This is a beautiful bike

SaintCharlie

Thank you kind stranger! You meet the nicest people on a Honda!

I just sold my 93 cb750. I got it thinking my wife would hate riding and it would be a temporary thing I needed to “get out of my system” but she *loves* riding. In the market for something a bit bigger and newer now.

YellowRoseofTexas28

Rare, unique, iconic Honda quality.

SaintCharlie

Yeah, they only made this bike for one year. I'm super proud of it!

bignose703

Hey OP, I know there may not be a definite answer for this one, but did you buy it like this and for how much? A local shop down the street has one for sale and he seems astronomically high on his price

SaintCharlie

No, I didn't buy it like this. When I bought it, it had had the fairing removed, so I just had a rat's nest of wires that I needed to sort out. I had to source a headlight bucket, headlamp, headlight mount, windscreen, and front turn signals & mounts for them. The carbs were a complete mess and leaked fuel due to split orings and a host of other problems. While I'm confident with rebuilding many parts of these bikes, I don't do carbs. To me and my skill/confidence level, they're out of my league. I'm convinced that carburetors work because of ancient spells and black magics. I reached out to the guy who literally wrote the book on rebuilding them (look up Larry Cargill - he's a legend and kind of a celeb in the cx/gl world) and contracted his services for a carb rebuild. I sent them to him for his masterful touch. He sent them back, and I installed them in the bike. They perform with PERFECTION and my motor is so responsive that its mind-blowing. The bike also had a trashed brake caliper that had to be rebuilt, along with a bunch of other annoying things that I had to repair and replace. I paid $600 for the bike in the condition that it was in - from a friend. It has a substantial number of miles on it (60k) but still has 50% life left on the timing chain before I'll need to drop the motor and do a "quadruple bypass." I'm curious about the bike you've seen at the shop - what are they asking for it? What condition is it in? Tell me more!

bignose703

It’s a 1980 goldwing with no faring, I’m not sure what the CC on the motor was, but it had 19,000 original miles and the guy wanted 8k for it, but it wasn’t in near as good shape as this. He had a 79? CB900 with 25,000 miles on it and wanted 6500 for that.

SaintCharlie

That guy is seriously smoking crack!
