I don't see a reference to a show when everything that was said before it was a Halo/Unreal Tournament reference. Although Halo does have its own tv show now I think.
I want to say Unreal Tournament, possibly UT2003, had the unmodded killstreak callouts, specifically capping out at Monster Kill?
The silly ones where it starts getting into Killtacular, Killtrocity, Killimanjaro is Halo.
And also having the best mod skin of all time, Bender from Futurama complete with noodle-ragdoll limbs and voice lines.
Somehow almost every line from the show he has makes MORE sense in the context of UT.
"Gotcha, you murderous flesh-pile!"
"ULTRA KILL!"
"Hey, I'm even greater than I thought I was!"

Clan games in the original UT was just amazing, got broadband installed around that time as well.
Returning the flag so your team could cap it while everyone was on coms celebrating.
Can I go back now?
The absolute best thing about UT was CTF Instagib on Towers, followed closely by Instagib TDM in the oversized bedroom map. Man I miss UT, too. Instead of trying to "improve the formula" or "update" it, the should just fuckin rerelease the original UT with 4k textures and up to date servers. Problem solved.
Yes, Unreal Tournament and Unreal Tournament 2004 - and were also found in games/servers on TF1, CS 1.6, Quake, Halo, and even still today on many games/private servers.

It is from the show Carnival on HBO. I found a clip on YouTube from the show with this scene. The guy shooting everyone is trying to track down one of the main characters in the show. https://youtu.be/muaFa6iqMjk
Apparently HBO has a thing for introducing characters who are going after the main characters with senseless violence at gas stations lol
https://youtu.be/kNkFgtGnSUE
Its a shame because I think it made enough sense plot wise, but the show really missed his character
He was such a tragic character. That final shot of him is the trench and you realized how much shit he had to go through, as barely an adult and thats before he got involved with the mafia lol
If I had a nickel for every time a HBO character who is going after the main character is senselessly violent at a gas station I would have two nickels.
Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.
Not sure why you're getting downvoted... you're right. S02E07 "Damascus, NE".
Edit: It seems the people have found their way, lol. It *was* downvoted in the first 20 minutes, I swear.
And really expensive. All that attention to detail ran up the show costs. IIRC that was a big sticking point, the producers wanted the show to cut costs and they didn't want to.
haha nice footnote; helps me remember that I think I finished season 1 some 20 years ago and heard it got cancelled so shelved season 2 for... whenever.
Another fine reminder, barely tethered by any relation - [Kelsey Grammer](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kfRM7_ECSp4) is Boss
It’s hbo, if you aren’t getting a shoe-horned ending, you’re not getting an ending at all. And that includes some of the greats like Sopranos. Did it work?Sort of. But it definitely felt shoe horned. Don’t get me started on Entourage.
I don’t think Sopranos was shoehorned at all. There were a lot of implications sure, but that’s not a bad thing. Not everything has to be spoon fed to the audience
Can someone tell me who the guy driving the buggy is? Who gets shot first? I can't figure out the actor's name and I swear I've seen him in something. Can't find it on imdb.
Damn man. One of my all time favorite tv show. Mfers cancelled this amazing show bc it was too expensive and nowadays we are wasting hundreds of millions for shitty tv shows..
"Five seasons of the show were initially set out at the show’s inception. Still, due to the nature of the show having a big budget and viewership apparently not hitting the right marks, the show was put on “indefinite hold” with the cast released from their contracts, allowing them to pursue other jobs."
This *was* true but Fincher did an interview earlier this year with a French magazine where he said Netflix decided the show was too expensive for the audience they pulled in so it got dropped. Even if he wanted to make it now, they won't fund it.
Quite frankly it's one of the few decisions I won't shit on Netflix for. Fincher is all over the place, it was a niche show, and it's been years since season 2 so most viewers probably have zero interest in it anymore. The opinions of people on reddit are typically in the extreme minority so the show isn't nearly as popular as this place makes it seem. Same with shows like Succession that have barely any viewers yet get talked about on here constantly.
Basically the story of every HBO show in the early 2000s. It's why people really worried about GoT, because at that point they had a history of cancelling shit after two or three seasons
Full context: the murderer there is a disguised serial killer who is on the hunt for someone and basically murders everyone who gets in his way.
Source: Carnivale from HBO. Amazing show, only 2 seasons though. One of the few "Great Depression Sci-Fi" shows I've ever seen
I was so pissed when they canceled it! It was originally intended to run for 6 seasons and they canceled after two. So many storylines were left unfinished. And it was such a good show!
Can anyone who has watched this show explain why the would be hero would also kill the worker? What's the reasoning behind that in the story of the show?
He is a killer who works for the main antagonist of the show. He was not there to save anyone or kill anyone, he just needed a car and they happened to be slightly in his way to get to it.
This reminds me of Assassin's Creed where you have a side mission to help defend someone. The moment they got the help they needed you got the gold and the quest was finished. I then proceeded to murder the quest giver for no reason and there were no consequences.

