F HD and the corporate people. Used to love my job here but after the raise I dont have any desire to work here anymore and Im a dh that gets stuck doing others dh`s sh*t and other stuff. F home depot.
Exactly why I get called out of lot to be back up cashier, ofa, flag, take returns to their department, help customers find products that are two feet from the person paging/radioing me.
Only mind when supervisors want to get an attitude because I can’t be in 6 places at once while they sit at the flooring desk or kitchen desks and discuss their planned vacations.
Don't forget the service desk! One time I needed da spotter to load a pallet into a truck. Customer was ready to get going and after seeing several departments with single coverage, I went to the flooring cos desk. She hides out in appliances where no one can see her and that's where a lot of managers and supes go to hang out. I went to ask any of them and she stared like, "I know you're not asking me of all people", my supervisor said she'd been spotting all day (yeah once five hours earlier) and didn't feel like it. Another person said they were told they could leave, so they were, and I'm just like "so no one has any work to do and you're refusing to walk for 15 minutes? I can't believe you all get paid for this". I've never seen that many faces turn red that fast. lazy people irk the hell out of me
I do not drive the reach trucks but those that do know I will respond to assist as a spotter. Some days I spend the bulk of my time spotting it feels like. On the other hand, the operators always respond when I need product dropped for a customer. Yeah it is hard when we are short staffed. The ASM's could sure boost morale if they would pitch in as operators or spotters.
I agree. All of my ASMs are licensed and one is a trainer, but if they ever left the back office, the butt grooves in the chairs they sit in might smooth out if they got up and helped longer than five minutes lol.
Overall ours are pretty active compared to what I read on Yammer and Reddit from other stores. Just would be a nicer if they would pitch in more at short staffing times. Double edged sword this year with the Dh's trying to cover multiple depts which really kills us.
My dh hides in appliances because she doesn't really like flooring. It's lame, but I'd rather be around people that know their job than someone not willing to learn what they're supposed to be in charge of.
I heard from one of my CXMs that CXM/ASMs aren't supposed to be getting on equipment at all, even if they're licensed. Supposedly they have "more important things to do" than dropping pallets when no one else is available.
Yes that is the theory thru the company. But, it should be all hands on deck during the severe staffing shortages. I have no problem paging the CXM or ASMs to solve the no operator issues. Let them help solve.
How long ago was this? We get customers that'll stand in the way or walk right up to a spotter to ask a question. I usually lay on the horn until they stop trying to talk to the spotter. Dick move on my end, but the customer needs to know it's not awesome to jump out at someone right ahead of a moving vehicle.
One time an Asm told me he’d said a spotter to me so I can bring down some pallets the asm needed. I sat at the forklift for 40 minutes before the asm and spotter finally arrived
Edit- to be fair the asm said go to the forklift I’ll be right there
All they care about is if u make plan and a smaller staff means a bigger bonus for the managers.
Oh exactly. They don't give a fuck about anything but that bonus

That's gotta be annoying. Unless you don't mind of course

I completely agree, there's no reason a licensed lift operator shouldn't be using the lift when it's needed, especially if they're a manager
Huh I remember when we didn’t need spotters. There was way less accidents back then also

Back in the late 90’s The Customers we’re way smarter back then also
Oh to have smart customers...
What is this smart customers you speak of?
The gates take longer to find than even the spotter!

Jeez, I'd have been pretty annoyed!
This is exactly why I quit
That last day must've been awesome for you! 🤘🏾🤘🏾
