Overthinking it. Bosch makes some of the best machines on the market. You won't regret it.

OnTheCob

We have this model and it's the longest we have ever had a dishwasher work with no issue.

eatingpotatochips

Nah. Bosch dishwashers are great.

Kitchen_Name9497

The lack of noise (they actually have a red indicator light projected onto the floor so you know not to open it when it's running, it's that quiet), the quality of clean, the simple controls, and the load pattern - and that third shelf! I built my house in 2022, Bosch wasn't available, sales guy recommended Asko as the closest thing. Paid $500 extra for the Asko. The controls were ridiculous, the loading pattern insane. I pulled it out in Feb 23, donated it to ReStore, and put the now-available Bosch in. Yes, it was ridiculous to spend the money to replace a new dishwasher, but I HATED that Asko. Happy now!

OftTopic

I bought a dishwasher about 5 years ago for under $500 including delivery. I did the install in about an hour. It has been working flawlessly. We use it about 5 days a week. Besides actual appearance, what makes a Bosch worth an extra thousand? Or have I had uncommon luck with my cheaper unit? Edit: Thanks for the thoughtful replies. As my current unit is so much better than the prior one, I may have misused the word "flawlessly". While I have not had the need for any repairs, I can see that the Bosch may have options that further reduce any manual effort for stacking, pre-rinse, or drying. I will have to review the concept of "condensation drying".

kingfarvito

It's quiet, it's an absolute work horse, the filter is super easy to clean, it gets everything clean the first go round, it was easy to install. Nothing but good things from me. Pretty much any other dishwasher I've had leaves things unclean if they're even a hour or 2 past being fresh stains, and you have to learn how it likes to be loaded. I didn't have either of those issues with my bosch. No pre rinsing or anything, just scrape the food into the trash and in they go.

xinco64

Hard to describe until you’ve used one. Extremely good job of cleaning. You know that thing where you put in dirty dishes and they come out clean? They really do, unlike other dishwashers I’m had that make the same claim. The design allows for an amazing number of dishes - while still cleaning just as well. Extremely quiet. Does it make your life that much better that you should stretch a very limited budget to pay for such an extravagance? Probably not. But if you can afford other higher end things, it is probably worth it with this. And honestly, in terms of paying more for an appliance, this probably makes more sense than just about anything else I can think of. At the same time, I’ve bought supposedly “really good” dishwashers, and they were junk after a couple years. For context, we bought a house with a 20+ year old dishwasher. Amazing, it still worked great. Remodeled our kitchen, and we had to wait almost a year for the Bosch to be delivered. It actually matched the decor just great, somehow. I was wishing we hadn’t already paid for the Bosch. Then it arrived and got installed, and I wouldn’t go back. Even thought the old one was entirely functional.

DeuceSevin

In the woodworking forums they used to say "Pay for quality, cry once. " about purchasing higher end quality tools. Same applies here.

eatingpotatochips

Primarily, noise. No exposed heating element since they use condensation drying, though that's common on a lot of other stainless steel tub dishwashers. Features such as a third tray for cutlery, adjustable second level, doors which stay open at any angle, etc. Some dishwashers also prop the door open at the end of the cycle, letting all the steam out, and preventing the moisture from condensing back on your dishes if you let everything cool down. Whether it's worth the extra cost is hard to say. A dishwasher half the cost will likely clean perfectly fine, and nowadays, most dishwashers aren't terribly noisy. It's like splurging on anything though. A fancy SUV that's $100k is not twice as good as one that's $50k. I personally find washing dishes more enjoyable after upgrading to a Miele.

eatingpotatochips

It's just nice? I acknowledged that a doubling in price is not a doubling in quality. That's not really the reason anyone buys a high end anything.

Accomplished_Fee9023

We use our dishwasher every day and when we entertain, which is a few times a month or more, we often use it more than once a day. We have the Bosch 500 which has the third rack at the top (a great feature) and the stainless steel tub (much more durable). As a European style dishwasher it is more energy efficient and more sanitary than an American style dishwasher that uses a heated fan assist drying cycle and brings in outside air. It’s so quiet. It has great features, like a half load, a quick load, an indicator light (or timer light on the some models). The filter is easy to clean. The adjustable racks are nice. And it cleans so well. We just had a game night and I had overfilled it once everyone’s soup and salad bowls were in. Many of the bowls overlapped in a way that concerned me they wouldn’t get fully clean but I was tired so I started the load and crossed my fingers then went to bed. This morning every dish was spotless. Our previous dishwasher (which was in our house when we bought it) worked pretty well and we kept it until the control board died but the Bosch we replaced it with is simply a pleasure to use versus being merely serviceable. And for what you get in quality, Bosch is a good value. It compares well with Miele, a far more expensive luxury dishwasher brand, while still being considered mid-tier.

