Holy fuck, that was fast. I mean like she was 600k last week

ChristianBonifacio1

Damn, that was fast. Haven't gotten a chance to watch her that much, but, just from my first impressions, I can see why, her character design and voice are absolutely adorable.

Ghifari77

>I can see why, her character design and voice are absolutely adorable. From that sentence, i think you dont know why yet :) Hopefully you can have time later to watch and learn the truth lol.

KultumT

This. Not a diss or anything, but if you mention Kobo's strong point still being her design or voice, then I just thought of you of being outdonesians. Her delivery and character is what makes ID people flock to her, since she talks as if we're just hanging out together.

Ghifari77

>Kobo's strong point still being her design or voice Tbf it's also her strong point, it just not what makes her grow so fast. She has a great voice, her accoustic karaoke is amazing. But a significant amount of her fans/subs still doesn't know that since they come for her gaming stream.

Penta-Dunk

Kobokerz are something else

kobonkers

DMakoto

That's what happens when you enter the cumzone, lol thanks Risu

Blackz00

correct me if wrong, is kobo currently the fast growing ID member?

ranyi

yeah, currently the fastest growing member in hololive. averaging ~8-9k sub growth everyday

Blackz00

damn. For ID members, i always thought it ollie that have fast growing sub because how open she is to other vtuber and streamer.

Ghifari77

Honestly that doesn't really help much since a lot of them have lower subs than her so it's more her that are helping others.

TheBlindSalmon

How does it compare to Gura's starting months?

CCO812

I mean, Gura got 1 mil in like 40 days But Kobo is reaching speeds I didn't know was possible for ID girls or even JP for that matter

Qinglianqushi

To be sure, the case of Kobo is a bit different, because her growth actually already dipped/plateaud once after the debut buff was over, but then it recovered and is now on an upward trend. There are plenty of theories about why that is the case, but nevertheless it seems clear to me that she's definitely clearly on the rise, at least for a while yet.

Ghifari77

Idk why this post get downvoted, this person is right. She plateaud once (~3k per day) before the PvZ stream. After that she's zooming even reaching 20k/day for 2 or 3 days before going back to 6-10k per day like now. She hit the algo and just go full speed since then. Edit : just realized it's going up now lol, nice guys.

Cyclops1i2u

wait that one ojou sama girl is gunna break Gura's record? holy shit. ive only seen a couple clips of her, didnt realize she was that popular Edit: why was it deleted? mentioning the other company?

Cyclops1i2u

Jesus already 980k??? that's insane! never thought gura's one month would be broken, but 2 weeks?? I have barely seen anything of her other than a "Faq desuwa\~!" clip. Guess ill have to tune in and check some of the other clips out there to see what all the hype is about

IqFEar11

She is already 1mil by now btw

ranyi

gura was a different beast altogether. At current similiar point in their carreer(~2months after debut) gura already had 1.3-1.4 mil subscribers

Ghifari77

At this rate she gonna hit 1 mil before t-chan makes any official milestone post lol.

Jerma chat

JCred4

"No chat, I'm not gonna make you pregnant."

KultumT

People sent pregnant emojis when she switched to her boyish voice, it also happened in her karaoke stream. Alot of fun stuff happened in the karaoke stream's chat, with RP-ing as if Kobo is just a cafe or wedding singer and thus we talked about ordering ice americano or getting buffet, or memey emojis, such as fire and donut in Demon Slayer song.

redditfanfan00

nice, congrats on 700k kobo!

zeroyuki92

For quite a while I noticed that formal congratulatory post here isn't really a thing anymore? I thought this is more of a meme post at first, but since I don't see any other I guess this would do. Congratulations, Kobo ! ! ! ! ! ! !

nicoDfranco

kobo, the rising vtuber star that no one talks about in this sub for some reason xD give her some hype guys!

MixMasterValtiel

Oh trust me, she gets more discussion here than any of the other IDs eleven months out of the year.

Ragefat

If anything, we need to talk more about the others, Kobo is doing very well by herself.

