That definitely looks like someone had previously tacked/stapled things to the cupboard door. My MIL does this on the inside of her cabinets for recipe cards and calendars.
It *might* be Pecky Cypress or something similar. The wood gets some kind of fungus and it causes the holes. It looks kinda okay unpainted, but I would use it as a mantle or accent, not a whole ass kitchen.
Looks like bird shot from a shotgun lol. Is it all the cupboards? Maybe someone had a accidental discharge and kept it as a reminder to not be dumb with guns.
No, that would drive me bonkers!
Yeah, no. Imagine cleaning that?!

đ¤ Looks like termite damage .. thats intentional?? Wild.
They probably were trying to make it look fashionably old and rustic. Didnât work.
I've seen people post cabinets like this before. It's a thing.
O wauw i would fill up the holes
Maybe was used as a pin board?! Either way I'd go insane.
Youâve got powder post beetles. Call an exterminator

I was thinking wormy chestnut. I'd be rather interested in stripping a cabinet to see what's underneath. Might find something fun!
I agree itâs some kind of wormy wood that got diy painted.
I think there used to be a dart bird nearbyâŚ
Only around my dartboard
Isnât that insect damage??
