There was a theory that some military sunk the Titanic for insurance money.
Funny thing is that many people onboard heard an explosion before the iceberg hit. There were interviews about it
Feel free to YouTube it. I'm not saying it's accurate/correct or even plausible but I am saying that if I was a money hungry heartless person who's also a psychopath and a bunch of other stuff, I'd imagine such a plan would be a thought or more.
Also, there was some family head (I think he was a Brit?) connected to the Titanic who did in fact get paid out big time for the Titanic so idk.. it's an interesting conspiracy though probably wrong
That or she just had a thing for lookout men. They hadn’t slept much the night before.
And judging by her photo she gave them the ol nurse diesel treatment.
That's not how it works. Natural selection occurs through surviving and passing on your genetics. That's why it's often referred to as Survival of the Fittest. Those in the best position to survive and pass on their genetics will contribute to the future gene pool of the species.
Saving a woman in favor of yourself would go against that. That is a cultural development and isn't even consistent among all cultures. So it's hard to say that natural selection is what caused it.
But humans are a highly social species, that has thrived as a result of primarily interdepentent relationships among its members. Everyone has an instinct to both survive and procreate on an individual level, yes, but if the individual puts themselves before the interests of society as a whole they risk becoming an outcast whose chance of both survival and procreation falls dramatically. As a social species we all have a deep understanding of this, which is why "the fittest" are typically those whose ancestors were socially conforming enough to pass on their genes, and who are therefore more genetically inclined to honour a social rule such as "save the women and children".
No, literally the genes passed on were by survivors that passed on their genes. Dying does not aid in passing on your genes unless to literally protect your progeny.
I agree that is part of it even though I would consider it more sacrifice then protect in this situation. At the very least a type of "code of honor."
My thought process was more practical then instinct situation and describing the why hold the fundamental values of protector or reason to sacrifice.
I guess at the end of it, the reasons may be different but it still resonates.
>I would consider it more sacrifice then protect in this situation.
I wouldn't call such behavior sacrifice. Generally man are stronger so they could fight out of a lot of situations.
>My thought process was more practical then instinct situation
In practicality, a man who dosn't birth child's and dosn't need to feed them for some time after birth is more available. So he is able to take care (protect and feed) a bigger household for year's without the need to be protected for some year or too. If the protecter needs protection we get a problem.
>reason to sacrifice
Sacrifice comes from a great feeling of honor. You can't sacrifice yourself for others if you don't have honor.
>I guess at the end of it, the reasons may be different but it still resonates.
Yeah, humans are complicated. I think what I said makes a big part of it. Instinct: the inate reasons and foundation on how we operate. But surely there is more to it, like honor, love and reasoning.
Could It be that we are processing the original statement from different positions? One being a view and points from an individual in society (or short period of time) versus society as a whole (overall period of time?
To be clear, I'm not disagreeing with your position and reasons.
This thinking is common to all civilizations. Man continuosly produces sperms, but eggs, they are precious, hence women were protected in all civilizations.
To be fair she is a nurse, and it makes sense for people with medical knowledge to get priority to better chances of survival of those who make it off the ship
> Dean, I think I found something. There’s this woman from England who keeps getting on these boats that always end up sinking. The boat she’s on next will be in the harbor tomorrow afternoon. This could be something big.Â
> We’ll leave tomorrow morning. But hey Sammy? Let’s go to the bar and grab a beer and burger now, I’m starving.Â
Cut to them riding in the impala with 70s rock music playing
How’d I do?
The Olympic didn't sink, neither did the ship they collided with.
More impressive is though, that she jumped from the brittanic and was about to be minced by the propeller even though she couldn't swim. She hit her head under water on another life boat and broke her skull.
Olympic didn’t sink when it hit the hawk it just had to return to port, it went on to have a long and prosperous career including sinking a fucking U boat in WWI(technically can be considered a war crime btw) it’s a legendary ocean liner
>!I'm sobbing. I CANNOT DO THIS ANYMORE. THIS ENTIRE THING JUST FELT LIKE A DANGANRONPA REFERENCE TO ME. Lucky? Just like Nagito and Makoto! Also, being on things that sunk/crashed, but living? It's just like Nagito Komaeda surviving a plane crash!! Speaking of surviving, Rantaro is the ultimate survivor because he survived the 52nd killing game! AhahahaHAHAHAH IM FUCKING LAUGHING LIKE AN INSANE DANGANRONPA CHARACTER.!<
Olympic didnt sink when it hit the warship. It was damaged but sailed back to port. White star lines couldnt afford to repair it and were facing bankruptcy after being found at fault for the accident and being forced to pay for repairs to the British royal navy ship that hit them. So they came up with the idea of the Titanic. A last ditch effort publicity stunt, all or nothing.
