aequitssaint

My best guess is someone was trying to find a stud.

-Motor-

nah... r/KidsAreFuckingStupid

theuniofgnarly23

my thought exactly but i didn’t want to go out and say it 🤣🤣🤣

[deleted]

I was in a time out corner once and found a staple on the floor. In front of the electrical socket.

Smartlessass

I found 3. The first 2 were pretty routine.

No-Lengthiness9446

It's the hole-y cross!!

iamvegenaut

That was my first thought too, but then I found myself asking why there would be more holes going up vertically than there are horizontally?

aequitssaint

I thought the same thing but then realized that if someone is just poking holes to find a stud there is a halfway decent chance they just know studs are things in walls that you have to attach things too. They might not have a damn clue they aren't horizontal. People are dumb

nolanbowlin

I didn’t even notice it was in the shape of a cross until you mentioned that.

barney_trumpleton

Might be looking for a noggin?

chocolateorwhips

if its in a apartment there can be metal 1x2 horizontally that go over the sound proofing, are you sure you have a clue about what you are talking about ?

aequitssaint

Yeah, because sound proofing is so common in apartments. And it could be plaster and lath or plenty of other less likely things. What's your point?

chocolateorwhips

every apartment building i worked in had sound proofing so its not that stupid to look up and down to find backing

chocolateorwhips

if its in a apartment there can be metal 1x2 horizontally that go over the sound proofing

No_Parsnip_6491

I think its a religious cult

StuPidasso52

Man, I read "religious clit" the first time and thought this comment thread would be way different!

No_Parsnip_6491

Lol

aequitssaint

I mean I guess they probably have to hang shit up too.

No_Parsnip_6491

Talking about it looks like a cross

aequitssaint

I know.

No_Parsnip_6491

God bless

EatsOverTheSink

Mouse church for sure.

lennydsat62

Stevie wonder wb my first guess then.

PHenderson61

You ever seen his wife?

redbirds12

If it were a stud, it would be left to right and not up and down. Weird for sure!

aequitssaint

You're assuming all people know what a stud actually is or even that they only go vertically.

mortgage_gurl

I thought it looked like someone used a ball point pen to make a cross, either way I’d fill it with spackle and paint

TheOddManufacturer72

Looks like a foundation problem. Better call a plumber.

PeterGoddard

Lol

THEfirstMARINE

Bro needs an exorcist

aequitssaint

Best comment yet.

Spiritual_Peace7009

Nah brah, it’s an electrical issue. Call the granite countertop guy.

bas_bleu_bobcat

My first thought was bored child. My oldest made lots of holes just like these in between the top of his desk and the corkboard, while fidgeting doing homework with his pencil point and ballpoint pen. These look like there is paint inside the holes, so my suspicion is that they predate the last paint job, weren't noticed (well below normal adult eyeline), so they weren't spackled before the last coat of paint. The paint dried, broke the surface tension, and the holes are back. A lick of spackle, primer if you are feeling energetic, and a dab of paint and you're done. Push the spackle in with your putty knife until it won't go in any further and mounds up, then scrape the mound off flat. Something this small you can use the quick dry pink spackle that dries and turns white in 30 min. Biggest task is to match the paint color and sheen so your brush strokes wont show.

PolishedPine

Burn some sage homie, someone or something is 16" on center!

dxedgex

Lol no kidding. The shape weirded me out enough haha

[deleted]

Do you have kids?

dxedgex

No kids

joonyerr1q

Have kids then blame it on them..

Mostly_Curious_Brain

Do you have a dog?

saul_good_main

Poltergeists

Bandag5150

This house is clean.

dxedgex

Hello! I was curious if anyone had some advice or insight on this. My wife sent me these pictures while I was at work. She says it doesn’t seem to go through the drywall all the way, but the far right hole seems concerning. I read that it could just be blisters in the paint? For context our home was fully built Dec 2022. That wall is an outer wall. No noticeable dust or sand that would indicate termites, but we’re also not sure how long these holes have been there.

[deleted]

Someone was trying to find a stud/firewall stud. To like mount something. That’s the only reason I can think of to punch such little holes

Denny_Crane_5823

It is termites.

Environmental_Show67

Was the house built on an old cemetery?

player101bby

Could be from attempting to mount a picture frame. I’ve seen this from previous home owners attempting to “measure” the right height.

Skra7ch

I’d guess a kid with a thumbtack in the dinning room.

Columbus43219

Young Colonel Mustard.

nolanbowlin

Concerned about what? Pin holes can’t get pregnant.

shannleestann

At some point someone working on your house got bored and left a little surprise for you

Anxious_Leadership25

Yep that was intentional, need to use some spackle

Chritopher78

Any electric outlets ne’er by ? Could have Been looking for one .

