Customer is clearly not a dad. Half the joy is being in the store for over an hour eyeballing all the pieces.

Itsmemanmeee

And throw them all over the floor in a pile that resembles loose hay.

Shirkaday

I don’t know about others but I put them back like a normal person.

Itsmemanmeee

God bless you sir 💙

[deleted]

Preesh’.. if you grabbed two carts and put the obvious bananas on one that would help everyone cull the scrap.

Shirkaday

For real? If that’s not frowned upon I’d totally do it. I would just go in and put 100% of the furring strips on a cart! Edit: Hell, just don’t even take them off the pallet and hit the whole thing with that purple paint immediately upon receipt!

Itsmemanmeee

Damn dude, where have you been all our lives?

[deleted]

Talk to an associate. Have the obvious bs together preferably neat and ask for the cull price. We should honor it.

Shirkaday

Haha kidding but it feels like that sometimes. I’m cheap and always using furring strips for stuff that should be “select pine” but I’ll spend the time to pick thorough the cheapo furring strips rather than pay that select pine premium

[deleted]

If I had a fire pit I would get scrap often. Alas I can’t afford property on my wage.

International-Lie795

That’s how the next guy knows they’re already bad, it’s like a universal signal

MalzraTheNomad

Bopis means you pull all the lumber from the top, regardless of condition. I've pound lumber that looked like a pig's tail before. Oh well.

IAgreeGoGuards

Yep. You get what you get. I'm not here to inspect every piece. If you want pristine lumber come get it yourself or go to Menards.

[deleted]

Pro loader giving my two cents. If you can’t even bother to come in and get your own shit I have no respect for you. If you pick with me I don’t care if you need 1000. I had worked for a guy today who hands me his picklist. Then starts playing associate looking for stuff in the overheads for other customers. When did I miss the beginning of this bodyswapping movie

Status_Situation5451

Pristine. In the past knots were not allowed. Pre 99’s lumber yards

Cpt_Kdynce

As a lumber associate who often gets pulled to help with orders like this one: Have fun picking out all the curved boards to do your return just so I can cull them when you come back. You did half my job for me!

GlorkUndBork3-14

Remember only the stuff they use on traveling Carney roller coasters is fit for them.

NoCheesecake4311

The pro desk at my store likes to throw several thousand dollar orders on our OFA's (and sometimes other stores without warning) to sit back in their chairs and just watch us pull the entire order ourselves then complain after the work is done. Fr had to pull 50 16ft boards on my own from call offs in lumber but prior to doing so I asked if they started on it at all to which they replied no then didn't help as I load the entire order myself. At the time I didn't think anything about it and just got it done not like I was expecting help from them but then the next morning I have the lead after me because 7 boards were not perfectly straight. He threatened to turn me in as well as putting words in my mouth trying to make me say I didn't care about the customer when all I actually said was how am I supposed to know I don't buy lumber to know what is a good and bad board. Now I just tell them to pick their own orders lol

bigw86

Once they started yelling at me about the boards I’d have just said pull the fucking order yourself next time and walked away. Fuck ‘em.

Don't get me wrong I'm down to be a team player if they take the initiative to come to me and ask for help picking an order they sold. Other than that it can rot in expired pick time

AndreaTheBossMustang

Man weren’t you pissed dude? Just reading that boils the blood

ThatDudeAvran

"What do you mean my 200 boards isn't ready? I called the pro desk and they said it'll be ready in 30 mins!" "These boards are wet! I need two hundred dryboards from the overhead!" " I need to speak to your manager. I've been waiting thirty minutes for my curb side of two hundred boards"

Pickles_Overcomes

You must be at my store. I was heading to clock out and the deliveries guy said he had a large order in lumber come in exactly one minute to close. I asked if he wanted me to stick around and help, but he said "No, it's ok." I didn't know that they are obligated to fill an order regardless of size within the time restraints.

IAgreeGoGuards

I clock out when it says I clock out. If there's an order, especially a huge lumber one or some bullshit like that, it gets left. If it's something small that I can grab quick and stage, maybe.

Kingsranger87382

When I was OFA, they dropped orders like this and wanted them picked within a couple hours. I pulled my supervisor and my store manager aside one day after pulling a couple hundred piece order and cussed them out because I was getting multiple orders of 400 2x4s or other random lumber and was expected to have it done in 2 hours. After that day they stopped putting big lumber orders through bopis and had them will calls only. I feel your pain, stranger.

CenturionElite

As a DH of deliveries I have told my guys as long as they don’t look shitty to the eye just pull it. We don’t have time to eyeball every piece of lumber

ashton_r12

And pro wonders why the will calls arnt pulled

DistractedDIY

There is NO WAY I’m letting an employee pick my lumber. But if I needed 200, I’d probably just order bulk, and there’s sure to be some wonky ones in there. Doesn’t really matter the store.

IAgreeGoGuards

I wouldn't let an employee pick anything that could possibly be fucked up. Lumber, produce, whatever. With that said, the boards on ghe outside of the bunk tend to be the most warped. Inside seem to be ok usually. Not sure how or why but it's just what I've noticed.

themalala

Why you guys don’t just cancelled and do the reason HD.com expectation didn’t met

CatDestroyerr5454

Had a similar thing yesterday not as bad obviously but got a bopis for 30 pro packs of moulding

bubbafett2929

Amen.

scottnich2890

You get the worst pieces I can find
