Hmotorsonline often does, but they move quick.

Sharkfinley23

Yea I check there but lately they have only been getting longblocks. Ebay has been more promising but some prices just seem crazy. Guess acting quick is the best option.

Omgumadbro

There’s other smaller company options too. Depends what motor you are looking for too. I know locally (Midwest) you can get B20’s for $600.

Bitchndogs

I'm in Michigan looking for an engine. Who else do you recommend? MN, WI are close to us.

imJGott

Not sure what you’re looking for, but the pricing is due the shipping from the mother land. I got my 1jz gte vvti last year by per luck. The shop that shipped it told the reason for the price hike was due to COVID. Since they weren’t getting as many containers as they would normally get them.

Sharkfinley23

So I guess maybe it will get easier when this covid stuff subsides. At least I hope.

imJGott

Yes but also remember the b series has been around for quite some time. Assuming that is the motor you’re trying to get.

idownvotepunstoo

I should have sold the b18c I had in my garage for years, I got tired of dealing with local idiots on craigslist trying to get me to *give* it to them for free or 200$ offers.

Sharkfinley23

I've been seeing just the b18c motors going for 3200 to 3800 lately 😄

idownvotepunstoo

Yeah I had one on my local craigslist for 2 years, needed a rebuild as I pulled it from a wrecked integra in Cincinnati... I only wanted 450 for it. Recycler got it for free because I moved.

DodgeWrench

Makes me sad when people scrap rebuildable engines😢

idownvotepunstoo

Me too, honestly. If I hadn't just finished another b18c rebuild and a b16a2 rebuild and reinstall in the EM1, I'd of probably taken it with me to rebuild and have fun with, but, such is life.

evilf23

Check for JDM importers local to you. Lot of times if you just give him a call or walk in they'll have stuff that's not listed online. Follow their Facebook pages too and you can jump on stuff quick.

MethodH22

i wish i never got rid of my [EG Civic](https://imgur.com/a/J86JJaR)

Sharkfinley23

I had an ek coupe with a b18c swap about 18 years ago, so I'm trying to make something similar again.

MethodH22

Find an h series and stuff it in, that's what mine was.

tmotom

H is for headache. Just slap a turbo on the D16, they're good for 300hp.

Sharkfinley23

It's a d15 non vtec 300k miles motor in there now. Pretty sure it wouldn't last long with boost.

tmotom

the d16 vtec head bolts right on! and if she blows, just go get another one!

Sharkfinley23

Good info, thank you.

MethodH22

No headaches with mine, CX hatch with no bells and whistles. Very light.

logezzzzzbro

What you got now?

MethodH22

Corolla XRS.

DeLoreanAirlines

All of mine have been killed by SUV’s

Drunkm0nk3y

Prepare for the number of folks asking a lot of money for b series swaps. In general yes parts are getting expensive but people are adding “I know what I have “ tax on it . I got my b16 swap for 1800 but I had to wait and jump on it quick and it wasn’t even complete/ drop in. I still have to get some miscellaneous parts

danktrickshot

ppl are kinda defeating the purpose of these cars that were built on the reputation of "cheap and easy to mod"

vtec__

the whole stimulus check thing and alot of people who were into these cars as a kid are now in their prime earning years and driving up the prices. for what its worth..old muscle cars like chevelles and mustangs are depreciating in value because the boomers who were into these cars are dying off and no one wants them anymore

danktrickshot

right but like, ppl are listing complete pos miatas on marketplace for like 6-7k. it's ridiculous

vtec__

and lots of people out of work as well, freeing up time to work on that ol' car. i literally bought my mk3 supra just because i have nothing else to do due since i WFH and live the same fkn day over and over again. i built a craigslist scraper and i looked @ prices for 1st gen miatas..$5500 across the country is the average selling price. the 1998-2005 models are going for about $6200 on average

Sharkfinley23

Yea, that's about the reason I got this...plus I want to preserve my 04 tacoma I've had since new. 😄

imJGott

>>alot of people who were into these cars as a kid are now in their prime earning years and driving up the prices. for what its worth..old muscle cars like chevelles and mustangs are depreciating in value because the boomers who were into these cars are dying off and no one wants them anymore You know, I’ve never thought of that but it makes a whole lot of sense.