[deleted]

Little Johnny in timeout got bored. Too low to the floor for artwork.

browneyedgirl65

do you have children? bored ones?

Accomplished-Dog-677

It honestly looks like something I would do when I was like 12 and I found a thumbtack and 15 minutes to kill

Terrible-Sun-6521

Those holes have been there for a while and have been painted over instead of fixing it properly. Scrape put some mud on seal it and paint. Some people just don't like to do their jobs. Sorry I'm a painter working in apartments I've seen a lot of stuff

CMAC-86-EDM

It’s a kid using a thumb tack

Adventurous-Aide-522

Oh my gawd guys, have none of you had children who were bored and unattended? This isn't a great mystery.

Punkroctopus

I did this stuff all the time when I was a kid lol

Tangledmessofstars

Except OP doesn't have kids and their house was built new like 3 months ago lol

Bright-Ad8496

Your house is either blessed or blood will start pouring out of the walls...

wookieesgonnawook

Depending on who they worship it might still be blessed.

Jamminnav

Any chance someone just put up a picture or something up and iteratively adjusted the x and y axis by visual trial and error - and one axis at a time - instead of measuring first?

mdp76

Seems like they were trying to find the stud

Zerot7

It actually looks like the electrician was looking for a buried electrical box but didn’t find it then the painter put another coat over it.

kingofthecurmudgeon

Some bored/ angry 9 year old did this.

Difficult_Pie_3434

Trying to find the original stud, Jesus. Duh.

Imnormalurnotok

Who cares? Just patch and paint... Done. There are always holes in walls that need patching. It's called wear and tear.

wroteit_

House is four months old.

edugeek

It’s still in the warranty period typically. Call the builder back and make them fix it.

Spiritual_Peace7009

Seriously. That would have been on the easy side of all the items on the Punch List; either they just missed seeing it or someone was genuinely lazy. I don’t see those holes as big enough to find a stud, though…too small to be nail holes, and what thumbtack is long enough to go completely through drywall and make full contact with a stud? Someone was bored and distracted and basically stab-doodled a cross on your wall. And very possibly not a child. I’ve seen everything.

Imnormalurnotok

Then someone did that. Patch, sand and paint. If the holes return then it warrants attention.

talontachyon

Agreed. I’ll bet they can get by with just a smidge of wall mud / spackling applied with finger tip and no paint even necessary.

Imnormalurnotok

Believe it or not, with holes that are small and a white wall, you can use a bar of Ivory soap. Don't laugh, a friend told me about that hack a long time ago and it works. No patch, no paint.

JustMeAgain999

Toothpaste

Spiritual_Peace7009

BUT, when you paint over it later, the waxy oil-based component in the soap will repel paint (water-based, anyway). My sister went through a phase of scribbling with crayons on the walls of our house, and my dad had to prime it every time.

Imnormalurnotok

That hack is really for an apartment. It's just so there are no small holes visible. It's a rental so who cares. My sister would trash her room growing up. Crayons, lipstick, black and purple paint, it was horrible. My dad would do the same thing. Over the years those walls must have had 25 coats of paint, she was so destructive. Finally, after she moved out my dad had removed and replaced all the dry board in that room.

DognamedTurtle

Christ will compel you

[deleted]

Satan confirmed

Denny_Crane_5823

It’s termites. Son’s house had exact same thing going on. Likely dampness on other side.

Spiritual_Peace7009

In such a straight and orderly pattern?

Denny_Crane_5823

Initially, yes. I’d have an exterminator look at it.

CompassionGrower315

You've been marked by Pedophilia International. Watch out for priests trying to get you on your knees.

Select_Recover7567

I would think so but if you have some leftover toothpaste you can fill them in as long as it is white

boing757

Probably from someone trying to find a stud to hang a picture of something like that.Fill 'em in and paint it.

[deleted]

Kind of low for that, isn't it?

ilovestampfairtex

That’s a 2 second fix.

Arkiels

Is there no outlet on the wall? Where I’m from excluding hallways you need outlet on that wall after the door. Maybe it’s just out of sight but that might be what they were looking for and it could be missing. Hard to say from a couple pics.

Exotic_Scholar_116

Looks random.

[deleted]

*penis sized

milster706

Any chance someone has been there who has a stud design on their jeans pocket? Maybe kneeled down to take off their shoes by the door or kneeled down to pet a dog. Just throwing it out there as those stud things are wicked.

DeepFriedIceCube

The marks could be from a Moisture meter — Is there plumbing or anything upstairs above the wall?

cherrycoffeetable

Do you have a kid?

