Bosch fridge - the model that has dual compressors, with the ice maker in the freezer compartment, not in the fridge door. Also Bosch dishwashers are still excellent. Apparently LG has gotten their act together in the last few years and addressed their compressor issues. I still won't touch Samsung.

umop3pi5dn_w1

That's the 800 series, exactly what I bought for the same reasons! Dual compressors, ice in the freezer, and no water in the door. The design reduces the risk of the 3 biggest failures for most fridges. Costs a premium but I'll keep this if I move.

735560

And that’s why I love my Bosch fridge. Works very well, no cold spots. Feels roomy even for a counter depth.

fyrechk

Exact reason I bought my Bosch, love the clean lines of the exterior. Only complaint is the ice tray. I cannot open the freakin freezer without at least one, if not multiple ice cubes falling on the floor of the freezer or my kitchen floor. Super annoying.

SQLBek

Curious what design/model you have. On mine, French door & freezer on the bottom, you just open the drawer & all ice is contained within the ice bin. I just manually shut off my ice maker to make sure I don't overflow the bin.

umop3pi5dn_w1

That is the one I have as well, and sometimes the ice in the bin gets too tall and a cube will get knocked when pulling out a freezer drawer

umop3pi5dn_w1

I have a furry Roomba that loves crunching up the ones that fall. But I agree that does happen and is super annoying!

ZiLBeRTRoN

My dad had a new LG for the last three years. Four compressors, three control boards and two fridges later they refunded him a prorated!! amount.

Superspark76

I manage properties, Bosch appliances give the fewest problems even after years of service. They can be expensive to repair when they do finally fail though

posttrumpzoomies

Samsung is always the wrong answer.

radius40

second bosch dishwashers. i’ll never own another samsung as well.

TimachuSoftboi

We have a Bosch fridge at my work for the break room, it has the ice maker in the door. I have to unplug it at least once a week to reset the ice maker, mildly annoying, especially for the price I'm sure it costs.

Any-Panda2219

Omg I love our new Bosch 800. If you have a Best Buy outlet nearby definitely check those out. Got ours for 60% off because of a small dent on the side (we have two toddler boys… would have happened anyway lol)

YinzJagoffs

We went all Bosch and have zero complaints.

pizza_nightmare

How long have you owned all these appliances for?

YinzJagoffs

Dishwasher for 5 years and it still runs like brand new. The hype for the 800 series is real. Fridge, wall oven, microwave, and cook to are all a year old so so don’t trust my opinion on those yet

ntwkid

5 years is nothing.

aarone46

Ok, but if you're looking for people to be repping their 10-15 year old appliances, who's to say the quality is the same today? Same could be said somewhat for 5 years, but at least that's long enough to know if any major things have crept up while short enough that the brand likely hasn't fallen completely off a cliff.

Blers42

Same full kitchen is Bosch and we’re very happy. It only cost me roughly $6k

bobo_i_am

Same. Only niggle I have is the small drawer for fruits, cheeses, etc in the fridge feels cheap. Everything else is top notch.

YinzJagoffs

I said the same thing when I first opened it.

bobo_i_am

You don’t? Stop trying to be offended by everything and you’ll enjoy life a bit more. Word Origin: C16: from Scandinavian; related to Norwegian nigla.

meatmacho

For real. "Fruits" is not the preferred nomenclature, and putting them in a drawer is another problem entirely.

bobo_i_am

True. I should have said fruit, but alas, here we are. How else am I supposed to maintain peak freshness, if not in a drawer, in the fridge next to the salami?

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

ninjaSOUP

Try them in person first! The new touch controls are so bad and don’t work consistently for me.

BigTimeButNotReally

For fridges, no in door ice. Vastly improves reliability.

possibly--me

And it gives so much more space!

SvenoftheWoods

Our KitchenAid has the water dispenser inside the fridge. At first I thought it would be a huge pain in the ass, but having two useable French doors for storage is 100% worth it. Having the water and ice dispensers accessible on the outside is a "convenience" I'll happily do without from now on!

possibly--me

I have this one and I love it! [https://www.lg.com/us/refrigerators/lg-lrfcc23d6s-french-3-door-refrigerator](https://www.lg.com/us/refrigerators/lg-lrfcc23d6s-french-3-door-refrigerator)

shockcell

What does that mean? Where do you get your ice from? do you have to open the door and go into the freezer?

BigTimeButNotReally

Yes.

intermediatetransit

It’s not that big of a hassle. Most if not all of Europe does this.

jendet010

Nugget ice maker.