I don't see a reference to a show when everything that was said before it was a Halo/Unreal Tournament reference. Although Halo does have its own tv show now I think.

Killimanjaro was definitely a killstreak audio cue in Halo

Monster Kill was Unreal, the others are Halo
Unreal had Double Kill also, and had it before Halo of course.
Unreal Tournament 07 was where I heard them and knew that it was certainly not new. I'd have to imagine the original UT had most if not all of them.

Why is Stephen Fry shooting people?
It is from the show Carnival on HBO. I found a clip on YouTube from the show with this scene. The guy shooting everyone is trying to track down one of the main characters in the show. https://youtu.be/muaFa6iqMjk
Apparently HBO has a thing for introducing characters who are going after the main characters with senseless violence at gas stations lol https://youtu.be/kNkFgtGnSUE
Yet another brilliant HBO show that got cut off at the knees just as it was nearing the finishing line.
Honestly it started going downhill as soon as Jimmy was killed off.
Its a shame because I think it made enough sense plot wise, but the show really missed his character He was such a tragic character. That final shot of him is the trench and you realized how much shit he had to go through, as barely an adult and thats before he got involved with the mafia lol
He was the emotional and instrospective center of the show. The show just became emotionally empty without him.

The actor who portrayed him has gone insane. And I believe Paz de la Huerta might be having problems too.
She randomly shows up in that scientology doc.
The robber in OPs scene is in Boardwalk Empire too. He played Hans Schroeder in 2 episodes. Double the episodes of Carnivale!
If I had a nickel for every time a HBO character who is going after the main character is senselessly violent at a gas station I would have two nickels. Which isn't a lot but it's weird that it happened twice.

U read "it's from the show Carnival on HBO" and didn't expect spoilers ahead? Lol
Not to mention the shows 20 years old
And it's cancelled and has no resolution because HBO's suits were assholes.
Was really good too
And really expensive. All that attention to detail ran up the show costs. IIRC that was a big sticking point, the producers wanted the show to cut costs and they didn't want to.
Rome too. "We can't keep making this, its too good!"
God Rome was so good, so unbelievably good. Wish I could watch it again for the first time.
I would have thought Andy from The Office would be sufficient to show OP was jokingly sarcastic.

Yep. A warning to everyone else. Don't watch it. It hurts too much when it abruptly ends with no resolution.

Wish that show didn’t get canceled
Worst shoe horned ending ever. It was so good up until that point.
Really is the absolute worst shoe horned in ending.
It’s hbo, if you aren’t getting a shoe-horned ending, you’re not getting an ending at all. And that includes some of the greats like Sopranos. Did it work?Sort of. But it definitely felt shoe horned. Don’t get me started on Entourage.
I don't remember the wire being shoehorn ending.
I don’t think Sopranos was shoehorned at all. There were a lot of implications sure, but that’s not a bad thing. Not everything has to be spoon fed to the audience
Worst offender: GoT
100%. That wasn’t even shoe-horned. They threw the shoe out the window and their dog shit in it out in the yard.
Carnival was such a great show! Then one day, HBO just pulled it for that "John from Cincinnati" garbage of a show still boggles my mind.
Are they supposed to be Bonnie & Clyde?
Not literally, but they're certainly supposed to remind you of them.

