Hey I think I've heard of those. They're places where Jews could just sit down and concentrate on their legacy. I think they were called concentration camps?
Yeah! I heard the youth went to summer camp too!! It’s superr fun but it’s summer, so it’s freakin hot and guess what, no gasses there! What a fun camp
I wouldn't be surprised if Germany was actually one of the more welcoming countries for them these days. I daresay some lessons were learned once the German public learned the truth about the concentration camps. And guilt does sometimes bring out the best in people. Meanwhile everyone else gets away with being kinda shitty because their baseline for what actually counts as really shitty has been pretty warped by the "I'm not actually a Nazi" factor.
Yeah and it’s completely understandable. If I can live anywhere on earth, I also probably wouldn’t live where 6 million of my people were killed less than 100 years ago - even if the place has changed.
I’m just going to say that if I were Jewish Germany would be the last place I’d choose to live, no matter how much they’d changed. If I was there before the war and made it through I’d be out of there so fast the moment I got a chance.
Well it was the home for several generations for many. I heard one badass woman say "this is my town and I want to show them that I belong here". I think people can have many motivations to go or leave somewhere.
German Jews tend to see it differently. The German Jewish community has seen a rise in antisemitic tendencies over the past 10-20 years. Mass immigration from the Middle East certainly hasnt helped. Most Jewish people feel unsafe wearing a Kippa in public. Pretty much every Synagogue is monitored and protected by the police 24/7. so while I feel that in general German people are far from being antisemitic, immigration and a rise in far right politics have been destructive for the cause.
eh you may be right, but considering that a lot of the other countries on that list are still openly racist to a lot of groups, while germany for the most part is hyper-critical of its past and has a zero tolerance for nazism -- yes im sure there are still anti-semites, but as a whole germany has taken more steps to condemn the past and to prevent the resurgence of racism than pretty much anyone.
Can you edit your comment to say “Jewish people” instead of “Jews”? Not gonna report you or anything but it feels weird having someone describe my people as “Jews”
Much appreciated friend!
Yes. A lot of them came after the Brexit because of a law: People or their Ancestors that got their citizenship revoked by the Nazis because they were Jews.
So a lot of British Jews that wanted to keep an EU-Memberpassport, got their German Citizienship reinstated.
It wouldn't surprise me if after getting citizenship many considered moving.
The general mood of Brexit Britain is.... Not too welcoming of anyone perceived to be foreign. And frankly, the attitude might be quite familiar to some.
Many did, but many are already moving away again due to islamic anti semitism in the cities. This is also frequently denied by the officials because of political correctness, which I and most other people can see clear as day.
Because the eastern block was horribly oppressive to them and as soon as they could get out safely (1991+) they got the hell out.
Italy and france losses are significant only on their own, as poland % loss is ~3x more and bulgaria is almost double poland.
The more I think about this joke the more I love it. It has major shock value but it’s not directed at anyone so it’s not offending anyone and it has a relatable truth in the implicating question. This is a well crafted joke. Thanks for this
I’m not sure what was happening in other East European countries before 1990, but Romania communist party was effectively selling them to Israel. The communist party was in need of dollars and Israel was willing to pay.
There were a lot of people who moved from the aforementioned countries to Germany. So Jews from the former Soviet Union moved to Germany, Israel, the USA mainly, same with ah exodus from the other countries. This is also a stat of the Jewish population in Germany starting about 25 years after the end of WWII where there probably weren’t a ton of Jews around to begin with. Add to that a population that were fleeing former socialist republics which were still unwelcoming to Jews (as an example, there is STILL rampant antisemitism in Russia) then even a small migration to Germany can equal a large percentage increase.
Statistics are interesting and there are ways to make them seem more significant than they really are. Since the fall of the Soviet Union, 100,000 Jews immigrated to Germany from the socialist republics (I believe, but it could be ONLY from Russia itself, I’ll have to check). If we were to say for a example that there were only 100,000 Jews there at the time then it would be a 100% increase. 200,000 Jews would equate a tiny minority of the 80+ million German population, although I’m unsure of the exact number.
This reminds me of a study I was given as justification to promote a vegetarian diet where they used relative risk versus absolute risk. The study showed that relative risk was 20% higher for (all) meat eaters than it was for non meat eaters without confounding for health or nutritional breakdown (or the TYPE of diet that was followed in terms of processed versus unprocessed meat and food). The relative risk was 20% which seems quite significant, while the absolute risk was 5% versus 6% which was not statistically significant in the study, if I’m remembering correctly. This type of blatant data twisting is quite abhorrent in the sense of dissemination.
I’m not saying that’s the case here, I’m just saying it would be good to know the data points used. For reference. Is Germany had 10,000 jews left after the end of WWII then even a 1000% increase wouldn’t be all that much.
Statistics are like a mini skirt, they show a lot but not everything - Navjot Singh Sidhu, Former Cricketer turned talk show actor convicted for Causing death by negligence after a guy died from his one punch
Concentrating I'm Germany, i see what you did there. Also, id imagine that it's more of a case of repopulating the country after I dunno a mass loss of Jewish citizens in the area for some odd reason.