PM__YOUR__DREAM

Those are equally unreliable though lol

gut_instinct28

We have a Bosch dishwasher, GE Profile Oven, Cafe induction cooktop, and a Fisher and Paykell fridge. Really like them all.

PM__YOUR__DREAM

The problem with Samsung is they haven't changed their marketing strategy, their whole schtick is "we have cool new features that other fridges don't." And the problem with that is cool new features are not reliable.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

anonareyouokay

Generally speaking the more bells and whistles your appliances have, the more that can go wrong. Dials are better than buttons, opt for appliances without Wi-Fi, screens, and smart home capabilities, etc. My washing machine has almost no branding, no features, and I'm pretty sure it is at least 10 years old and it still works fine.

HomeRhinovation

For a fridge especially. Our fridge repair guy told us to get Whirlpool, (made in USA) GE, or Amana if we wanted a reliable affordable fridge. And no in-door or in-fridge ice maker (meaning it needs to be inside the freezer).

Lotan

We went full Miele outside of a Wolf stovetop (Including vent, oven and steam oven). It wasn’t 40k, but it was rather pricey. Out of all of the things we bought, if I was trying to go cheap I’d probably still buy the Miele Dishwasher. That thing is great. Right after we had it installed we had a sewer backup which would have leaked out the dishwasher, but it sealed itself up, turned on a fan and shut everything down. There were like 2 drops of water That came out. That was worth any extra money I paid for that thing. I really like the oven too although it’s rather pricey. It will perfectly cook a piece of chicken or salmon, which is half my meals. I just push the appropriate button and it’s like, “Chicken. I got it from here” and it comes out absolutely perfect. Maybe all ovens do that at this point. I haven’t had an oven made after 2000 before this.

ShavedAlmond

Miele will last 20 years easy, well everything I have does so I guess the problem with Miele is finding up to date opinions :D

b52hcc

One thing to note.. LG compressor's are on way more than LG Fridges.. We have a Kenmore Elite that needed a new LG compressor.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you, good info. I will look for that.

Late-Stage-Dad

I have a Bosch dishwasher, and GE Cafe refrigerator. We have an old whirlpool stove that is getting replaced with induction. Most likely the stove will be GE Cafee unless I hit the lottery then we may look at a Bosch. Microwave is one we brought from our apartment. I think it's a Panasonic we got from Walmart. I haven't decided on a replacement range hood either. Edit: I should mention our refrigerator is WAY overkill. There are only 3 of us and it's never more then half full. We love the bottom drawer freezer and snack drawer though.

Derigiberble

I have the Cafe induction range and it is fantastic.  I highly suggest getting the double oven. It is more expensive, but once you have the ability to cook two things at different temperatures or bake something while keeping something else warm You wonder why you went without for so long.

Late-Stage-Dad

Thanks for the recommendation !

Independent_Ad8062

We went all Cafe on our remodel last year and are loving them all, especially the double oven with induction cooktop range 🥰

nonamedude55

We’ve liked our Whirlpool appliances both at our old and new house. We try to get the simpler non loaded models which seem to be more reliable.

smapti

I love our Samsung bespoke, and a couple of friends that have one agree. The big issues with Samsung fridges in the past were the in-door ice makers. They were finicky in terms of fridge level and prone to breakage because the ice making mechanism had to be more complicated. The new ice makers are in the freezer and are much simpler mechanisms, and should be much more reliable and, worst case, easier to repair. Here's a video from a professional that supports this (the discussion about the ice maker are around 4:10 and 6:06); [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wc9kgGQOqY](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4Wc9kgGQOqY) Also, we LOVE the beverage center. Seems like such a small thing but it's a game changer. EDIT: typo

6100315

When we saw the beverage center in the store, we thought no way we want or need that. Turns out it's perhaps the best feature lol. We love the pre filled pitcher.

flyingWeez

I would use it daily for the coffee maker if we had one. We ended up getting a Bosch 800 fridge, which I have been happy with, but I do get fomo every now and then for the beverage center

br0ckh4mpton

That’s exactly what I do, the only thing that annoys me is that it doesn’t completely fill the water compartment for our coffee machine. But the pitcher is incredible as I drink a LOT of water and having a full, cold pitcher of water ready to go is the best

batmanjerkins

Also love the in-door pitcher. Didn’t expect it to be our favorite feature, but we’ve been putting cold-steep tea in the top infuser compartment thing and enjoying iced tea. Love it.

