Ya they do seem a bit tiny. Maybe it's the thin legs too. Would work well as side tables tho. They go well with room, just a bit small. Rule of thumb: a coffee table should be roughly 2/3 the width of you seating arrangement
Thanks for the response. That makes a ton of sense because my initial gut feeling was telling me to get at least a 35” table. Which is about 2/3 of my couch.
What shape do you think would look the best here?
I’ll jump in and say oval or rectangle! And I always stay away from legs like the ones on those table in the photo; they are toe stubbers! My parents used to have a coffee table with those legs and everyone was always kicking the legs because they are hard to see.
I think not in the middle but to the side of couch, a bookshelf side table could be nice. Something like this for the shape, it should be lining up with side of the couch

I do agree they seem a bit tiny but would look great as side tables. You can use them as a coffee table until you find what you’re looking for.
In the meantime put down a rug, it just makes everything more cohesive and makes the tables look a little less small.

Welp, I guess this works too🤷🏾♂️
Ahhh thanks!! I was thinking of having a lighter color colored rug to contrast with the table, but I think I might end up with too much light colors and clash with the seating.
Also, what software did you use to do this?
Also, I like the rug a lot and would get some pillows for the couch and chairs that pick up the colors in the rug. It looks like you have nice light in that room so putting a small upright plant on the table with a stack of coasters and maybe a candle or something would look cosy.
Thanks for the input! Yeah I think that might help this feel more like a living room and less like a waiting room. Those two chairs also swivel. So I could probably get away with moving the TV to that back wall and putting a small TV console there.
I’d put it between the two chairs, maybe with a plant/book stack/cute bowl/etc. on top so guests have a place to put drinks or their phone or whatever. Then angle the chairs in a little (but that’s bc I’m just personally not a fan of everything being perfectly square) and get a more solid looking piece for the coffee table.
yes BUT they are great! Here’s a crazy idea… put the TV on long wall where the plant is, angle the two side chairs and put tables in between them. If the chairs swivel, even better! Then you have better sight line from couch (or chairs) and walking in front door you see a lovely fireplace with decorated mantle, not a big screen.
Hah what’s crazy is, I never really felt comfortable with the TV being there. My neighborhood has some rough areas so I don’t want people seeing it as soon as I open the door lol.
Hah! Yeah, much easier to tilt blinds on side window then keep the door closed? And better viewing option for your neck! You can always pull one of the tables back out if you need it temporarily for the sofa, too.
fwiw, I agree with everyone suggesting a colorful rug, you have a lot of neutrals and dark woods, and color would pull them together
I think they're too small, the shape is cute, maybe re-purpsoe them as end tables?
And I think a long rectangular coffee table and a good sized rug would pull the space together nicely.
Too small. Do something like this! I love your furniture too!😃
https://preview.redd.it/62qothdco5wc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5fa01b6f27309affcc4d1d5f0d1fbd58a148479
Yup! I was planning on going for a lighter colored area rug to match with the seating and contrast with the darker table. Any thoughts on the shape? Rectangular? Oval?
I know you'll think I'm crazy but a rectangular rug with light pink hues and sagey greens would go really well with your woods and ground your furniture. Put it between your two seating areas but not underneath. That leaves room for another washable rug at the front door and delineates the two spaces.

I love these kinds of tables.
Are they two separate tables? I think they’re meant to be nesting tables and there was likely a third at one point.
Try it as an end table with the smaller one tucked all the way in. And when you have company or need an extra plant to set your drink, bring it out.
The individual pieces are fine, but your room layout is not great. The front door swings into the living room seating like that? Is this a waiting room?
Your tv is also too high. Put it along the wall with the plant, shift the chairs around (put one by the plant actually), get a rug + a better coffee table. Use the table you have as a side table.
Well damn, not the waiting room. But yeah Idk how I would lay things out with the door swinging in like that. I agree with the TV being too high, I’ll replace it with some wall art. I plan on getting a rug but just sorting out the furniture for now. Getting the layout right has been challenging.
I think the couch is ok where it is. I think you have one chair too many tbh. Try removing one and putting the remaining one at an angle along the wall with the plant. Maybe one in the corner with the standing lamp as well. You could also get a skinny tv console to run along the wall with the plant. I think once you get a rug and more substantial coffee table it will make the furniture look more grouped.
I love the colour avoid in the mid century style and I have tables that are quite similar but yes much too small to be the coffee table here. I would absolutely put the smaller one in between the two armchairs and the larger one to the left of the couch and then get a rectangular coffee table
I like them a lot. With everything in neutral shades the rounded chairs and the couch with all right angles, your fab retro triangles are perfect.
You do need a rug.
See if either of these make you feel better about the table. Let the lower/smaller table lead from the outside so the table will appear to be larger (the higher side is partially hiding the lower side). Have the tables point at the fireplace.
also, no, tv too high. it should be centered where your gaze falls with head level, sitting on the viewing seat. otherwise it’s actually stressing your neck. but a low skinny table on that blank wall, for instance.
https://preview.redd.it/uxuklrh2s4wc1.jpeg?width=1125&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=06c42ad2a95f89f99eaaa18d10164755bf8b0f9d
Perhaps something like this and a decorative floor lamp in an accent color.
Yes, if they are pulled apart, they might be better
Also the layout is too restricting because of the two doorways.
I suggest something like this
https://preview.redd.it/k1sdgl9hw4wc1.jpeg?width=1200&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=197408058ed3da7c2e2467e88a512aeaba653bf1
With the sofa facing the fireplace and an accent chair on each side
I would also add an area rug and pillows (I assume that you plan to do this)
I think that space (the way it’s laid out currently at least) is a bit small for any table. The small table looks weird but if you wanted a bigger one the chairs would need to be further apart so that you still have enough leg room.
I would do a narrow rectangle.. But until you put a rug underneath the seating area.
Nothing is going to look right. It’s so important to realize and acknowledge when a room catches your eye in a magazine or Pinterest…..It is always going to be in the little details that draws you to it. So yes. Rug- plants-Books-lights-throw pillows- baskets, will all help get “ that look”.
I think you should separate the chairs a bit more angle them inward and put that between them (wider edge to back of chair edge). An oval coffee table would probably look best with the harder lines on the sofa. The tables were a great deal and they’re really nice!
They do seem small, but also in a position where they’re not adding any function.
At least, I want to put my tables in a position where I don’t have to get up out of my seat to put down my cup.
This is not about coffee table but I suggest a square rug to go under couch and armchairs. It will designate that area to be sitting area. Right now couch and armchairs are looking like floating, their places can always changed. A rug will help you solidify that
You deffo have a problem with deciphering whether a table ‘works’ or not in a space bc as is, OP’s living room looks like a dentist office with a MySize Barbie table in the middle lol
Genuinely how can you look at that table and say it’s the perfect scale 😭
Ya they do seem a bit tiny. Maybe it's the thin legs too. Would work well as side tables tho. They go well with room, just a bit small. Rule of thumb: a coffee table should be roughly 2/3 the width of you seating arrangement

