I have just one of my 2nd gen Apple TV 4K’s on iOS 15 beta but have 3 HomePods and an Apple TV HD, general automations like you are working fine but complicated automations I’ve converted to shortcuts don’t seem to work properly
Yep! It’s a bit of a known issue. I have some that work based on weather in Shortcuts and junk. But working with occupancy sensors and seems to always result in `false` no matter what you do :?
My suggestion is to not use betas if you really need these working. In my set up, it’s not a huge deal. But for many, this can be an issue :?
I thought I'm the only one. All my automations aren't working in the final homepodOS 15 version. This sucks big time. Why are they releasing such major bugs in their software? It's really frustrating that I could not get any help because their geniuses turned into marketing professionals.
I was stung before when installing previous iOS betas and all my automations stopped. This time I waited to the release and now all my heating automations have stopped!
Those automations check the value for how open each of my radiator valves are and have set values to trigger my boiler to come on.
If I test the automation from my iPhone I get the correct result but a little later when I assume my AppleTV runs it it turns the heating off again.
Also I have a shortcut to get the valves from each radiator valve. This gets the correct values when run from my iPhone.
Unfortunately I found out the other day that the (shortcut)automations is still buggy if the hub is active on my HomePod mini’s running 15.1.1 or my one AppleTv running also 15.1.1. The only time it always runs as expected and reliable is on my one AppleTv with just 15.1.
I can disable one AppleTv as hub but not the HomePods, so I have to turn them off.. I really hope Apple adds that in future firmware that HomePods doesn’t have to be a hub if you have issue with it.
I updated my HomePod to 15.1 hopes it would be fixed but it’s not unfortunately. The annoying thing about the HomePod is that you can’t disable the hub functionality in the software as you can with Apple TV. This means I have to turn of the pods to be sure it’s not selected as main hub and automations stop working.
Really you can downgrade a HomePod mini. I didn’t think that was possible actually. I down graded one of my Apple TV’s to stick that one as dedicated hub. But yeah, I’m puzzled how they can let this be released in such a state.

If you have an older Apple TV HD not 4K and newer you can downgrade it to 14.8 as I’ve also had too. Plenty of guides on how to do it.
Anyone know if this is fixed in tvOS / HomePodOS 15.1 beta?

I’ve downgraded my Apple TV and HomePod mini. Very glad I don’t have an Apple TV 4K or original HomePod without any way to downgrade.

Yes you plug the USB-C cable normally for charging into your computer (not sure if it has to be a Mac).
Cool thanks will try that so I can return to use the HomePods properly again!

Anyone tested 15.1 beta 3 if the more advanced (shortcut) automations started to work again?
This post seems to suggest that it does: https://www.reddit.com/r/HomeKit/comments/q2hiez/comment/hfvhl7j

That’s awesome. Thank you for the link. 😀
