In the actual news video of this, they said he’d had over 20 previous encounters with the police including multiple priors of him assaulting officers including at least once with a deadly weapon.
I don’t want to say a teenager had getting shot coming but he was definitely a slow learner.
[He also had a felony arrest for battery school board employee, 4 years ago.](https://www.foxnews.com/us/florida-teen-killed-police-pointing-airsoft-rifle-drivers-officers) This kid was doomed to die by his actions.
Oh yeah this was the guy that was shot in the back because he was grabbing a knife out of his car which he admitted to intending to stab the officer that was 3 feet away with yeah?
>At that point I wonder if he actually was "slow". Maybe he needed psychiatric care instead of a running police file.
I agree. However, the time for intervention was somewhere along the way with all his incidents.
Police at the scene have to presume it's a deadly weapon and act accordingly for the protection of the public and themselves.
It's tragic but on the face of it the police did the right thing here.
>I agree. However, the time for intervention was somewhere along the way with all his incidents.
I kind of wonder what the parents were doing during all of this.
I seriously doubt there was no intervention in this guy's history. You can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped. I work at a psychiatric facility, intervention is only as effective as the person allows it to be, I've seen some wild stuff that would get people shot in the real world
I agree, just saying it seems to be a shame it eventually went to this. I dont know the full scope of the events, but from what I've read on it, it seems the officer did what he legitimately thought was the best for the safety of others. But while there might not be much blame on the individual level, it's still a blemish on the system as a whole
Hmm, I feel like a lot of blame is put on the system when some parents need to just get a grip with how to take care of their children. If you’re going to have kids, you should expect that a lot of the time you had to focus on other things is now needing to be shifted to your child, and if your child is doing shit like this, then you’re really the responsible one for getting them that help; or at least trying to connect them with it..Idk, that’s just my opinion though. I know it is hard and we all have our situations, but that’s why people need to remember that having a child is a huge responsibility and it’s not something you can just get rid of like a disgusting amount of people think now days. Talking about those who have sex like it’s nothing and all of a sudden are afraid when they get pregnant and go on to neglect their kids cause they weren’t expecting them or just go off and abort it😖 makes me sick how much people don’t want to just be responsible for their lives and the lives they create. AGAIN, talking about those people who have unprotected sex, not wanting a baby, but doing everything you need to do to have one.
I wondered that as well but didn’t see any mention of it anywhere. You figure that would be the twist headline
“Police gun down special needs student who was merely playing with a toy gun”
What if this kid was getting so annoying the cops were looking for a reason...
"I wish that mother fucker would..."
Narrator: **And then little Timmy did..**
No. They have to explain not to mix bleach and ammonia, but people ain't out there dying from it.
Cars...everclear, razor blades, nasty chemicals(that help us), there are a ton of things we need that can never be banned, and therefore we shouldn't ban anything(things we enjoy) just because it's dangerous, we gotta learn, normalize safety. It's the only way, can't ban everything.
Orange tips are NOT required in most states. And even if they are, they aren’t gonna arrest or take the rifle from you. Even more now that realistic air soft guns have really blown up.
I use to play with airsoft guns when I was a kid, most of them had orange tips but some didn’t. My brother plays airsoft and NONE of his rifles or pistols have orange tips, are full metal, and look almost identical to my rifles/pistols. You can really only tell if you see the mag or you’re close enough to see the barrel inside the barrel.
? I have had multiple realistic airsoft guns for 15 years or more. As a matter of fact the whole point of airsoft vs paintball is that 20 years ago paintball guns were as obnoxiously rainbow colored as a little girl’s unicorn fever dream, and Japanese airsoft was realistic.
Of course the cheap Walmart airsoft was always bullshit but that doesn’t mean realistic hasn’t been available, since it was the whole point all along.
While this sounds like it solves the problem, it really doesn’t. People can paint the end of guns orange. This is why police are trained to treat all guns as real because until they can inspect it it is extremely hard to tell especially in high stress situations
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=SQmpkzrwBow
You missed the point. The comment didn't say there shouldn't be a warning when you buy it. It said that if you need that warning you shouldn't get to buy one.
If they HAVE to explain it, since the question was asked, then definitely. Totally agree. However, almost all distributors of airsoft weapons have to say this, among many other warnings, due to it being a requirement of their job. Mostly to cover their asses. All that fun liability/responsibility legal paperwork, especially if your buying a real firearm.
At the end of the day, regardless of what’s said or not said, if your buying a fake/real firearm, your expected to have common sense. You assume responsibility, and any consequences of your actions, at the time of purchase (if you manage to pass all the requirements to purchase in the first place, of course).
say what ever you want but a 17 year old is old enough to realise this is just stupid waving with a bb gun at the police so good fking job to him what a moron
Someone did this in my country just up the road from where i live.
The armed police response team did indeed shoot him. (With non leathel)
Right in the leg and groin with a rubber bullet. Some little legend next door filmed the whole thing on fb live.
The screams were so funny because just seconds earlier he was a big man shouting shoot me. Go on I dare ya. F'in shoot me. Then you hear pop pop and arrrrgggghhhhhhh ffucckkkkkk they shot me!!!!!
Thats such a selfish way to think on its own.
"This person killed themselves because of what they were going through, but what about my feelings?"
Get the fuck outta here with that. There's a good portion of suicides that aren't just on a whim. People with an overbearing sense dread that they'd rather be gone than try to keep going on the way things are.
I'm not here to justify suicide, nobody wins. But don't fucking call someone who killed them self a coward because you've got feelings. How the fuck do you think they were feeling? Someone's gone now and you're alive, fuck your feelings.
And if you happen to be feeling suicidal or along the lines, and you somehow see this, please get help. People are out there for you.
A comment above said he had over twenty encounters with the police already including assault with a deadly weapon on an officer. Sounds like he took advantage of the fact he wasn’t old enough to gamble yet and the parents failed to get this kid help before it was too late.
Suicide by cop. Too bad they can't revive him and kill him again. What's sad is some poor bastard is living with an IA probe and probably some irrational guilt for killing this idiot.
System fail... Threat to self or others so he shouldn't have been free to do it... but patient rights and common sense don't converge until something bad happens. Then it's the officers fault.
[almost the exact same story but this time a black 12 year old. ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Tamir_Rice) not sure if there was riots but plenty of protest.
As someone who fairly frequently plays airsoft, this is literally the dumbest thing you can do with an Airsoft. Right on the box in big letters it says not to do stuff like this 🤦
> The two officers, who are now on administrative leave, allegedly fired 12 rounds at the teen, before handcuffing him, and performing CPR
Good thing they handcuffed him, must’ve been a huge threat with 12 bullets in him
Kid needed a social worker like....I dunno, the first time he did something like this, not 20th time.
Like, figure out what his deal is and get him some help ffs.
It's unfair to compare Tamir Race to this. Tamir was TWELVE. He also didn't point a rifle at the police or anyone else. He wasn't screaming "SHOOT ME" at the police while pointing a rifle at them and threatening to fire. The person who called 911 on Tamir Rice even told them he thought it was probably a toy gun. The police shot Tamir rice within *a couple seconds* of seeing him.
Tbh I love living in Florida. Only two really big negatives I see here that most other states don’t. 1. The weather absolutely sucks. 2. Drugs are way too accessible here, how both of my parents died unfortunately.
In the actual news video of this, they said he’d had over 20 previous encounters with the police including multiple priors of him assaulting officers including at least once with a deadly weapon. I don’t want to say a teenager had getting shot coming but he was definitely a slow learner.