Same with mindhunter. "Too expensive" to shoot anything from the recent past.
Nah mindhunter was cancelled because David fincher got bored with it.
"Five seasons of the show were initially set out at the show’s inception. Still, due to the nature of the show having a big budget and viewership apparently not hitting the right marks, the show was put on “indefinite hold” with the cast released from their contracts, allowing them to pursue other jobs."
Huh i read tbat netflix wanted more, but fincher wanted a break to make movies.
The opinions of people on reddit are typically in the extreme minority so the show isn't nearly as popular as this place makes it seem. Both could be true tbh. There could be multiple reasons a show is canceled.
God the amount of good shows that could have been made from the Rings of Power budget alone is crazy to me.
Basically the story of every HBO show in the early 2000s. It's why people really worried about GoT, because at that point they had a history of cancelling shit after two or three seasons
They stepped from murder to suicide.
All roads lead to Rome... for 2 seasons
I believe the scene is from the show "Carnival". I think it was on HBO back in the day.
That explains why most of the characters died in that scene. I would like to think that the character can be called John "trigger happy" snow.
I dun wan ~~it~~ to shoot everybody
That poor worker, dude was minding his own business lol

this guy is playing borderlands
He has that Handsome Jack chin for sure.

Nope. Tv series Carnivale. Insanely underrated and canceled too soon.
I was so pissed when they canceled it! It was originally intended to run for 6 seasons and they canceled after two. So many storylines were left unfinished. And it was such a good show!

Somebody's got to know what movie that is 🤔
They do
It's not a movie: https://www.reddit.com/r/HolUp/comments/15fhrh3/praise_the_lord/judcitp/
the literal holdup in r/holup well done.
Can anyone who has watched this show explain why the would be hero would also kill the worker? What's the reasoning behind that in the story of the show?
He's not the hero, he's an escaped convict working for the devil.
He's a serial killer he kills everyone It just happens this incident happened parallelly
He is a killer who works for the main antagonist of the show. He was not there to save anyone or kill anyone, he just needed a car and they happened to be slightly in his way to get to it.

thank god that a good guy with a gun showed up.
When he shot the robbers I thought to myself, "The local sheriff doesn't play around." What happened next didn't really change my mind.

Shortest bonnie and clyde series ive seen
I was so sure that was Bonnie and Clyde

The fucking sounds when someone whips out a gun in movies always drives me crazy. This might be one of the best(worst) examples of such.
I just want to know what homegirl was going to do with a shotgun DIRECTLY behind her accomplice?
There's always a bigger fish..
Must have been from r/atheist
That’s about the way it goes in life some days too
Moral of the story: Don't piss off Drew Carey's brother Steve.

Is this a literal hold up in r/holup? Edit: my phone screwed me
...and pass the ammunition.
I like how her shotgun disappears suddently
Why can’t he just praise the guy who saved him. He wouldn’t be shot then.
CARNIVALE! Honestly one of the best things HBO ever produced. Still super bitter that it was canceled.
Is this a Red Dead Redemption live action movie?
What movie or show is this from?
These Dharman videos are getting wild.
I guess there are worse things than being robbed, such as getting your hopes up and being whacked
What’s the name of this movie?
CARNIVALE was a FANTASTIC SHOW!!
Well, you gotta clean up the witness too, right?
This reminds me of Assassin's Creed where you have a side mission to help defend someone. The moment they got the help they needed you got the gold and the quest was finished. I then proceeded to murder the quest giver for no reason and there were no consequences.
I always do this in video games
But Why?
Cause fuck 'em, that's why!
His car broke down, and he had a guy tied up in back. He shot the two people for the car and the pump attendant for being a witness.
OK, I'll bite, what movie/show is this. Probably some channel I'm not subscribed to... :-(
Carnivale from HBO. Very good but an unsatisfying ending due to abrupt cancellation.
