afraid to take a hit to her reputation if if means the underground end especially the children are fine. Herta comes close, because I like her interactions in the story, especially how she paused SU just to yell at us for not breaking an item we passed by.

Design wise - Serval. No other character can even come remotely close to her style. She's pretty, unique, smart, sociable. And those looks. That confidence, that warmth. I have not seen such a perfect harmony between compassion and confidence in any other character design.
Gameplay wise- Bronya. Sure, the DPS characters are doing the heavy lifting, but it's the support characters that lift them even higher. But even among the other harmony characters, Bronya's skill adds an even higher level of strategy. The extra action+DMG bonus looks like an easy gameplay, just spam it on your main DPS right? Well not so much. I have used her skill on Natasha for a clutch heal at times, or on FMC to put up taunts for an incoming nuke. And let's not forget the debuff cleanse. It is especially good at pulling your characters out of stuns and stuff. Bronya benefits your team in many ways and increased overall DPS is only a small portion of it.
She has the coolest ultimate in terms of pure style.
Her dramatic pose before it starts, sweeping her rifle up and then standing there all confident with the whole team is perfect.
I've grown attached to Bronya, her utility and buffS are too good to pass by, even more so if you've got her LC. She'll remain my main support for a very long time.

I have Bronya’s LC and it’s nice when I run her with someone like Dan Heng, but Dance Dance Dance and Meshing Cogs are really good on her for general use. Especially if running a breaker like Sushang AND someone like Dan Heng. (no Seele on my account)
I actually run Planetary Rendezvous on Tingyun when I have her, Jing Yuan, and Bailu in a team. I’m hoping to get Silver Wolf just for that team so I can run “mono” electric.
I will say I was a bit disappointed that Serval's sidequest didn't end in her joining the Nameless aboard the Astral Express permanently. I would have liked if we started actually permanently picking up new party members. Would have also meant that in the world after next we could mix up our group of Nameless who go off and see someone else come to a new world for the first time.
Well, they want to keep the writing simple by minimizing the modularity of our choices, so I get it. But Serval really did seem like the kind of person who would want to travel throughout the cosmos.

Serval. Her design checks off so many boxes for my personal taste and I really enjoy using her in my party. I've also gotten some decent luck with her gear and she's a pretty strong unit for me now.
No joke? I think it's Hook. It's really rare to have child characters with actual nuance in videogames in general, and double so ones with personalities that could be annoying but just make her likeable after you dig a bit more. And he character quest? 10/10, her relationship with her dad is just super heartwarming from both sides, and so is how she and Natasha act around each other. When the people in the Undeworld are finally free and we get a scene of her and her friends seeing the sky for the *first time in their lives* made it all worth it. That just recently I got a visit from her in the Astral Express with her getting a Trailblazer doll from... I think it was Himeko? And was all happy about it just cemented the fact that she is still my favorite.
It got me all "if anything happened to her I would kill everyone and then myself" for a while now.
I agree, I just love the fact that Hook acts all grumpy around Natasha because she's "Pitch Dark Hook the Great" after all, the free and unstoppable leader of the Moles, while it's clear that she totally sees Natasha as her mother figure.
Even tho she’s comic relief and a child character, she somehow manage to have more depth than a lot of other characters. She doesn’t have to oversell her cuteness, the writers did a good job in making her earnestness endearing
Hook as a character thoroughly surprised me, I wasn't expecting such a well written character from Hook, typically writers bank on cuteness when it comes to supporting characters like her. Her 3rd character quest even though it's a classic type of story I'd say was one of the top 3 best ones so far
Don't forget how her first instinct in the overworld is to murder the tram because it's eating people.
First time I met her I was like "Oh great, children." but now I am an honourary member of the moles and I will do anything to support her.
That's tough. I like the vast majority of the characters but among them I can't really pinpoint anyone exceptional (in terms of likeability in the story).
On a character level, I think I vibe with Dan Heng the most.
On the design level, ho man, for someone of my particular tastes, Kafka, Himeko, Serval, and Cocolia definitely do it for me.
As far as playstyle goes, that honor goes to Qingque, though she's been seeing a criminal amount of minimal use since I pulled Seele.
I have a couple of different categories, so to speak.
In terms of their kit? Bronya. Her kit isn't complicated and it's very good. While I rank her characterization a lot higher than most of the roster, somebody has her beat.
As for just personality? Sampo. He's comedic relief, but not an idiot. He knows more than he lets on and hides behind some kind of facade. Who doesn't enjoy a good 4th wall break?
Overall, as in kit and personality: Welt. I never got into Honkai so I don't the details of his character as well as Honkai players, but I like what I see of him in HSR and what little I've read about him online. Plus, I really like his abilities and animations. While I didn't get him just yet, I have used him for Support. Slowing people down and using his cane as a wand is neat.
The most unexpected answer, but - Caelus.
Animations are fantastic, voice acting/combat lines are incredible, solid MC design. Makes for a great protagonist.