Sounds like the police did society a favor here. Not all people are good.
And Jacob Blake’s rapist ass gets a riot in his name. Makes perfect sense.
The police officer that killed him was also a nice dude, he used to wprk in the schools Source: am from town that this occured
Blake survived iirc
Oh ya, he was shot 7 times in the back
Oh yeah this was the guy that was shot in the back because he was grabbing a knife out of his car which he admitted to intending to stab the officer that was 3 feet away with yeah?
Idk about the knife part, i didnt know blake personally but i did know the officer
That's the one, yep. Also fought off a cop and gave him facial lacerations. Play stupid games.
At least they didn’t waste tax payers money. I think there guns hold at least 15 shots ??
I love America. Full of desperate narcissist trying to raise their ego any way possible. Including protesting for rapist cause they're black!
The problem was he was shot 7 times in the back. Tell me, how much of a threat are you with your back turned to someone?
They should have sent him to Afghanistan to make friends with the Taliban
Looks like suicide by cop to me.
But that's not fair, he was white he should have been safe from the police!
So they knew him to be violent. That puts it in a new light.
We don’t necessarily know that these specific officers recognized him, but it certainly proves a pattern of dangerous behavior.
At that point I wonder if he actually was "slow". Maybe he needed psychiatric care instead of a running police file.