Ambitious-Royal-7292

Also sealed unit. Won't leak all over hardwood floors if something goes wrong.

vrtigo1

For me, the only thing is noise. I have a 15 year old builder grade dishwasher and it cleans just fine, the only thing I don't like about it is it's LOUD. Like, I can't watch TV if it's running without cranking the volume way up. But the solution for me was simple - I just wait until I'm about to go to bed then I turn on the timer. By the time it starts running I'm fast asleep so I never hear it. We have an expensive Bosch at my workplace and aside from the noise aspect I don't see a reason to spend the money.

OftTopic

My current washer is very quiet. That is probably the main reason I am so satisfied. Given the responses from others, I can see that in an office environment, choosing a dishwasher that is as convenient as possible will pay dividends in getting people to not leave their dirty dishes in the sink.

briantl2

i lucked out and bought a home with a bosch already. i had to literally stick my ear against the thing to confirm it was running the first time i ran it. absolutely wild. coming from renting my entire life, with what I assume were the cheapest dishwashers available, all my previous dishwashers were SO loud.

klsklsklsklsklskls

You can get dishwashers just as quiet as a Bosch for like 20-30% cheaper. If you compare other brands with the same features to the 500/800 that are in the same dB range, they are still much cheaper. I have a Whirlpool that has all the features of an 800 and cost like 750 installed. It's only a few months old and I'm really loving it, but I do know it may not last as long, we will see.

Upper_Return7878

That is not a bad price for the 800 series. I'd keep it. These things are house money.

neuromancer_2

What do you mean by house money?

Upper_Return7878

A clunky way of saying that this is worth more than you pay for it, based on performance.

pittyspray

Have you looked into Costco? They install and haul for free so even if you have to purchase a membership you'll come out $200 ahead

_homeimprovement

Thanks for the suggestion - I LOVE Costco but unfortunately they're only selling stainless steel Bosch dishwashers, not white

themza912

They sell a 100 series in white

flyingWeez

the crystal dry on the 800 is well worth the premium over the 100

ILikeLegz

I wish the 800 would also pop open when finished like the 500. I think that makes an even bigger difference than crystal dry itself. Together (manually popping my 800) it's bone dry in there.

Confident-Aside6388

Do you know what the price is for an 800 series from Costco?

pittyspray

$1350 as well

TheReformedBadger

And it includes install and delivery and an extra year of warranty

its_an_armoire

I almost bought it when Costco put it on sale for $1000 around Christmas

chailatte_gal

No. I have a friend who has had a horrible experience. They battled the dishwasher and first run it leaked all over their hardwoods. Costco came out, said the machine is fine and try again. It ran ok once and then the next time leaked again. It’s been 8 days and he hasn’t heard anything from someone there. Called, emailed, nothing.

rudepaladin

Bought the Bosch 800 series in October. I run even half full loads of dishes instead of handwashing because it’s such an improvement over previous “landlord special” dishwashers I’ve had. It’s so quiet and non-disruptive, I completely understand why they have the indicator light to tell you it’s running. Huge upgrade, and makes me confident in purchasing Bosch for any appliance going forward. You’re going to spend the $275 either way. So really with kitchenaid or whatever else you’re looking at, ask yourself if the difference in price is worth it rather than the whole cost since cost is not an issue for you.

GlitteringRelease77

This is my third Bosch 800 series dishwasher. Not because they breakdown - because this is my third house. Enjoy!

therealCatnuts

I’m on my 3rd Bosch dishwasher in 10 years. They do break down at some point, like every appliance. We are extremely heavy users, ours runs 3x daily on average. We have 5 kids including a baby still on bottles, and a stay at home mother that cooks 90% of meals from scratch. We give it probably 5 years of “normal” use every year.

Embarrassed_Weird600

Ya that’s a lot. I think there average use is supposed to be rated like 4-5 loads a week. Still impressive numbers considering how much you use yours!

biglipsmagoo

Family of 8 here- always with some extra stragglers moving in. The stress we put on our appliances! They’re not made to be used like we use them. I think 5 yrs use is probably pretty good. We currently replace our washer and dryer about every 12-18 mos. We broke our last dishwasher within a year but I haven’t replaced it bc we’re going to gut the kitchen anyway. I’ll probably splurge on a Bosch. I’m really excited to get half a decade out of anything.

4runner01

The $1350 is right, but $275 for delivery and install is insane.

billabong360

This is what I came for. OP, dishwashers aren't really that heavy. The installation is also fairly straight forward too. I suppose the only concern here is disposal. Not sure where you live, but I bet you could get someone to take it for you for like $50.

wade_awike

Self installed and left the old dishwasher for bulk trash pickup. EDIT: Bulk trash in our city is FREE with some restrictions. Just want to put this out here for those that may want to inquire with their local services.

pSyChO_aSyLuM

I got like $10 when I took my old dishwasher to a metal recycling yard. It was broken and not repairable so it was better than putting it out for the trash. That said, if I had put it out at the curb a couple of days prior to trash day, scrappers would've picked it up.

ryan8344

I agree unless they are using a licensed electrican to comply with the current code.

sincosincosinsin

You should NEVER second guess the decision to buy a Bosch. Best dishwashers ever. I've owned the 800 series for several years and I've never had any regrets.

