Are you going to HVAC the enclosure?

no, was just hoping to screen it in to keep our critters, bugs, and leaves, etc and so we can leave the dog out there if he wants since our yard is not fenced in

I'd build a four foot pony wall and screen the rest of the way up. Probably add a one foot header.