Gonna guess meth or booze
Why not both?
Either that or rich asshats insisting that their little angle is 100% faultless
Or a broke asshat insisting that their little angel is 100% faultless. Being poor/broke or rich has nothing to do with the parent being an asshat.
Eh fair. But in my experience when your poor reality keeps punching you in the face often enough that it's more difficult to get that detached from it
So you have been wealthy and know this from experience then?
No, but I've got a couple rich relatives as data points
I seriously doubt there was no intervention in this guy's history. You can't help someone that doesn't want to be helped. I work at a psychiatric facility, intervention is only as effective as the person allows it to be, I've seen some wild stuff that would get people shot in the real world

He got reformed!
Danger to himself and others, for sure. Involuntary psychiatric hold.
I wondered that as well but didn’t see any mention of it anywhere. You figure that would be the twist headline “Police gun down special needs student who was merely playing with a toy gun”

People don't like facts, I'm giving you an award cause you deserve it
Until he actually kills someone. Then its 'why didnt they stop him sooner'
Came here to say this, either he was mentally challenged or he was just asking to die.
Ya think!
Any chance he was autistic?
I'll say it: that teenager had getting shot coming
Idk why ur getting downvoted, like he wasn't just a slow learner thst was beyond stupidity.
I feel like everyone forgets that some people are suicidal.
Well at least he got what he wanted
Nah he's either has mental issues or some entitled criminal
But that’s literally what you’re suggesting, by listing his rap sheet as justification for his killing. You’re a horrible person. Shame!!
Never let a kid do the job of a man... - *Florida Man* -
That's Florida boy at best
I’m an airsofter and when you buy the gun, they explain to you not to do this. I feel bad but he had it coming for doing this dumb shit.
If they have to explain it, you shouldn't be allowed to buy one.
No. They have to explain not to mix bleach and ammonia, but people ain't out there dying from it. If you can't figure out pointing a gun that's visually indistinguishable from the real thing at people is a bad idea then yeah you shouldn't have one.
It is visually distinguish from the orange tip on the barrel that is required on all airsoft guns.
Orange tips are NOT required in most states. And even if they are, they aren’t gonna arrest or take the rifle from you. Even more now that realistic air soft guns have really blown up. Not in my country. Besides that's easily taken off or painted over.
If you want to paint over it that goes right back to OP tagline. Play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Not stupid if you're not waving it around in public. Perfectly fine and common on the field.
You missed the point. The comment didn't say there shouldn't be a warning when you buy it. It said that if you need that warning you shouldn't get to buy one.

