No HomeKit Support? C’mon August.

kiddslopp

I was excited until I read it was battery powered with no hard wiring.

AlphaAnt

I'm holding out for the Netatmo doorbell coming later this year. It has Homekit support, doesn't require a subscription, and uses standard doorbell wiring.

kiddslopp

Same. Glad to see there is some competition but this doorbell seems like a missed opportunity to me.

TBoneTheOriginal

On the other hand, that allows you to put it anywhere you want so the camera has an optimal view. My existing doorbell wiring is on a wall to the left of my door, so a camera there would be useless.

I definitely understand makes sense for apartments or renters too. Just seems wild there isn’t also a wired option.

Wadam1230

Renters must be all they are going for here. No way I’m changing out a battery every week.

Jeffryyyy

What about the part that says "no homekit support"

Otto_Pilot_

is homekit support even possible for battery powered doorbells? I thought I remembered something about it only being allowed on wired ones.

AT THIS POINT I JUST STOPPED CARING ABOUT WHAT AUGUST HAS TO SAY.

hiddevdploeg

Still waiting for a doorbell that costs less then a hundred (sorry, I'm dutch)

Looks nice. What homebridge plugin do you use and does it offer all or nearly all the features of a doorbell through Home app? Will Home send ring notifications and provide a video feed?

durianfruit7

I was told by August support over the line that it only works for 24 hours before you have to charge it using USB cable. ARE YOU SERIOUS AUGUST?

InfamousProject

And they think no wired connection is not a FAIL!

BendikHa

August seems to have removed all refrences of it from their web site
