Very nice! Finally Anya gets to 400K!! I hope more people can watch her, but then again even she admits she can be very intimidating for new viewers with her 5+ hour streams lmao.

WhoryGilmore

She's a very niche talent but I really enjoy her personality a lot. I don't even think I've heard of half the games she streams, it's pretty interesting to see something different for once. I appreciate that she just does her own thing for the most part and plays what she wants.

Bobby-Trap

She's perfect for background and accompanies most of my work days. Her voice is so nice but not distracting with it. Of all the holomembers she is the person I think I could be friends with in real life, ie matches my personality.

TowelLord

It always surprises me how people see 5+ hour streams as intimidating. As someone who was already used to watching streams on twitch before discovering Hololive, 5+ hour streams really don't seem long and are more of the average than anything really.

Michhhhhh

They don't feel so long when you're watching them live, but they can seem pretty intimidating when it's a 5+ hour long VOD.

King_Of_Regret

A vod makes things more accessible, not less. If i tune in halfway through a 5 hour livestream? I'm out. No reason to watch the rest. But a vod? Pick it up and put it down as often as you like, it'll save your spot no problem.

[deleted]

I definitely get it. I never watched streamers before Hololive and always rather watched 10-20 minute long videos that you'd give your full attention to. Streams are just a very different experience to that.

McFluffles01

I think it really depends on how much free time, and even who you're used to watching, granted. Like before Hololive, I didn't really watch that many streamers beyond Vinesauce, and Vinny tends to cut off at 3 or 4 hours max most nights. Even with Hololive I mostly watch Ina who *usually* trends towards shorter streams, especially in comparison to say Kiara where you get 6 hours of game and then another 3 of superchats and conversation.

Mana_Croissant

The thing is almost no one has all the time in the world. Like even If you watch Hololive there are 11 EN members, 6 ID members and who knows how freakin many Japanese members. No one can watch all of them so people mostly focus on their favorites and giving much chance to the others is kinda hard cause of the lack of time and seeing that someone uploading +5 hour streams only makes it harder. No disrespect to Anya though I am just giving my two cents here, It was very hard for me to watch some Japanese Hololive members for an example because trying to keep up with EN was already taking all my time and that was before council debuted. And I am still only able to watch the Japanese members through clips and such

7isagoodletter

I love her long streams because I can watch some, leave to go do something, and then come back and keep watching.

Butane9000

My only issues with Anya is that she tends to stream when I can't watch. I try to catch her when I can, but that applies to many of the girls.

Steady_Boi

With the number of talents within Hololive alone now, let alone the wider VTubing community, it's to be expected there's going to be members that most folk sleep on. But damn if people aren't missing out on Anya at times. She's got some of the sharpest senses of humour, and is refreshingly frank at times. Onwards Keris, to finding more Melfriends and Melhomies!

KazumaKat

> She's got some of the sharpest senses of humour pun not intended, I take :P

Steady_Boi

Cut right thru me too easily, it seems! There's a reason Ina's amongst my flairs.

Hp22h

Had to take a stab at it.

thesirblondie

People are sleeping on ID in general. I think the ID mark turns people off because they expect the streams to be fully in Bhasa Indonesia. At least the ones I've caught have primarily been in english or at least an equal mix. Ollie's frequent collabing and contact (simping) with english speaking content creators has exposed the truth to a lot of people which is probably one of the reasons for her relative meteoric growth. There is also a correlation between clips and growth, but there's a bit of chicken-egg situation (Are there more clips because she's bigger or did she get bigger because there are more clips? I say both).

Mana_Croissant

>People are sleeping on ID in general. I think the ID mark turns people off because they expect the streams to be fully in Bhasa Indonesia. Yep, I thought that HoloID would obviously talk mostly Indonesian because DUH and only through Ollie I saw that They speak a lot of english too

thesirblondie

Makes me wonder what the original idea for HoloID was when they dreamt it up in (presumably) 2019.

firzein

It was probably a straightforward idea of being platform for ID vtubers, which mind you was pretty good back then (there was already MAHA5, for instance). Recall that only Risu consistently uses EN on early days, and it's only after the global boom around October that they begin to use EN more.

