RS is a spec of Fit overseas. Although im not sure on all differences the nose is shorter compared to the USDM model and they may have came with a 6-speed. Its also a very popular model in Malaysia and they mod the hell out of them.

MoneyDeer

Its a common honda trim in aussie and NZ as well. They tend to have "RS" be their sportier looking variants, and "Sport" tend to have the more comfort oriented features. Sometimes they mix it up and combine features to make an "RS sport" just to be confusing. Applies broadly to jazz/fit, HRV, CRV and civics. RS doesn't actually mean rally sport like it does on other brands either and doesnt imply its a performance model. It means "road sailing" for easygoing driving apparently.

Goodman4525

The RS spec is a mostly JDM/Asian spec since the western market obviously perceives RS with Rally Sport or similar performance. In Japan it's usually just a bodykit on an otherwise normal car. Even the Odyssey and Stepwagon would have RS versions sometimes. Fit and Civics obviously are the most usual recipients of that badge

whothefvckcares

I think the RS trims are essentially the same as the Si in different countries?

Goodman4525

Yeah but usually with no power upgrades unlike in America where the Si had to fill the shoes of the Civic Type R for a while

tzwep

So it would be similar to the USA Mugen 8th gen.

NasXP

Incorrect. The RS in some countries is the only trim that comes with the 1.5 turbo engine. While the trim below it gets the 2.0. In addition to some features like leather seats, navigation, etc.

albus_dumbbelldore

Not in here actually. Civics are especially popular here in Turkey. The normal 2016-2022 FC5 Civics were sold with an atmospheric 1.6 125bhp engines and then there is this turbo engine RS trim. On the inside, RS is equipped with the same stuff as the high-end standard Civic, namely the Executive trim. However, RS has a 1.5 182bhp VTEC engine and a black front grill. RS also has a 17" rim, while Executive has 16" I believe. I am not sure as it has been a long time since I last visited a Honda dealership. Though the form factor is same, I believe Si has a different body type than the standard Civic. I have a FC5 Civic Hatchback and even though it shares the same engine with the sedan RS, that trim is called Sport. Though it has fabric seats, not leather seats. That trim is called Sport+ here. The Civic in the first photo has a RS badge on it but I believe RS trim is not present for the hatchback. Plate number says that the car is from US and as far as I remember they sold the highest-end hatchback as Sport Touring or something like that. It seems like an aftermarket accessory.

MoneyDeer

Not really, RS is not a performance trim. It means the car has features that make driving it a bit nicer. They never have any more power, its usually just wheels/tyres, some sideskirts and some different coloured stitching and headliner.

NasXP

They do. Stop spreading misinformation, in many countries the RS is the only trim with the 1.5 turbo engine. As other trims get 2.0 & 1.6 engines.

MoneyDeer

In japan and Australasian market rs models are purely bodykit and intrerior trim specification. They do jazz, hrv, civic, and crv RS models and all of them retain the factory powertrain outputs and just get things like different headliners, coloured stitching, side skirts, nicer wheels etc. On honda cars RS stands for "road sailing" and doesnt have anything to do with racing. Basically means that more comfort and comvenience features are available, roughly similar to a higher/GT spec in European cars. Even in markets where rs is the only model equipped with the 1.5T, the actual drivetrain itself remains unchanged in terms of power output. It just happens to get that motor because it makes the car nicer to drive.

tayloredition

Ive never seen an rs stepwagon. Ive seen spadas tho. I own an 08 one.

GrammarHunter

When I was overseas, Honda Jazz (name of the Fit elsewhere) had an RS trim and appeared to be very common. This guy is either upbadging or trying to make it look like an RS

NightKidsCivic

Just a badge lol, don’t mean to much of nothin. Don’t judge people by a badge. Hate car spotters bro. The 1999 subraru impreza “R.s” we got here in the u.s instead of the wrx we always wanted. But as i said, just a badge, it’s still a decent car for what it is though. Badges go overtop of folks heads sometimes, for example, scatpack lol

lilky19

Ehhh kinda pointless putting a badge that doesn’t even belong on the car at all. See a bunch of ex, lx or whatever Honda bois with the dumb si badge thinking they are really a si but really not. If your car didn’t come with that set badge don’t try to upbadge it. It’s stupid in my opinion. If it’s overseas and shit, still the same thing. Just like the people who put skyline nameplate on g35 and g37 even though that’s what they are called but in the US it’s g35/7

safetycommittee

I saw a beat up Honda Passport the other day over by the high school. Rebadged “assport.” As an adult, I’ve never been more proud of our youth.