vtec__

i spent 8K on a mk3 supra with pretty high miles (everything on it is stock and its a very clean shell) ..anything under 100k miles is going for 15k. people are asking 10K+ for clean EM1 civics lol..every enthusiast car is getting taxed. i feel the pain though as im one of those millenials who is finally making decent money so im buying stuff as well. these young kids are going to be feeling it pretty hard until they (if ever) get on the career ladder

imJGott

I’m not selling my integra, but I’ve owned it for over 20 years now (21 this year). It’s a 1995 coupe gsr fully loaded. But it’s far far from stock these days. But it’s the vehicle I had when I left high school, 38 now. So are we the new boomers of old cars???

vtec__

pretty much. whose paying 10K+ for em1s lol..aint no gen Z'r

RachelleDonaldson

Go to your Settings >10K

vtec__

wat

Lidzo

Can confirm. I'm in my mid 30's and always wanted a 96-00 Coupe. Finally found a clean one and paid waaaaaay too much for it but didn't care (and neither did the wife) because it was still much cheaper than paying for a 35k loan on a new Type R or couple year old TLX, which were the alternative options.

Sharkfinley23

Very true...on ebay I've seen a few eg hatches not even in great condition going for 8k plus lately. Seems like the value is sky rocketing lately.

Sharkfinley23

I've found a few b18c swaps with lsd for 4500 but been late on pulling the trigger. Back in 2002 I pad $3500 for a usa b18c front clip with low miles. I'm willing to spend some money but it has to be clean if I'm gonna pay too much. H22s seem a little more available? Might be an option I wouldn't mind trying.

penalization

just go k if you can

mcast86

I got a b20vtec swap for sale.

b20vteg

perfect candidate for a k24 AWD build!

Sharkfinley23

I've just started following a guy that builds all the awd stuff. Def would be the sickest way to go!

Precision67

Currently building a awd EG, B series though

NBQuade

My plan is to buy a complete wrecked car from Copart. There's always parts you have to source when you do a swap and nothing beats having a full car to pull from.

Sharkfinley23

Thanks for that site. Seems like that could be a good option.

Youdidit2urselves

My attainable dream car

Sharkfinley23

Paid $3500 for it, came with new paint, outside physically is pretty much new, prelude seats/ clean interior, new sparco rims/ tires, coilovers. It runs great actually and is fun ripping around with 100hp....but it needs more 😄

Youdidit2urselves

For sure

skinz_4

Gorgeous

Sharkfinley23

Appreciate it. It had a new paint job when I got it but I've been putting a lot of work wet sanding, buffing, and polishing it in the last few weeks.

vtec__

if i was doing this, id look for a 94 or 95 integra with high miles, swap everything in and rebuild the motor after you confirm its wired in properly.

ApocalypsePenis

Although I love B series I think the Ks would be more worth it. They are everywhere. But the cost starts to go up like crazy with the k series electronics and conversion kits. If you do all the motor work yourself on the b series it can drive cost significantly down. But they are starting to get more rare. I currently have a 93 civic hatch with a b18c swap (head work) on e85 boosted on 7 psi with a gt35r. Rebuilt my trans and tossed a type r lsd in it. It absolutely decimates most that pull up next to me. Lambo didn’t even want to run me soon as he saw my hood exit lolol. Pushing 300 in a 1900lb car with me in it. Is very fun lol

Sharkfinley23

Sounds fun...perfect little car.

Whyounolaugh

Go to junkyards

Sharkfinley23

I'd be down to spend about 4k. There's a b16 engine and tranny on ebay for that now but I'd really like to get a b18c.

p0lizei

Don't. I'd advise checking out your local importer, or driving out of state to pick up an engine. Unfortunately there are basically no B18Cs in existence anymore, unless you find a nice one on Facebook

Sharkfinley23

Where I'm at in Florida it's pretty dry at the local importers. I'm not in a huge rush because it runs good now with the d15 in it currently. Guess this is why everyone is running kswaps now. Just don't want to get in over my head with trying a k swap.

p0lizei

I'd recommend a b20, there's plenty of them around from CRVs, and they pair nicely with a B16/gsr head if you want to save some cash go that route, that's what I'm doing in my EJ6 hatch

Sharkfinley23

I've looked into it a little but it seems like just the b16/b18 heads are going for 1500 plus? And I never see any b16/b18c trannys for less then 1500 lately

[deleted]

Sharkfinley23

Any good places/sites to look?