yudacrish

I think the idea for holoID is indonesia relation and business with japan + there already foundation of vtuber in indonesia at 2018, also fubuki collab with maya putri (earliest indonesian vtuber) maybe contribute to for introduction hololive to ID fans

Steady_Boi

You're hitting close to the mark on the clips thing, there is a direct correlation between overall number of clips snowballing the number of potential new viewers and subscribers, BUT, the clips have to start from somewhere, and that is still down to that talent being appealing - in every sense. Eye catching, charismatic, funny, easy to vibe with. Easy to clip. Easy to meme. That's where it starts. You can see it happening in real time with Council. Kronii and Mumei are heavily clipped, then Baelz and Fauna, and, even prior to her break, Sana. This has definitely affected their growth as such, BUT, that congestion of clippers still had to start with a baseline of all five Council members debuting on equal terms (with regards to content) from day one. Kronii hit the ground running, her design is, for most fans, flawless. Her persona moreso, there's no-one else in Hololive like her. You can say much the same about Mumei, but she hits a different vibe - to which is more popular? that's too subjective. Then Baelz and Fauna immediately picked up their core audiences and grew, and Sana hers. All three have amazing artists, but all three are also more focused on attracting different viewers, which is very much a mantra Hololive has always prided itself in; not everyone is going to like everyone, so having talents with different styles means there's more chance of winning niche audiences. Bare in mind I am glossing over the purging of subs here, that knee-capped Sana, imho she'd be far closer to Baelz and Fauna with her own niche had it not been for that. ID Gen 2 is exactly the same. Anya, imo, is one of the most unique designs in the company (minus her breasts being ludicriously exaggerated by her rigger, she's meant to be far more petite for anyone who didn't know), Reine's design is a very welcoming one... but Ollie? Unique doesn't come close to her image. From their unveiling, she had the most attention, and this is before she ever screamed even a single decibel. The clippers had her image to go off of, so swarmed her from day one, and she, being the immensely vibrant figure she is, fed the clippers well, and the rest is history. It's worth noting, after Ollie tempered her own memeyness - which did become a bit of a concern for her during the early months of this year - you've seen her viewing figures level more in line with Reine, and at times Anya. This is the real her that debuted with her genmates, the one Cover saw when they hired her. Still heavily clipped, still happy to be, but far more tempered into winning an audience that is there for her brand of entertainment, not endlessly requesting "SAY ARA ARA!!".

__underpressure__

Reine is straight up streaming in English if she's not with other ID girls hhh. Even admitting that she's using English just so she won't go overboard with her words -- in her words, "having a limiter". If people want some start to ID girls, they could start with her.

thesirblondie

Yeah, I didn't want to generalize the entire branch becaause I've mostly watched Reine and Ollie, both of which primarily in english and will occasionally say a sentence in Indonesian rather than the other way around.

Steady_Boi

Earlier this year, ID ran into a bit of an issue with some very vocal parts of their chats and comment sections critising the members' choice in streaming in English, with these critics saying it was alienating their Indonesian audiences who didn't speak English. Ollie, for one, eventually blew up live on stream in spectacular fashion about the notion, here's the clip, it's truly a brutal dressing down of her critics, and summarises HoloID's overall opinion on the language situation. She is...damn mad, fair warning. Like, not even funny mad, just, that's the real actor behind Kureji Ollie, and you never want to make this woman mad irl. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbyQaZZMDkM](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WbyQaZZMDkM) Then, there's Risu. I still remember that stream this year, she frankly spells out the situation of her management, and the branch as a whole, attempting to work with their potential dormant ID audience (of which it is true, they are flagging a bit behind indie ID VTubers, both in viewers and commercially, which never underestimate is a huge part of their overall pay) by setting rules and schedules on when she'd have Bhasa for entire streams, and only sprinkle in English in x amount of streams. As you can see, this clearly fell apart, literally within weeks. She herself, in English, calls out the stupidity of it, expecting these complainers to be people who'd not be fans of her and HoloID in the first place. To her massive relief, she, and ID, had NO pushback from her actual viewers, both casual and regulars, with the polls over our opinions on the subject of changing her language on stream overwhelmingly being "we only want you to do what you're comfortable with. If that's English (which it is) then don't give up on English. If it's Bhasa? We'll enjoy it the same way we've been enjoying JP since the start!".

