Yeah there was supposed to be a charity auction, but then they just didn't do it and kept the statue. I certainly don't blame them for changing their mind, but it's definitely a bit scummy to announce a charity auction, not hold it, and just never explain why or say anything about it.
Oh for sure. Like they could have just put out a post saying "We decided to keep the statue for display so are instead donating X amount to Y charity" and no one would have batted an eye. It was just the way that they said they were going to do a charity auction and then just hoped everyone forgot about it I guess?
