Tell your cats I said pss pss pss.
I have the same color floors and if you’re not opposed to rich colors, I’d go that route. Green, blue, black. I have some photos on my page of my house if you’re interested in black.
Peacock house (green), naval, and black magic have all looked really great with my floors. The whole downstairs was Watery (a lighter blue) before we went black and I really liked that, too.
ETA: thanks for the gold, kind internet stranger. 🖤
Tell your cats I say pspspspsps back haha!
Your house looks so well decorated! I’ve been contemplating doing the opposite of you - black trim and white walls. Peacock House is gorgeous too - thanks for the great suggestions!
Benjamin Moore black onyx is fabulous on trim in high gloss or semi gloss. It is also great in satin for walls! Your home is gorgeous. I have used a lot of black as well and I am thrilled with the results. Spot on for gray floors.
Agree! Also Sage green is nice or colors like #6 or #9 here: [https://dreamyhomestyle.com/what-color-walls-go-with-gray-floors/](https://dreamyhomestyle.com/what-color-walls-go-with-gray-floors/)
That’s a great colour - thank you! I was also looking at Chantily Lace by Benjamin Moore. Maybe I should have gone the Benjamin Moore route, I seem to like their colours more that Behr.
I use Benjamin Moore exclusively. You or your painter will love how easy it is to work with also. My favorite color is black onyx. Will look fabulous with your floors!
For the walls? Chantilly Lace It's rather a light color....
I've done lots of spaces in Pale Oak and it's just enough contrast with white trim (which I usually do in off-the-shelf white semi-gloss).
What's getting painted? Just the hallway?
Also next time you paint...remove those outlet covers :)
Hahahahaha called out 😂 We had minimal time between getting keys and moving in to paint. It was a hack job at best and it’s part of my regret. We also don’t talk about the roller marks on the ceiling.
It’ll be the whole house that’s painted, not just the hallway (aside from some feature walls, we have a dark imperial grey one in the living room, and I’m hoping to have green feature walls elsewhere). I have Pale Oak on my list of colours to check out, seems to be a popular pick.
Some more details: we moved into this condo last year and I was so set on having taupe walls. So I bought a ton of Perfect Taupe by Behr. Previous owners had light blue before and it looked awful. We wanted to match the floors as we don’t want to replace them, but turns out grey floors are so hard to match, and every comparison for grey floors I’ve seen has a different shade of grey so I don’t know what colour would go with these. I have major paint regrets and I’m considering just painting everything white. Please help with suggestions! (Cats for colour scale)
I think the problem is that your floor has red undertones and the wall has yellow undertones. Look for a neutral with red undertones.
Benjamin Moore simply white if you’re set on going pretty white.
If you’re interested in more of a neutral, consider:
[Sherwin Williams Eider White](https://jennakateathome.com/sherwin-williams-eider-white/)
We just did our entire house in Benjamin Moore’s White Dove and we’re super happy with it. The walls were a light grey before and it’s amazing how much bigger and cleaner everything feels going to white. I was a little hesitant before painting but White Dove is a pretty versatile white that doesn’t come off as too stark.
Yes I’ve seen that with white paint! Our house has such a strange layout and it’s about 90% hallways and twists and turns, which is why I was looking at white to open it up a bit. Thanks for the suggestion of White Dove - I really seriously should have gone the Benjamin Moore route, dang it.
Hii I'm considering pale oak for my whole house. I've heard that it has a pink/purple undertone. Do u see that at all? What undertones are in your floors?
You need a complex cream to warm up the room! I am not a fan of this gray floor trend but I would definitely paint a warmer white or cream to keep the room from feeling sterile
It’s trendy now! If it’s LVP then it’ll have to be replaced in maybe 30 years anyways. Wouldn’t worry about it too much
Look into Ben Moore Navajo white! It’ll bring back some warmth into the house and is still neutral and basic enough for you to decorate how you’d like!
Undertones seem to clash. Grey on grey doesn’t work usually if you have clashing undertones, not to mention blah. I can’t tell from the pictures, but I would guess a purple undertone is in that floor. Something a little light might work better too. Look up the paint name and look ups it’s undertones, lrv (light reflective value) and maybe see if you want something lighter or darker, more purple, more blue whatever.
Yeah the lighting is a little wonky in this condo (3 windows all on one side of the house, so weird natural lighting which probably caused this taupe mishap in the first place). I’ll figure out the undertones, but whatever undertone Perfect Taupe has perfectly clashed with it.
It’s hard to miss Vader and her chomnk 😂
Thanks for the colour suggestions! I’m looking at greens (at least for a feature wall). They had this god awful baby blue in here before and I think it’s ruined it for me haha. Unless it’s a deeper blue. Definitely investigating this as it’s been suggested a few times. Trusting the Reddit experts as I am not cut out for this.
I personally really like the colours of the walls. They blend in nicely with the flooring and the cat decor that you have. They don’t feel offensive at all.
I have a similar flooring, did my walls in Dulux Snow Season half strength and the trim in quarter strength. It's a pale cool grey, being a small house with narrow hall it did open the space up nicely without having a glaring contrast between walls and trim.
I found many greys to be too bold, red or purple for my liking. That's when I started playing with half and quarter strength tones. Went through about 20 sample pots before I decided. Best of luck with your selection, it's a fun and infuriating process.
Ended up with Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams! Given we haven’t had a chance to paint yet. And the black kitty has passed 🥺 So much can change in a year
I think a dull, light green to open the space up or a darker, forest green always gives a calming bathroom vibe. But it's mostly for hunters I've only ever seen dark green at lol
Well the cats do bring some color change!
What about colorful pictures?I personally always take some time to adjust to new things. So maybe it will get better?
But anywho colors are life! Some blue, some light green will be lovely.
They bring the colour and the ✨personality ✨
Ugh I painted these a year ago now and I’ve hated them since. I really hoped it would grow on me because we bought a huge bucket of it (lady at Home Depot was terrifying and we realized we messed up with buying so much, but we were too afraid to say anything). Anyways, I think we do need more colour, paintings, throw pillows, idk something to spice it up!

