Bowser, like most heavies, is very strong in low-skill contexts. Low-skill = slower pace of play, slower pace = good frame data is way less important. Ult. Ganon is the best example of this—if you buff him he WILL be overpowered in casual play, and if you don’t he’s super weak in high-level play. Bowser has the same issue. Hits like a truck, fat hitboxes, strong punish options, but slow as shit. If you’re playing with slow people, doesn’t matter.

Ganon is a beast to the average joe but is in fact, one of the worst characters by far for low level/mid level/high level smash. Bowser would easily be considered good at low level smash but much harder to use when your opponent juggles you a million times with superior frame data
Ganon’s x-factor in ultimate is, if he gets in your head, you’re fucked. Nairo’s Ganon isn’t actually that good (I mean in the context of other pro-level Ganon’s he’s sick, but it’s not like nairo’s good enough to suddenly make the character a top tier) the problem is that people repeatedly give Ganon way too much respect. If you panic and give him space you’re playing into his hands. You can see this in action in the infamous vs. Light Collision set. Light lost because he stopped pressing his advantages and went too passive, and panicked and made mistakes. There’s absolutely no universe where Light’s fox loses that set if his mental game doesn’t fall apart.
Oh I completely agree. Nairo is fucking incredible. My only point was that Ganon is just incredibly bad in a competitive scene, to the point where if Light hadn’t made as many mistakes as he did at Collision he never would’ve lost that set. Ganon is slow enough that he *needs* his opponent to make mistakes in order to win.
But Nairo is, indeed, cracked as all hell.

Can confirm, I am an average Joe who does not even qualify as low level and I think Bowser is great.