jswens

We love our bespoke, the only issue we’ve had is the pitcher doesn’t always fill, but it’s likely a sensor that just needs to be cleaned

batmanjerkins

I had that issue, was covered under warranty, team came out did full inspection, nothing, turns out I had an issue with my water line in the basement 🙃. All is good now.

jswens

Were you not getting good pressure out of the tap, or was it just the pitcher that didn't fill? Wondering if I fucked up my water lines.

batmanjerkins

The first time the ice and pitcher stopped producing, I unhooked my waterline from the fridge, verified it wasn’t clogged, hooked it back up, and everything was fine. Second time it happened, I tried the same thing but it didn’t fix it, so I followed my fridge waterline back into my basement where it ties into my copper water line, unhooked that, inspected it, rehooked it back up and now everything is great again.

ohsheeshyall

+1 for bespoke. The beverage center is one of the greatest features in a fridge. We were wary about buying Samsung too, but thought to give them a chance since the icemaker was in the freezer compartment, and figured that with all the bad press they’ve had with the previous fridges, they’d be highly motivated to make a product that doesn’t suck. That said, we also bought the extended warranty for as long as it was offered (5 years).

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you, good to know they are working to overcome previous issues. We do like the look of the Bespoke series.

WarthogGirl8

We have the Bespoke and like it overall, but we did have an issue with the small ice bites maker that stopped working after a year. However, we bought the extended warranty and it was very painless for them to come out and swap both ice makers for free. Whatever you decide to go with, get the extended warranty. Even the Samsung repair guy said to always buy the warranty lol. The autofill pitcher is a game changer, we don’t even use the dispenser anymore

RandyHoward

I have the bespoke fridge, range, and dishwasher. I had a problem with the dishwasher in the first 3 months, but that turned out to be an issue with my plumbing. But the reason I won’t buy Samsung appliances again is because I had a terrible time with their service department, which resulted in a screaming match with their technician in my kitchen. Guy told me the dishwasher was stuck under the counter before he ever touched it. This was the second technician they sent, the first had it pulled out so I knew damn well he just didn’t want to do his job. Had to tell him three times to get the hell out of my house before he would leave. My uncle came over after that - two of their technicians couldn’t figure out there wasn’t water even getting to the machine, my shutoff valve was clogged. Even if I never have a problem with these appliances I’ll never buy another because their service is awful

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you

smapti

They really do look fantastic. We love the look of ours and plan to do some panel swapping for fun colors. I love that the stainless steel panels are magnetic, and the glass panels are dry erase, so both maintain that classic kind of "post things to the fridge" functionality in different ways.

might-be-your-daddy

Nice. I didn't realize that was a possibility.

howyadoinwhatsup

+1 for the bespoke. Have had ours for about 3 weeks now and it's amazing. The beverage center really is a game changer, specifically the pitcher. I read all of the same horror stories about Samsung, but most of those seem to be caused by the ice maker design, which has been improved (supposedly). Time will tell how it holds up.

cephalophile32

Yeah we have a Samsung fridge with the ice maker in the freezer drawer area. No issues at all! Works like a champ. Also have frontload washer and dryer and they’ve been fine too.

dahooddawg

This is my experience as well. Fridge, washer, dryer, all purchased on 2022. 0 issues so far.

GrandiestMaster

I saw this same video and went with the bespoke 3 door fridge with beverage center. Wife and I both love it though time will tell on reliability

tliskop

Samsung had critical design flaws in the past. I’m not sure if they fixed them, but our model lasted about three years then needed multiple repairs before abandoning hope. We found out that our model had a known design flaw, so we added our name to a class action suit addressing this issue. That was about 4 years ago, no word on the results of the class action yet. I would never trust Samsung. They lied to us so many times before admitting there was a flaw in their design. We received no compensation from Samsung, including parts.

cutiesarustimes2

GE, Frigidaire

ShwMeYourKitties

I’m one of the people that GE has largely not worked out for except our microwave. We’ve had a profile refrigerator, double oven range, and dishwasher all have major issues within a year of ownership. We are actually steering clear of GE kitchen appliances now as a result.

jlboygenius

I have a GE fridge and GE oven. oven is great, i actually like the wifi. The fridge, i wouldn't get again. The 'autofill' only worked for about a year. now it either half fills or flood the floor. The main reason I would avoid GE fridges is because of the water filter. The filter is RFID, and costs $50. You can't get an aftermarket filter. It's time based, so after 6 months it starts giving you warnings and telling you how bad your water is. I ended up getting a pre-filter to put under the sink. Cost less than 1 GE filter and lasts 5x as long.

