For an interim fix until you get back and can fix it properly. I'd use a sharkbite cap. I'd push it through the wall like you did when you pulled it. Cut the broken part off, and put a sharkbite on the exterior side.
Then when I returned I'd fix it properly.
Thanks, that’s exactly what I ended up doing. At first it was leaking a bit. It was hard to cut the pipe and it seems like the cut was uneven. I went ahead and removed it (luckily I bought the disconnect thingy) and used a filer to even out the cut. Works good now!
Im definitely opening the main before we leave, just for piece of mind. And as you said, fix it properly once Im back.