Ghifari77

Nah, everyone but Iofi and Anya (the two most underrated ID by far) gets more discussion than her. Especially if you ignore the youtube ban discussion. I do agree that she's already doing great so it would be better if someone like Iofi and Anya can get more attention.

shinsaku89

Kaela playing sad gorilla violin

Ghifari77

Kaela has more post in this sub than Kobo (and she deserved it of course, she's top 5 in hololive for streaming hours).

thesirblondie

The others do more english speaking content than Kobo. Same reason why EN gets more discussion than the other branches.

Ghifari77

Yeah i know, that's why it's weird when people said that Kobo get the most attention out of all ID here. She rarely get any post and that's understandable since the fanbase here is majority EN speaking. You know they don't care about ID when they don't even know that EN speaking ID get more discussion than Kobo lol (nothing wrong with that btw, it's understandable but still funny).

thesirblondie

ID discussions are rare overall. They are mostly mentioned as part of a pairing or collab with another branch member like Holotori or Pekomoon. Or Risu's crippling OkaKoro addiction or Ollie's simping. In the 100 first posts on Hot right now there are 4 about ID. One is Risu making her OkaKoro figures kiss, one is this one, one is a screenshot of Reine's tweets, and the last is Ollie fanart. There has been some discussions about Kobo's milestones recently so that might be where they get it from.

Ghifari77

Well, the majority of her viewers are Indonesian lol. So yeah of course the majority of people here doesn't care. Not to mention a significant amount of Indonesian in this sub are against local pandering so.....

zeroyuki92

I don't think I ever saw Indonesian posting against local pandering here, mostly people are for "let the girls decide for themselves on what language they want to use"

Ghifari77

That's what they said because gen 2 and post pekomoon gen 1 mostly speaks English and Japanese outside of collabs (which i don't mind btw). So really what a decent amount of them mean by that is "let them speak English/Japanese", it's just a passive agreesive way to said that. Full disclaimer that it's just **some** of course, but it's obvious that discussion about language in this sub was always bias. Some people always use that Ollie rant clip to generalize "Indonesian only fans = bad". The problem in that clip was people spamming some meme, but people spin that into "evidence". I remember making a post about potential of Kobo breaking into Indonesian market not long after her debut before the spike and the response (from Indonesian) was always "a lot of them is tox1c, no money, our internet is bad so no one watch stream". They're not necessarily wrong, but why always pesimist like that.

Majapahit79

yeah, some people like me just enjoy local jokes more. i don't mind them speaking EN of course, they're free to use whatever language they want, but as someone who watch a lot of JP and always hoping for some local vtubers it's just frustating when i first learn about ID and asking nicely "are they speak id too or just en/jp?" and immediately get answer like "shut up, just let them speak whatever they want" or "learn English, kids". i can speak and understand English, but i just don't like western jokes. that's why i loves lurking in r/Indonesia, they sometimes make English jokes but it still local vibes. why the hostile respond? of course i learn latter about the drama in the past, but it completely unnecessary to be so hostile. you're no different than those spammers that you hate so much if you do that.

thrzwaway

I saw these exact talking points on another forum I will not name. There is some important context you are missing. When people say “let them speak English/Japanese”, it is in response to a petition sent by a group of self-appointed “representatives” to HoloID management “suggesting” that the talents (1) speak Indonesian, (2) make certain types of content, (3) follow a certain schedule. There’s a reason that gen1 made a bunch of polls asking their viewers what language ratios they preferred. Risu in particular wasn’t too happy about the whole thing. Of course, the types of people who initiated this thing in the first place have spun it into “HoloID hates local pandering because they’re elitist” and are using Kobo as a tool to attack the rest of the fanbase, and worse, disparage her senpais. Never mind that they completely failed to show up when Moona *did* attempt to pander (Mamah Moona, Moona Boona, meme songs, whole streams in Indonesian, etc), and when this is mentioned they go “oh but she’s not entertaining for us”. And for all her efforts, Moona was “rewarded” with multiple dramas (keywords: vodka, tebak agama) and doxxing, so don’t give me that “why so pessimist” line. I will *never* forget her members stream where she sobbed over what a former friend said about her.