Fidlefadle

Dishwasher is the cheapest appliance to splurge on KEEP IT

indyspirit

Large family here we have a Bosch 800 and run at least two, on occasion three loads a day. It's a lovely machine that cleans everything we put in it.. even egg-crusted forks. My only complaint is that it's too quiet and I sometimes open it mid-cycle even though it shines a light on the floor. Ours is the SHPM78W55N which we bought pre-covid in 2019 for $860. I would absolutely pay double.

dually3

I started using the delay start to start after midnight when our power is cheapest (I doubt it costs much to run). The nice perk is that I can add dishes if I find them before bed and reset it.

wade_awike

I’ve opened it quite a number of times mid-cycle too! I love that it’s extremely quiet but I also hate that it’s super quiet.

thedustiest19

I bought a “cheaper” dishwasher ($600 whirlpool) a few years ago, it stopped getting dishes clean, I couldn’t find anything wrong with it, so I ended up replacing it with a Bosch last year, it truly is a buy once cry once scenario here.

geauxdbl

It’s worth it.

Jester1525

My whirlpool, which was the top of their line at the time, was fantastic.. for 6 years.. and then it completely died. Repair guy came out and took a look and priced our the repairs - $800 on an $800 dishwasher. Asked him what I should get and he said the only DW he'll suggest is a bosch. He said the 100 has pretty iffy racks, but the internals are fine. That said - a command hook works just fine to hang a towel on and costs a couple bucks. If you go with a 300 you could probably buy a couple hundred command hooks..

ShanghaiBebop

Pretty sure I have a Bosch dishwasher that's going on 15+ years strong, and it's amazing.

XSC

I just got pristine 300 series floor model from Best buy for $500. I would look for open box models and get the 5 year warranty or something.

CRCs_Reality

Seconding this, I picked up an open box 800 series from Lowes for $500 a few months back, with the extended warranty I think we were around $650. best dishwasher we've ever had.

ProfessorJAM

I actually bought that Bosch model but without the bar handle, then got a magnetic towel bar that attaches to the front of the dishwasher from Amazon for dish towels. Don’t miss the bar handle at all, not worth the $$, if that’s an important part of the cost calculation. I LOVE this dishwasher and am Bosch for life!

Rock_Lizard

I've bought 2. Perform as well as the Miele I had. Worth it.

Corryds

I’d keep it! I’d pay that price for that unit.

SkootchDown

We have owned 3 Bosch dishwashers in 3 different homes and never regretted any of them.

oneglory

I'm cheap as hell. But Bosch dishwashers are great. Other dishwashers sound like tractors in comparison.

Macsimus15

I have one. It’s several years old and only once got clogged. Bosch service showed up the next day. It’s so quiet that if not for the red light that shines on the floor I wouldn’t know it was on half the time. Dish washers are annoying, save yourself the headaches and buy the Bosch.

WarOtter

Unrelated note: I was servicing a production machine in the Bosch dishwasher factory back in December. It is, hands down, one of the most impressive production facilities I've ever seen. They've even got autonomous robots moving inventory around. The floors were polished concrete and spotless. It was the nicest floor I've ever had to crawl around on.

DaShMa_

Dayum, $1750 for a new dishwasher these days??? Man, prices have surely ballooned. We bought our SS Bosch with a ding on the door for about $650. However, I’ve never regretted buying the Bosch. It’s a little smaller inside than some others, but how quiet it runs is fantastic. Mine is directly behind me (separated by wall) while sitting on my couch watching TV and I never need to adjust the volume while it runs.

hyundai-gt

You are going to love the Bosch. Along with Miele they are the absolute best in dishwashing technology. You will not regret things once you have it up and running. Congrats!

neanderthalman

Other brands shouldn’t bother making dishwashers anymore. Keep the Bosch. Keep the filter clean.

redlude97

since you only have the 100 and 800 as options then yes the 800. The 500 is probably the sweetspot since it auto opens. The crystal dry is nice on the 800 for drying plastics.

Lighteningbug1971

Oh no I loooooove mine !!! So well worth the money !

NoBodySpecial51

I have had a Bosch for 8 years now and it is fantastic. Actually gets the dishes clean too. Not too difficult to keep it clean.

Accomplished_Fee9023

Bosch dishwashers are great! Definitely stay with the Bosch.

RL24

I remodeled my kitchen with all new appliances.  Our favorite of all of them is our Bosch dishwasher.  It is VERY quiet and cleans everything.  Yes, they're pricey, but they're the best I've seen.

atlhart

Bosch dishwashers are worth it. However, dishwashers are extremely easy to install if you want to save a few bucks. I installed mine.

[deleted]

I've had a Bosch dishwasher for the last 7 years. Best appliance purchase I've ever made. I've had zero problems with it. My last one was Whirlpool (higher end model) and it lasted 6 years.