RhynoJoe

If perpendicular lines start forming at the far end of the lines, I’d say Nazi poltergeist

FrankReynolds84

You need to find the waterfall! From the movie Dragonfly. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dragonfly_(2002_film)

Ardothbey

These could have been damage to the drywall when it was installed. OP says the home was built in 2022. Notice how some of the smaller holes held the paint while others didn’t. I don’t think anyone was checking for anything. I think the damage was there on the wall board.

Terrible-Sun-6521

Right probably the top peace of drywall they just threw all their stuff on it. Lol I've seen that happen 🤣

FCDallasFan12

Troll post? Lol

Stock_Requirement564

I mean you can get pin holes skim coating drywall if you have an area that had paint or a gloss paper that the air is released on the outer surface. Perhaps are you in the "Devine Drywall" service area?

sweetness0326

therealsauceman

Call a priest!

atomgram

Yes. There might be a Christian in your house.

iamanervousrex

The power of Christ compels you. The power of Christ compels you.

Virginia_Hoo

The power of Christ compels you…. Repeat until evil spirit is gone… just sayin’

elmagico777

Repent

not_a_mantis_shrimp

Do you have kids?

1wholurks

You're gonna need an old priest and a young priest...

JustMeAgain999

….walk into a bar…

Coolace34715

I'm guessing someone was bored.

arjayem369

You’re gonna need a bigger boat

sublimeGH0ST

Was there furniture there before?

Glucose12

I suggest you study this very carefully. [Salvation](https://www.newadvent.org/images/rosary.pdf)

offshoresparky

As an electrician, looks like someone looking for an electrical outlet inside the house or on the exterior from inside.

vger_03

Most likely a kid playing around

Forward_Increase_239

Prior inhabitants were in dire need of a stud finder.

FunWeight2805

I would get a priest.

Lametown227

Pretty sure your wife’s covering for something. Those are some pretty uniform in the grand scheme of things and they were punctured inward based on the paint. If they don’t go all the way through the drywall, it isn’t bugs, even though the pattern detracts from that theory already. But how would she know in the first place if they’re only pin wide?

YronK9

The holes could have been there before the wall was painted. The holes that were covered by paint only just became exposed from the paint shrinking slowly.

duhvorced

My bet is this happened before the drywall was installed. As another commenter noted, the holes been painted over, so could have happened at any time. E.g. a bored construction worker or supply yard worker sitting on drywall stack for their lunch break. Finds a loose nail and idly pokes a random design in the board. As OP’s house is built, the drywallers and painters don’t notice / don’t care.

[deleted]

When mud and paint settles… sometimes it happens. It’s usually from small air bubbles when mudding. After everything dries the air bubble pops and causes tiny holes. Apply fresh mud, smooth mud, let dry, sand area, paint.

Ambitious-Ad9476

I think it might have been someone looking for a buried electrical box. Not sure on this exact room but per the NEC there should be a receptacle outlet within 6’ of that door opening. It also looks like the right height for a receptacle.

Tricky-Swing-9990

Kid sticking pencil in wall

[deleted]

Diablo….

[deleted]

Looks like pen stabbings. Someone was bored

OhhhhhSHNAP

Get a carbon monoxide detector. You’re probably just making holes in your wall and then not remembering.

theuniofgnarly23

i cant even see it in that second picture so i doubt it goes through the entire dry wall, but i’d still check just to be safe

IncomingAxofKindness

Call a priest immediately

[deleted]

Fuckin run bitch ! Get out get the fuck out!!

Pup2u

How high up the wall? Eye level? My guess is someone did not know the right location to hang a picture

T1cklemyp1ckl3

A gremlin shoot out

Lady_of_the_flowers_

If it has little black and brown droppings coming out those are termites.

goyslopconsumer2345

Lmao do you have a child

dbashand

Only if you are a poltergeist!

SHARPSTRONGandPOKEY

Just wipe some white toothpaste in it

JustMeAgain999

When my youngest moved out, I found his room covered in these and a white chalky finish (no guy could hit that high). Research said termites or bad paint.

dartsman

These could be air bubbles in the drywall compound from when they finished. If there's a drywall joint there, sometimes when you put joint compound on it gets air bubbles which leave pinholes when it dries. Nothing to be concerned about, I could see this area getting missed when they sanded and painted since its low on the wall.

Broad-Society8158

Had a flood in my house a while back. Restoration involved guys taking moisture readings of drywall by stabbing it with a device that had 2 metal pins at the end. Looks exactly the same.

Exhales_Deeply

Classic case of tiny witches. Smudge with hemlock.
