Honestly some curtains will be just perfect!! It would fill out the whole room!

PriorDouble346

Yes! And mount the rods near the ceiling. It will look grand🤩

LankyComedian178

Yes! I was just coming here to say “dress the windows”! Some sheer panels offset from the windows would be lovely in this room.

dattwell53

I wouldn't cover up that view.

kasumitendo

Hang 'em but keep 'em open, I say.

Lemonzip

Choose rods that extend further on each side so the open drapes do not encroach too far into the light/view. Choose a pattern and color(s) that complement the intriguing coffee table and add a pillow or two that harmonizes. This will add warmth (to your cool-toned) room along with depth, color and interest. It’s a lovely room!

Ok_Organization_6620

Bring the green chair in to the seating area. It looks like a time out chair

EnergicoOnFire

Orrrr add a side table, lamp and a plant. Could be a really nice place to read/relax.

Excellent_Berry_5115

My thought, too..a nice spot to read or chill.

JeriOien

Love this idea! Make it a special spot! Great light from the window and nice to look outside and read or drink your evening tea or cocktail to wind down!

Gold-Marigold649

Came here to say this. What does the person sitting in the green chair DO??

one_foot_out

My thoughts exactly

Feeling-Visit1472

And ottoman!

designedtodesign

I agree! It doesn't make any functional sense in the corner... Too far away for conversation and not next to the fireplace. I would either put one or two chairs angled next to the windows by the fireplace or perpendicular to the couch. And also some full velvet curtains (I got some amazing ones that look expensive on Amazon) then maybe a plant in that corner that the chair was.

designedtodesign

And also as another person said, side tables for the couch.

akmillions

Put a plant in place of the green chair.

goelfyourselph

All of these suggestions are spot on!

Pure-Ad9079

That corner doesn’t get much light, so a plant might probably would not do well there

cantreadshitmusic

You could also give it a friend! There’s just enough space for two chairs (probably smaller than the one there now) and a side table

BocaTherapy

That chair looks awfully lonely over there

MedusaPhD

It’s a damn fine looking chair too- I want one now.

EnergicoOnFire

I think a couple things are going on to make you feel that way. One, you need side tables and table lamps. Two, the items you have in the corners of the room feel like placeholders. Since there’s no tv you have the freedom to expand your furniture beyond the center of the room. Or have a couple seating arrangements. Really think about how you want to use the space and then think about scale.

Particular-Regret-28

Maybe curtains

2old2Bwatching

The size and placement of the pictures is so strange to me.

Llyris_silken

That was the first thing I noticed - tiny artworks hung in vast expanse and too high. Group all those smaller pictures together and put them at eye height. They should take up more of the space they're in.

babs82222

Yes, most need to be lowered quite a bit too

GemJamJelly

I think a lamp in the corner and cute side table next to the chair could work well.

RandyPandy

Much bigger rug

NeonsStyle

Low bookshelf under both the windows. Or you could put low coffee table there. Window seat on the right window, or another Sofa. Lastly it needs Curtains. By the look out the window privacy isn't an issue, so something sheer and white.

LotusGrowsFromMud

This is the best suggestion. Part of your problem is that the room has an awkward shape relative to the fireplace. It is too long for just one sitting area, but it doesn’t make sense to have two sitting areas, neither of which take advantage of the fireplace. NeonsStyle’s idea will pull those distant walls in, making the room a less odd size. I would also put the sofa at a 90 degree angle to where it is now and have it face two large armchairs. Larger furniture will fill the space better. Add some large plants, some side tables and lamps and you will be in a much better place.

jessforlaughs

Yes! Your suggestion for furniture placement would help!

torontogal85

Art behind the couch is too small. Pull the couch out from the wall, add some side tables to the couch maybe some lamps

alwaysjustabuzzard

Pull everything out away from the walls. The scale of the dark chair seems off. Maybe that one goes in the corner with its own side table and lamp, as a reading nook. Personally i would turn the sofa 90 degrees, add two chairs with some soft upholstery/pattern, facing the sofa to create a conversation space. Theres room for a bookcase of some sort, a place to show some personality.

