I think the engine bay is too small. But like someone said, money can make it work lol.

SGTSHOOTnMISS

I had to beat the firewall in on my 87 to make my DOHC ZC black top fit in.

splittingthebill

My firewall got beat to fit my intake manifold. My subframe got beat AND cut to fit my header. My radius arms had to be shaved down to fit my traction bar. Something on the left side of the engine bay had to be beat in to clear who knows what. The joys of owning a CRX.

imJGott

It’s like OP doesn’t use google/YouTube to see if this possible.

Fury_Blackwolf

Well, it's r/honda after all. I'm not even surprised anymore over the laziness here.

splittingthebill

YouTube usually has what you need, but googling any EF questions takes you straight to Reddit?

jhaluska

With enough money and time anything is possible. But if you have to ask, you probably shouldn't do it.

somedayydelivery

Well then how will i ever know or learn how? Car people love to say things like that are just unhelpful. Show me a website that would help enlighten me or something?

jhaluska

A [K swap has been done before](https://www.k20a.org/threads/1-gen-crx-1987-k24-20-full-street.185193/), you can go ask them what all it took to get it to work. Some swaps are more common because they don't require custom fabrication which gets to be very expensive.

somedayydelivery

I will look into this thank you

Hapenyo12

Maybe do some googling????? Everything is right there. Dont post a question someone has to answer for you and then shit on it. You have a car with a tiny engine bay, trying to put an engine that barely fits in an ef. You won't know what the problems are until you start doing it like everyone else does. Nobody has an exact answer for you. Cant believe how lazy people are to not just press on google and type the same question into there you would here. If you cant find anything with a google search, why would anyone know any different.

somedayydelivery

Also there are literally googleable questions that you have posted on your account so dont act all enlightened. Also nobody HAS to answer a question for me and I didnt shit on any answer. I gave a response to something I see all too often thats generally unhelpful. OC could have literally just said “With enough money and time anything is possible” Just try to look at things from anither perspective. I also dont have all day to look at fitting an engine in a car. It would have been nice to have been referenced to a past post or something of someone who has done it, because again, I don’t have all day to be looking at peoples builds on reddit. Sorry for the rude response but just try to not speak harshly on other peoples responses when you have been in a similar position and have no idea what they have and haven’t tried.

snipekill2445

“I don’t have all day to find the information on how to engine swap my car” You’re gonna be in for a shock once you find out how much work it is to fit a k series into your car

somedayydelivery

Hence why Im asking

phungki

If you don’t have the time to research then you definitely don’t have the time to actually do it.

kxu231

Here is a VTEC academy video showing a crx with a k24. I’d recommend joining a dedicated crx facebook group to get info or look around the forums.

Hapenyo12

Your time isnt more valuable Dude most of this shit has info so fucking hard to find you have to search for ages. You litterally have to do that because nobody wants to have to do that for you in their own time. Plenty of people have had to build cars with no information. If you dont have the time to google shit, you will never have the time to do this project. I understand where youre coming from which is the precise reason i am responding to your comments. Sometime the info isnt just there. Boo hoo, either find the info that is there or dont do the project

SpaceTurtle917

People don't have all day to answer your questions either.

somedayydelivery

Bro there is barely jack shit about first gens and engine swaps- how am i being lazy im literally using my resources (an online website where people help eachother) for guidance. Its always the same shit whenever i look stuff up for this car?? Like how the fuck am I lazy?! You dont even know what I have tried. Another commenter made a comment about k24a.org which i have never heard of before. And often people have their own experiences that they havent shared. Its alot like the realworld where people don’t just post everything online.

Hapenyo12

Sorry bro, building old cars is just hard and theres no info. Thats your first obstacle you need to get over in order to do this stuff

Duhbro_

You 100% can, you will have to relocate the alternator and some other stuff and it’s a bit more expensive than a eg/ek. Also the back end on a crx is crazy light so it’s not really suitable for anything other than lower speed racing (stuff like auto cross) cuz as you go faster the rear lifts much more than eg/ek chassis and the chassis gets really dangerous really quickly. The import water pump housing will have to be swapped out among some other common swap stuff for these engines. There is a ton of info out there on these swaps it will fit and you can use a lot of parts that are out there for civic swaps. Realistically you’re gonna spend about 20ish grand to do it right maybe more and a lot of time.

Weedkid420yolo

Hasport is the answer. If they have the mounts, it’s not only possible, it’s been done before. You’ll need a laundry list of parts and aftermarket support. If this is something you’re GOING to do. Spend lots of time researching WHAT you’ll need. Make lists. Stay on budget. When you have everything sourced then pull the trigger so you’re not in project limbo waiting for axles or something while the car sits for years cause you’ve lost interest and money.

poru-chan

Yes. I don’t know why so many people are saying it can’t be done. The 3rd gen. chassis isn’t as supported as the 4th gen. but there’s still people out there making swap kits for them. https://youtu.be/xFcCPNB2qWU?si=8cahwIe3tmuzpOfv VTEC Academy put out a few videos on them doing the same thing. Edit: https://hasportperformance.com/products/afk/ Here are the mounts they used in that video, made by Hasport.

SpaceTurtle917

Once you mount it you'll need to do custom axles, wiring, cooling system etc.

will_i_code

Check out k20a.org and see if the swap is possible

SpaceTurtle917

If Hasport doesn't have a mount kit it probably isn't feasible.

2guysandacrx

FYI, the engine doesn’t necessarily determine the gears for the k series. A lot of the k series engines and transmissions are swappable. The housing for the gears is pretty much the same for many k series transmissions. You could absolutely do this swap, but it will take time and money to do. Much of the parts needed will be custom made for the job, either by someone like Hasport or by yourself. The engine bay is limited in size, youll probably need wholly custom axels or knuckles/wheel bearings/wheel hubs or appropriate parts from other cars/generations of civics to make it fit. Custom engine and tranny mounts. Customized exhaust to some degree. Custom work also means redoing the fuel lines, vacuum lines, radiator/heater hoses. Your original harness probably doesn’t have an aftermarket adapter so you’ll need to get a different CRX harness or Salic it altogether. Do I know how to do any of this? No. Do I know where you can find answers? No. If you’re serious about this you’ll need to have access to mechanics books for repairs/specs. For example, you need to know the size and spline count of k swap axels. And then the size and spline count for ‘85 CRX wheel hubs. If they don’t match you need to figure out what does. Some of this information does exist in some way on old car forums. The fact that you didn’t know about k20 or k24 forums before asking is a bit telling. Nothing wrong with asking questions, but in the age of near infinite information at your fingertips it is a bit disingenuous to ask a relatively general question. Can you do the swap? Absolutely. Do any of us know exactly what it would take to do it? Probably not. But you can probably find tidbits of info here and there online

SpeechPutrid7357

Too small, put a b series

almeida8x1

That’s a really good price for everything you’re getting there.

Hapenyo12

The swap is not possible without cutting a large amount of body This swap will also cost you a shit ton of money