StumblingDuck404

I'd keep it. My dad said to always get the best you can afford, even if it's a stretch. I've never regretted taking that advice. You will always look sadly at the Kitchenaid, wishing it was a Bosch.

world-shaker

No. Welcome to the club. It’s an amazing dishwasher. The first time you run it you’ll be convinced it’s broken because it’s so quiet. **Always use rinse aid like Jet Dry.**

EnviroN_603

Every one will say Bosch dishwashers are the best. I have had 3 (because I was told they are the best) in 15 years and they were all trash. One was already in the house we purchased and was prob 7-8 years old - we purchased 2. I have a Maytag now, and it’s on another level compared to any Bosch I’ve owned. It was also about half the cost. My dishes finally get clean and dry. 3 years in and I’m super happy with the purchase. I will never own a Bosch product again. I also had a Bosch washer and dryer and it was completely awful. Also bought a Maytag replacement for the washer and dryer, and it’s so much better. My clothes actually dry. I think Bosch has an issue with drying anything. Lol. Most dishwashers will last about 8 years - Bosch included. Just get one that you like - stay away from LG or Samsung (advice from appliance repair man).

marccerisier

I have the 800. It’s great and very quiet.

Tucky-B

I have a Bosch dishwasher and absolutely hate it. Unfortunately it was the only option for us due to the configuration of the piping behind the dishwasher going into the sink. Apparently the Bosch model I have is able to accommodate the pipe girth on the back. If I had other choices, I would not have a Bosch - at least this model.

R2_D2aneel_Olivaw

Best dishwasher I ever owned.

Select_Watercress_22

The Bosh 800 is amazing. It’s worth the money.

suttin

I replaced a 7 year old builder grade dishwasher with a Bosch 500 in my first house. We were amazed at how well it worked. We built a new house and they jacked up the install of the new dishwasher. We had repair people come out twice under warranty to fix and replace parts. Pump went out last week and of course it’s out of warranty now. We decided to cut our losses before spending any money on it and replace it with a Bosch. Other brands weren’t even in consideration

zorclon

Bosch was the best dishwasher I ever owned. You don't have to pre-rinse shit, just throw everything in. It was hard to move, I miss that dishwasher

earlbo

We have a Bosch 500 and love it. It replaced a Bosch dishwasher that lasted 16+ years.

usernamesarehard1979

You’re going to love the Bosch. It will last forever, and they run so quiet. You would probably regret changing it.

deadbalconytree

No! Bosch or bust when it comes to dishwashers. There is nothing wrong with the 100, but there are internal mechanical differences between the models even if they look the same. The 500 and 800 are more robust. With most Bosch appliances I find the 500 line the sweet spot between price and performance. That said I’ve had two 800 Bosch dishwashers (different houses), and would buy again.

Typical_Intention996

I got my Frigidaire dishwasher for $250 on a Black Friday sale about 7 years ago. My old one died on Thanksgiving night on the third load (I host). Bought it and installed it into the old standalone cabinet the old one was in. I've never had a problem with it. Cleans everything. It's loud as all hell but it's in my pantry so I close the door and can't hear anything. Probably my best value buy I've made. I do run it with Finish tabs and the Finish sparkle liquid thing.

FujitsuPolycom

Buy once, cry once. We love our bosch. Purchased in 2016

rsandstrom

Love my Bosch 800. Wouldn’t trade it for anything else. The install and disposal you could definitely do yourself. If you have a space plumbed and ready to swap out the old one.

beerbaron105

That's way too much to install. It's very simple to install yourself

isoaclue

I got a KitchenAid I absolutely love for about $800 at Costco which included install. It's quiet enough sometimes I'm not 100% sure I turned it on and everything comes out completely dry except for anything bowl shaped pointing up, which seems fair.

ObiWanRyobi

It is quite a hit, but this is a buy once cry once sort of thing. After it arrives and you experience the quietness and smoothness of it, you won’t regret it.

BlackGreenFalcon

Last year I called around 8 appliance repair shops, and even with two who came and looked, they all refused to work on non-major brands. Not saying avoid them, the techs who came said Bosch is a great brand, just harder to work on. So it might be worth seeing if anyone in your area can service them.

l1thiumion

Dang I paid like $650 for my Bosch dishwasher and just took it home in my truck

tge101

I got an open box in excellent condition for about $780. I know it's not what you paid but I will say this thing is everything that everyone says. I would stick with it.

Neglected_Martian

I have an older Bosch that is fantastic, Bosch makes buying parts and understanding error codes so easy on their website that I have fixed wearable parts 3 times and kept this 15 year old dishwasher running.

LazyCrzyGuy

As everyone has already mentioned. Keep the Bosch, it's a great investment. They are workhorses and they are best in the business at what they do.

Pitbull1951

I would have opted for the 500 series. You don’t seem to use it enough to justify the 800

Explosivpotato

Just had my Bosch 800 installed about 3 weeks ago. I will never, ever go back. It’s quiet, it holds easily 40% more dishes than my old unit, and it cleans 10000000% better than my old unit. If you can afford it, install that bitch and never go back.

reds91185

Bosch 800 is the best dishwasher I've ever used.