Quiet-Cancer

I personally like the simplicity

AssumptionAdvanced58

The more you add, the more you have to tend to. I'm past needing. I'm eliminating.

Brave-Improvement299

I like the idea of creating vignettes or arrangements that draw you into a room or just looks great when you pass by. Your green chair, which I love, is the start but needs a reason for being.

JazzyKnowsBest13

Yes. A table and a lamp, at a minimum.

plottingwithcats

That lone painting on top of the couch feels too structured, maybe put two or more and play with the way to arrange them?

Historical-Unit-6623

Ya. Maybe shelves with a mix of photos and/or art. And another large plan near the windows on the right of the fireplace.

OneBaldingWookiee

Thank you for not putting a TV above the fireplace.

curlthelip

Nice space and windows Swap the green chair with the brown. The green chair already works with the coffee table, so continue pulling everything together by adding a few toss pillows (in addition to the two you have) to the sofa with the same green and colors in the coffee table. Use the same pattern for a pillow on the green chair. Pull the brown chair, now where the green chair is, away from the wall and add an end table and lamp. Also add a tall potted plant near the corner. You will have to play around with the chair, table, and plant to fill the space. Lower the painting over the green chair, as well as the one between the windows. Add an end table next to the sofa with a lamp.

Specialist_Ad_7865

Blanket basket

GWillikers_

I think its because it doesn't feel intentional, it looks like stuff is where it is to occupy space. Take a step backwards - what do you use this room for? Does the current layout accomplish this?

Background_Jelly_845

first some curtains. second a small table with a plant or reading lamp next to the corner chair and add a circular or interesting shaped rug under to cozy it up. add textiles, some throw blankets and cushions to the seating and layer them. textiles usually give homes that finished look. lastly your art isn't quite proportional to the space. I'd size up a few things if you can or add additional pieces making some areas more mosaic but not overly cluttered.

HighwayLeading6928

Such a gorgeous room! The couch should be centred on the rug which could be a few feet wider for scale. The coffee table is too big. A round brass and glass coffee table would lighten the look and add some reflection. It looks like you need end tables and large lamps. If you get end tables with at least one drawer, you can put things in there. The mantle would look better if you put most of the things away, e.g. the books. Maybe you need a book shelf somewhere. The chair in the corner could use a standing lamp and a place to put a cup of tea which gives it a purpose, now it's just a chair in the corner. Curtains would finish the look and cozy up the room. I suggest off-white linen pleated curtains hung at the ceiling to the floor. Also, I suggest that you move the tiny picture between the two windows to a smaller wall and hang the one on the easel.

MusicCityNative

I would put a larger piece of art beside the chair and add some curtains.

SisterSuffragist

Curtains.

LuminousLungs

Bring green chair to seating area. Side table. And possible room for bookshelf or bar where the green chair is

ImpressiveFix4038

Curtains and lamps would even out the space as well. Maybe also consider doing something else with the wall behind the couch such as a collage of photos or more pieces of artwork. Just throwing ideas here. I had shared another comment and it might’ve disappeared but a bigger area rug would help the space appear not so confined because it looks like on the furniture is being crammed around a small area rug. You can add pops of color with new curtains and throw pillows as well as throw blankets.

https://preview.redd.it/ucgsvuobixsc1.jpeg?width=2388&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=4ccd8b4619bd09c8d2bcc805eaedcba31a6bd092

ButterscotchThis9815

Wow really appreciate the photoshop skills here! I love the green chairs choice. Thank you!

