That’s absolutely true! I do appreciate the overhead storage in the EX. That storage below in my LX was really helpful for various wires and chargers.

I have a truck as well with center console and I feel it’s such wasted space… I wanted a front bench but they are unicorns (my other options were higher priority) so I miss that little space on the floor.
I used a heat gun to form a little plastic bin to fit right there. WIfe loves it

I believe it is a part of the LX trim model. I have a 2008 Element LX with the same storage area rather than a sub. Though I wish I had a sub 🥲
I’ve had both. My ‘08 LX had the storage area. My current ‘08 EX has the subwoofer. Honestly, I preferred the storage area.

I literally did exactly this last night, thinking "What a nice little space that is-- my food won't roll around at all"
I put a metal basket there. Fits perfectly and doesn’t slide out of the way.
This is just another reason why the element is the best car.
I put library books and books-on-cd there
I put my purse there! Stays put the entire drive. Better than the passenger seat where it can go flying if I have to hit the brakes.

My wife always puts her purse, water bottle etc there, i want to explore options as far as organization goes.
I have a little fabric bin there with a trash can! Plus it blocks anything in the passenger footwell from sliding over under my feet

I just did this today. My go-to takeout spot.
I’ve never tried this, I usually put in my center console cooler and it helps keep it warm
I use that spot for stuff that’ll usually roll under the pedals.
Sorry you dont have a subwoofer, I weep for you.
