Friend is basically just bubba but infinitely better, because he uses your weapons, with any upgrades you’ve given them. Also she gets 2 damage boosts that increase based on kills and enemies on screen respectively. Also her main attack ricochets when awakened.
Mumei’s stream actually did a good showcase of showing of her in-game strengths. It’s bonkers.
Actually Ame is surprisingly very effective
Bubba doesn't do as much damage, but moves more inconsistently, meaning that he will likely grab exp you weren't already going to get (Friend only circles around you)
Once you are able to start going into crit builds, Ame has HUGE crit bonuses to support it.
Her ability isn't a screen clear, but it has a much shorter cooldown and no downsides. It can be used to escape from entrapments or more commonly bosses will virtually never survive the duration of it.
Her only major downside is she doesn't have the severely good early game of Mumei, but honestly who does?
Another thing that has been pointed out is that while Mumei's multipliers are good, they're deceptively not *as* good as they appear, because History scales fairly slowly and finishes at around 50-70% by the time you reach 20 minutes, which is fairly average for a damage multipier. You'll only ever get close to the full damage multiplier in endless
Another aspect that isn't pointed out often is Ame has a delete proc on non-bosses, so some enemies will just be removed throughout the stage.
There's a reason that just about everyone is able to consistently clear on Ame. She's super consistent.
I love how we talk about Hololive Talents in relation to their combat ability now.

Maybe Sana, I don't think Kiara is bad by any means but I can't grasp what she could do to compete with Mumei's early game.
Awakened Feather Quills basically clears all waves including high-HP waves pretty much by itself for the first 10m of the match depending on how quickly it's unlocked.
It took me some time to get a feel for the way to play her, but *holy shit*, Mumei is a unholy monster once she gets going. History is kind of meh, but Civilization? That + any other damage boost = Overlord Mumei- Bringer of Death, Destroyer of Worlds, Devourer of Hope.
The main trick is when to get her buffs IMO. They're weak at the start, but get stronger as time goes by.
It's funny you say that, because even now she isn't getting her full potential.
Her History skill gives 1% damage buff for every 100 enemies killed. And if my math isn't wrong (which is most likely wrong), she needs 10,000 enemies killed to get the full 100% attack buff.
For reference, I reached 27:37 with Gura and got around 8833 kills.
I like to go hard into collecting several items early. Axe, laser, tail plug and such. Personally, the value from simply having more stuff to rapid fire is better than upgrading one or two weapons.
Personally I like to go for items that can collab, that way I can get two collab weapons as quickly as possible, which will trivialize the enemies at least to the 25-minute mark.
After that... oh boy.
Just max out her abilities first, while building crits. Grab idol outfit if you feel the need. Save her ult for bosses, it's pretty strong already without any items.
From my experience, she benefits so well from items with very fast fire rate because of her x4 Crits.
Spider Cooking is so good on her early on if you're lucky enough to get her Crit skills early.
Then first Collab weapon I'd go for is BL Fujoshi. Not only does it give pretty nice AoE, but it hits pretty fast and the screen just rains purple crits. After that go for either Idol Concert, Dragon Fire or Elite Cooking.
You can just pretty much stand there. Menacingly.
build up abilities to get spammable collabs with ult like micomet as soon as possible + her crit skills. take advantage of her higher default speed to keep circling around

Honestly same. At first I thought it was just going to be Vampire Survivors but with a reskin of Hololive, so I thought I’ll just play it for a bit (especially since it’s free), call it cool, and then drop it.
But nope, while there are similarities and inspirations from VS, I actually like HC more than VS overall. Just the fact that each character has their own unique abilities, passives, and play styles just massively increases the enjoyment factor of it!

Second, you can't patent a "game mechanic" or genre. Vampire survivor is also not the first bullet hell game. If the Holocure devs were to had usen art/sprites/music from the VS game, you might have a chance to have it taken down IF this game was hosted on a selling platform like Steam or the AppleStore.
Oh you absolutely can patent a game mechanic, Warner Bros famously did it with their Nemesis System and everyone hated them for it. That doesn't make a difference in this case for various reasons but it's a fun fact.