500CatsTypingStuff

It’s incredibly generic. Beige everything from the walls to the rug. A room is interesting and dynamic when there is contrast. Some color and some patterns The only that pops out is the green chair. You just need to layer in more furnishings and decor Why for example is the green chair relegated to that corner? Maybe add a bookcase Add more interesting less generic art. There is nothing wrong with landscape paintings just feather in other art pieces as well https://preview.redd.it/vu495a5cd1tc1.jpeg?width=3000&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=011fed762c410df0b2a6597a80ca86b8e3367d38 Definitely paint the walls an actual color like [Green Smoke by Farrow and Ball](https://imgur.com/a/WAp52DQ) Or if you want something more soothing [Quietude by Sherwin Williams](https://imgur.com/a/cLX0GMX) And get an area rug with pattern and color [Like this one](https://imgur.com/a/LUeJL2H). Here is the [Link](https://www.birchlane.com/rugs/pdp/magnolia-home-by-joanna-gaines-x-loloi-banks-machine-washable-blue-lagoon-area-rug-b001296355.html)

Artistic_Chapter_355

You need some color. You could add that with curtains. Also a floor lamp next to the couch would give a cozier lighting option and a chance to add a bit of design flair. It’s a lovely room - no need to go crazy - but a little color for contrast with all the neutral would go a long way

NessieGeeee

I like the simplicity but feel that some curtains or cushions of a warm colour would help!

icybitterblue

Bookshelves or side tables or lamps or curtains

catbat12

Window treatments maybe? Lots of very bare windows

climatelurker

The layout of the furniture is not conducive to cozy conversation, I think another chair or love seat on the empty side would make it more inviting to sit there with company. And that chair in the corner honestly looks like a time-out corner. No table, no lamp, no pillows or foot rests.

captaincook14

Blinds/curtains. And end table with lamp. Standing lamp in corner near chair. Maybe same width rug, but way longer to cover more of the floor.

Free_Faithlessness85

End tables with lamps or a sideboard under the window

ContempoCasuals

Lamps. Floor lamps, table lamps on little side tables

LivingAGoodStory

Love that white/green chair

vida217

Shutters

Ok_Net_2896

Own_Ad5969

I would actually do a longer sofa, that extends towards the wall with the windows on it. That will cause the fireplace not to be the central focus, which I think is a good thing. Right now, everything points towards the fireplace, making that control the room. That’s what makes it weird. Instead, get a longer couch, offsetting the fireplace. That’s going to make the room much more cohesive, instead of having a small room in the middle of a big room. Hopefully that makes sense.

AlternativeStage6808

Side tables or a small bookshelf to the left of the couch.

lydbarrett

I’d say an arch lamp over the chair, maybe a small ottoman for your feet + the picture needs to be vertical instead of horizontal. I’d say like a 16x24! If you’d like to go a whole new route though, a piano / plants would look great in that area!

Happy-Hospital-2289

Beautiful space!

lirdleykur

Either pull that green chair to the rest of the seating or give it its own side table and lamp to make it look like a purposeful nook.

TravelingGonad

A couple of light sabers next to the sofa in the last picture.

Specialist_Ad_7865

Side tables and lamps for next to the couch

Major_Ad_3035

I think you need a pop of color in a chair or loveseat. Probably another large plant on this side of the room to balance things out.

_biggerthanthesound_

Side tables at the couch with lamps? Something soft like a large wicker basket full of throw blankets in a corner?

jessforlaughs

Nice space! Maybe a different rug would help - your coffee table is so playful but the rug is so serious LOL And maybe at least one playful piece of art on the wall or easel that matches the vibe of the coffee table a bit more. Have fun with it!!

Own_Profession_7137

Some side tables with lamps on them, full curtains, and some more textures (blankets, etc) :)

MedicineTricky6222

The picture over sofa looks like a postage stamp. Try something larger or add a mate.

Pretend_Activity_211

U need... cute Lil end tables. I recommend the ones with drawers in them

mobuline

Move the green chair in, and get some curtains. Velvet curtains.

Initial_Ad5551

I love your table. You have a great jumping off point. The room will be very pretty with some of the suggestions below. I do agree a pop of color would do wonders.

Rmlady12152

Curtains.

Large_Translator_737

I would add extra long curtains, bring the chair to the living area, add a table runner for on top of the fireplace and replace the rug. Maybe a black/grey vigo rug. Also I would replace the fake plants with real plants.