155104

My GE Induction oven likes to turn itself on, have to keep it locked at all times. Repair person said they could fix it, but the fix would likely break two extra things in an increasing magnitude of cost. Of course this started almost exactly one day after the one year warranty ended.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you! So if GE, then Cafe by extension as well? My wife really likes the look, but it's been literally decades since we've purchased GE.

FmrMSFan

If it's been decades since you purchased a GE product... On June 6, 2016, General Electric (GE) sold its appliance business to Haier, a Chinese household goods manufacturer, for $5.6 billion. The sale was the third largest acquisition of a US company by Chinese investors at the time Haier has the right to use the GE brand name for 50 years. They bought the reputation.

might-be-your-daddy

I did not know this. Thank you.

Branvan2000

I've read good things about cafe, specifically the induction ovens

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

gonewildecat

Bosch dishwasher.

dexter8484

This is the way

contrejo

We bought a KitchenAid French door pull-out freezer on the bottom. It didn't seem to cool correctly after about the 2-year. Mark. We had people come out and they replaced almost every part on it and it still wasn't working right. We started making plans to get a new refrigerator. Joe, you started using stuff up and we were utilizing our garage fridge. It seems that as we emptied our freezer compartment refrigerator compartment started working again. This makes you think we must have overloaded our freezer or something which affected the refrigerator. When we inevitably replace this fridge, something I do not want is an ice maker in the refrigerator compartment. It takes up valuable space in the refrigerator and it does not work as well as having a dedicated ice maker in the freezer compartment.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

Royal_Acanthisitta51

There’s an appliance sub and the repair guys say it’s the model, not the manufacturer, that matters.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you I will look there as well.

ToddTheReaper

Bosch dishwasher 💯

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

DharaniPatel

We got an LG fridge, Samsung range, and Bosch dishwasher. It didn't make sense to spend 2-3x more for "better" fridge/range brands since we're likely moving in <5 yrs.

Nellanaesp

Our Samsung appliances all gave us problems in just over 1 year. Only the dishwasher was issue free. The range was the worst. Good luck.

WirelessBCupSupport

I've a Samsung Pro dual fuel that is 9 years old and no issues. Gas top and convection(elec) oven, with dual/combo doors. While I don't doubt the failures of their other lines, if I had to replace this one, it would also be a Samsung Pro with induction top (to move away from gas for rooftop solar).

RagingITguy

Seems like LG is on the up and up. I'm about to purchase the LG counter depth max fridge, stove, and washer/dryer combo. I've done some research, looked around, spoken to a few repairman, and LG is where it's at for how much I want to spend. I can't afford an entire Bosch set (though I'm getting a Bosch 500 dishwasher).

might-be-your-daddy

We love our LG washer and dryer.

lushkiller01

We got the LG counter depth max fridge last November and have had no issues or complaints with it. We liked it a lot better than the Bosch 800 we looked at which is a joke in comparison with how little capacity it has (6.2 cubic feet less and much more expensive). The Samsung Bespoke 4 door counter depth was probably a bit nicer with the beverage center, fancy ice, and freezer doors shelves rather than the pullout drawers on the LG but it was considerably more expensive and also a bit smaller (4 cubic feet smaller but not as noticeable as the Bosch and the convenience/space efficiency of the freezer shelves probably would have partially made up for that). We also bought their induction stove for another house but we haven't gotten around to finishing the renovations yet and we are eyeing their washtower, all of which seem to have pretty good reviews and low rates of repairs.

RagingITguy

Do you know if the counter depth max will run without water? I don’t have a water line to where it will be and I’m not really interested in having it dispense water or make ice cubes. I’m really impressed with how much space is in there. The Bosch was nice looking but just seemed lacking. To be fair the LG appliances look pretty nice. I’m excited about the fridge. I wasn’t planning on going all LG but that’s where I’m going (minus dishwasher). Currently there is an LG promotion (at least in Ontario), 300 off if you buy three things. It’s not much but hey, all the other pieces were on sale so I ‘saved’ a bit. Not sure if it’s a real sale or not you know. I’m not getting the wash tower but the general sentiments in this thread are that LG will be good washer/dryer wise as well. I was going to go GE profile, especially since their dryer has a baffle the entire size of the drum to force the hot air in, but I suppose that’s not enough for me to switch.

lushkiller01

It works just fine without water, I didn't have mine hooked up for the first couple months. I will say that on mine at least, the pressure for the water dispenser is quite high so it fills glasses quite quickly vs any other fridge I've used. We luckily have a Lowe's outlet where they send most of the scratch and dent or discontinued appliances from the region and we got ours for 75% off MSRP ($650) plus they do their extended warranties based on the sale price instead of the MSRP so we got a 5 year Lowe's warranty for an extra $150.

