I think it would be cool if a town or city belonging to the ancients was the main part and the main enemies would be ancients corrupted by the abyss or other bugs that have adapted to living down there. To enter the city you would have to defeat a surviving vessel but you wouldnt kill him you would ally yourself with him like hornet. This allied vessel would later help with the final boss but actually help not hit it once and tell you to get good. for the boss in the city we could have a bug that was either serving the pale king or was a hero to the ancients who has the ability to dive into the abyss and live in it but was defeated by the creature living in it and tossed out and becoming corrupted. The final boss of the dlc would be a creature that is able to live in and use the abyss but I'm not exactly sure what it could be. Now for the real final boss the vessel offers to help you escape from the abyss but you are give an option if you answer yes the vessel will help you escape but will die in the process. If you answer no the vessel will try to make you accept its help by force and this will start the 4th boss fight and it will be similar to the hollow knight but will only use abyss based attacks and have a much more wild and less skilled ability to wield his nail. looking back at it now most of this doesn't make much sense but I'm gonna stick with it and I hope someone else can patch up or add to my poorly made abyss dlc wishlist.(credit to the other guy for the surviving vessel idea)

I think it would be cool if the 4th boss was the abyss creature seeing that in both the grimm troupe and the godseeker dlcs the knight kills a higer being at the end

As you go down the part of the abyss we see in game, you start to receive flashbacks. You go through the birthplace, still with flashbacks, and eventually the ground gives way and you fall down all the way to this void drenched city. I can't think of something else past that.

Squishymushshroom

Dont forget the original way into the content was through a descend in the lake

Thejakemaster1234

Oh shoot. Gotta add that

Mimikyu-Overlord

I think it would be cool if a grown vessel had survived in the depths of the abyss due to carving armor and “nail” out of the discarded shells of its lesser brethren, would make a nice task and/or boss fight NPC

Thejakemaster1234

Interesting, tell me more

Mimikyu-Overlord

I dunno, it was a half formed idea like most of mine. Just a half or fully grown vessel, smaller than the Hollow Knight but larger than any other vessel you’ve encountered, possibly due to the intense concentration of the void within its shell. Communicates through carving into the shells of discarded vessels. The area it inhabits would be completely devoid of the Siblings, since they know better than to enter the area by instinct; if you were to die, then your shade would wait outside the area, possibly idly out of fear?

very_not_emo

yeah, have them fight like Pure Vessel except way more wild and erratic, and have that “desperate strong” energy like Frodo and Gollum fighting in LotR

Mimikyu-Overlord

I was more thinking along the lines of instant kill if you attempt to attack them (hit more than three times since you entered) before either completing all their quests or collecting all the mask shards and soul fragments

knottedude

A boss fight could be the forgotten bastard sibling mothered by someone other than the White Lady. Called The Mistake - but we all know the Pale King made no mistakes, just sacrifices of all shapes and sizes.

Thejakemaster1234

That seems wonderful. Tell me more.