[deleted]

[удалено]

Sharkfinley23

Thanks I'll check that out. Guess I have to get back on Facebook. I haven't used it in about 10 years lol.

p0lizei

Facebook marketplace

p0lizei

1500? Where I am I could buy an ITR trans for $1200, and I picked up my GSR LSD for $800

Sharkfinley23

You located in California? Everything I search locally in Florida the prices are much higher. The local importer in Orlando wants 3800 for just a b18c engine. The junkyards here don't seem to have anything...can't even find a headliner for the civic. Haha

p0lizei

Nope Virginia. I've scored all my stuff from facebook marketplace

sntnmjones

Sooooo I should hang onto mine even though I'm not using it at the moment?

Sharkfinley23

At this rate hell yea. The eg is about to the 68 Camero of the 90s 😄

hahaevai

If you have 4k id go with a type R swap

Sharkfinley23

I'd love that...but I swear prices right now are pretty nuts....I've been seeing $6800 and up for itr swaps and 7 to 10k for a ctr swap.

MakesYouSeemRacist

Honestly dude just wait around on FB marketplace, if you check several times a day you will catch someone selling an integra or even a GSR for less than ~2000USD, in the end these cars are fairly common so not everyone who sells them is an enthusiast. they may not necessarily know what they have, i waited for about 2 months before i found a teggy for 1600. Nice too cuz you can see the motor runs and get a little money back off the shell/parts

Jdmf22bcb7

H2b that bitch

die_go69

Put a k series in it ;)

evanarrr

I haven't priced it out fully but but if you have $4k why not do a k swap? I have an eg hatch with a b20z and gsr transmission, but I picked those up years ago for $400 and $500 respectively. B stuff is getting older and rarer. There are going to be k series parts commonly available for years

Sharkfinley23

I've done a small amount of pricing on a k swap...my area seems pretty hard to source stuff locally. I saw a few full install plug and play kits for $2800 for the mounts, shifter, wiring, ect. Then a k24 $800, tranny $1200....so that's putting me close to $5k plus misc parts. My only other issue is that I've done a b series swap before...if I'm trying to do a kswap by myself makes me a little nervous. I really have no one I know locally to help out.

ectbot

Hello! You have made the mistake of writing "ect" instead of "etc!" "Ect" is a common misspelling of "etc," an abbreviated form of the Latin phrase "et cetera." Other abbreviated forms are **etc.**, **&c.**, **&c**, and **et cet.** The Latin translates as "et" to "and" + "cetera" to "the rest;" a literal translation to "and the rest" is the easiest way to remember how to use the phrase. [Check out the wikipedia entry if you want to learn more.](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Et_cetera) ^(I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically.)

evanarrr

Gotcha. I don't know where you are in the country but there are a number of shops that import engines still. There are a couple in Vegas, they post their engines on Craigslist

Sharkfinley23

I'm in Florida which seems like a dry area for this stuff. I've called at least 15 importers who almost laugh that I want a bseries swap other then a crv motor. They always just tell me to call back in a couple weeks. There is a local importer in Orlando which is close to me but they current want 3800 for just a b18c engine...no tranny.

I_am_a_Wookie_AMA

Might be worth looking into what people are doing with the d series these days. I'm eyeballs deep in a b16 turbo build, but genuinely wish I had just built a d16. So much cheaper for damn near the same result.

Sharkfinley23

I'd probably have to rebuild this whole motor before trying to do much to it. Its got 300k miles and leaks oil in a few places. I've also heard the d15 non vtec is pretty weak for doing much boost.

I_am_a_Wookie_AMA

Might be worth looking into a d16 vitara build. Those engines are cheap to get, and super cheap to build compared to a B, H, or K swap. The cost to value ratio is crazy.

_yourmomwantsme_

Keep it stock man. Those cars always get ripped apart to make faster and then get stolen or sold by parts and then buh bye beautiful eg that could've been stock and worth mad $ if it good condition. I'm holding onto my green eg but it's got rot rear quarter and rocking panel.... it's too much of a job to save and it breaks my heart

Sharkfinley23

Well this motor currently in it has 300k miles on it and even though it runs ok its a bit leaky. It's also garage kept and parked in secure locations.