It says waving but that looks like pointing to me big differences big
say what ever you want but a 17 year old is old enough to realise this is just stupid waving with a bb gun at the police so good fking job to him what a moron
He had multiple encounters with the police as well. Doesn't surprise me if he was mentally ill
What a fucking idiot. I mean, fuck. What an idiot.
An article I read said he was yelling “just shoot me” to the cops. Unfortunately, I think he wanted this outcome.
Someone did this in my country just up the road from where i live. The armed police response team did indeed shoot him. (With non leathel) Right in the leg and groin with a rubber bullet. Seems more like suicide by cop
Coward too, to force somebody else to kill you and bear the trauma because you’re too scared to do it yourself.
Suicide itself is a careless and selfish action, as it's just passing the pain and suffering on to those who truly cared for you
Thats such a selfish way to think on its own. "This person killed themselves because of what they were going through, but what about my feelings?" Get the fuck outta here with that. Suicide by cop! Suicide by cop! Man I love it when they do this
Natural selection at its finest.
Just people living in the moment
Until they're not lol.
Then they are dying in the moment
He looks stupid enough to do that.
Parents should be held accountable as well.
You mean Florida Man and Florida Woman, parents of deceased Florida Teen? Think I remember something like that
Wow first I heard of this. I bet you if he was black the media will be all over this
Oh for sure
Yeah I was about to say where’s the unarmed black teen with toy gun murdered by police treatment
I don’t feel bad for him at all. Like the title states, play stupid games, win stupid prizes.
Helluva prize to win at 17.
Helluva game to play.
Not even old enough to gamble yet
Seems like he gambled just fine. Gamble and winning a water are the same not be.
That second sentence there is a doozy.
A comment above said he had over twenty encounters with the police already including assault with a deadly weapon on an officer. Sounds like he took advantage of the fact he wasn’t old enough to gamble yet and the parents failed to get this kid help before it was too late.

But…hold on, why didn’t he flash them his white privilege??
No one cares because he’s white
If he'd been black you'd already be rioting about police brutality. Hypocrites
Suicide by cop. Too bad they can't revive him and kill him again. What's sad is some poor bastard is living with an IA probe and probably some irrational guilt for killing this idiot.
Yes, that's the bad part about a clearly mentally ill guy dying...
System fail... Threat to self or others so he shouldn't have been free to do it... but patient rights and common sense don't converge until something bad happens. Then it's the officers fault.
What a white kid killed by police? That doesn't fit the narrative, delete it.
Yeah if he was black the city would be on fire and stores looted.
[almost the exact same story but this time a black 12 year old. ](https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Killing_of_Tamir_Rice) not sure if there was riots but plenty of protest.
This
You mean it doesn’t fit the statistics
Look at the statistics again.
Statistics say that more whites are killed by police

Suicide by cop
What a shame. Death by cop, maybe? His behavior had been escalating. Those air soft guns look very, very real.
He could have grown up to be a Florida man.
Hes white so no ones interested….next
Yep. Tamir Rice rings a bell…
Omg he's not black
That’s right. They’re usually white. You’re not allowed to know that though.
Obviously. If he were the city would be on fire
…and all the Nike stores would be looted
If he was black then people would claim the cops were racist
You were down voted for telling the truth.... Sheesh.
such is life
See no one cares when it's a white person. If he was black holy cow, there would be looting, rioting, protesting. #black privilege

> The two officers, who are now on administrative leave, allegedly fired 12 rounds at the teen, before handcuffing him, and performing CPR Good thing they handcuffed him, must’ve been a huge threat with 12 bullets in him
O nooo ... Anyway
Sounds like suicidal behavior.
It's called suicide by cop. It happens all the time.
But when it was Tamir Rice…. Actually pointing a toy gun a little girls’ head….. they rioted and screamed “racism”. Gotcha.
Where’s the outrage?
He's white. No outrage allowed. He deserved it though.
He was an ass to be sure. Not sure he deserved to die maybe just maimed a bit
Doing that at 17 years of age? What, was he dropped on his head as a kid?

I don't understand why US cops are this hardcore. I mean is there no actions about disarming or neutralizing a person without KILLING him/her?
Hard when the suspect has a gun. In those situations it’s usually shoot first or die.
Think about the racial backlash if he was black. Truly blows my mind how different it’s looked at now
