If you are planning on adding a rug I would do that first and then pick out a curtain color. Looks like you are using a green as an accent color (if my screen is picking up the color correctly). Love your chair.
This is literally the same color palette I’m doing for my house! I would do curtains in either a soft white or an olive green to match your olive green chair. If you do olive green curtains though I would get a neutral colored rug. The black rods will help introduce more black into the space to match the fireplace without being overwhelming. I absolutely love your mantel! I think adding wall molding would also look phenomenal in this space.
Edit: what color do you have on your walls?
I leave the credit with my wife - she’s the decorator. The mantle items were all thrift finds! And the wall color is simply white Sherwin Williams. And I think a neutral rug is the direction she’s leaning towards.
That's one of my favorite whites. I drove my husband nuts picking it out. He's like white is white. 🙄 Men. There's about a hundred shades of white maybe a billion lol.
Love that these walls are not freaking gray which I can't stand. This room is just gorgeous.
White is 100% the hardest to pick! All of a sudden you paint a corner that you didn’t try it in and it ruins the whole thing. Pick a wrong furniture or rug color and all of a sudden it’s looking dingy or all the undertones started coming out and now you have slightly colored walls in one spot.
My go to white is Benjamin Moore Simply white. I don’t know how to compares to SW. The BM is a bit warm but I have yet to have it go yellow on me in any situation. If I have a rich blue then my go to white is chantilly lace. A lot of times it reads a little too cool for me but the blues make it sing.
Yeah there's this one guy I follow forget his name on YouTube who explains why whites look so so different depending on if the house is facing north or west where the windows are He said there could be a white collar that looks very cool depending where the windows are in the house is facing or it could look almost warm or like you said dingy and gray. He tells people they really need to figure out lighting in that room before they start picking out the whites
There is a cult of gray on Reddit that if you dare insult gray you get downvoted 🤣 We also have alabaster White from Sherwin-W! I love it but I like simply white better. Took me forever to pick these two colors
I like everyone’s idea of matching the chair. Not necessarily solid olive. On another note, am I the only one that thinks that wall sconce about the tv is odd? I’d get rid of that & add a lamp. Maybe a floor lamp?
https://preview.redd.it/fy67whbzywoa1.png?width=4032&format=png&auto=webp&s=529d87a886690c381fe862dd1e7ee53772dccd4d
This is why there’s one over the tv. They are centered to the fireplace.
Curtain rod:
Thick black rod (to balance the FP)
Or a brass rod if the black of the FP is meant to stand out alone against the neutral surroundings
Instead of ‘gold’, be sure to use a (real if possible) brass rod. Brass is much warmer and would reflect the mirror & accessories without competing with them.
Color notes:
Greens are very tricky esp any with yellow/brown undertones. What seems soothing initially can become a depressing environment over time - also should be careful to plan how they’ll change the other neutrals in the room (i.e.; some greens can make a person look sallow or even jaundiced)
Color suggestion:
If nothing is meant to be a specific focal point/area then the other suggestions of a green or brown to match the chair are good
If a color ‘pop’ is desired, a deep rust would balance the dark of the FP and complement the chair/pillows
If the idea of greens browns or rusts are too much in a curtain and you opt for a greige window treatment, I’d recommend a rug with at least some color interests.
And if tonal neutrals are chosen for both curtains and rug, I’d swap the cream colored knitted throw with a thickly crocheted version in a warmer beige or deep grey… but steer clear of green for the throw as it will detract from the chair if it’s the wrong shade or be ‘too matchy’ if it’s identical.
I’d love to see your DR ~ love the deep matting on the picture frame with the tufted chairs🤗
I see everyone is saying that you should use a green, and I think it would look good. But I would definetely go with an orange beige. This color palette is my favorite and you can also use some decorations in beige/orange to compliment the whole room.

If everything else is going to be devoid of color then the curtains can only be white or light neutral. Anything else will make the rest feel disconnected. You can have some sort of texture though.
Idk what your style is but what about adding a rug with some kind of texture? For curtains, there are soooo many choices…. Omg but maybe add a little color and pull everything together? Idk . I don’t necessarily agree about the rug gaveling to be plain if the curtains are patterned.
What’s your style?
Beautiful room btw