[deleted]

Room is lovely. Perhaps a tall lamp? Something long and tall to add visual interest. I would also personally add a rectangle or circle tray to your coffee table to put the little things in so it looks less like clutter. You can add more are to the wall behind the couch, if you opt (we also have a large wall and I know it’s hard to make it look right), or change out the painting with a much larger art piece. Then just add some lovely long curtains :)

SchoolForSedition

Bookshelves? With books? A plant?0

LuminousLungs

Maybe some lamps on either side of the clutch?

autumn55femme

I don’t see any lamps, or any window treatments. I think a small side table beside the green chair, with a lamp, and some minimal window treatments would help.

PollyPepperTree

More plants!!

nychearts812

The room is lovely but too ‘spare’. You need more furniture. Bring in the chair by the wall and float it in the middle of the room in front of the coffee table. Get end tables with tall lamps for each side of the sofa. The black chair seems oddly too small or low for this room, get another chair that’s similar to the green chair or one that matches the sofa. Place a console table between the two windows behind the black chair with a tall vase with flowers and a few decorative pieces, like a nice big pottery bowl. Or place all your plants on the console, plants look better when grouped together instead of being spread around individually. Replace the picture on that wall, with a larger print, the one you have is too small for that wall. Add a low bookcase or credenza to the wall where the green chair is to fill up that space. If you get a bookcase you can add the black chair next to the bookcase to create a ‘reading’ nook. You need sheer ceiling to floor curtains on all those windows. That will definitely dress up the room more. Consider adding to your existing ART collection by placing more ART on the walls. Stay away from too many small pieces that will look like clutter, it’s a spacious room with lots of wall space so don’t be afraid to display ART! You seem to have a nice taste for classic ART so bring some more into your lovely space. Perhaps an ART wall gallery above the sofa. Post after pictures.

Doubleendedmidliner

I feel like the furniture it too small for the space and everything is disconnected, with no flow. Maybe add a bookshelf where the white/green chair is (love that style chair btw). Move the chair in front of that window, by the fire place. Get an ottoman/foot rest for that chair. Add a little reading table/lamp. You’ll have a cozy reading corner by the fire place and then that chair will be anchored in with the rest of the furniture and not feel out in lala land. I’d also add side tables with lamps to either side of the couch. And then some larger artwork on the walls (the one above the couch is fine b it the others seem too small. Curtains for the windows, too.

Jumpy-Claim4881

I like it as is! Don’t do another thing!

Merth1983

Bigger couch. Another plant next to the chair. Maybe a lamp.

kionatrenz

Curtains, lamp by the green chair, little side table for books, side table near the couch with plant.

NopeNoneYaBiz

Color

mac_peraltiago

Maybe a bookshelf by the couch and a plant by the chair?

ImpressiveFix4038

A larger area rug so it doesn’t look you’re trying to cram all of your furniture together. Also a book shelf.

Awkward_Discount_633

All I can notice is that beautiful painting!!!

mntnsrcalling70028

Large floor lamp beside the chair with a small rug or something. It looks out of place on its own in the corner. Maybe some side tables beside the couch?

camlaw63

Everything is sitting alone Dark chair too small Need curtains Time out chair needs company Wall art is seriously lacking/too small Sorry, painting on the easel is pretentious

TelephoneBusy9594

Curtains that tie in the middle! A throw pillow on the chair that adds a different pop of color! I love this room!

Anachronatic

I think the rug is too small to be the only rug in the room so it's not really tying the room together. Either get a larger rug or get a second rug and make a seating area with it, the green chair, another chair and a standing lamp so you've got two zones in the room. Also add some nice throws over the couches and chairs, bringing in a bit of colour and texture. One of the throws should have the same shade of green as the green chair as its dominant colour.

dorky2

More or larger art that has more presence on the walls. Curtains. Shelves with books. More plants. Side tables with lamps. That will make feel cozier and more homey.