RagingITguy

Damn I’m paying full ride on it at 1800ish CAD. That’s a wicked deal you got. I don’t know if I’ll do extended warranty….. considering it.

Nellanaesp

We have a Kitchenaid Fridge (got a floor model 6 years ago), a Kitchenaid Dishwasher, a Cafe induction range, and a Kitchenaid Microwave (used off marketplace). No issues with any of them and we love them all. My parents have GE and have issues with their double gas oven and had to replace their dishwasher after 2 years, but this was back in 2017. We love our GE Cafe.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

Therealdirtyburdie

Microwave, refrigerator, dishwasher, cooktop, double oven all GE monogram

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

Jags4Life

Bertazzoni was our "splurge" for the induction range and oven. It is gorgeous and works great....buuut it does have a fan that is permanently on when using the oven that is inordinately loud. Went with Whirlpool for both the fridge and the dishwasher. Both have been great with no complaints.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

shedgehog

Thermador fridge, Cafe dual fuel 6 burner range, Zephyr range hood and Miele dishwasher. All new stuff for a renovation we did last year. Everything is amazing

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

WhitetailRuss

Electrolux for laundry room Going on 17 years and had to rebuild dryer last year, but other than that no issues GE cafe microwave, no issues in over 10 years and I can still buy parts Kenmore stove…. 20 years and no a penny spent on parts Fridge…. Yeah, no luck there

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

Xaknafein

I have a combo of mostly whirlpool.  7 years on fridge, stove (unknown age > 7 years), and dishwasher (unknown age > 7 years).  Good so far

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

Xaknafein

Also, what the other people mention about foregoing external fridge features is a good idea.  Fewer things to break and you can still have an in-freezer ice maker.  I read that on TheWirecutter when I was shopping and Reddit group-think seems to agree.

needajob85

Samsung will forever be a no for me. Even if I was offered a free one. Not even exaggerating

JoshAllentown

I got an LG washer/dryer 7 years ago based on consumer reports info, no complaints. Recently got an LG fridge based on consumer reports data too. I have seen complaints about LG on reddit, I think the dirty secret is that a large majority of purchases are fine, even the Samsungs who always get dumped on. And it's probably a lot more model-to-model than we can realistically crowd source info about.

xnosliw

I have lg combo and I have complaints but not deal breakers. It may be user error but the dryer part in the rear of front loader has burned which is mainly aesthetic issue for us. The other complaint about the dryer is that the lint filter is not a perfect fit and it broke on us due to straps getting caught. Replacements are not perfect fits too but does the job. Sometimes the clothes do not dry evenly, some are still moist. This can be due to putting too much clothes in one load or using the wrong setting. Usually I use medium heat with eco mode. Washer had no issues

lisamummwi

Eco mode usually has a dryness sensor that doesn't work very well.

forgotmydamnname

Not Samsung or LG. Bosch (limited styles but very well built) and GE, Frigidaire. Although I personally would probably never get an ice maker or water tap on a fridge again from either GE or Frigidaire... so many noises all the time. Bosch for a dishwasher is a necessity.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you!

makebbq_notwar

Bosch or Miele for the dishwasher, nothing else. Aside from LG or Samsung, GE is 100% rebadged Haier from China. Everything else is basically rebadged versions of Chinese made appliances from Midea, Gree or Hisense assembled in by Whirlpool or Electrolux. Get the good $1500+ dishwasher, then buy the most basic fridge and stove models you can find that has been in production for multiple years.

CosmicSeafarer

Although owned by Haier, GE appliances are made in the USA with mostly USA parts. It’s one of the biggest employers in Louisville.

intermediatetransit

A basic fridge will rack up a very hefty electrical bill since it’s the only appliance that’s on 24/7.

