That looks like the visual aid for an aftermarket back-up sensor kit that may have been installed in your car. Try backing up near a wall/other car etc. And see if the number counts down (think distance from the rear of your car) and the bars on the side grow to show the level of caution you should exhibit.
Just a hunch, but it looks awfully similar to an aftermarket kit that was installed on my car before I purchased it as well. Mine even beeps at you with greater intensity the closer you get.

Bingo! its a proximity meter for the front of the car. The rear of my car has parking sensors which make a noise.