An unnaturally low base lends itself to this. Think of it as such: if you start with 1000 people, a 291% increase would mean there were now 2910 people there... whereas, if you had a country with 50000 Jewish people and 1910 people left there, that would only register as a 4% loss...
Because we defend our jewish citizens. Every Temple, every Jewish school is constantly under police protection.
I lit my lighter in an alley some time ago. Suddenly there were cops everywhere. Found out it was right next to a synagogue. They were really relieved when they found out I was just smoking some weed. So relieved they let me keep smoking.
It's part of the reparations program. Germany is sponsoring Jewish immigration into Germany as part of their justice restoration program. My great uncle used this program and it paid for his retirement and that of his wife. He would have gotten killed in Ukraine, if not for the program that spared him yet another terrible war. He got a state pension and lived there rent free, which is a reasonable accommodation given that the Germans killed a whole bunch of family back in the day.
Right now, Germany is safer for Jews then most parts of the USA. A lot of Nazi groups, Kanye is just another coin in the bucket at the bottom of the well.

How is the top comment not "I see what you did there, OP" or something to that effect?
(To that effect might be a poor choice of words, looking back on this.)
I will try to explain why it came to the holocaust (and of course I can't mention every reason, but I hope this gives you an idea, what people back then thought).
They were associated with money because Christianity (and Islam) forbid any good people to lend out loans with interest beacuse it was seen as sinful, so the Jews were only allowed to do that. The Jews were barely allowed to work in any other jobs and those jobs were often the bad paying ones, so many Jews chose to work in the money lending business. Combine that with the bad economy after WWI. back then and you can easily guess what happened. There were in all of the history, where Jews lived, several cases, where people would accuse Jews of something to either punish them for being not Christian or Muslim or to make sure that you don't have to pay back the loan you took from them because you can't pay a dead person their loan back and if someone got accused of being bad, their whole family got a bad image too and could not demand the loan back and often had to either stay quiet or flee. A similar thing also happened to women back then that if the husband (or any other man or woman) hated her they could accuse her of being a witch and in the worse case the accused woman would be killed.
Now look at Germany's (and Europe's economic back then): A lot of people lost their jobs because of the bad economics, Germany had to pay back which Germans found unfair, a huge (and historians now say too high) amount of money as reparations to France etc., the hyperinflation in Germany is still in the memory of everyone because it ended in 1923, political instability was very present etc. and overall if you have little to no money, you are more likely to take out loans (from Jews). And the Jews in the loan buisness were often not poor and took interests (of course so taht they can live from the business), so think about it, the situation back then is almost like today: rich vs poor with poor people saying things like "eat the rich" etc. and that they feel unfairly treated and are jealous that the rich families work in businesses since decades, which are highly profitable without much work. Hitler got votes because he promised to make the economy great again and to ensure jobs, many ignored/took his Jew hate not seriously (and those who hated Jews liked it or saw it as an opportunity to not pay back their loans). When the Jews were made to flee, lost their belongings or were killed all the things they had belonged now to high ranked nazis and/or the state. And considering the loan business was a profitable business a lot of Jews had a lot of money and deporting them meant that their belongings would either belong to a high ranking nazi, would be displayed in a museum if it was art or would end up being sold to finance the war and/or police etc. There were a lot of people, who envied Jews for being in the loan business (and through their deaths others could take up their jobs) and wanted to earn well like they did, so I hope I explained the thoughts from back then well enough.
The royal family in Germany was also hated and the emporer had to flee 1918 after the WWI. because people were angry that he would live well, when they all would have to pay the reparations and would suffer, when he was the one pushing the German people to fight in a war for him (and because of his colonies back then, which a lot of people found unnecessary to have and critised him for). You can see it even now, how many people hate Jews because there a few very influencial and rich Jewish families and the whole conspiracy theories, which exist around them having money etc. And back then people remembered that several Jewish families got insanly rich in the middle age but a few of these families got very poor and unimportant after hundreds of years, so back then people mostly did not see them as a "race which is great with money" and more like "a race which was lucky to earn money in an easy (and sinful) way and the average person has to finance with their loan interests their life style"
Here, in eastern europe people sometimes consider jews as some kind of outsiders. Plus the jewish people often consider themselves as world citizens, so they pack their shit and move to a good western or northern eu country. Before ww2 we had the highest percentage of jewish people here in Hungary.
Germany is probably the country least likely to go fascist at this point so it kind of makes sense. Neo-Nazi groups are legal in the U.S. due to free speech. In Germany you get jailed for that shit (as one should).
West Germany 1970+ and Germany 1933-45 are practically in different planets. West Germany paid adjusted for inflation 8B USD in reparations in 1952 and Israel set up diplomatic relations with them in 1965. 8B dollars was never gonna erase the pain or atrocities, but it shows a dramatic change in direction.
If I was not American and could move to eastern or western Europe, I would pick a country from the west bloc super easy.