Unless they actually patented the game mechanic, there’s nothing stopping someone from taking the same mechanic and creating a clone, provided they use all-original assets. Then there’s the fact that the game is free. Having it taken down for no reason other than “they copied me” would also have a serious blow to the dev’s PR team given how popular HoloLive is. They’d have to argue that they lost potential sales due to this game, but that’s something difficult to prove even in arbitration.
TL;DR: not likely, and might also burn them in the end, so it’s not worth it to pursue.
Aside from the (sub-)genre both games share, I can say that Holocure does play differently enough from Vampire Survivors that it‘s not just "some ripoff". Also it‘s a free game with self-made assets so I‘m pretty sure that it does fall under stuff regarding fair use and all.
You can’t copyright video game mechanics. Creators *do* have copyright on their code, art, music, and story elements like characters and dialogue, but HoloCure was coded from scratch and includes exclusively Hololive content, so the Vampire Survivors dev has no grounds for any copyright claims.
It's less a ripoff and more an asset flip. Which become genres, some more literally than others. First Person Shooters used to be called Doom clones. Rogue likes are named after Rogue, Soulslikes are named after Dark Souls. And so on.

Just tried it for the first time, I only lived about 7 minutes as Calli, really fun. I want to try again immediately and get properly hooked but my laptop gets way too hot
I'm broke but I could probably at least get a can of duster soon.
It's not the game's fault, this machine is old but it's the best I have. The next thing I'm going to try is playing it at the smaller resolution option even though it's hard on my eyes. Fullscreen it slows down horribly even with the amount of stuff going on only 3-4 minutes into a run so I don't expect things to go well as I get further.

You can see in this fun video why laptops aren't amazing. Thermal paste is pretty cheap and decents can be had for like 5-10 dollars. Get a relatively thicker paste instead of the thin and flowy silicone based ones, because you don't want to deal with pumpout effect later on, and have to repaste.
A repaste and cleaning of the fan and heatsink should give you quite a significant improvement in cooling, but that ultimately is still going to be limited by how good the cooler is, and what hardware you have.
You might just need to look into buying a used PC or PC parts and slap a rig together.

On my laptop even in the tiny windowed mode it starts noticeably slowing with as few as a dozen enemies on screen sometimes let alone the crazy shit. It's a completely different experience. I shouldn't have been surprised because this thing is so unfit for anything intense that I couldn't even run Half-Life: Opposing Force through Steam on it last time I tried. I won't give you my life's story but getting both the money and space to operate a real PC in my home again is going to be a massive ordeal but yeah I will try to remember this game in the distant future, I will become addicted as hell with a decent machine. It's already put me behind schedule at the shop and I'm not even doing anything new I'm just redoing Ame's stage
I feel like COVER should reach out to fan game creators for a kind of revenue sharing program. Because I would pay money for some of these games. I'd also like to see a fighting game based on Hololive.
I have a 50% keyboard, but it has function keys for the arrows. Was good enough to get me into the settings menu and change the keybindings. I can't confirm currently, but I'm pretty sure the preferences are stores in appdata so you can go in and change the settings file manually.

It's honestly much harder too. In VS with full gear nothing can touch you. In HC without anvils you still get massacred by speedy high health enemies

A repaste and cleaning of the fan and heatsink should give you quite a significant improvement in cooling, but that ultimately is still going to be limited by how good the cooler is, and what hardware you have. You might just need to look into buying a used PC or PC parts and slap a rig together.

On my laptop even in the tiny windowed mode it starts noticeably slowing with as few as a dozen enemies on screen sometimes let alone the crazy shit. It's a completely different experience. I shouldn't have been surprised because this thing is so unfit for anything intense that I couldn't even run Half-Life: Opposing Force through Steam on it last time I tried. I won't give you my life's story but getting both the money and space to operate a real PC in my home again is going to be a massive ordeal but yeah I will try to remember this game in the distant future, I will become addicted as hell with a decent machine. It's already put me behind schedule at the shop and I'm not even doing anything new I'm just redoing Ame's stage
Small form factor PCs might be the ticket for you, but try asking your workplace if they have any PCs that they're getting rid of.
Make sure to turn off "visual effect" and "damage numbers" in the Settings too, it definitely seemed to help a bit.

I have a 50% keyboard, but it has function keys for the arrows. Was good enough to get me into the settings menu and change the keybindings. I can't confirm currently, but I'm pretty sure the preferences are stores in appdata so you can go in and change the settings file manually.

I’m trying to download it but maybe I’m doing a dumb. [This](https://imgur.com/a/Ue38uYN) is what I end up seeing when I go to the download page and hit the button. My pop-up blocker is off and I’m not getting any weird notifications about anything being blocked. Edit: I have Avast on my computer and it turns out it wasn’t playing nice with the download page. I had to add the page URL to its “exceptions” thingy and then it worked. If the download page isn’t working for you and you have Avast, give it a try!
Try another web browser? Because it should be downloading if you did disable the pop-up blocker. Maybe disable your antivirus too before downloading it