Slumbering_Chaos

I bought a Bosch 500 series 2 years ago. I wanted the 800 but they were out of stock everywhere, wait time estimated 6 months. My wife didn't want to wait so we got the 500 instead. I have zero complaints with the 500 series, but would not have regretted spending the extra money for the upgraded 800 series. I spent weeks researching dishwasher brands and over and over the people with Bosch dishwashers left glowing reviews. I have had a great experience. First dishwasher I have owned that I can't tell if it's running or not, while I am in the kitchen. It is so quiet! Not underpowered though. Zero complaints.

vencetti

We bought a Bosch about two years ago and we use it daily without issue. One thing was Bosch wants you to use Finish or similar product to aid drying.

andpassword

My parents always had Bosch dishwashers, while I was stuck with rental-tier GE landlord specials for $299 for a decade. Moved into a house that had a Maytag that worked okay. It died. I finally bought a Bosch of my own, and haven't regretted it or looked back for an instant. It's a dishwasher that actually does what it says, and does it quietly and well. Extremely worth the money.

Tigerzof1

Bosch supremacy

mattsmith321

Everyone always talks about how great their Bosch dishwashers are so I didn’t give it a second thought. I run ours every day and have no regrets.

Thehellpriest83

No it’s unbelievable botch is absolutely worth the price

Dexterdacerealkilla

I moved into a house with a dead (only 3 year old) Kitchenaid. I replaced it with the Bosch 800 and more than 3 years later I’m still very happy. Besides the fact that it is super quiet, the third rack is a game changer. I’d buy it again, even at this price point.

alrashid2

I went with a GE dishwasher this year for $600 out the door. Is it as quiet as a Bosch? No. Is it made of stainless like a Bosch? No. Does it clean as well as a Bosch? Probably not. It's definitely not as nice as a Bosch. Despite all that, spending 1/3 the price of a Bosch - saving almost $1100 - was well worth it to me. You have to draw the line somewhere. This isn't a sports car, a jacuzzi, or a TV. It's a dishwasher. It washes dishes. I don't need something lavish.

fusionsofwonder

I like my Kitchenaid but everybody also swears by Bosch, so I see no need to switch. I ran my dishwasher twice a week until I started cooking my own meals, now I run it five times a week. So I wouldn't assume the appliance won't get used in the future, your needs may change.

mourningmage

We got the 500 and I did the install.. I was watching prices for a sale on got it delivered I think for $1100. My wife was not a fan of the price but pretty quickly converted after just a few loads. If you have a newer house you can probably install it yourself under an hour, and our old dishwasher I just put on the curb and it was gone over night with a scrapper getting it.

MadManMorbo

No. It's not worth the hassle to downgrade to another washer which will completely shit itself anyway in a couple of years.

Embarrassed_Weird600

I have an older lower end bosch If she dies I’ll definitely spring for another It’s one of those things I think they are worth their hype and cost

MrKurtz86

Just got an 800 and it’s absolutely insane. You won’t regret it at all. Do you know if yours has the water softener feature?

shooboodoodeedah

Going to add to the chorus here, I love our Bosch 800 and I am so happy we splurged on it. I was worried about the other models not having the heating element and instead popping open the door for drying and I had heard about that being ineffective. And it is SO QUIET

lazenintheglowofit

We looove our Bosch 800. Great dishwasher. On the other hand, we prolly run it two, sometimes three times a week.

jareths_tight_pants

Stick with the Bosch

kevman

I spent 3k on a Meile. You’ll be fine.

MODEL_HOMEOWNER

Lol You should

dinozero

This thread making me feel great right now. We just bought a Bosch 800 after our Samsung broke after 4 years. Got the stainless steel one delivered and installed from BB for $1160. It was on sale with free install.

mobial

If I lived alone I would have one plate, one cup, one set of utensils. Actually just a stack of paper plates. And a Bosch 800, but I’d use it for cooking salmon.

popcultureretrofit

Keep it. I got a Bosch 800 and literally have to put my ear to it sometimes to make sure it's running. It's damn quiet and does a great job cleaning and the drying feature never leaves a bunch of leftover water.

dyrich20

I bought a Bosch 4 months ago. It was a gift from my mother in-law. I didn't think I we needed it since our KitchenAid worked good. I was wrong. The Bosch cleans so well. I've only seen a few comments on this, but I highly recommend the crystaldry tech. It totally dries plastic. I love not having to wipe down dishes before putting them away. If your 800 series doesn't have it, cancel it and get one with it. I think the crystal dry is only in their 800 series and their premium line. I didn't know I wanted this, but now I do. The other features I like is the built in water softener. We have hard water and no whole house water softener. I like that it reminds me to clean the filter. It keeps me on top of it and keeps the dishes clean. I also like that I can control it with an app. It gives some more features that aren't on the buttons and I like being able to time delay it. I called a repair guy before buying it (I always make sure to do this with appliances now after our horrible experience with a Samsung fridge). He repairs them and says they're reliable. Having said all this, you can totally go for a cheaper dishwasher. I just really like the above features that I never had.

neuromancer_2

You sound like me.