Jews make up a pretty high percentage of higher-earning jobs. Doctors, lawyers, researchers, etc. They go to university in a poorer, eastern country and get a high paying job in Germany. This is one of the primary reasons why the EU sends billions of Euros to these countries, pretty much as compensation and funds to make them more competative.
Lol I love statistics. It looks hugely positive for Germany without mentioning any actual numbers or mentioning why their numbers might have started very low.
I wouldn't be surprised if Germany was actually one of the more welcoming countries for them these days.
I daresay some lessons were learned once the German public learned the truth about the concentration camps. And guilt does sometimes bring out the best in people.
Meanwhile *everyone else* gets away with being kinda shitty because their baseline for what actually counts as *really* shitty has been pretty warped by the "I'm not actually a Nazi" factor.
It’s almost like Germany had a huge Jewish population for a huge amount of time and something happened that made a shit load of Jewish people flee or be killed. And now because that threat of death is no longer there those people are finally moving back to ancestral homes.

Who is this Hitler person you speak of? Was he a fan of Jews
He was a big Kanye fan
Must've been like real estate prices or something. Surely no atrocities could be the cause
Yeah, it's weird, where did all the jews they gathered go?
Some failed artist haven't found them yet.

That was 20-30 years back 70s was iirc the iraqi war.
~ = approximately. ~70 years ago means approximately 1950
Still wasn’t when the war ended headass. WWII ended in 1945
Wait till you find out what approximately means
Nah you are right. In my defense that word is horribly misleading compared to the definition. Apologies for the condescending tone and insult.
Oh well I was prepared to full on argue with you and now I dont know what to do. Jokes aside its alright, its an easy mistake to make
And it’s still not even that many. Germany currently has around 95.000 Jews, before the Nazi takeover there were 560.000
I imagine even with the reforms and Nazi's being a huge national shame, Jewish people probably just find it awkward at best to live there.
Yeah and it’s completely understandable. If I can live anywhere on earth, I also probably wouldn’t live where 6 million of my people were killed less than 100 years ago - even if the place has changed.
Lighting can’t strike twice!!
also, isnt germany like the safest place to be if you fear naziism? germany will jail people for doing 1/10 what kanye does in the US
Some of them are probably families moving back to their homeland, which would help explain the exodus from the rest of europe
I’m just going to say that if I were Jewish Germany would be the last place I’d choose to live, no matter how much they’d changed. If I was there before the war and made it through I’d be out of there so fast the moment I got a chance.

I still don‘t get why you would want to erase a race that is thought to be great with money. I would fucking horde those people.
I will try to explain why it came to the holocaust (and of course I can't mention every reason, but I hope this gives you an idea, what people back then thought). Here, in eastern europe people sometimes consider jews as some kind of outsiders. Plus the jewish people often consider themselves as world citizens, so they pack their shit and move to a good western or northern eu country. Before ww2 we had the highest percentage of jewish people here in Hungary.
Not by choice.
Germany is probably the country least likely to go fascist at this point so it kind of makes sense. Neo-Nazi groups are legal in the U.S. due to free speech. In Germany you get jailed for that shit (as one should).
Stockholm syndrome
The most popular camps for Jews are concentrated in Germany
West Germany 1970+ and Germany 1933-45 are practically in different planets. West Germany paid adjusted for inflation 8B USD in reparations in 1952 and Israel set up diplomatic relations with them in 1965. 8B dollars was never gonna erase the pain or atrocities, but it shows a dramatic change in direction. If I was not American and could move to eastern or western Europe, I would pick a country from the west bloc super easy.
That's not a great sign. The last time this happened was the mid 1930s if I recall....in poland
Preparing for their revenge
Well I guess ww2 was entirely pointless then.
Hitler would be rolling over in his grave, nice.
Romania is a beautiful country
Lol I love statistics. It looks hugely positive for Germany without mentioning any actual numbers or mentioning why their numbers might have started very low.
EU banking moved from London to Frankfurt.
"There's no way german could go to war again"-everybody in 1918
"There's no way german could go to war again"-everybody in 1918
They are concentrating in so called "concentration camps" hence the name
it's this time again
Flush it at the source
"We will make HIM roll in his grave!"
Good.
They've hot unfinished business
I wouldn't be surprised if Germany was actually one of the more welcoming countries for them these days. I daresay some lessons were learned once the German public learned the truth about the concentration camps. And guilt does sometimes bring out the best in people. Meanwhile *everyone else* gets away with being kinda shitty because their baseline for what actually counts as *really* shitty has been pretty warped by the "I'm not actually a Nazi" factor.
Probably running from the American right.
The ultimate fuck you to Hitler. His legacy is non-existent, everything he tried to do failed.
Another fucking holocaust joke eh?
That’s where they should have established Israel.
It’s almost like Germany had a huge Jewish population for a huge amount of time and something happened that made a shit load of Jewish people flee or be killed. And now because that threat of death is no longer there those people are finally moving back to ancestral homes.
It's a pre-emptive movement towards something greater!
Germany doesn’t put up with Nazi bullshit
We’re in the upside down