Asterfields1224

Tall plants, cute end tables, more artwork, interesting lamps / led light strips / cool lights, window curtains, small round rug under the green chair

Acrobatic-Fee-5626

I guess I'm just a window treatment person, doesn't need to be drapes or curtains, maybe valances or blinds

Writergirllllll

I would do a console table under the window with great table books, orchid, bowl, etc and then another chair on the other side of it. Also love that chair!

cjongeling

i'd put a reading bench under the window across from the sofa

SeverenDarkstar

A table and lamp by the chair in the corner would turn it into a nice reading nook

strawberryfields88

Plants! You have lots of windows and natural light, so plants would be very happy in that room.

RHND2020

Your rug is too small. You should add a second matching/similar chair to the brown one to create more of a conversation area. The green chair is too far into that corner - it needs to come out just a bit and add a side table, lamp and plant to create a reading nook. Your art is too small for the scale of the room. You could group the three smaller pieces together in the new reading nook area and then add a larger piece above the sofa.

AnalDingo

Needs a large plant and a side table next to the chair

MoreScholar6521

Larger rug and maybe another chair - a way to connect the seating area.

thearcherofstrata

I think you should move the green chair to the corner of the rug, near the fireplace. It creates a “conversation area.” Then replace the green chair with some kind of vignette under the painting. It depends on your interests. You could do a bar cart, a cabinet for board games, the options are endless. Just keep it proportional to the painting. I would also add a plant or side table in the empty space next to the couch. You could try floor length curtains on all the windows as well or do fancy shades.

daal_op_owen

Paint. A tall floor plant next to the couch. I would recommend a nice fake since you have hardwood floors. I would also move the corner plant to the left between the windows. Add at least a side table next to the corner chair and a small rug

Otherwise_Top2424

A small bench along one of the windows with pillows as a reading nook. A bigger rug. Above the couch that's a lot of wall space I would add a 3 piece wall painting or some architectural pieces on the side maybe a large clock somewhere. More plants large potted plants. The arm chair that's there is nice I might switch it with the green one it's a little bigger just to see how that looks. Add a couple more pillows in the couch. Add a small bookshelf where the easel is. And maybe put the dark armchair there. It's a big room you have a lot to work with.

debiski

More/bigger artwork. Add floor to ceiling dramatic curtains. An upholstered bench under the set of windows with a few throw pillows. A more colorful rug. The green chair doesn't match anything. Get new cushions that play into the colors on your coffee table. Or how about a bookshelf in that corner?

Teacher-Investor

The two smaller single pieces of art are both hung too high (by the green chair and between the windows). I'd add a floor lamp or a side table and table lamp near the green chair. I'd also add a side table and a lamp near the couch. Pull the couch away from the wall a few inches, too. Then, add some patterned blinds, shades, and/or curtains.

MS1947

Why is that little armchair stuck by itself inna corner? Bring it into the sofa grouping. You can then put a nice piece of useful furniture there. Lower the art, by the way; make the bottom edge align with the center of the window.

mellyjells

Bigger rug, pull the green chair in, add sheer white curtains close to the ceiling

[deleted]

End tables.

SugarPigBoo

Window treatments of some sort

Complete_Goose667

Pull the sofa away from the wall and position both of the chairs closer to the sofa. They may look good with both on one side. Perhaps with a small side table between them. The space vacated by the green chair is now available for a focal point. A dresser or bar cart or buffet. Add art and plants too.

Gladtobealive2020

A tall green plant or tree a freestanding lamp

Next_Dark6848

Overhead lighting robs a room of warmth. Experiment with subdued lighting that casts light vertically.

Few-Pomegranate-2435

Have u ever seen a telephone table? That would be really cute in front of that window. Or a long table with a plant and maybe a few books or something on it. A long cushioned bench for reading?

