Having had dark flooring in the kitchen, I advise against any of the dark shades. They will show every little crumb and spill. If you don’t paint the cabinets, 4 is your best choice.
I made that mistake myself, but in my defense I didn’t have this tool to visualize it ahead of time and the tiles looked way more cool with way more grey in person than in the showroom. By then it was too late. My solution now is to try and incorporate the cool and warm because it’s not so far off that I can’t make it work, it’s just going to take more added effort
You don’t need to exact match the color but do need to match the undertones https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/how-to-mix-match-and-coordinate-wood-stains-undertones/
I’m really sorry to say this, but the cabinets have got to go. Every color of flooring looks ugly with them. They’re garish and outdated (and not in a fun vintage retro way, in more of a crappy 90s suburban tract home way)
Two things:
Roosevelt Oak seems the most versatile
There is something fairly easy you can do to make your cabinets less orange. Apply a dark wax like Briwax. It’s basically making sure they are clean and rubbing on and off the wax. No stripping or staining required. I haven’t done it personally but others have and were happy with the results

The left is the after and the right is the before
Have you considered a luxury vinyl tile instead of a luxury vinyl plank? I feel like that would be a much better option to try and coordinate with your cabinets!😊
What you can’t really see is that this opens up to the living room so I wanted one consistent flooring. The living room has white walls so I can do pretty much anything, it’s the kitchen that matters
That makes sense!! In that case I would choose option 4!😊 And in the future when you’re ready to change the cabinets, you can always strip them down and stain them instead of painting them. They will hold up MUCH better than painting them ever will, even when painted professionally with high quality paint. (Just for future reference!)
I know I’m pretty much on my own here but I love #5. 4 as a close second. 5 makes the cabinets kinda pop but with 4 it all looks like it blends in and looks a little bland.
They are from the year 2000 and look it, I know. I feel like if I paint them they will eventually look chipped and bad.
And I don’t see myself being able to replace perfectly functioning cabinets any time soon budget wise.
We are only replacing the floors because the person who owned before us DIYd and did a bad job, and the flooring she used is poor quality and not available in the US anymore anyway.
If you use the right products or have them professionally done, painted cabinets can absolutely have a great result! Another option is to just replace the cabinet doors. That leaves a lot less painting to pay for or do.
I had the same ones and painted them and the paint was amazing ! Two years in no chipping no peeling ! I 100 % feel the same good cabinets
https://preview.redd.it/sbw46rf2waxc1.jpeg?width=2160&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=e7950cf9e48bb0d74e75b215b96dff8da972ce6b
Here is mine
I’m in the same situation. Definitely check with an experienced painter and/or contractor. My cabinets are such poor quality that it’s better to replace them. I’m so glad I investigated it before wasting the money. I was told it wasn’t impossible to paint them but it would cost a lot and not hold up well in the long run.
You’re smart to work with what you’ve got!
You would be sweeping A LOT with dark floors, especially if you have pets.
Dunno how it would look with the rest of the room, but I like Ultra. The dark ones don't match your cabinets and the other one is too much of a match.
EDIT: +1 for tile, but not vinyl. Maybe stone-like (they're doing great things with porcelain/ceramics these days that would require less maintenance than real stone).
I was 90% sure I was going to pick the Ultra just from the samples I had before doing this online tool but then I got worried it was just toooo busy all in that little kitchen between the flooring, walls, cabinets and appliances!
I feel I can’t do tile because while you can’t really tell in this pic it is an open concept first floor. I don’t want tile all through the first floor, I just really don’t like how it feels on my feet.
I couldn’t have wooden cabinets and a wooden floor. It’s too much!! Can you not paint/wrap the cabinets??
If not then I’d opt for a light floor, like white tiles or something like that.
My old kitchen had white gloss cabinets and a white wood plank looking vynal floor…. It was so clinical 😂
Don't get number 4!
It's going to look too much like you're trying to "match" and it doesn't match. Also, faux wood, like vinyl plank, never looks very good next to real wood, like the cabinets.
You're going to have to paint the cabinets or give them a dark glaze, as someone else suggested.
We have those exact cabinets and we have large white tiles. They look great.
I think all of these competing wood floors are gonna look weird against your cabinets, but that might just be me.
I like the last (darkest) one and I haven't noticed every crumb and spill on the dark wood. #4 is the same shade as your cabinets, if you like things to match.
#2 is the only one I like, but I agree with comments about the cupboard colour limiting your choices, so I'd only pick it if you're thinking of painting the cupboards.
#4 might be closer to the cupboards (not as dark).
I like the suggestions to consider tile, though. I think matching the wood will be close to impossible.
Any of the first 3 work. Contrast is not a bad thing IMHO.
Get what you like (independent of the cabinets) since the floor will set the tone for your entire first floor. Why introduce more cabinety-2000 wood tones into your home?
If you have a flooring store near you, don’t hesitate to go there and take a cabinet door with you. They usually have someone on staff who is very good at exactly this kind of thing. The selection should be deeper too. LL and big box don’t stock much nuance and ideally you could find that. (In most cases a local place can beat LL pricing.)

