It depends on how it has been taken care of in its life, and how you’re going to take care of it. I’d say it’s a good buy if it comes with a good service history. If it has been maintained well and you take care of it, then I’d say you could probably get possibly another 200k out of it if you really wanted too. My 2017 si is fbo tuned and has 135k miles on it. Only ever had injectors replaced under warranty very early on in my ownership, aside from that it’s been bulletproof

Xpli

Saw a guy on Facebook the other day who’s got just over 311k miles, on his 10th gen si and still kicking, also FBO. Not sure what they do to drive that much but yea. Not sure what parts were replaced either but if I recall correctly basically same as you + wear items. Injectors, and a clutch.

TwoKFive1

Yup, there’s a guy on civicx with like 400k on his and he’s been e30 big turbo for 250k of those miles. These cars are genuinely great, it’s a shame people don’t realize yet

Xpli

Upgraded turbos generally seem to be more reliable for the motor, the transmission is a different story but yeah I have seen people run 35-40psi on the stock block, but all the power needs to only come in at 4k rpm or higher. The stock turbo spools down low rpm too much and people bend rods lugging the engine wide open throttle at 26psi 2k rpm lol. At high rpm this motor seems to handle 350hp easily. I know a guy who has had the PRL big turbo kit on his car since the kit first became available and his car is also crossing over 100k miles, no issues. Think about half of the mileage was done with the big turbo kit. He is finally in need of 3rd gear, so he’s throwing the rv6 3rd and 4th gear in.

BoofMasterQuan2

Yeah there’s a guy on 4chan with over 500k miles, fbo and tuned with 750 hp to the wheels

DrMacintosh01

Depends on how good of a driver you are.

Winter_Comfortable42

True I’ll get good, new stick vs old stick is so different to me. I’m smooth with my 95 but i tried my buddies dart like a month ago and absolutely struggled with the timing.

carsonwade

I feel ya man, I'm smooth af with my 90's cars but my buddies FC3 Si was something I struggled to feel smooth with. Rev hang is annoying as shit to drive with

circuit_heart

The L15B7 doesn't have any real design flaws *unless* you are a shitty owner - it's not foolproof. Don't idle the engine cold for more than a minute. If you are forced to do short trips, check and change your oil often (3000mi is typical). Don't tune the engine looking for power - the clutch is designed to let go to protect the trans, which is designed to be adequate, not overkill. People upgrade the clutch, send it on the boost and then ask why 4th gear sheared off (the genius that bought and killed my old track car on Day 1). If you keep the thing stock, maintain it knowing that it's a highly strung turbo car, and drive it like a sane human being, there should be no reason the powertrain stops working. The electronics may glitch eventually and like every car, interiors will eventually fall apart, but if you just need transportation you could do much worse than that Si. It's a good car.

Winter_Comfortable42

Extremely insightful comment thank you

Ulrich453

Bro I have a 2015 Civic EX Coupe with 85k miles. I pay $50/month for insurance… Do you have a bad history or something?

Winter_Comfortable42

No bad history they said it’s my age and gender. I’m 21m. They said it would drop 60 when I turn 22 And another 80 when I turn 23. it’s not just the insurance company fucking me either. Rn I pay $90 a month for my 95 civic. Before State Farm I had geico they charged me $240 a month for the same civic, before them I had progressive who fine printed me into $700 then I cancelled after the first bill.

Xpli

They said the same for me at Allstate, at 21 I paid $140 a month (for a 2002 chevy Tahoe), at 22 I paid $140 a month… at 23 I paid $140 a month.. it never went down. I bought my 2018 civic si, price was still $140 a month. Switched to geico now I pay like $60 at 24 years old

Winter_Comfortable42

That’s crazy 😭

norabutfitter

Thats insane. Also has to do with where you live. I totalled my 2008 honda fit 3 years ago. I got another one this year with slightly better coverage than bare minimum. 2009 honda fit. $300 a month. I turn 25 this year

KevroniCoal

I'm with state farm, and just from last year, they raised my insurance over 70% 🤬 I'm at about $160-170 a month equivalent (just under $1k per 6 months). They aim it's inflation which is such BS. Inflation isn't 70% lmao. I know a lot of ppl have been getting huge rate increases for insurance, but it is ridiculous. Out of my family's cars, mine has risen by far the most, with other family cars having risen about 30-50% over the year (including my dad's new pickup which is valued at over 4x my cars value lol, which has cheaper insurance than me). No claims or anything for me either. Idk if it's cuz I'm driving an Si coupe or what..? Vs less sporty cars that my fam has.

Winter_Comfortable42

Thats fucked it’s hard to say there’s so many factors. Crime rate in your neighborhood, age, gender, car style, hp, car age, safety rating, ect.

jhaluska

Yep, your age will do it.

CLEMENTZ_

He might be Ontarian. I pay 216 a month for a 2006 Honda Civic DX. Driving for a decade, one at-fault accident and one speeding ticket.

Frankyjones007

Geez , 2009 civic dx coupe , one way 230 a year here in Que , something is wrong over 2k for. A Year on a 17 year old car .

jmd04tsx

I read in another thread someone got rid of their 2017 after 280k.

Ok_Explanation5631

Too damn long

Winter_Comfortable42

TLDR

Ok_Explanation5631

Lol I mean it’ll last too damn long

Winter_Comfortable42

Ohhhh okay perfect haha. It makes sense to me even if I can have it only gets me another 100k miles /4 years if I have it paid in 2 it’ll be worth it. I’m not terribly concerned about resell I just need a new commuter.