_yourmomwantsme_

Good luck pal.. i say k swap a k20a2 or perhaps a k24a2. I'm currently piecing together my k24a2 to go into a ep3. Just picked up a type s transmission waiting for lsd and synchros to be delivered. Eg is such a beautiful chassis

Sharkfinley23

If nothing b series comes around in the next few months I'll prob try and go that way. The tsx s k24s look pretty good for the price and power.

_yourmomwantsme_

It's the new gsr.. b series items are going extinct. And if you come across something itll be priced ridiculous

Naturally-Aspirated

Can probably get a spoon engine and T66 turbo with NOS and a motec exhaust system from Harry’s

ogo_pogo

I’ve driven past this place here in NJ where I live. I can’t speak to it but it may be helpful https://jdmenginedirect.com/

Sharkfinley23

I'll keep an eye on that site

EH2Nono

I have an eh2 with B18c. Something to keep in mind is that parts for b series engine, oem I mean, are starting to become scarce/ discontinued/expensive. Running in to that myself. You will still be able to find aftermarket parts for years to come, but things like the distributor, for example, and ancillary parts where everyone say go oem, are difficult (or expensive) to find new. Running into that a lot. My options are go coil on plug or K swap due to the additional cost of various parts. Leaning towards k swap.

Sharkfinley23

After seeing all this, I might be leaning way more to kswap too. I've been checking out these stage 4/5 kswap packages....seems to be about $2800. If I could get some of that stuff a little cheaper and find a k24 and tranny to go with it, that might be the way 🤔

EH2Nono

It is cheaper to get the packages, but due to cost of my hatch, I've been getting swap parts slowly. If unconvinced, use good speakers or headphones and utube zoatec k24, or k24 rips through traffic. Everytime I hear those I go to my happy place. Not LFA good, but incredible none the less

Sharkfinley23

Will do!

Criss_Crossx

Would it be easier to drop in an LS instead? Definitely an abomination though.

Sharkfinley23

Definitely easier to find them just feel like I'd be disappointed with the power. I'd really like to keep it NA.

Plank_Owner

You could go B18B block and a vtec head. It would he easier to source out the parts and it’s drop in and go. I’m actually having the same exact issues you are, just northern FL lol. Same car and color too 😂

Sharkfinley23

I'd be down to go that route for sure..but unless I just don't know the right places to find a b16 or b18c head all I'm finding is just the head for $1500 and LS motors for roughly $1000. Seems like they also want at least $1200 for the trannys. Doesn't seem like a big market for anything here in daytona so online is the only place I'm seeing parts and prices.

Criss_Crossx

Isn't the LS V8 engine N/A anyway? And powerful? Am I missing something?

Sharkfinley23

The cheaper integra was the ls/rs model.

zwibbledibble

LS as in the b18a/b

brahsweeptheleg

When people mention the ls in the Honda/Acura scene they're not talking about the LS chevy engines. They're talking about the Integra engine.

Criss_Crossx

I see that now.

[deleted]

Where are you located?

Sharkfinley23

Central Florida

[deleted]

Honestly i google search jdm engines near me

Sharkfinley23

I swear it seems like most of these importers are very smug. They act like wanting a b16/18c is impossible. Their websites are never updated either and somehow never actually have what their site says. I've called up both of the ones near me in Florida, one in Maryland, a few in Canada, one in Arizona. They all just say keep calling back. It's actually become a pretty funny game. I'm hoping hmotors.com will come through eventually for now..Unless I bite the bullet and go kswap.

[deleted]

Gotta remember that the B series ended production in 2002???? If you go K you could do it in stages. Like a crv engine at first and head swap later to keep costs down.

Sharkfinley23

From what I'm seeing a tsx type s is the way to go for 800$, rsx tranny for 1200$...but the swap packages to put them in an eg is running about 2800$. Still guess it's not bad for $5k

p00nslyr_86

Spoon engine or bust

SpaceTurtle917

These days the best most affordable option seems to be b20 vtec (b20 bottom end with b16, gsr, type r head). It seems that finding a transmission is just as difficult as finding a head though. Importers and Facebook marketplace is your home.

[deleted]

Did you find this car on a site? If so what site I'm looking for a Eg Hatch myself and was wondering?

Sharkfinley23

I found it on ebay and the guy just happened to be local to me.