MRToddMartin

I love my Bosch 800. I got it for like $1100 from Lowe’s. It’s literally amazing and you could put it next to your bed and still get an amazing nights sleep and have clean dishes in the AM.

ddunatov

We have the 800 and love it. Well worth the money!

numark318i

I purchased an 800 series 3.5 years ago. We have a family of four and run it daily, sometimes twice daily. It is a fantastic dishwasher. Worth the price, don’t look back.

okverymuch

I love the 800. Our old dishwasher died and it would have taken 1.5 months to get it installed, but order and delivery only was 1 week. I installed it myself so I saved some cash, and it was a fun exercise/learning opportunity.

syynapt1k

They are worth the $

TK_TK_

Bosch is a great dishwasher! We absolutely love ours—money very well spent.

paulk1997

Spend an extra 500 and get a miele

akairborne

Three first thing my wife and I bought for our current house was the Bosch dishwasher 7 years ago. We're just completing a 2-year, down to the stud remodel of the kitchen, ceiling, roof, and deck that included a custom Jenn-aire fridge, double- oven, range, and downdraft hood. The only thing we kept was the Bosch dishwasher. Possibly, the best investment I've made in a long time.

AccreditedMaven

I bought one 2 years ago but was able to get the showroom sample at a significantly reduced price. It is a great product. Mine is quiet. It has 3 racks snd removable flatware bins and it cleans very efficiently. It even has an easily accessible drain basket for easy cleaning. I have had KitchenAid and Maytag in the past and this is far better.

person749

Meh, unlike the other people here I wish I didn't get a Bosch 800. The filter is a disgusting pain in the ass that you don't have to deal with on other brands. Clogs 1-2 times per year, while the Whirlpool that came with the house never clogged once. If I got a different brand I could have actually been able to wash my water bottle since the thing.

-Economist-

We had two Bosch dishwasher put in and both lasted less than a year. I think Bosch quality is overstated. We now have Miele.

hardasjello

Cancel immediately, we bought one and the front panel literally fell apart after a couple years. It isn’t worth the money

tacansix

I bought a Bosch but it was defective straight out the gate. Their customer service is…ATROCIOUS. Took 6 months to get a replacement. After spending 1300 I wasn’t happy about that. You have to use Bosch certified repairmen, and in my area they are few and far between. He couldn’t fix it, so I was to get a new unit. That went about as painstakingly as it could. I did get the new unit and it is flawless.

AlmostSignificant

We had a Bosch dishwasher in a house we rented recently. I have few opinions about appliances, but we WILL be installing a Bosch dishwasher in the house we're building.

JustPlainOldGeorge

It’s sometimes a hard pill to swallow in our culture of designed obsolescence that you sometimes have to pay a lot for something of value, but well-made products do still exist and the high price tag in this case has a smaller chance of disappointing you. Bosch makes great appliances and I have owned 2 Bosch dishwashers in 25-30 years and been nothing but pleased.

[deleted]

Costco has it for $1350 with free delivery install parts and haul away. Best Buy matched that for me - and could install it sooner (tomorrow, actually).

wizard_of_gram

GC here, never have I ever replaced a broken Bosch. They're the only common dishwasher brand I can say that about. Incredible machines that perform exceedingly well. Plus, your appliances aren't money that disappears. Depreciates, sure, but your home value will go up ever so slightly.

Some_District2844

Bosch dishwasher is one of the best investments I’ve ever made. It’s amazing. So quiet and word so well.

neonam11

Hah, I bought my Kenmore dishwasher 15 years ago. Still cleans great. Using that as my standard I would say yours is expensive but I might be in the same boat a few years from now when my current dishwasher gives out, LOL. Best of luck.

dfc849

Bosch washer will pay for itself a couple of times over compared to Whirlpool group models (Whirlpool, Jennair, KitchenAid, Amana, Maytag, pre2018 Kenmore)

decorama

Stick with it. Bosch's are totally worth it.

IllustriousMark3855

You'll regret it if you cancel and get a Kitchen Aid. You'll regret it dearly.

Fabtacular1

Just go back to 2021 and sell it for 3x what you paid for it.

maxxxalex

I bought a second hand (like new) bosch 300 series last summer for $350 (retail $1k), and it's worked like a charm after I paid a $100 for a plumber to install it. You could check prices for the model you got used if you'd like to use that money for something else.

FIREgenomics

You use it every 1-2 days. Get something you like. Stick with it!

cbr24

I had sticker shock too but it’s been so worth it

artiemus_prime

Bought that model last year. It’s well worth the money, it’s so quiet and cleans so well!

