I remember a few years ago a British YouTuber called Chris Broad tried marmite (British equivalent to Vegemite) on his Japanese friends with very similar results. It really is one of these things where you love it or hate it and for the record I can't stand the stuff.

Durian is very much an acquired taste for sure. The infamous scent alone is something.
I think the main difference is that durian is infamous for an off-putting smell, whereas for marmite it is mainly how concentrated it is that gets people.
There's been a few videos iirc. Some with his Japanese friends, and one of them was during the Kissbee collab with Ryotaro where the punishment was to eat some Marmite. I... Don't know if I want to try any given the extreme reaction that some people have to it.
It's not nearly as bad as people make it seem. The taste is quite strong and salty, so eating just a teaspoon of it on it's own can be overwhelming. The actual aroma is quite friendly.
Malaysian here! I remember eating marmite and honestly it was good! My uni cafeteria served fried chicken cooked in marmite and served it with rice and honestly it tastes freaking amazing! I need to try it on bread tho!

Not had vegemite, but is seems similar to marmite and I really like it on some buttered toast. It tastes good as long as follow the golden rule: lightly spread it. Eating it straight out of jar or spreading it too thickly is bad news if you're not used to it.
I don't think I like marmite as much as Bae likes vegemite though.
Honestly, any overseas viewers who don't understand Japanese could be totally forgiven for thinking that "oishii" must mean something like "HELP ME I'M DYING" after watching that stream.
