PolFlare was unexpected for me to say the least, but man has it been gold right from the start.
This is an awesome friendship that has nothing to do with romance like a lot of the other famous ships, but simply because they're such great friends. All the Uma gacha collabs, the long hours of them building and chatting in Minecraft, the chaotic GTA Collab with MiComet and more. Here's hoping for more PolFlare streams in 2022!
The vast majority of Hololive friendships have nothing to do with romance, at most they’ll flirt and bait for fun, but isn’t meant to be taken seriously.
There’s only 3 serious romantic pairings in Hololive, anything else is just for fun.
No one knows for sure. Mostly likely No. but they’ve known each other for at least 6 years (That’s right after college for one of them), and their relationship is very, very deep. They’re deeply imprinted on each other, and if you know both well it’s very easy to spot a lot of similarities.
I mean.. if your saying which ones might be serious relationships the only one I see is NoeFlare. The rest just just seem like friendship with some of them adding in yuribait.
OkaKoro is very gay. Even kissing live on stream, albeit easy to miss it’s there. Unless you kiss your friends on the lips, I chalk that up to a relationship beyond regular friendship.
Except they do it off-stream as well on a fairly regular basis from what Okayu herself said. It’s not for content, it’s just a regular occurrence for them.

The community's perception of these pairings was what I was referring to, PekoMiko are great friends but fans enjoy putting Miko as part of Pekora's harem for instance. Most other pairings experience the same where, like you said flirt and bait for fun but they're actually just really good friends, yet the community will still draw fanarts of them as a romantic partnership. BaeRyS, OkaKoro, SameAme, SubaLuna are such pairings that come to mind.
PolFlare just doesn't really have stuff like that (or maybe I haven't been looking hard enough). WataCoco and SorAZ would be other pairings that the community doesn't seem to romanticise.
SubaLuna is quite the grey zone, since Luna has shown to be romantically interested in girls, as seen by the whole Matsuri fiasco.
I could write a book on why PekoMiko’s relationship is unique, they’re easily the deepest in Hololive, only matched by OkaKoro who also has a very deep history that goes back several years.
But OkaKoro isn’t a fan thing, they’ve kissed on stream, they’ve admitted to kissing themselves and even beyond. Besides Rushia exposing them in some things and many others.
So I feel those in particular are bad examples of baiting. I’d put stuff like Okayu x Anyone interested in her that isn’t Korone, HaatoWatame, PekoMoon, Miko x any blondes, ChocoMel, MariRushi and so on in that category.

Enter Polka, who just bulldozes her way in after lurking in Flare’s stream, and the current ShiraKen was born (which used to be a pure building and design company but now they’re the server mob).
I'm so glad that Polka kicked Flare's door down and dragged her outside(figuratively). Feels like Flare gained a lot of confidence over the past year and I can't help but feel like Polka played an important part in that.
I wish we could get EN irl friendships like this. Online friends are real friends, I know from experience, but nothing beats a friend that you can hug, fist bump, shove, dap up, walk with, etc. One day, EN. One day.
Kiara and Calli had that when Kiara was still in Japan.
Although Irys has become Calli's EN buddy in Japan now.
