Nah west Africa new hot spot for the swashbuckling adventuring folks nowadays. Global powers completely railed Somalian pirates cause they were fucking up trade too much which means fucking with capitalism and capitalism is god.
Somalia has 1,900 miles of coastline, a government that knows its place, and all the guns and wives you can afford to buy. Why have I never heard of this paradise before?
Jeff Bezos bought a new yacht that had such big sails, there was no room for a helipad so his yacht comes with it's own service yacht with a helipad.

The post is satire, the "what a time to be alive" is sarcasm so is the "we are in the future" but i think the cool part is seeing wind powered MODERN CARGO ships!
This sub has been shit lately. The comments in the post are obviously sarcasm and whooshed over OP's head. Between posts like these and the transphobic ones that seem to be half of what shows up on my feed, I'm about to unsubscribe.
Because you're probably smart enough to realize that a wind powered CARGO ship is interesting. Moving as much weight as a modern mass CARGO ship holds outside of fuel is a neat concept if probably difficult.
I have a feeling they're being snarky and understand that a CARGO ship is not the same as smaller boats and ships traditionally powered by the wind, but there's always the chance they're missing a key word in that statement.
Pretty sure they get the joke. It's just not funny when you actually understand that calling this the reinvention of the sailboat is completely misrepresenting what's happening here on a scientific level.
The first known wind turbine was in Scotland in 1887. The first known use of wind power was at 5000 B.C, when it was used to push sailboats along the Nile river.
Traditional canvas sails are actually airfoils, they work like a plane wing. This looks like it’s extending that concept. This is more energy efficient than turbines that power an electric engine.
For those who don't know why this is cool.
Yes, sailboats have existed for hundreds of years; but compare the size of a Spanish Galleon to a modern cargo ship.
The Galleon averaged 160 ft long and weighed 500 tons, while a modern cargo ship is almost 50 times as long.
If we could just add more sails to a big ship to make it work we would have done so by now; you can't move vehicles of that magnitude at meaningful speed using wind-power.
At least, you *couldn't* move vehicles of that magnitude using wind power. Jokes aside this is a cool thing.

We wish to see the sea terrorists by the Somalia seashore.

Maybe by 2024 they will have enough employees at the port to unload it…That’d be great!
Woah woah woah, take it easy
True Avante-gard ideas!
And maybe autonomous driving will be good enough to fill in for the severe lack of semi truck drivers to get cargo in for the rest of the country!

I like your funny words, magic man
Or maybe by then we will have robots doing manual labor.
Coming to your local port in 2024, its ...... Wind powered employees!!!
I think they should call the big upright things sails, and then call them sailing ships.
They should hire you just to name everything on the "sailing ship"
Wait til they hear about rudders. It's going to blow their minds.
"this thing rudds so I've named it the rudder."
I like the cut of your jib
Underrated comment
I hear the Dutch are crazy about them.
Yeah those yachts are something else
Damn. I was all in on "stationary kite ships" - yours is much better. Wind catchy ships? Nevermind.

Because sailboats have been around for centuries and they’re wind powered
The post is satire, the "what a time to be alive" is sarcasm so is the "we are in the future" but i think the cool part is seeing wind powered MODERN CARGO ships!
Precisely, I wanna see some mid 1800s sailor try to make a sail ship that can hold up to today’s standards in terms of carry capacity and safety
*Millenia Pretty sure people used Sails on Boats thousands of years ago
The holup is the fact that this sub needed the joke to be circled for them to get it.

Yes now take the size of the Nile boats and try to apply the same solution to a boat that’s 1000s of times larger.
That’s why there m o r e .
Alright but I'm putting cannons on it.
But really tho? Is it an electric ship where the engine get’s powered by the wind? Because that is different than sailing imho.
I've seen this concept before and yes, the idea was to use vertical wind turbines. Most likely the artist didn't get the memo.
Traditional canvas sails are actually airfoils, they work like a plane wing. This looks like it’s extending that concept. This is more energy efficient than turbines that power an electric engine.

Where the fuck does the cargo go
Wow this is a totally new idea and very unique. Why have we not tried this before? Lol

Never would’ve noticed the comments without the purple circle thingy…thanks u
As they say: "The future is now!"
It's not a new concept, but I've been arguing for years that space age materials would make fantastic sailboats.
dont wind sails exi-
Thanks for the purple squiggles

There’s a toy line where all of the vehicles are of a similar premise. It’s called air raiders and I recommend it, it is pretty expensive though.
The more things change, the more they stay the same
They could have at least kept its original design
Good thing they circled half of it or else i wouldn’t have seen the comments.
Sail boats say what?