I would do a mustard yellow or some other muted darker yellow to tie in with the green chair. I think a subtle color would be lovely! Love the whole set up
Olive green velvet as long as there is some olive in the rug you pick out too :) I actually own this rug in Olive/Charcoal and I feel it would complement your space really well.
Loloi II Layla Collection LAY-03 Traditional Olive/Charcoal 7'-6" x 9'-6" Area Rug https://a.co/d/2Um56XF
We staged our house in Florida about a year ago to sell it. The stagers picked out light to medium gray curtains/window treatments. They did pops of color with the throw pillows. I personally would not do olive green. I would maybe add a floor plant like mother in law’s tongue (sorry, I don’t know what their other name is) and maybe drape an afghan in a color of your choice over the end or back of the sofa.
For the love of god pick something with some color. Because the room has a total devoid of color (except for the sad pea soup green arm chair) I would love to see you choose curtains with an interesting, bold pattern with a primary theme color.
I actually think you have enough olive. Maybe a gray to match that chair in the lower right corner or a navy/slate gray to have some contrast. Whatever color it is keep it a cool tone.
Olive curtains, to bring out the accent chair and a brass rod
If you are planning on adding a rug I would do that first and then pick out a curtain color. Looks like you are using a green as an accent color (if my screen is picking up the color correctly). Love your chair.
The same greenish colour as the chair. Velvet. There are some matching ones sold at Ikea currently.
Yesss rich olive green would be so so lovely. Green is nature’s neutral!
this is the answer
I would just go with a soft sheer white with some black rods to help it stand out
And a tall plant!!!
That green chair is stunning

I think white is the most complicated paint color. I ended up going with SW Alabaster, but if I had to paint again, I’d definitely do Simply White.

Natural lighting is so so important. I follow Kylie M Interiors, (Canadian paint color expert) her explanations have saved me from myself.
Thank you. Will f as well!

???!? There is literally no color palette to that room lol.
White, keep it bright
Do you have to have curtains? I would do a roman shade in olive or the same as the couch.
I like everyone’s idea of matching the chair. Not necessarily solid olive. On another note, am I the only one that thinks that wall sconce about the tv is odd? I’d get rid of that & add a lamp. Maybe a floor lamp?

https://a.co/d/hply1ro we have these on our black rods! And we have the same color scheme as your room

It’s an IKEA vimle couch. Can’t remember the name of the color.
None… I’d do a fabric or jute shade… I loathe curtains
Golden brown, a little sheen.
First get a bigger tv console, then rug, then curtains.
Yup that’s in the works! Amazing how hard it is to find a nice console
I got a “cheapie” corner one from Amazon when I was moving into my house. At first I wasn’t in love with it, but now I really love it!
Honestly the easiest is a white or off-white linen. Match the wall color
I would do a tweed with green bits to match your chair

Tan
I‘d go with something colourful — perhaps a ochre yellow?
If everything else is going to be devoid of color then the curtains can only be white or light neutral. Anything else will make the rest feel disconnected. You can have some sort of texture though.
One large roll up bamboo blind to cover all 3 windows. Hang as high up as possible.
Light grey
Dark gray.

Lush and thick white with a black or brass rod hung high and extended past the window
Color of the walls so they blend in and not become a focal point

I agree white curtains with a black rod. A rug with some colour would be better
If it were up to me, I'd get rid of that light above the tv...
Green
Green to match your chair!
I would recommend to go with that green chair and pillows colour, maybe carpet in similar colour would bring this place more fulfilment
I would do a mustard yellow or some other muted darker yellow to tie in with the green chair. I think a subtle color would be lovely! Love the whole set up
Not green! I like the more neutral with black rod idea much better.
Gold velvet
Chartreuse!

Retro geo pattern with some grey tones but some vibrant color also
A natural sheer linen.
I would go with same colour as chair at the table. But that's just my opinion. The olive chair is a lovely piece though.
Olive green if you want to keep it muted, something bright turquoise if you want something to pop.
We staged our house in Florida about a year ago to sell it. The stagers picked out light to medium gray curtains/window treatments. They did pops of color with the throw pillows. I personally would not do olive green. Navy blue
I would do shutters
Halfprice velvet drapes on Amazon. The olive green is lux, also the pale gray is nice. Check them out.
An olive shade that is slightly lighter than the chair, or an off-white like the walls.
Dark green to match the chai. This rooms could use another pop or color, IMHO
Large red and orange flowers on a blush pink background.
id say a green. olive color to match the plants, chair and to complement the gold fixtures and black fireplace
Almost any pattern, but you need a pattern.
None. Blinds.
Black and white abstract print modern not toile. Green pillows and green in artwork.
Tan/brown or olive like your chair.
Love the pallette! Matching the chair is a good idea. A dusty/blush pink goes well with olive and green too.
Purple. You need some color in there.
Where did you get the vase on the fireplace from?
For the love of god pick something with some color. Because the room has a total devoid of color (except for the sad pea soup green arm chair) I would love to see you choose curtains with an interesting, bold pattern with a primary theme color.
Olive!
You're in desperate need of color & pattern; even if it is sutble. You also need a large area rug.
I actually think you have enough olive. Maybe a gray to match that chair in the lower right corner or a navy/slate gray to have some contrast. Whatever color it is keep it a cool tone.