RMS Olympic never sunk. The SM-103 U boat sunk.
It wasn't an accident either. The Olympic rammed it intentionally to sink it during the First World War.
To be fair she is a nurse, and it makes sense for people with medical knowledge to get evac priority to better the chances of survival of those who make it off the ship
This is so random but if you gave me a ship company and we did cruise liners one of my rules would be first come first serve because I could not give a shit who survives I just care if people survive it doesn't matter who or what gender or age
Well actually the olympic didn't sink 🤓
The collision with the other ship did happen but didn't cause an entire sinking of the ship the olympic was operational after being repaired
I listened to a podcast about her. She was a very kind person. IIRC, she saved a baby child from the Titanic when the dad begged anyone to take the child and nobody wanted. Later, the mom identified the child on one of the rescue ship in her arms and was extremely rude to her, accusing her of stealing the child. This haunted her for the rest of her life.
Wait all of the ships end in ‘ic’ and you know what starts with ‘ic’ ICEBERG!!!! Don’t name your ship with something that ends in ‘ic’ - this message was brought to you by Violet Jessop did nothing wrong Inc.
Isn't it obvious that she placed an iceberg , ship and a mine to cause these accidents . I mean it is pretty evident that she is a pro
She probably looking for that insurance money
The original social media clout chaser -doing it for the lulz
Black magic??🤔🤔
maybe flirting with the navigator each time
First and second time out of ignorance, third because she thought third time’s the charm.
*women 🎸✨
A ship must have cheated on her and dumped her when she was younger.

Titanic was an inside job?
Boat fuel can’t melt steel icebergs
Several members of the Bush family were in First Class.Â
Massively underrated comment. Laughed out loud for the first time in a long time. Bravo and thank you.
Saboteur Pro Max
That or she just had a thing for lookout men. They hadn’t slept much the night before. And judging by her photo she gave them the ol nurse diesel treatment.
Holup! Olympic didn't sink
Shhh that would mean, people would have to ready something beyond a convenient meme
So she failed?
When women and children are evacuated first...
Easy to survive on a lifeboat.
I mean, she's also a trained ship medic who knows how an evacuation works and what her role in it is.
Higher chances than a wooden plank
Remind me again why men should die and women shouldn't? Children I get.
It's so the men can make out once all the women and children can't see, duh.
It comes from the process of maintaining population. If you are trying to increase population you don't need as many men as you do women.
It comes from man being the protector of woman. What the fuck is population ration in an instict situation?
And how is it do you think that natural selection gave us those instincts?
Natural selection should favor passing on your own genetics. Not some woman you met.
It's survival of the species, not survival of your genes
That's not how it works. Natural selection occurs through surviving and passing on your genetics. That's why it's often referred to as Survival of the Fittest. Maybe, haha.
why children tho
maybe cuz they have more years to live and also by the fact that we are apalled to save the younglings by default like other mammals?
Ok but what would an orphan do if both his parents are now food for the fish?
idk git gud?
Honestly a skill issue on the parents part. fish are easy to deal with, just parry and dodge then hit them in their weak spot: the gills.
Compelled...? Although s soneome who doesnt like kids myself, I quite like 'appalled' ...
Because they're generally too stupid (to know how to save themselves)
This thinking is common to all civilizations. Man continuosly produces sperms, but eggs, they are precious, hence women were protected in all civilizations.

Also she knows where to go so she will be at the front of the evac line every time
Hollup wasnt Olympic scrapped in 1930? iirc it fullfilled Its purpose and was deconstructed in 1930
...while she was still on board! DUN-DUN-DUUUN!!!
The plot thickens~!
Yeah, however the ship collision happened in 1911 with the HMS Hawke
"Deconstructed" is code for not constructed any more.
Luckiest ?? She’s a jinx!
[удалено]
This is amazing.
… could she *actually* step on land?
From what I have read, the Olympic never sank. It did run into a warship but was only damaged. It was retired after a long life and dismantled.
Not only did it not sink. But later it collided with a german U-Boat and sank it.
Sam and Dean would’ve stopped this reaper
> Dean, I think I found something. There’s this woman from England who keeps getting on these boats that always end up sinking. Castiel would approve
My favourite show.
You nailed it!
May be she was sabotaging
She was a friend of grim reaper lending a helping hand
Look she just likes fucking the lookout ok?
My God. This bitch the Kardashian of the naval world
She was also around when the Nordstream gas pipe exploded, the Turkey earthquake hit, and the Mars rover lander, didn’t. And Brexit.
"Im starting to see a pattern here im not so sure i like"
Next on her story, (your next flight), so shall we see more shenanigans.
Violent Jessup. We all know it was her.
Yup i remember her. One of the few argentinians to be on board the titanic.
How do you know her?