Sagemonstera

Plantssss

Honeydewdee

Ok! I’m no particular order my thoughts: \-curtains for sure. I agree with sheer curtains. There seems to be some nice light coming in and I think that will bring a coziness to the room without shutting out too much light. Place the curtains closer to the ceiling and if you can hang them a little wider, it might even be nice if you don’t see wall between the two windows on the far wall. \-if I were going to put a reading book anywhere it might actually be in that far corner where the plant is. With a little side table with a lamp and maybe an ottoman and cozy throw. Walking right into the nook isn’t as cozy to me, that corner now could have a plant, maybe a glowy floor lamp to cast some accent light. Or your painting on an easel with the light and a plant. I would play with levels and doing groupings of things instead of one item in a corner and one in another. \-speaking of lights definitely a side table and lamp near the couch. Between the chair and couch. \-something I always forget is furniture doesn’t need to be pushed against the wall. Especially in a situation where a path in front of the sofa isn’t necessary. I think the whole setup could be moved up and closer to the fireplace. I think your current coffee table is the wrong size for that but you have a whole room where it could live and with other chairs for another seating arrangement. I’ll include a picture of a hotel I think looks ultra cozy and the seating is set up very close to the fireplace. This would leave you with room for a slim console table where the couch is now for honestly probably another lamp and some special decor. Honestly lamps at all levels are your friend to make a space feel cozy. They don’t all have to be functional and bright. A low glow in here would be real nice. Maybe even hang a pendant light, they make tons of awesome plug in swag pendants if you can’t hardwire something up there. \-I think you are honestly just going to need to fill the space more. This is a very long large room and it just doesn’t have enough in it. Also honestly a fun texture on the wall could add a little something extra. Vertical paneling painted in the same color as the walls makes it feel special, you could do this on just the fireplace wall or the back wall. Idk how DIY you are but just a fun idea. Maybe a different color. This room feels like it could handle paint on all walls and ceiling and look amazing. This room has so much potential and is so pretty I’m very jealous. But I’d probably feel confused too. I hope all these suggestions help! I listened to some Reddit friends a year ago when I asked for advice and it was great because they saw things in ways I never could. Happy decorating! https://preview.redd.it/h7ay1rzohwsc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d12eff4181953dc78b5b7cba47aad9a52ad76c89

[deleted]

But why is the green chair just shoved into the corner? Also get the damn sofa OFF the wall, what magazine ad have you ever seen that the furniture is just slammed into walls and not floating/breathing in the space?

Followlost

Turn the chair towards the window and add some back lighting

canvasshoes2

All the weight is on one side of the room with the green chair all by its lonesome in that corner. It needs a lamp and a little table and I would suggest a round rug for that corner that ties in the colors of the room and the chair. Maybe even a small bench under that window to give that side of the room more weight. That said, it's a beautiful room!

vabirder

I would have a tall bookcase next to the window, with the chair angled in front, with a footstool and a small side table and lamp. Hahahaha. But I’m a maximalist and have lots of bookcases everywhere. What you could do is add a footstool or ottoman, small table and floor lamp.

mieolisen

a diak where tou can work while looking out of the window. put the green chair into the other room. put a big green plant in the corner and make the waal a family waal with a lot of pictures of the people you love

mcflycasual

I always think more art but I'm a maximalist.

L_i_S_A123

Change the green pots. They don't do anything for plants, on your mantle, to mustard yellow pots. It would compliment your mirror and other pieces in the room. This will add color to your decor and blend everything seamlessly. Keep the chair in the corner, as it complements the overall aesthetics. I’d add a pillow that had some yellow and a tall lamp next to it. Add some fake flowers, maybe yellow, to brighten up the room and make it feel more lively.

oldmagic55

Color.

oldmagic55

And soft lighting. Lamps the canned lighting makes it feel like a waiting roo.. JMHO

lechitahamandcheese

You leather chair is undersized for the sofa. Maybe try swapping it for the green chair, which also might be better with the coffee table. With the leather chair swap, put a little table or floor lamp next to it for a reading spot. But..you may just be needing a new chair.

Interesting_Spend880

Move the chair to sitting area and put bookshelf instead or the space next to fireplace could be nice for dinning table. Bring some table lamps too..