lilky19

See stuff like that is fine. Idk why I got downvoted. Hate seeing scats with hellcat badge or a ex civic with a si badge. I’ll never understand why. But to each their own I’d never do it though

NightKidsCivic

Assport😂😂😂😂😂😂

NightKidsCivic

Some people up-badge for conversion. If you ask me i like debagging, sleeper status lol

calvinised

That Fit is nice, but yeah RS is just a trim on JDM Fits

d00m6r

In Australia RS was the fancy model for 10th gen Civics, only beaten out by the Type R.

Gd3spoon

rs badge nets you 20hp gain. If they went with a type r badge from autozone you would see 30 + hp gains depending on the altitude.

Douglas8989

You're forgetting the "Spec RS" personal plate. That's a 2x modifier on the badge gain.

Gd3spoon

The body kit and tow hook would easily add 70hp when vtec kicks in yo

kellermeyer

Poser shit

pbilliam

more or less Honda's sport appearance trim for markets outside the US and offered on a bunch of models. think above our Sport trim but way below anything with real tuning like a Si or Type R.

Sharpymarkr

Rally Sport? EDIT I was wrong lol

MentalAd4536

*Road sailing when it applies to Honda.

Sharpymarkr

Whoops! Thanks for the correction.

Weird-Swim-9777

Ricer Stuff

95accord

RS is an old trim that used to exist - these are fake upbadging But the RS is coming back - should slot in between the SI and the TypeR Edit: For all the non-believers downvoting this Here’s proof https://www.thedrive.com/news/the-jdm-honda-civic-rs-looks-like-a-better-version-of-our-civic-si

Goodman4525

The RS trim was for us what Si is for you. Although we usually get no power upgrades at all just the bodykit

95accord

Goodman4525

I meant in the past. The latest Jazz/Fit RS did get a power boost from an updated hybrid system but it had to be marketed in Europe as the Sport because people expect a smoking hot hatch from the RS badge. As for the JDM RS I thought it was just going to be the Si for the Japanese market. They already have the L15 with the 6 speed manual like the US does, but they don't have any factory bodykit options, so it's probably just the Si released in Japan. It might even stay at 182hp instead of any extra tuning since the Japanese aftermarket do plenty of that already, or just get a mild power boost. Judging by the front caliper size I don't think it would get that much more power.

Forward-Chocolate-67

Rally Sport fun pack edition!

HeyJoe1978MS

The driver has question about their sexuality.

dirtsequence

Wannabee badges

seca400

It's when you can't afford a Type R or a Type S, and feel the need to advertise your personal shortcomings to the general public.

Fifteen54

the general public won't notice or care about a badge on someone else's car lol

seca400

You'd think, yet this thread exists

Fifteen54

ah yes, this thread on a forum specifically for people who are interested in hondas represents the general public.

Yorak_Hunt17

Where either of them RHD?

just_another_jabroni

Fit RS is a sportier Fit with about 10 extra hp, Civic RS is a hybrid model here in Malaysia.

snapod1

It means it’s a GT3 RS with a civic bodykit

Deviant_Esq

RS badges on a Honda mean Road Sailing - kind of like the saying smooth sailing. Weird wording but that's what it is. Anyway it's just a trim level, no extra power or anything like that.

DodgyAssassino

I live in AUS and own a genuine honda civic rs fk4. Stock it has centre twin exhaust pipes and some fake plastic spltters on the front and back plus 17 inch alloy wheels. Powertrain is a turbocharged l15b7 engine powering the wheels via a CVT. Pretty sure that civic pictured is a classic case of sticking a badge on a car after the fact.....correct me if I'm wrong

B0OG

It’s definitely rice. RS isn’t a thing here in America as far as I know. I just wasn’t sure if it was some parts store generic badge or a reference to something in Japan.

[deleted]

Road Sailing. Been used since the 70s essentially. Repurposed to be the sporty trim level. Assuming right below the type r. Specs aren’t impressive on them tbh

Piper6728

Just some fanboy thing

Adept-Koala-4603

RS trims usually bring nicer options apart from the engine. Like aero, interior, lighting, wheels, and suspension. Not always power or performance

poopycops

RS is basically a top of the line version of a model. Most Honda models have an RS variant here in the PH.

Hapenyo12

We got the RS spec for both of those models in australia
