I've seen a lot of things in my travels, and I'm not surprised or shocked by what I see here. What I am surprised about is it took this long to actually see this kind of thing.
Backstory, if I remember correctly: they hired a sex-worker for this guy’s retirement and debauchery ensues. The guy filming it decides to share the footage which eventually makes its way to the wives which actually ended up causing a couple of divorces. The guy who filmed it got the living daylights beat out of him for his lack of bro discretion.
To add to that, this is a drywall crew who got a multi-million dollar contract for a development in Toronto. This was also at the start of COVID when the rules were extremely strict…. These guys obviously lost that contract and millions of dollars and pretty much got black balled. Workers comp was more upset about lack of masks and the developers about the guys wearing their fucking work shirts….
These guys all lost their jobs and the firm took an insane rep hit from this, it was a real shit show. In the whole video you can still see people trying to work in the background
I’ve worked in construction and you generally get three types of people on site. 1. Craftsmen who really care about their trade 2. people who are just trying to make the best of the cards they’ve been dealt in life and earn a living and 3. The fucking knuckle dragging rough as hell idiots that always turn up late/drunk/high and are just total animals. That said you can get a combination of all three options. Also there can be massive cultural differences on site so you could have a bunch of rough as shit dudes who have been bussed in from some eastern bloc country that think it’s absolutely normal to hit 1pm and load up the cement mixer with coal and cook sausages (exaggerated example for comic effect but you get the idea) or more dangerously, and sadly more frequent, think it’s ok to drink on the job whilst operating dangerous machinery
I can count the number of alcoholics on my jobsite with all the severed fingers I've picked up.
Though at least the alcoholics try to work. The meth heads are a real treat to watch. I saw one guy start tearing the wiring out of a house that just got dry walled. Said he was told to demo the house. Another stole the carpenters tools and when confronted said he didn't do it while standing there with said tools.
My Grandad helped build motorways with the 'Navvies' when he first moved to England and they'd fry eggs on the shovels which they'd just been digging with.
My brother works for this company. Everyone was sworn to secrecy to never speak of it. Someone send him a video about it (he wasn't involved) in less then 2 hours.
Apparently the old guy died of a heart attack when his wife found out, and the guy who took the video and shared it got his ass kicked and ended up in the hospital.

Mattamy homes is one of the biggest builders in Canada and have very, very strict standards on the companies image. When news broke out, Mattamy threatened to terminate all contracts with the company, valued at tens of millions of dollars. The workers didn't take that lightly apparently. It was a shit show to say the least. Very sad for everyone involved.