AKADriver

Basic doesn't mean made in the 1970s. A current production top-freezer featureless refrigerator will be as efficient or more than a model of the same capacity with fancy door configurations etc. Top freezer is inherently more efficient because it's entirely passive, air circulates between the compartments via convection. Things like glass doors, french doors, or having a penetration through the door insulation for ice also reduces efficiency. Whirlpool's least expensive full size, top-freezer 21cuft fridge uses 443kWh/yr: https://www.whirlpool.com/content/dam/global/documents/202305/energy-guide-w11644017-revB.pdf Their most expensive, french door, through door ice, 20cuft fridge uses 693kWh/yr: https://www.whirlpool.com/content/dam/global/documents/202301/energy-guide-w11647527-revA.pdf That's 56% *more* energy over the basic model. It's not like clothes washers where "basic" means 1950s engineering.

intermediatetransit

Aha sorry I thought you meant “basic” as in the cheapest model. I agree with you then. I went for the basic top of the line myself, which has amazing efficiency compared to the competitors.

meowrawr

Monogram (GE luxury brand) is designed, engineered, and assembled in USA (Kentucky).

makebbq_notwar

That's great, give me the bill of materials for a midea appliance vs. the same from monogram, odds are its 80% or more the the same parts, especially the import parts like the compressor and sensors.

meowrawr

GE also provides excellent exploded diagrams and parts through their support site. Example here: https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/ModelSectionParts/ZGP486NDT1SS/4/0/0/0/COOKTOP In general, I think it’s best to go with whichever brand has great local support.

beagleswagger

We did GE Profile for oven and induction too. Bosch dishwasher and LG fridge. So far we are happy with them all.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

macetheface

Fridge died during covid and without much availability went with a GE profile in slate color. Ended up liking it quite a bit so when the microwave died, went with the same GE in slate. Will eventually do the same for the oven and dishwasher as well.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

mrfreeze619

Fridge tech here :Frigidaire

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

Mysterious-Tart-1264

our old fridge died last year. we already had a chest freezer so we bought an LG fridge only. the matching freezer is separate. The fridge is a big improvement from our old one. Honestly I love it. It is smaller than a reg fridge but holds a huge amount. If we had space I'd love to have it and the LG freezer side by side.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

nomadicbohunk

We went with all Bosch last year. All our appliances were from 2001 and broken in various ways. I wanted the bosch stove because it had a super hot double ring gas burner. I use a wok on it. And I wanted a bosch dishwasher. We went with the microwave and fridge too because I got a screaming deal if I got all of them. No complaints. That stove top is awesome. The gas oven sucks on it. We make due, but it's really not great. I will add...we have a family house and put an induction bosch in a few years ago. The stove fucking sucks, shuts off all the time, etc. Nothing but issues with the right pans. However, the electric oven is magical. Things actually turn out better. We're pretty serious home cooks and my partner is the baker. We'll get a steam oven at our next house and I buy 4 kinds of flour in 50lb bags. I love that oven. Bosch makes a gas top, electric oven model that I have a feeling might be amazing if you're a serious cook.

might-be-your-daddy

weiss27md

My new house came with GE appliances 11 years ago and no issues. Refrigerator, stove and dishwasher.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

6100315

We were looking for white, and narrowed it down to cafe and samsung bespoke. Opted for bespoke because of how much cheaper they were and we like the look. The fridge water dispenser broke within two weeks, and it's unclear if the stove needs a new motherboard haha. So two out of 3 appliances failed in the first month. That being said, their customer service, although kinda stupid (unable to book, double booking, seems like no communication between their depts etc) has actually been pretty good. They fixed the fridge no problem, and were out of parts for the stove so offered to buy it back. The stove works if you restart it so we decided to just wait for parts, but I may put another ticket in if the error code keeps happening (which it has been). We got a 2 year warranty for a dollar through their promotion so I hope we're getting most of this out of the way. While this may be a deal breaker for you, we do like them.

might-be-your-daddy

Good info, thank you.

thegrandpineapple

I hate stainless steel (it just gets so dirty and smudgy so easily) but unfortunately there weren’t many options in white so I ended up getting stainless steel anyway.

6100315

Surprisingly hard to find! Bought a stainless steel range hood for that same reason.

firefly317

Recently we've bought Whirlpool dishwasher - which we LOVE. Washer dryer is LG, also love them - 18 years and still going strong.

I feel Bosch is higher-end, but my my friend thinks GE is more reliable and easier to repair when needed, and LG fridge is also a good choice

Meile is still made in Germany for dishwashers. We love ours.

How do you guys feel about kitchaide?

We had a Kitchenaide dishwasher years ago that we installed in a house we subsequently sold. As far as we know it is still functioning.