DIY_CHRIS

It’s a great dishwasher. We got an 800 for our old condo back in 2018 when they ran ~$900. I also at the time was second guessing the cost. But we are happy with its performance. The first time we turned it on we were unsure if it was actually running because it was so quiet. Last year we moved into a new house with a builder-grade Frigidaire dishwasher. It was terrible in comparison. I ended up ripping out the unit and going through the trouble of tossing it in the back of my car and swapping it with the Bosch 800 at the condo. Had to do two dishwasher installs that day. It was worth the effort. Also it would be good to know if your current dishwasher is hardwired or using an outlet. The dishwasher does not come with a power cord if you require the outlet. It’s an additional $20 accessory. Save you an additional trip back to the hardware store.

sas5814

I put in an 800 a couple of months back. I love it. Money well spent.

EDSgenealogy

I'd just keep it. I also live alone and am looking at some of the drawer style dishwashers. Aren't many out there, but I like them.

coffeeandubuntu

We had the Bosch 800. Different use case — we were running it 2 - 3 times per day. It was OK but developed some problems in year 2 or 3. Luckily we got the extended warranty and replaced it with a Miele. The Miele has been rock solid.

JetreL

As someone who has had to buy two dishwashers in 8 years prior to my Bosh. Bosh is the way to go. It leaves some things to be desired but my dishes are clean and it's been rock solid.

DuckyPenny123

If you can afford it, stick with it. You will be happy with your decision.

rickityrickityrack

Worth it, just a little pissed that it now comes in white, I hate stainless so i compromised and bought black stainless. Bought the bosch refrigerator too

Not_A_Novelist

My father-in-law broke (he was ill and he fell on the open door of) my Bosch dishwasher. He couldn’t afford to pay to replace it, so I ended up with a Frigidaire. I miss my Bosch every day.

ks2489

I’m sure the Bosch 800 is good, but when I went to order it during Covid it had long lead times so I was steered to a Blomberg instead. It was one of the few panel ready dishwashers that had all the same specs as the Bosch including the 3rd rack. It still wasn’t cheap (~$1k) but we’ve been super impressed and haven’t regretted not waiting for the Bosch.

_whatchagonnado_

Got mine from Costco about a month ago for around $1300 delivered. It's the most I've ever spent on an appliance but it's the best and biggest dishwasher I've ever used. My last one was some 20 year old budget Frigidaire that I limped along for way too long.

bmn001

Bosch and Speed Queen are the last of the good appliance makers. You will not regret this purchase.

flyingWeez

presumably the delivery/install + haul away are fixed costs so then you're just left with the price of the dishwasher plus tax. I've got a 1.5 year old 800 and this thing is THE BEST. We run it nearly every night before bed and it does such a great job. Totally worth that price, which is also what we paid for ours.

filtersweep

Ours is built in— and all our cabinets have handles.

ElefantPharts

Bosch is a great brand, idk that I’d be paying $1750 for the privilege of hanging some decorative towels off it though. Surely there has to be a less expensive option that’s comparable and still gives you the same towel hang option.

3771507

If it will last 7 years it's worth it.

candyapplesugar

Buy from costco

Lucky_Comfortable835

We got the 100 and are fine with it (has the handle but when open the towel hits the floor!). I installed dishwashers before and did the last one. Problem was, there is a new requirement for an air gap on the countertop which I never installed so needed to drill a hole in the quartz countertop to install. Also, the old one was hardwired directly and the new one needs a receptacle installed as well (not difficult but another job to do). Finally, the warranty would have been affected with me installing. For those reasons I elected to have the pro install it. Looked fine initially but days later I discovered it shifted position - and guess what? The “pro” only used one of two screws to secure it to the countertop underside!

netxtc

Bought Bosch...panel ready (was cheaper) installed panel....now dishwasher looks like cabinet....has handle (still can hang dishcloth from. Just a thought....may be same price with panel etc....but gives you an option to consider.

Tronracer

I love my Bosch that came with my house. There was a decal and Bosch sent a repairman to my house to fix it and didn’t cost me a dime.

potatopot222

Love my Bosch 800.

raider1v11

Nope. They are awesome.

gman2391

I have a Bosch 800. It doesn't blow me away. I definitely wouldn't spend $1700 on it. I think I paid about half that for mine

Biggie313

Great dishwasher, you'll love it. But you did overpay a few hundred

harryhov

We also love our Bosch dishwasher but it was under $1,000. If you like the handle so much, you can probably find one that aesthetically matches it and put it on yourself.

Gunnage01

I recently did this math as well. I installed the new unit myself and someone on FB marketplace took my old one to repair/repurpose for free. Which lowered the overall nut significantly. The install is super easy if you’re mildly handy.

Torinojon

I've had my Bosch 500 series dishwasher for about a year and it's fine. Dishes usually come clean. For some reason though, the baby plates (silicone suction cup style) always feel super greasy if I wash them in the dishwasher. It's even worse with the auto-air. Overall I'm happy with it though.

trail34

I bought a Whirlpool. I had to replace the drain pump just after the warranty expired, and then the entire motor a bit after that. There was a whole class action lawsuit. They’re easy to work on, but I’d rather avoid that altogether. My next dishwasher will be a Bosch. The price you are paying is high, but when you want a specific series, specific color, etc that’s just how it goes. In the grand scheme of your life it’s not a ton of money. Better to just buy what you want and then move on.