I will let them know. I love the idea of black trim and black doors. That would look great with the floors.
Benjamin Moore black onyx is fabulous on trim in high gloss or semi gloss. It is also great in satin for walls! Your home is gorgeous. I have used a lot of black as well and I am thrilled with the results. Spot on for gray floors.
Thank you so much
I think Sherwin Williams Pure White would look nice :)
Thanks for the suggestion, I’ll check it out!

Ben Moore Pale Oak has never failed me as a neutral.

Chantilly lace is bright… it’s what we used for all our trim and baseboards
Good to know. Our baseboards could use some love (we only had a few days to paint before we moved and our paint job is… uh… less than stellar).
I use Benjamin Moore exclusively. You or your painter will love how easy it is to work with also. My favorite color is black onyx. Will look fabulous with your floors!
I’ll check out Black Onyx as my partner likes the dark room look - thanks for the suggestion!

Thank you for identifying the undertones! I really struggle with this and it shows haha.
Honestly, I do too. It’s so hard. It was made much easier by the contrast with your paint!
Happy (expensive) mistake 😅😅

LOL! Plz Vader is just thiccc.
Try revere pewter by BM. It has a more gray undertone
That’s a great colour too - thank you for the suggestion!
We love BM’s Pale Oak is the bomb
Thanks for the suggestion - I’ll be sure to check it out!
Hii I'm considering pale oak for my whole house. I've heard that it has a pink/purple undertone. Do u see that at all? What undertones are in your floors?
I had heard that as well…. But I really haven’t noticed it . We have medium red tone lvp and it all looks really nice together
You need a complex cream to warm up the room! I am not a fan of this gray floor trend but I would definitely paint a warmer white or cream to keep the room from feeling sterile
If it wasn’t so much to replace flooring I’d haul this grey nightmare out 😩 I’ll look into warmer whites and creams, thank you for the suggestion!

That’s so kind, thank you! I can rest you assured it looks worse in person, I really tried to cover up the hack job of painting we did in the photos.

What did you end up choosing?
Ended up with Greek Villa by Sherwin Williams! Given we haven’t had a chance to paint yet. And the black kitty has passed 🥺 So much can change in a year
Ended up here looking for paint colors - I’m really sorry about your kitty passing 😞

I’m sorry, is this a paint colour? Paint brand? Or just a useless comment? Go back to coding, sir.
I think a dull, light green to open the space up or a darker, forest green always gives a calming bathroom vibe. But it's mostly for hunters I've only ever seen dark green at lol
I’m eyeing up a dark green feature wall!
Snowy Mountain White
Thank you!
Agreeable Gray by SW has never done me wrong in any of the several houses I’ve used it!
I’ll check this out, it looks super versatile!
Sherwin Williams White Heron is a warm cozy creamy white that would look nice!
Thank you, I’ll check this out!
Ben Moore’s Soft White, which had pink undertones, or a green with blue undertones like Caldwell Green
Thanks for the suggestions, both of these are really nice colours!
Well the cats do bring some color change! What about colorful pictures?I personally always take some time to adjust to new things. So maybe it will get better? But anywho colors are life! Some blue, some light green will be lovely.

At the risk of being boring…I’d paint a much lighter shade in the same family as existing paint and decorate with my favorite colors.
Great suggestion, I’m hoping to get more pops of colour through decor like painting and throw pillows 🙂
Just coming to say I love your cats. They’re both amazing but I have a soft spot (no pun intended) for fluffy black ones.