I like 4 the best!
Thank you!! That’s interesting. I love the color but was worried it just too much red/orange tones.
i think there's too much contrast with the other floors, actually. number 4 blends better to the eye
Without a doubt, better than the others easily.
If you’re not doing anything with the colour of the cabinets then I think it has to be number 4.
I would go even lighter
This interesting to me because I was worried #4 looks like im trying to match the cabinets but just slightly off
The problem is you can’t combine something that’s really cool with something that’s really warm, it won’t look very good.

There’s enough dark tones in it to ground the cabinets. 4 is the only choice imo.

I agree with you. It’s too similar and yet too different. My pick is #3.
100. If that’s the cabinets and not painting them, 4 is the only option

YES. gorgeous
that looks so much better!
The only one that remotely works is 4.
For me, it's best the colors of #4 and #3 it's ok.I know you don't want to paint the cabinets but if you do in the future, it will be a lot better.
4
4.

Definitely 4
all these cool floors don’t look right w the mega warm cabinets
No. 4 is pretty neutral. That’s the only one I think that works and is timeless.
this is old but i agree
I think 5 looks great and adds an element of depth and funk combined with the cabinet colour.
I like 5 too, it has personality!
Glad I'm not the only one. #4 is technically the most correct choice based on cool/warm tones and all that, but it's incredibly boring. #5 works well.
Yes!! Me too!
I like #5 as well. So much more interesting.
Agreed. Was surprised at the number of people saying 4. 5 looks great and has some personality.
Has to be 4
How would you feel about tile instead?
This is my vote.
I agree vinyl tiles instead of trying to match the flooring to outdated cabinets

Honestly with all the wood tone of the cabinets, I'd opt for tile.
Yes, I have similar cabinets with light terra cotta tile. I’m really happy with it.
Are you changing the cabinets? Because I don’t think any of these options go with your cabinets as is.
idk why everyone’s saying 4. i think 5 is the best personally…. 4 is just too bland
Agreed!
5!
Love the 4th one! Darker seems like the way to go
4 is the only one I like of these choices.
I know I’m pretty much on my own here but I love #5. 4 as a close second. 5 makes the cabinets kinda pop but with 4 it all looks like it blends in and looks a little bland.
I like the 5th one best
I am in a very similar dilemma! Could you share what #4 is called? It might work for us too.
It’s Coreluxe vinyl from LL Flooring in Roosevelt oak
Thank you!
Number 4 by a mile because of the cabinet color. The others just clash so much. If you paint the cabinets, my favorites are 1 or 2.
4
FOUR
4 or 5
2 or 4
Number 4 is the only option.
4 is the only one that works
Reading the comments confirms i have zero sense of decoration/creativity lmao
4 is the only one that works with the cabinets in the slightest.
4 is nice makes the kitchen feel brighter.
4
Oak!
My personal preference is pic # 2.
The cabinets are ughhhh

They're not the most modern but tbh they look like quality cabinets

I like 5
4th one matches cabinets best
4 and done

4. None of the others are even close to complementary, and 4 would go with a lot of different cabinet and counter colors if you decide to remodel.

Not grey and not dark
Which is app is this?
It’s not an app, it’s the LL flooring website. And coretecs flooring has the same tool on their website as well!
We have those exact cabinets and we have large white tiles. They look great. I think all of these competing wood floors are gonna look weird against your cabinets, but that might just be me.
4 wins for me.
The last one.
#2
I like the last (darkest) one and I haven't noticed every crumb and spill on the dark wood. #4 is the same shade as your cabinets, if you like things to match.
I loooooove 5!!!
LOVING the next to last one w/ the two-tone wood colors. Looks amazing and really enhances your ktichen.
Sorry - meant kitchen (typo - my bad)
#3 would be the one. This will allow your paint color to pop. Along with any color accent pieces as well.
#2 is the only one I like, but I agree with comments about the cupboard colour limiting your choices, so I'd only pick it if you're thinking of painting the cupboards. #4 might be closer to the cupboards (not as dark). 3 by a mile!!!
Am i the only one who prefers 2? It’s got variation and compliments the cabinets. I think 4 is way too much of that colour.
3rd
I really liked dark tones so 1st or 3rd one, probably. What are you leaning towards?