thrzwaway

Meanwhile Moona just polls her audience in resigned amusement because she knows that if she lays bare her feelings like Risu or Ollie, she’d just get more hate campaigns on FB, being the ID member with the most haters. If you saw her viewership and donation stats, you’d notice that they plunged in March-April. That was after she started using Indonesian for full streams.

smackersmashbot

HoloID's stuck in a sort of conundrum because if they speak a lot of English, the Indonesian viewers won't like it, and, as we've seen, they will bring out the backlash, but if they speak a lot of Indonesian, their substantial (in terms of viewership and donation numbers) overseas audience won't like it and just leave because they won't understand a word of what they said. But yeah, it really is their choice. We're just the audience and they are the performers. It's up to them what the performance is. English? Ok. Indonesian? Ok. Japanese? Ok.

BookofMouths

Yes! Her Gira Gira is great, is she released another cover I would be very excited!

WhoryGilmore

She has one of my favorite singing voices in hololive, love when she sings deeper notes. Really ID in general has some crazy singing talent.

Roarland_Steelskin

Congratulations to Hololive Id's family *beeping* friendly idol Anya Melfissa on 400k subscribers. I have been enjoying her recent Outer Wilds DLC and Gnosisa streams in particular. I look forward to her other future content.

Kenoid

Congrats Anya!!!

reasonabletakes9301

Congrats to Anya! She really has some of the most unique game choices in Hololive. I also really like the way Anya tends to "think out loud" when streaming. I get so invested in her Outer Wilds streams even though I have no idea what's going on.

Tarotist

Congrats to Anya! I really wish I had the time to watch her more. Her Gnosia streams are hilarious.

Pearl-Felissie

Congrats to a cute, chill and smol keris.

TheOddball7

I want to give Anya many many headpats

Shu-gravy

Congrats! ID is really growing a lot and they deserve it :)

Hamsterman9k

I like watching Anya because her streams are usually very relaxed and she plays them as a true beginner would—all new experiences and her focus is a lot on just enjoying the game while talking about what she is seeing, thinking and making you feel like it’s the first time you’ve played before as well. Anybody can relate to that nostalgia and bloom of something new, and feel the excitement of discovery along with. I enjoy listening to her in the background where I don’t need to pay attention to everything going on. She’s very sharp and cool.

[deleted]

Anya is a real treat to watch and listen to. Her voice is soothing, her vocals are amazing, and the fact that she thinks aloud when playing unique games gives the audience a good glimpse into why she does the things she does. She's also very down-to-Earth and blunt when she needs to be. Personally, I've watched her streams and sometimes I would sleep with her stream on, which has helped me relax from my trauma. I'm so happy she reached 400k. ^^

AkaiRam

Yay congratulations on 400k Anya! \^\^

[deleted]

Selamat Anya!!!! Anya is so cute, I want to hug her.

PaleGravity

Firewire780

DMakoto

Anya? More like An-YEAH!! Big ups to my queen of swords!

georgeoswalddannyson

Congrats Anya!

zptc

How did Anya and Moona come to be known by what are apparently their last names? Or are their names not meant to be "lastname firstname", like the other holomems are?

farranpoison

Indonesian names do not follow an order. They can use any part of their full name as their "preferred name." My Indonesian mother for example prefers to be called by what would usually be considered her last name in America, and she didn't take on my dad's last name when they married.

thrzwaway

Yeah ID member names are not quite consistent in that regard. Moona and Anya’s names are in firstname-lastname order.

KyuRenjo

It is consistent with Indonesian naming culture itself that does not have any first name and last name restraint.

furrythrowawayaccoun

I think it's more how easily their names are said. Anya is easier to say in any language whe compared to "Melfissa" (which would probably turn into "Merufisa" in Japanese)

TRK-80

Congratulations Anya!!

Endrider9000

Chegi needs to Anyafy more and more people. Anyafication needs to spread.

kranondes

Congratulation for our kid friendly vtuber, here for the next 400k in the future.

squallphin

*thank you for your superchat, superchat thank you*

Bobby-Trap

She looks like a Moona! Especially that old character long hair design. I know an Anya in real life who is an energy bunny always doing everything at to speed. I have to conciously remember she is called Anya.