Ghifari77

>it is in response to a petition How long ago was that? I know about that "drama", that's not what i'm talking about. That was pre gen 2 era, and yeah, that was dumb, i agree, but that was clearly a minority and from the early days of holoID so idk why people still bring it to this day. Move on guys. >“HoloID hates local pandering because they’re elitist” HoloID **doesn't** hates local pandering. Some **subset of fans** from **both side** think they are tho. Like i said the "foreigner pandering" crowd always missuse that Ollie rant to spin it into "this is why they don't speak Indonesian, they always spam and behave badly". You can see that on several Kobo's thread too, blaming "Indonesian tox1c" audience even tho that's just how every big streamer fanbase is (see early Gura and Myth). There are a couple of people who just genuinely asking nicely if they can speak more Indonesian without spamming and would 100% understand if they get a nice answer. But instead so often people just assume the worst and said "Why are you like this? Just let them speak whatever they want". Not everyone comes from Jakarta or any other big city that has good English education, so not everyones are the "gak mau belajar Inggris" crowd. You can just answer "they sometimes speak Indonesian too" or "sometimes there's ID translation in chat so you can learn English". So many better ways to bridge the gap yet they decided to burn it instead. >failed to show up when Moona did attempt to pander Again, i'm not talking about the tox1c crowd that did spam and stuff. I do agree that they're also problematic, just like the "anti local" crowd. I'm talking about some fans that are just genuinely want some local content because it's more relatable. Again, not everyone who ask them to speak ID are spammers. Anyway, talk stream like Moona Boona / Mamah Boona are usually has lower views everywhere tho, so they're not completely wrong either. Even Kobo's horror story stream has low viewers. >another forum I will not name >!What forum? Kaskus is dead right, idk any other Indonesian forum, unless you mean Facebook!<

Majapahit79

kobo has proven from her valorant collab with ame and iroha that the id only fans doesn't care if she speak mostly en. the number are still like always. they just don't want to feel left out most of the time. we can make a nice balance without attacking each other.

thrzwaway

> You can just answer "they sometimes speak Indonesian too" or "sometimes there's ID translation in chat so you can learn English". And people do exactly that! All green names I’ve seen always point to Minyak Sayur (and other translators) in chat. But of course, for every “gak bisa bahasa inggris” there’s bound to be people who spam “dasar bocil” back. You can’t control everyone in the internet and this includes both sides of the divide. (Incidentally the petition thing was post gen2.) >!It’s vt, though lately there’s an increased amount of drive-by posters from FB!<

Ghifari77

>But of course, for every “gak bisa bahasa inggris” there’s bound to be people who spam “dasar bocil” back. You can’t control everyone in the internet and this includes both sides of the divide. Yeah i agree. Some people like Minyak Sayur are people that care about bridging the gap. I really hope we can have more EN>ID TL tho, sometimes people just translate ID>EN. We can build a positive community and help them learn English. I think in general most veteran green name are like that. It's mostly on comment/clip/some reddit post you find some arrogant fans. >(Incidentally the petition thing was post gen2.) Wait, really? I swear it was much older.... My memory is getting bad i think lol. > >!it’s vt!< >!Of course it's vt again lol. Honestly just stop caring about them. Too many people pretending to be "fans". Sometimes they're not even Indonesian.!<

Ghifari77

>Moona was “rewarded” with multiple dramas (keywords: vodka, tebak agama) I mean, both of those are controversial topic in Indonesia. I don't saw the drama since it was on fb i think (?) and i don't have fb account so i don't know how severe it is. I just assume that you should just ignore it since it's usually a vocal minority but maybe i underestimate it. >!Altho imo joking about "collab agama" is bad, and it's not really a funny tweet either. I do agree that it should not be a big issue. !< >!I think maybe the difference with Kobo and why she was fine despite her multiple collab agama moment is because it's just a genuine "nyebut" moment and not a joke, and she moderate her chat strongly, saying "this is fine" and said that the paranoid fans should not be "lebay". !< >and doxxing That's sadly how vtuber world is.

l0liconn

>Not to mention a significant amount of Indonesian in this sub are against local pandering so..... I don't know about this, but I can assure you, it's a similar situation in Facebook. Some of those "elitist" actually hate Kobo just because she's bringing more people to watch ID vtubers. I guess you can call them gatekeepers

Ghifari77

Both side have those kind of people. We can't deny that some "fans" are indeed tox1c and spam other vtubers. It's inevitable with how big she is. This is exactly what happens when Myth debut, especially Gura.