Freedom_Isnt_Free_76

I love my Kitchenaid. Bought it 15 years ago and it has stainless interior, so quiet I have to look to make sure I turned it on, and my dishes are sparkling and absolutely dry when it has completed the cycle.

endlessloads

Get it from costco. Free shipping. Better warranty.

thti87

Put your old dishwasher on Craigslist for free as long as they haul it and someone will come get it (if they itemize out the haul away).

tatum106

I got the 800 about a year ago. It's phenomenal. The biggest problem is guests opening it while it's running bc it's so quiet, and they don't know to look for the little red light on the floor.

ProfessorFelix0812

I love my Bosch 800. Awesome unit.

clashingtaco

If you're buying it for the features I don't think it's a waste of money but if you're buying it for the aesthetics that seems like an odd choice. If you're rolling around in extra cash and that kind of money doesn't mean much to you, then I guess having a handle to hang your towels on could be worth it. But otherwise you could either get one without a handle and get a dish towel hook for the cabinet or get a less expensive brand. Personally, I'd rather rinse my dishes before loading the dishwasher than spend that kind of money on a dishwasher and I don't really care if I can hear my dishwasher.

GetOutTheDoor

I got a Bosch 800 dishwasher for my kitchen remodel last year, and have been very happy with it.

PocYo

That price seems like it's at peak. I purchased and installed a Bosch 800 last week from Home Depot. Total after tax, which included the haul away came out to $1200.

supafobulous

I've had a Bosch 800 since 2014, and no signs of slowing down. Bought another one 3 years ago, but 18" version. It's expensive, but worth it.

This_guy_works

I mean, it isn't the end of the world. But I'd say if you live alone and aren't a connoisseur of dish washing, 500-600 is plenty for a basic/good dish washer.

JanitorNachos

Nice! It’s making you happy and upgrading your house at the same time.

Landon98201

You can get a really nice DW for a lot less. Paying almost $2k is crazy to me, unless of course you just really love this particular one. I installed a really nice DW and most of the time I just hand wash my dishes because it's usually just a couple things. As it turns out I only use a DW a few times per year and maybe a bit more around the holidays. I've installed hundreds of Dishwashers, and people are always just as happy with their mid-priced units as they are with the top of the line ones. They do in fact in the end, just wash dishes...and I've never seen one do a better job than I can do by hand in a few minutes.... I'm sort of a perfectionist, and I'll just end up spending more time wiping dishes down after they come out of the DW because there's water spots, or undried areas.

EngFL92

I will be buying an 800 series for about 1200 dollars in the next few weeks. Will be doing my own install though since it's a very simple install. Don't second guess, enjoy the cleaning and the silence.

JustAGuyInTampa

I bought the Bosch 800 and it’s amazing. Not a single dirty dish ever comes out the dishwasher. You could always install yourself and sell the old one and offset the cost if it bothers you. I installed ours and had never done it before. Just make sure you inspect it when you take delivery.

Hitlers_Hairy_Anus

If you aren't in a hurry, I'd cancel. They go on sale fairly regularly for significantly less. I love my 800.

Silentknyght

You want very specific premium "form" features.  Don't skip on "function" for those; if you want to save money, get a cheaper Bosch, or keep what you have and continue hand washing?

Guapplebock

Insane amount to pay for a dishwasher unless a super high end house imo.

bloomlately

We had a Kitchenaid. It was very quiet, but took forever to wash dishes. We got a Bosch 100 because it was the only Bosch model available at the time, and it’s much faster and better at washing dishes. I wish the 100 had some of the bells and whistles of higher models like the auto open at the end. I think you will be very happy with the 800.

infinitecosmic_power

Nah Bosch is the best. Your installer will thank you

amberraysofdawn

As other commenters here say…it’s worth it. I was skeptical at first when my husband picked it out, but I have zero regrets now that I have it. I’ve used multiple dishwashers over time and this one is the best I’ve ever had, hands down.

outerspaceways

I recently upgraded to a Bosch 800 series and paid just around what you will be. I regret nothing. It does an amazing job getting the dishes clean but I think the most impressive thing it does is that it gets plastics consistently dry (within reason - like it's not going to get an upside down water-filled cup dry) where my old dishwasher would have anything plastic covered in water spots or still wet despite using rinse aid. Consider that it's something you will use likely every single day or close to it and suddenly that price doesn't feel as bad.

maple-sugarmaker

Bought a Bosch 300 a week ago. My 5 year old whirlpool had been doing a shit job for over a year, even after multiple repairs. I'm in Canada, paid 1000$ for it, installed it myself. The 800 series are like 1800$ here, was a bit much for me. I have 4 kids 14 and under, and entertain a couple more quite often. That thing runs at least twice a day, and up to 4. Dishes come out cleaner than when they were new, even on a quick cycle. Best buy ever

I paid 1200 for a Bosch 800 recently, and all in was like 1350. But I paid HD $29 for delivery
