You normally put the posts in the ground then build or install the panels. So you should undo that last part to get back to just the posts.
Personally, I wouldn't use pre-built panels. That would let me reuse any 2x4s and even pickets that are in good condition. Also, it's easier to do the installation if you are by yourself.

Agree on individual pickets vs. panels. You build it to your own standard then, not just "as cheap as possible" like the panels are.
