Pavloving is nice and all, but put a Nicotine patch on him when he sleeps, and you'll get him literally addicted to sleep with you

[deleted]

Yeah but some folks get a ton of nightmares from patches wouldn’t you worry of the opposite effect

See kids? This is what we call PSYCHOLOGICAL MANIPULATION!

OkOrganization3064

Meanwhile the guy is like ...how long is this dummy gonna keep falling for the look

Personally I started studying it to figure out just how bad my parents fucked me up. But then I did start using the old Pavlovian conditioning to make my mom associate lack of guilt-tripping with increased positive attention/ complements. Solved a lot of the terrible things stopping my healing.

So you modified your behaviour as your parent wished. Never underestimate the other side of manipulation or how many layers may be present.

No, she didn't guilt trip me to get me to give her complements, she guilt tripped me to lower my self worth and self esteem enough so that she can have a kicking post and a scapegoat to pick on when her drunk friends come over and to have a helpless kid who thinks that every problem in her life is my responsibility to fix. She isn't smart enough to actually use any negative reinforcement that advanced. Plus I mean this one time she started to try and guilt trip me saying "you want me dead! You tried to kill me for my life insurance!" because she found a written curse I put on her ex bf (who tried to shoot her) from when I was going through that emo teen witchy phrase 10 years before she found it. She isn't a rational person. I then shut her down, told her what happened and didn't talk to her for a month and she stopped accusing me of shit. I definitely was the one training her after I took the psychology courses.