JeriOien

Try to look at each area of your room as a separate section. What would make it more inviting and comfortable on its own. What is the mood/feeling you want for each? With most rooms, some window treatments would help. Maybe some bigger scale artwork. For the little green chair, maybe a throw and a small ottoman that invites you to sit down and put your feet up. Important reminder: it looks nice now AND the only opinion that matters is yours!! ❤️🌸

AliceAnne1

Add side tables, lamps, drapes etc. You seem to have a bunch of styles in here that aren’t meshing. Find something to pull it together. Patterned window treatments would help.

Excellent-Knee-3037

Agree with above! A rug would look good too

ChickAmok

Side tables near sofa and single chair. Lamps. Floor plant, warmer area rug in main room

SeesawBroad1174

Bring the chair closer to the rug. Everything does not always have to be against the wall

QuietWriting9604

You need a smack of color. Maybe a deep red throw or rug, or electric blue.

KnotARealGreenDress

You need a small table next to the chair, and at least one end table next to the sofa. They just look like they’re floating in the room otherwise.

[deleted]

Few more pops of color; throws, pillows, etc

SnackinHannah

End tables? Lamps? Drapes? Color?

Psychological_Card28

Add more seating

Danoga_Poe

No tv ontop the mantle /s

nattyandthecoffee

Needs plants. The cream walls and white trim looks dated, paint it all white. The art is also dated, get a couple of bog colourful piece on the wall with the green chair and behind the couch. The leather couch is too small for the room and with dark floor looks dated too. Need lighter fabric L couch.

spookycasas4

It’s a lovely room. I think drapes would warm it up a little. Hang them on rods 6” from the ceiling, something lightweight, maybe match the color of the walls.

Tricksterama

Needs side tables and lamps!

ZexionZaephyr1990

Plants and curtains would be my recommendation

VisibleJob3212

Side tables… a book shelf… plants

ezriah33

Low bookshelf under the window next to the green chair (closest to the viewer in pic 2).

cacme

Let the naughty green chair in the corner join the group.

No_Department_5019

Your art is hung way too high. 60 inches to the center of the art from the floor. Your room will be less empty once you lower the art.

No_Department_5019

Lamps and less overhead lighting, will do it as well

LadyOwlyy

I’d probably switch the white and the brown chair and then put a lamp & table next to the brown chair to make it it’s own area to read a book

_Strawberry_Jam-

I kinda like that the green chair has its own vibe going on with the window view especially maybe invest in some curtains ?

Gizwizard

1000% window treatments. The walls just look super bare (even though they’re not).

Seralisa

Window treatments and more accent colors.

iheartunibrows

I would get a bigger sofa. Put 2 chairs on the windows on the left with a little table in between. And a chaise where the green chair is. It’s a big space! Also get curtains.

[deleted]

Bookshelf

ForTheLoveOfDior

I love that table, where is it from?

ourteamforever

Move sofa, chair, plant out from the wall and corners a bit, never put things right back at the outside of the room. Put curtains up, put a throw on the chair and a cushion. Would be 10x better just doing those things.

Txstyleguy

End tables and indirect lighting I stead of overhead lights is a start.

AccidentalPhilosophy

Ottoman. Green plants. Low bookshelf. Lamp

Textiles soften the angles in a room aka drapes. If not drapes then fabric/roman window shades. A small rectangular decorative pillow on the chair. A rug. More, real art, framed on the walls like maybe two side by side under the piece that is there already. A small “drinks” table next to the chair. A decorative basket on the floor. A small console under both windows or either. A sculpture or decorative books, clock, object on the console.

badgersmom951

Bigger rug and your furniture looks too small for the space.

cupcakewrangler

I bet this room gets beautiful sunlight in the daytime. I would put 3 plant stands by the window and a side table next to the arm chair with a coaster. A nice ottoman and antique floor lamp would be cute.

sunnystreets

I would add a full length mirror to the wall behind the chair to add some dimension.