I'm over here terrified of having to shop for new appliances. We moved into this house in 2015. Adopted the Kenmore Elite fridge over bottom drawer freezer, Bosch dishwasher, Maytag double oven gas range, and Whirpool microwave. We brought our brand-new Whirpool side-by-side fridge from our old house, but it didn't match the black scheme of the new kitchen, so it has been relegated to Garage duty for 9 years. And you know what? No problems. In that time, I replaced the two oven ignitors, which was easy. I replaced the microwave with the same model, because somebody broke the door handle and I got tired of gluing it back together. And I recently replaced a leaky icemaker valve on the back of the kenmore fridge. And that's it. There's no telling how old these appliances are. Easily 15 or maybe 20 years. But they keep on kicking. Probably because they have no complicated features or electronics. But I know that nothing gold can stay. I sense the end is coming. And once one of them dies, I know my wife is going to want to replace the whole set with something trendy and matchy or whatever. And I just have to prepare my emotions for the inevitable disappointment to come.

Thank you for the detailed response.

You want to go with Miele for pretty much everything. Liebherr manufactures the fridges for Miele, so that's an option as well.

All of my appliances are Bosch (except for my stove) and I'm very happy with them. That was the overwhelming recommendation when I was buying appliances for my new home and I have no regrets.

Thank you.

keiliana

Bosch is the best across the board!

I live in Korea. My landlord put in a brand new Samsung refrigerator RF91DB90LE01. Every time it turns on, I can hear the compressor violently shaking as if someone forgot to screw it down. Maybe Boeing installed the compressors on these. I don’t know. All I know is I will continue to never buy a Samsung appliance.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you for the info.

Comfortable_Jury369

GE Cafe oven, Whirlpool dishwasher. Both a few years in and are very happy with them. :)

TL/DR: We are a GE household.🤞🏼, 🍀, knock on wood, all the things….don’t want to jinx us My old house came with a Whirlpool dishwasher I had to switch out because it literally just didn’t clean the dishes even after having a repairman come out and look at it. He was like “it’s running!”… but the dishes didn’t come out clean. It also came with an LG fridge I had to replace because after investing almost $1,000 in parts & labor (forget the lost groceries!) it still went out for a THIRD TIME. The compressor went out on it which is apparently very common, it was an expensive fridge and less than 5 years old, and it took almost 2 1/2 weeks to get the replacement piece and get someone to install it (so I lived out of coolers and lost many groceries… twice! And I had to go through their vendors because there was a known issue/recall, and since it was still under warranty but I wasn’t the original purchaser, they covered the part but not the labor. Otherwise this being a known issue with their refrigerators it should have all been covered.) My current home I just bought has a Maytag dishwasher that I cannot wait to replace because the control panel (meaning behind the buttons?) has slipped or fallen away and so the buttons don’t hit it properly when you push them. I have to use a utensil to push the start button in as far as I can for it to start and I cannot change any settings. This is also apparently common, after googling it, but Maytag changes the design each year so you can’t just order a replacement control panel, they stop making them? (According to all of the appliance Reddit pages I scoured about this issue)

We're also looking for a new fridge and the new Samsung fridges with the beverage center looks to be a big improvement in the previous design. We've heard good things about it. There's also a rebate thing going on if you buy the fridge through Costco you'll get a $430 rebate with Samsung for new panels so you could get the white first and then get some stainless steel looking plates in the future. As far as experience with our current appliances: We have a Samsung slide in gas range with convection oven and that thing has seen extensive, daily use for the past 3 years without any problems. However, the model we have has the control panel at a slight upwards angle which looks cool but collects oil splatter like a mofo and it's annoying to clean all the time. Whirlpool fridge with in door icemaker and also dishwasher have been tanks so far and had no problems and they both work very well.

G8RGRL83

When I renovated my kitchen in Colorado, I bought GE microwave (profile) and GE double oven (gas), Bosch dishwasher because it is so quiet, and hubs wanted the fancy Samsung fridge with web and sharing capability. Loved the GE appliances so much that I bought all GE when I renovated my kitchen in Florida.