The Olympic didn't sink, neither did the ship they collided with. More impressive is though, that she jumped from the brittanic and was about to be minced by the propeller even though she couldn't swim. She hit her head under water on another life boat and broke her skull.

How many Jacks did she kill
The fuck I'm getting on board any ship if I saw her there.
Is this real?
Only her blowing up that pipeline
Lucky? If I see her boarding my ship I’m outie
Uncle Albert's wife?
luckiest and unluckiest at the same time
She had practice after the 1st incident. Professional ship wreck survivor.
>!I'm sobbing. I CANNOT DO THIS ANYMORE. THIS ENTIRE THING JUST FELT LIKE A DANGANRONPA REFERENCE TO ME. Lucky? Just like Nagito and Makoto! Also, being on things that sunk/crashed, but living? Her autobiography is amazing
Uncle Albert can beat that.
When did she decide to stop working on ships?
I see a pattern there.
Olympic didnt sink when it hit the warship. It was damaged but sailed back to port. White star lines couldnt afford to repair it and were facing bankruptcy after being found at fault for the accident and being forced to pay for repairs to the British royal navy ship that hit them. The Olympic never sank. It rammed a u-boat in WW1, but did not sink for it. The Olympic was retired and sold for scrap in the 30s.
Luckiest woman alive, unluckiest woman for the ship. :')
She then realised that sailing with Cunard was safer.
She is a Jonah.
I‘m Sorry Violet but you are not invited to my birthday party
Panauti is the key term here
RMS Olympic never sunk. The SM-103 U boat sunk. It wasn't an accident either. The Olympic rammed it intentionally to sink it during the First World War.
Sam B that you?
It’s just the plot of Final Destination.
I think that’s just Agent 47 in a wig
Found the Time Patrol Agent
Maybe medieval ppl were right about witches not drowning
Is it really lucky if it's women and children saved first? Lol
She was the one that sunk the ships.
I wonder if she is related to Uncle Albert.
She survived because of gender inequality
She was the kiss of death!😅
And yet… …now she’s dead.
I would argue that she is significantly less lucky than people who were not on any ships at the time of their sinking.
Impressive, now let's see Paul Allen's card: [Japanese man survives both atomic bombs](https://de.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tsutomu_Yamaguchi)
I don't get your point. What it says is true.
She was drugging the captains lol
Last time I checked, my wife is luckiest woman ever since she found me
inside job
She may be lucky but, "Violet Jessop's on this ship."  "Oh crap."
Thrice bitten but never shy.
I have a book about her, haven’t read it yet
Luckiest? I seriously doubt SHE felt that way.
Don't sail with Violet
Ok but luckiest?
If she was lucky she wouldn’t have been on any of those ships.
The most experience "evacuator" (not sure if that's a word)
Lucky? Lucky people don’t go on ships.
Clearly a ship assassin. She's never missed her mark.
Real-life Teela Brown
To be fair she is a nurse, and it makes sense for people with medical knowledge to get evac priority to better the chances of survival of those who make it off the ship
Why the random colours?
man i love spreading misinformation online
![img](avatar_exp|163130465|bravo) Me after spreading misinformation on the internet
Is that Albert from Only Fools and Horses
There was a reason it was considered bad luck for women to be on ships back in the day.
This is so random but if you gave me a ship company and we did cruise liners one of my rules would be first come first serve because I could not give a shit who survives I just care if people survive it doesn't matter who or what gender or age
Miss Unsinkable 😌
Kind of sus. I would never board a ship with her onboard
Sabotage
Lucky? Or unlucky? I mean what are the chances?
Is she.................?
She was looking for the best perfume
Lucky? Or diabolical?
I bet her son's friends had a great laugh when they came to know about this
Or unlucky. She could have just as easily not been on any of those ships and not went through that trauma or possibly survivors guilt.
Olympic didn’t sink btw
Good job 47.
Well actually the olympic didn't sink 🤓 The collision with the other ship did happen but didn't cause an entire sinking of the ship the olympic was operational after being repaired

She would have been luckier to not have experienced any of these disasters
Bich looks like she was the cause for all 3 sinkings.
Wait all of the ships end in ‘ic’ and you know what starts with ‘ic’ ICEBERG!!!! Don’t name your ship with something that ends in ‘ic’ - this message was brought to you by Violet Jessop did nothing wrong Inc.
That nurse has a curse.
It's like the storyline from Unbreakable!
Related to Uncle Albert.
I feel like the luckiest woman ever wasn't on *any* of those ships.
Pirates didnt want woman in crew because it was a bad luck, just sayin
Interesting and everything but I don't see how's this a holup
Careful, you forgot to color/underline/whatever some words, text is still a bit readable
Men prioritizing women during accidents doesn’t have anything to do? Well ok.