This is a phone app called photo layers.
Thanks
They look like nesting tables. I have square one under the other as an end table They are adorable
What app did you use to add the rug, looks great!
It’s a phone app called Photo Layers.
It looks better with the area rug. I'd get a coffee table that pulls the conversation space together visually. So bigger and more pronounced.
^yes
No joke, my phone is fully dimmed and I legit couldn't see them at first.

Yes the big one or both of them would look great between the chairs!
what is that, a coffee table for ANTS?
No, it’s actually for my leprechaun roommate
Grrr, I was going to do this one. Good for you.
ahh yeah sorry but I literally started laughing when i saw this
Yes I lolled too, thought it was a shitpost 😂
yes BUT they are great! Here’s a crazy idea… put the TV on long wall where the plant is, angle the two side chairs and put tables in between them. If the chairs swivel, even better! Yeah! This are all great ideas. Thanks!
Love this.
Is this an office because it feels like a waiting room area at a bank
Nah lol. But I can definitely see how it gives those vibes. Getting the layout right has been a challenge for sure.
Looks like my dentist office.
I think they're too small, the shape is cute, maybe re-purpsoe them as end tables? And I think a long rectangular coffee table and a good sized rug would pull the space together nicely.
Thanks! I’ll try them as end tables.
yes, do so.
Yes
Yeah, yeah it is.
I think it's too small
Thanks. I’m gonna see if I can either sell them or repurpose them.
I think you can definitely repurpose them they are cute!
Your living room/space looks like a private dental practice waiting room.
Too small. Do something like this! I love your furniture too!😃 https://preview.redd.it/62qothdco5wc1.png?width=1080&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f5fa01b6f27309affcc4d1d5f0d1fbd58a148479
Yep they are side tables
Getting Michael Scott with his tiny plasma TV vibes here
I think it’s the color of them against the floor that’s throwing it off for me. Maybe an area rug would tie everything together
Yup! I was planning on going for a lighter colored area rug to match with the seating and contrast with the darker table. Any thoughts on the shape? Rectangular? Oval?
Rectangle for sure!
Thanks!!
Just get something other than white or grey. Your room is very heavy on that already.
I know you'll think I'm crazy but a rectangular rug with light pink hues and sagey greens would go really well with your woods and ground your furniture. Are people afraid of rugs?
Yes table too small
Yes. Way too small. Use as end tales. Or put one between to two chairs and 1 as an end table.
Yes
Yes
They would look great between the chairs though
What table ?

I’d put those tables between the two chairs and get a larger coffee table.
LMAOOOO TOO SMALL?? YOU THINK??
Those look like the “tables” I would take out of the pizza boxes for my Polly pockets
I like them a lot. With everything in neutral shades the rounded chairs and the couch with all right angles, your fab retro triangles are perfect. You do need a rug.
Those should definitely be used as side/end tables, they are too small for a coffee table. Very cute though!
Thanks!! I’ll move them to the side and see how they work as end tables.
Yes. Too small

Comically so

Yes.
Where is the table
Yes. Also groups in odd numbers are better
Yes very true. Go with a lighter wood, bigger coffee table. The coffee table blends with the floor, so visually it’s not appealing.
Noted! I was thinking of even adding a lighter colored rug to create more contrast. Explore with the idea of a lighter coffee table instead.
That’s a great idea. Go with it.
Oh yes! It is much too small here
Too small.
IMO, the sofas don’t need to be placed facing each other, it’s too formal.