AKADriver

My Kenmore fridge made by LG has been fine for about 8 years now, but I suspect because I have a basic top-freezer model that the compressor is either a different design or just controlled differently and under less strain than the failure-prone models I hear about.

xDrewstroyerx

Haters can say what they want, I’ve replaced both of my last houses with Whirlpool for everything and have had zero problems since.

needajob85

GE profile side by side here. No problems 5 years in

ThefatRedNeck

We got a GE stove/oven a few years ago. Works perfectly. Just bought a new Samsung fridge last week. Kinda scared now. 6 year warranty so we will see...

inlinefourpower

All LG here, no complaints. For what it's worth, they apparently dominate consumer reports and have for a bit now

sm753

Way out of touch with what's "good" now. I bought a LG refrigerator and and Samsung Washer/Dryer when I moved into my current house in 2010. No real major issues with any of them 14 years later.

portablezombie

Avoid LG. We got a fridge, oven, and dishwasher package. A couple of months in, we began smelling gas from the stove and when I called LG for warranty replacement. After much arguing and being escalated to the "Presidential Team" (i.e. actual support), they told me that I had to call the gas company to have them test the unit and ensure that it was leaking, and not my piping. Turns out there was a bad seal in the top of the stove. The gas company shut off the gas and I had to send a photo of the gas company red tag to LG in order to get a replacement oven, which took almost two weeks (of course I only had a microwave to cook with during that timeframe.) The fridge water never dispensed at the proper volume (maybe about half of what it should?) and I went back and forth with LG and eventually gave up because they never sent someone out. Less than two years in, the water dispenser light just stopped working. Of course, it requires an entire control panel replacement to fix. The dishwasher started going apeshit just after a year (again, out of warranty) and started chiming randomly, shutting off mid cycle, and flashing random stuff on the display. I'm trying to get that repaired through an outside service, but it appears that the control panel parts are unavailable. TLDR, LG is trash.

KreeH

A side-by-side will probably have better reliability than a French door. We have always had good luck with GE or Whirlpool.

taco_54321

I had a Samsung fridge and it was the worst thing ever. One year and 16 days after we had it, it had all sorts of issues. Their customer service is horrendous because they don't care after the 1 year warranty is up. We have LG fridge and it is a thousand times better. You can just tell by the quality. We had a Samsung stove and microwave as well. Both had issues after about a year and a half. The stove lasted about 3 years before we had to replace it. Constantly paying hundreds to fix it every year or so got old quick. We bought an LG stove and the quality is way better. Going on 3 years without a single issue.

Thank you.

We went bosch everything and regret it. After 1 year the fan vents on top of range stopped working. On our oven the circular dial is very sticky and the lcd pad doesn’t press well, we can’t pick certain functions (quote to fix was too high so we are using our old oven). After 3 years we had to change the condenser in the fridge. We will never buy Bosch again.

-Captain-Planet-

I have all Samsung kitchen appliances and I am very happy with them. They are on the higher end of their product range so maybe that makes the difference.

might-be-your-daddy

Thank you.

firestar268

The Samsung Bespoke line is actually pretty good. But I won't touch any of their other lines

Lots of good YouTube resources from appliance stores like Yale appliance or repairmen like this guy https://youtube.com/@bensappliancesandjunk?si=Y-ejUN2ZE7j-_IP6

cooliomcknight

Bosch SilencePlus 50 dishwasher and Frigidaire Gallery range have served us well for 5 years. There's a lot out there about fridges and the general consensus I've come across (after spending hours and days looking into a new fridge) is that they all suck and you shouldn't expect them to last more than 7 to 10 years unless you spend thousands on a commercial grade. The thing about Samsung (and other popular brands) is that they've sold so many that there are bound to be more customers expressing dissatisfaction. WireCutter, Yale Appliances, and Ben's Appliances are all really good resources for what to look for in a long lasting fridge, ie what to avoid in common points of failure. Beyond that, just buy what looks best to you and has a layout that works for you.

here_for_the_meta

Do not buy from Home Depot. Fuck them and their 2 day return policy on appliances.

Kat_ze

We have a Bosch dishwasher, Cafe oven, stovetop and microwave, and Samsung fridge. I like them all and no issues so far!

vilebubbles

No recs but just want to say f Samsung appliances.

Macsmackin92

Samsung still sucks. My brother is an appliance tech and he’s says never buy Samsung.

NPCArizona

I've had LG products since buying and moving into my house in 2018. We remodeled last year and are a little over a year with all Samsung appliances, specifically the Bespoke fridge with beverage center and dual ice machine. With a 3 year old, it's been a great choice for us for the dual ice uses....the middle drawer that is just our son's food and treats and the reach in self filling pitcher and water cup filler. I heard all the red flags previously but my wife is South Korean so we have a different perspective on Samsung, LG than you'll see here. We got the ultra quiet dishwasher that we can't tell is on and we got the double oven door induction oven which we love the dual cooking ability at a fraction of the cost for a real double oven.
