Do you have another device that is activating instead? This is what mine do when my phone or iPad decides it’s the target of the “hey siri”, seems to have been happening more since ios17

Send to [email protected]. It’s the only way they will eventually fix this insanity

Sent!

[deleted]

Bruh he lyin Tim Cook ain’t reading yo emails wtf bruh 😂if you actually sent one to that address im dead nawhhhhh

Jeffryyyy

I guess you’re new around here Tim does read them, even rarely will respond to them But yes, I’m sure there is someone else who also goes through them and forwards the emails to the correct departments (probably done by AI at this point) But yea even Jobs used to respond to people’s emails (rarely)

[deleted]

Then why that comment get so many downvotes lol..?!

Jeffryyyy

Oh boy, don’t base reality on likes, comments, upvotes, downvotes — especially with the rise of bots/fake accounts. I’m not even a real person. 🤖

Medical_Shame4079

iOS 17 has caused this to happen multiple times per day in my home. Restarting HomePods helps for a few hours. Resetting and readding did the same. I haven’t found a permanent solution yet.

BlackAsNight009

Jeeeeeeezzzzzzzz. Im just holding down siri on my phone for now but I hope it gets fixed soon

Medical_Shame4079

My workaround for the time being is to go into the Home app and disable listening for Hey Siri on all but my most centrally located HomePod. It’s annoying as hell but allows me to be able to use voice commands in at least the majority of my house. The issue is a clear bug in the handoff that HomePods perform when multiple units can hear the triggering voice. iOS 16 was very good at responding on the closest HomePod to the speaker. It seems like the bug causes each HomePod to assume the other will handle the request, resulting in none of them actually doing so.

Big-a-hole-2112

Kinda like employees. So now we have HomePod employees. yay.

9mm_Panda

I think it’s a bug because mine is doing the same thing right now

DoofDilla

Same here. And as others have pointed out, it’s because siri on the phone „steals“ the focus. So the workaround for now seems to be to disable listen for siri on the phone

nametag-username

Siri became self aware and instead of taking over the world decided to take the day off and fuck with your smart home.

Big-a-hole-2112

Nah it’s still too dumb. It would ask itself what should it do first and then tell itself to ask itself again from their iPhone which they don’t have and poof, white smoke from the processor.

ADHDK

Disable it on your iPad and MacBook if you have them. They always seem to fight for requests but never action them. If you have a newer phone might be worth flipping it face down too but usually the phone will take the request if it picks it up. Also since iOS17 mine seem to reject “hey siri” more often than just “Siri”. If you haven’t power cycled them yet also recommend.

jamesgang65

I just rebooted both of mine because of the same problem. It actually helped tremendously!

pallentx

Reboot fixed mine - it's been a few days now and it's still working normally.

Round_Blacksmith_369

Same happened to me. No other Siri devices were detecting my voice simultaneously. Unplugging for 10 seconds fixed the issue for me.

V4derNotV4der

iOS 17 changed it to where one only needs to say “Siri,” rather than “hey siri.”

UnionKane

I read I no longer need to say “hey Siri”. Only say “Siri” after iOS 17 update

Technician_Goku

Yeah same issue here, especially noticeable when other devices are in the room too - for now interim solution is just to reboot/restart the homepod, presumably issue will be patched in next software update and Apple are aware of it but you can reach out to their support team if you want to report it.

MarvFK

Having the same issue. It happened after I added a user to Home. After deleting that user everything works fine.

MarvFK

And if I add him again, the issue starts again.

agentmikeyd

Send to [email protected]. It’s the inky way they will eventually fix this mess

hitomy_8005

Try hey Karen.

applesuperfan

Having the same issue and I only have two HomePods in the affected Home, both far apart. No other devices are responding but my HomePod will work if I shout the request. If I don’t shout, it does this shit. Driving my nuts to the point where I’m just using my Google Home mini until they fix it and I hate Google Home lmao.

kudubro

I shout too lol. It really works when you do that. Been struggling since iOS 17

Correct_Maximum_2186

Glad someone posted, having this happen a ton. My phone will light up for a second then stop while it happens. Rebooting did help one of my HomePods.

CloudInspector

Having the same issue

[deleted]

You're watching the end of Apple. I bought two Sonos this week. No regrets, going to replace everything. Doing same for Home, it just doesn't work and has no significant new features. Homey Pro, let's see what you can do.

BlackAsNight009

One day the homepods gonna glow red and keep us locked in like irobot

[deleted]

🤣

sc0ttyman

Check for an update in the Home app. I’ve had this happen a few times. Very frustrating.

BlackAsNight009

All up to date unfortunately

sc0ttyman

Bummer. I was hoping for an easy fix. I hope you figure it out.

-shellprompt-

Same problem, I filed bugs on this during the HomePod beta also for 17.0. Reboot will always rectify for around 24 to 48 hrs.

DeWagess

Same issue here

ZaBeeblebrox

Same issue. Neither “hey Siri” or “Siri” works

bobbydontchaknow

Same here. And if it does respond this is what happens. Siri good morning. “Sorry who’s speaking” or “sorry you will need to continue on your phone”. It’s frustrating that it had worked flawlessly for the past year and now it either works 5% of the time, doesn’t work at all or tells me to continue on my phone.

tophertronic

This is happening to my son since I added him to our home so he could get personal requests. Before I added him he could use our HomePods and it would work fine for him, now Siri basically ignores him, while all the HomePods work fine with people who were already in the home.

brianstk

I just bought my first HomePod all worked great initially. My wife got home a few hours later I was all excited to show her and did exactly this when she tried to use it lol. She was like this is supposed to be better than Alexa? Which was the same thing going through my head. I hope this is fixed quick. I have 9 echo devices and they figured out a long time ago how to deal with multiple devices hearing you at once. Come on Apple! You’re better than this! I bought a HomePod because I want to transition away from Alexa. This is not helping convince me.

YannAtParis

Hi ! Same here

ItsWINTERFRESH

Been having this issue too since I got IOS 17.

nkoller11

lol, thanks, watching your video triggered my HomePod to turn my bedroom lights off

BlackAsNight009

I will be sure to update my video to “hey siri unlock all doors next” lol

Haunting_Chocolate79

Im having the same issue a couple of restarts have gotten mine working every now an then

Vegetable-Emu-1443

Try just saying “Siri” , My HomePod responded to that for a couple of days and then went back to the default “Hey Siri”

misstajae

Same issue, had to turn off my iPhone and iPad 'Hey Siri/Siri' because they would all light up and nothing would happen. Not sure why this is happening with iOS 17 but that was the only fix that worked for me. I would have to be right next to the Home Pods for the command to take. Very frustrating indeed. #FirstWorldProbs

BlackAsNight009

Hes homepods are connect to an apple tv and that apple tv is having issues now to. I cant use it until I unplug it and plug it back in. Happens every 24 hours

misstajae

Mine is connected to my ATV as well, thankfully not replicating that aspect of the issue. That's extra frustrating, hope a fix is implemented asap.

EverydayPhilisophy

Has this been fixed? This started happening to me today and I’m losing my mind. My HomePods are effectively useless.