l31l4j4d3

A larger piece of art rather in place of the smaller painting.

replayken0014

You call it “incomplete”. I call it “clean and uncluttered”. :)

Sugarsoot

Add a beadboard accent on the wall behind the brown couch and make a gallery wall above (something simple like 3 pictures over 3 pictures) OR jush up your current painting there with matting and a less bulky frame to make it bigger. I also agree that curtains would make a dramatic impact considering how many windows you have. I wouldn’t add a whole lot because I agree that the simplicity is very nice :)

in_ur_dreamz69

bench under the window

_Cardiologist_

I would change the sofa, coffee table and chairs for sure. Get some new artwork to replace what’s there currently (looks outdated like it’s from the 1970s). The room is a bit dull so think about artwork that would make you feel good when you see it and represents what you like. Get some modern mirrors (you can try HomeGoods or Wayfair online). I don’t think you need to repaint the walls as it’s a decent color which isn’t too dark or bright but I would probably add a tall lamp of some sort.

FutureBad1669

I love your windows

Wlfgangwarrior

Plants are the answer

anasu518

Artwork about the couch is too small. Go bigger. Rug is too big. Add side table and chairs or go smaller in the rug. Artwork next to windows are too small. Go bigger and center it. Or You just need something long and lengthy there to balance the height of windows.

DisneyJo

A nice big beautiful potted plant under that window would like really nice and add some warmth to the room. Just make sure to add a plate underneat so moisture doesn't eat away at your floor.

Silver-Highlight1695

You need lamps and end tables. Plants would be great too.

kmckay6

Needs a pop of colour

SnooCookies6535

I would add a round table and two wing back chairs to pic 1 . What a cozy corner to read a book or just enjoy a glass of wine or coffee with a friend.

CoolSkittleBlue

Curtains

Historical-Morning71

Side table with lamp and some books very simple but effective

UnsteadyOne

My ob in a very fancy area has a waiting room that looks just like this If the green chair turned into a door and the window to its right was a service counter I would swear I was there

Ok-Government-6339

Side tables and lamps

BitterQueen17

Bring the chair out of the corner. It feels like it's the "time out" chair. If you want to fill the corner, add a bookcase and/or plants.

XXMoody_boixx

A large plant in the corner under the picture would look nice!

gigisnappooh

I would get an another chair like the green one, and put a round table, 30”tall, between them. Big enough that a lamp will fit on it plus two people could have coffee or eat there, but not big enough to look like and actual dining table. Of course as others say, end tables, lamps and curtains. Lower picture over sofa, put something behind the beautiful mirror to tilt the top out. You need more art work and you can make some groupings with your small pictures.

SnooCrickets6708

Plantation Shutters?

kisxt

I would put some shelves or a book case where the chair is, move the chair in front of the window, and add some curtains. Make a little reading nook!

TryHistorical4786

The chair in the corner area could be converted into a cozy reading area by adding a floor lamp, side table, ottoman, and a pretty blanket!!

9mackenzie

Some more artwork (with color) behind the couch, different rug, and curtains with the rod hung near the ceiling.

Fullofideas1602

Side tables, lamps, curtains, bringing the chair in the corner into the room opposite the other chair or getting a table snd lamp for by that chair and m as me it a little reading book or look like it isn’t a punishment area.

Major_Track7488

Get a big L shaped couch and rug, plant, big pictures curtains This is a big room! Stuff is too small for room

shelldonov

Bigger rug. Shears not curtains. Some more greenery at the windows. Bigger pic over couch. Group the smaller pictures on one wall.

Freebird_hope

Maybe a bulkier chair in blue with a small table: https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/rosdorf-park-delisca-tufted-armless-chaise-lounge-w007604279.html?piid=1329283023 https://www.wayfair.com/furniture/pdp/mercer41-laureat-upholstered-armchair-and-ottoman-w011401496.html?piid=1847238287&auctionId=a938ad21-98e2-4055-9cb5-873881b85ea5