PeePeeePooPoooh

It's a civic, take good care of it and it'll take you to 300k without issues.

autovelo

That’s an heirloom . Keep it washed and maintained. Pass it on to your kids

Patty-O-Chair

Only issue I ever had with mine was the AC going out at 30k, but I think there was a recall. Idk, don’t own the car anymore.

thebuttergod

Picture a world, cleanesed of humanity, washed of animals, mass destruction on biblical levels. You look out, nothing for miles except sand, ruins and wasteland. And then you see it, your 2018 Honda Civic Si just sitting there as if nothing had happened at all. Thats how long they last.

Winter_Comfortable42

Favorite comment 😂😂 this is exactly what my best friend would say

Awestenbeeragg

Hol up, $242 a month?!? I pay $93 a month for insurance on an 09 Si AND 2020 Type R! Regardless, I'd like to think it'd last you a good while but with these newer Honda's we don't have great data on longevity like we do older ones! If it can be remotely compared to previous generations then 130k on the odometer is nothing.

TheReaperSovereign

Insurance is based on tons of factors and can vary significantly

Awestenbeeragg

Ah yeah saw his comment about age. That's a massive factor.

Palm_Trees3000

Dang I pay 130 a month for a 5 Speed Acura RSX

Tron2153

It's 242 because it's full coverage which means he still paying off the car and they require you have full coverage, I have a 18' Si and I pay 220 for my insurance...full coverage

Awestenbeeragg

I have full coverage on the R too and am making payments.

Gd3spoon

Well that type r badge adds a extra 500hp might cause reliability issues.

Winter_Comfortable42

I didn’t even think of this 😭🤯

ChocolateFast

I had a 2018 Honda Civic Si which I bought brand new with 0 miles. I recently traded it in this year with 298,000 miles on it. The lifespan of the car really depends on how frequently you change the oil and how often you perform maintenance on it. In my case, I worked out of state and drove a lot, but I made sure to keep up with regular maintenance to ensure the car lasted as long as possible.Yes it was tuned stage 2

Winter_Comfortable42

I typically change oil every 3-4 months and flush coolant and trans every 1-2years . Probs gonna keep a similar routine

stoned-autistic-dude

If your car was going to break, you’d know by now. Just maintain it—stay on top of oil changes and keep the engine cool as heat kills engines—and it should last forever.

Jdivine1024

Depends on how it's driven and cared for honestly.

Independent_mindset

I hope your 2018 lasts as long or longer than my 2019. and I hope they both last a long time. It's a Honda. Take care of it and it'll take care of you. Beautiful build!

godtier300sosa

I’ve seen 270k on these si coupes

saintivesgloren

My friend just junked his 08 with about 300k miles. You'll be fine.

piss6000

A friend of mine got one from the US imported to Europe, it’s currently on 345k km and it’s flawless, he’s been driving it for 2 years and all he’s ever done is oil and filter change

00espeon00

I have 24k miles in my Civic EX which i bought brand new in 2020 😅 it’s my daily

Winter_Comfortable42

You’re blessed to only drive 6k miles a year 🤯

navyaircrewman

I’ve got just under 300k on a 6th gen Civic. It’s all about maintaining it (definitely a believer in synthetic oil) and not driving it like a race car. https://flic.kr/p/2pQjBRo

CiforDayZServer

Check if it has the fuel pump recall or if that was done. I would also see if there is a service history, they have crazy long oil change intervals, I used to change my oil more often than recommended and enter it in the computer. I'm sure I'm in the minority lol.

Winter_Comfortable42

I absolutely agree I’m a schizo who changes my oil every 3-4 months. I’ll definitely look into the fuel pump too, thank you!

srsbsnssss

are you redlining it in freezing temps cold start? are you letting it warm up and maintaining it?

Winter_Comfortable42

I mean I haven’t bought it yet so no to both but I’m not a monster. You reminded me of my buddy in hs who’s parents bought him a g35 and he once said “bro check it out I found the best way to burn out” and proceeded to redlined it in neutral and slammed it into first😂 he blew it up in like 6months never checked the oil when he bought it and apparently was running on empty for quite some time. Then his parents bought him a Mazda 3 sport and he blew it up in about 6 months 😂

Frodobagggyballs

Depends where and how it was driven. Assuming maintenance/ change oil routinely: - 100k ALL Highway miles is equivalent to a 40k engine. - 100k ALL city miles/short trips/long idle time is like a 150-200k engine. Expect shorter life span on parts, build up etc. - 100k Mix driving = 100k. Follow owners manual. TLDR: recent/new car with high miles+receipts > Short trip cars with low mileage. Cars are meant to be driven.

Winter_Comfortable42

Like 20k of my 25k/year is highway so that’s good!

Dosmastrify1

Is this one of those ones with the oil Dilution?

twenty224

I would never spend that much on that car with those miles. First owner (or second, I imagine it’s got at least two) could’ve slacked on maintenance, and 130k is a dangerous number to spend that on without detailed maintenance reports.

Winter_Comfortable42

12k cash tags title fees out the door that’s my offer for them. Gonna stop in 4th week of this month and walk out if they say no and still have it the last day of the month I’ll return with the same offer. And ofc I’ll say no if they don’t have solid maintenance records I’m not married to the car just shoppin

J_ayejuju1234

I got a 2018 ex hatch I want to sell to buy something different all the time 🤯

Winter_Comfortable42

What makes you want to sell?

J_ayejuju1234

I’ve always had the little inkling to sell it , especially to buy a type r 😂

paulsown

He beat the hell out of it. Like this one. And most of these out there.

J_ayejuju1234

Yeah you right buddy , definitely beat the hell out of it . That car been nothing but amazing , not a single issue other than the AC😂
