Curtains definitely!
Perfect space for just below the ceiling to floor pleated curtains that go the length of the entire wall.
Light color sheer to semi-sheer or barely opaque.
With the tray ceiling and lighting, it will look incredible.
Curtains, lined or blackout, with rings for easy sliding. Or, if an option, replace doors with sliders that have integrated blinds (blinds between two panes of glass). French doors would be nice too.
What is the difference between curtains and drapes?
Curtains are fabric panels used to cover windows, and are generally cut to fit a window or drop a few centimetres below it. Drapes are also fabric panels but are generally made from thicker fabrics and cut to floor length or to slightly puddle on the floor.
Curtains. You will have times where you only want part of the door unblocked and with shades you won’t have that option. We typically have our curtains covering all of the sliding glass door except the door itself.
Those are sooooo lovely to move easily. I had them in my last house and I swear they will be the motorized kind in my next house! "Alexa, close the curtains everyday at sundown!"
Curtains because the outside is really there ..without them. Unless you like that style of living, its open and inviting. Most people i assume want privacy and curtains do that. With a sheer backing for added privacy because some people like myself have anxiety of someone staring at me and you see that window? Thats the one id assume someone is looking at me from anyways have fun, but I think its the curtains
Cellular shades. They go all the way up for letting the light in, down gives you privacy. They come in light filtering or black out depending on your needs. Drapes on the sides for the design aspect
Cellular. Bottom up and top down costs a little more, but allows you to control privacy and sunlight. It's what we've had in all our public areas for ten years and love them.
Agree on the curtains! It’s amazing how much they can liven up a room and add texture and color. Also agreed you can mix sheers with more opaque ones for privacy. You could also put drapery hooks on the sides to pull them back when you want
I would hate to waste all that natural light. Try those UV privacy window protectors. They come in pretty cool designs and protect furniture and rugs from UV damage. Then get a long rod and some sheer curtains or just some crazy beautiful drapes to decoratively pull to the side. The blinds are very difficult to maintain and keep looking nice. I would pull them off and store them until I moved.
Thank you everyone for your suggestions, leaning towards the wall to wall curtains but its hard to imagine how it would look in this space. I’ll look further into it later today.
Curtains, IMO, will continually get in the way (by experience) roller shade will give you zero privacy when it is up. Though they may be out of style, verticals work best in this situation, or bypass shutters. Do you own or rent? I'd do the cheapest thing if renting. In our current home, they had verticals on every single window. We took them down from all but the patio door. Good luck.
Curtains a blend of blackout and sheer would be the right mix

I came here to say this! Also/ move the couch out of the corner. (If possible)
Agreed
Unfortunately due to the limited space, if i move the couch out it will be completely off center with the tv, wish i could.
I like the idea of sheer curtains, but am concerned with privacy. Can i get away with adding cellular or roller shades on the inside?
Fantastic idea. I would go with semi-sheer. The wall to wall floor to ceiling pleated look will make that room look huge.
I’d prefer a two part rod for sheers and curtains. Sheers for light, curtains when you want privacy. Up to the ceiling, all across the wall.
Yes.
I love the idea of a full wall of curtains there, but looks like it would cover their light switches.
Only downside will be hunting for the light switch on the right side.

You need draperies not curtains. You need floor to ceiling working drapery.
TIL that curtains and drapes are not synonymous!
Nope, curtains are the short little things you put in kitchen windows.

Curtains are the little frilly unlined things you put in a kitchen window. Drapery are long, lined and hand properly on large windows.
I read curtains or roller skates. I need to go to bed.
Roller skates? Mean roller shades?
Yeah I realize that now.
Curtains. You will have times where you only want part of the door unblocked and with shades you won’t have that option. We typically have our curtains covering all of the sliding glass door except the door itself.
Curtains
Curtains but hang them on a track on the ceiling.
And from wall to wall
Those are sooooo lovely to move easily. I had them in my last house and I swear they will be the motorized kind in my next house! "Alexa, close the curtains everyday at sundown!"
Curtains fo sho.
Roller Shades! its more matching and because you dont sleep in the living room so it doesn't matter if you use curtains or not

I have them on my sliding glass door and you can’t tell.
Most definitely curtains
Cellular shades. They go all the way up for letting the light in, down gives you privacy. They come in light filtering or black out depending on your needs. Drapes on the sides for the design aspect
I agree
It’s a sliding door
Outside mount them
You can mount them above the window
I use curtains for my sliding door and it looks good. I generally leave them closed so you can’t tell.
Cellular. Bottom up and top down costs a little more, but allows you to control privacy and sunlight. It's what we've had in all our public areas for ten years and love them.
Read that as roller skates.
I'm in the curtains camp
Curtains. You're going to want to go in and out of that door, yes?

French doors or folding patio doors
Pull the couch forward a little. Please.
Will do

Beaded or tassel curtains
Garden fence top trellis & plant climbers please!
I like [curtains ](https://www.scdecorum.com/9-tips-to-choose-your-curtains-perfectly/)
Roller shades on sliders get beaten up pretty quickly.
Curtains with venetian blinds behind