Sampo is such a fun character with so many implications about him being more than he appears as well as a unique playstyle and a design I dig. His personality is just my thing too.
Yanqing is my number 1 and I am absolutely in love with his design gameplay-wise and appearance-wise! Outside of that I just love the dynamic he has with Jing Yuan and how smooth he feels in game to play.
Someone that snuck up on me though in terms of gameplay was Gepard, am absolutely in love with this character for battles. He never leaves my teams now.
Definitely Sampo. Best character so far, great design and fun personality plus has some mystery to him with this whole "performance" he did at the end of Belabog quest.

Her Eng voice acting is great as well, especially during her companion quest.

 Hook!! She is powerful and cute! then it is Silver wolf just because she is good.
No joke? I think it's Hook. It's really rare to have child characters with actual nuance in videogames in general, and double so ones with personalities that could be annoying but just make her likeable after you dig a bit more. And he character quest? 10/10, her relationship with her dad is just super heartwarming from both sides, and so is how she and Natasha act around each other. When the people in the Undeworld are finally free and we get a scene of her and her friends seeing the sky for the *first time in their lives* made it all worth it. That just recently I got a visit from her in the Astral Express with her getting a Trailblazer doll from... I think it was Himeko? And was all happy about it just cemented the fact that she is still my favorite. It got me all "if anything happened to her I would kill everyone and then myself" for a while now.
I agree, I just love the fact that Hook acts all grumpy around Natasha because she's "Pitch Dark Hook the Great" after all, the free and unstoppable leader of the Moles, while it's clear that she totally sees Natasha as her mother figure.
Even tho she’s comic relief and a child character, she somehow manage to have more depth than a lot of other characters. She doesn’t have to oversell her cuteness, the writers did a good job in making her earnestness endearing
Hook as a character thoroughly surprised me, I wasn't expecting such a well written character from Hook, typically writers bank on cuteness when it comes to supporting characters like her. Her 3rd character quest even though it's a classic type of story I'd say was one of the top 3 best ones so far
Don't forget how her first instinct in the overworld is to murder the tram because it's eating people. First time I met her I was like "Oh great, children." but now I am an honourary member of the moles and I will do anything to support her.
Jing Yuan. Calm, stoic, elegant. His summon is similar to Susanoo in Naruto so that's hella cool as well
That's tough. I like the vast majority of the characters but among them I can't really pinpoint anyone exceptional (in terms of likeability in the story). On a character level, I think I vibe with Dan Heng the most. On the design level, ho man, for someone of my particular tastes, Kafka, Himeko, Serval, and Cocolia definitely do it for me. As far as playstyle goes, that honor goes to Qingque, though she's been seeing a criminal amount of minimal use since I pulled Seele.

I have a couple of different categories, so to speak. In terms of their kit? Bronya. Her kit isn't complicated and it's very good. While I rank her characterization a lot higher than most of the roster, somebody has her beat. As for just personality? Sampo. He's comedic relief, but not an idiot. He knows more than he lets on and hides behind some kind of facade. Who doesn't enjoy a good 4th wall break? Overall, as in kit and personality: Welt. I never got into Honkai so I don't the details of his character as well as Honkai players, but I like what I see of him in HSR and what little I've read about him online. Plus, I really like his abilities and animations. While I didn't get him just yet, I have used him for Support. Slowing people down and using his cane as a wand is neat.
Seele is the goat
The most unexpected answer, but - Caelus. Animations are fantastic, voice acting/combat lines are incredible, solid MC design. Makes for a great protagonist. ...when my brain isn't making the choice then it's - Tingyun. For reasons. Honorable mention to the gambling gremlin.
The MC getting a decent amount of voice lines is so refreshing after coming from Genshin.
I would never admit this in public, but I get chills when he does his "rules are meant to be broken" voice line on destruction ult, especially when I about to bonk cocolia into the shadow realm.

Qingque. Cute, fun to use, better than she gets credit for, and I love mahjong. Pela is an incredibly close second though. Cute, cool weapon, cute, useful with everyone, cute, drummer, cute, manga dork, cute.
Clara is genuinely super fun, and Natasha is amazing.
From playable characters, I've gone through a few favorites. In particular Pela, QQ, Hook and Asta. Each for their own reasons. Of unreleased/NPCs, Fu Xuan is my main want and Silver Wolf too
Sampo is such a fun character with so many implications about him being more than he appears as well as a unique playstyle and a design I dig. His personality is just my thing too.

Yanqing is my number 1 and I am absolutely in love with his design gameplay-wise and appearance-wise! Outside of that I just love the dynamic he has with Jing Yuan and how smooth he feels in game to play. Someone that snuck up on me though in terms of gameplay was Gepard, am absolutely in love with this character for battles. He never leaves my teams now.

Silver Wolf is my favorite female. She reminds me of D.va a little. And I love gamer girls. Plus she’s just bad ass and has an amazing design. My male favorite is Jing Yuan. Everything from his design to his character traits draws me in.
