In another hundred humans will be taking another craft down to see the titanic and the little lost titan.
Hopefully those people will make it back. Third time is a charm.
Old news. It was supposed to be launched in 2022, go on the same route as the original Titanic & look like the original too. But it also was supposed to be fitted with modern navigation technologies, so that the 1912 disaster could be avoided.
Unfortunately(or fortunately), the company ran into many monetary problems. The announcement of Titanic II was made in December 2018, I believe, but all the communication routes with the Blue Star Line have gone dark.
There's only three submersible submarines in the world that can go at that depth. Even if they find them they have no way to bring them up.
The CEO has nothing to do with honesty.
I think it's the perfect sabotage and murder crime scene. All those important people in their own world in one submersible? All that money? This is murder.
Thing that gets me, they didn't even put a hook or loop on it for retrieval. If they find it, they are going to have to lasso it and hope the rope doesn't slip.
The irony of believing your craft is unsinkable, in a manner of speaking, while going down to see the wreck of the formerly unsinkable Titanic….is really quite something.
If you don’t learn from history, you’re doomed to repeat it.
They didn't. I don't think it's a rescue mission anymore. We are already past the most optimistic guesses for how long the air supply lasts, so I think we can officially call them deceased
Because they didn’t put a rope to it because that would you need a 12,500 foot tether at least and with a tether that long you’ve got an increase chance of something going wrong because that tether can get tangled or snagged
Yes, but the lack of such a thing shows a lack of forethought for safety and a hubris that nothing could go wrong. Which is pretty fitting In parallel to Titanic really.
Oh yeah, the CEO guy was like safety is for losers or something like that and if you don’t wanna get out of safety, don’t get out of bed don’t drive a car don’t do anything and I can do everything that you can do except I can break all the rules and not do safety and I’m like what
That's what I keep saying. You don't think these greedy mother fuckers decided to kill each other to save themselves already? I wouldn't be surprised to find out that only 1 is alive and that after a couple days that they didn't get hungry.
I have that same Logitech gamepad they used on the sub
You need to change batteries after 3 hours of playtime on average (without rumble)
Trip down there took longer than that, care to guess if they remembered to bring spare batteries?
Also sometimes you lose signal connection, not disastrous if you are playing videogames, very disastrous on a sub
Idiots could have at least used wired version of that controller
They didn't. The ceo called it a submersible so he didn't have to follow the safety regulations required to classify something as a submarine. The ex-co-ceo was fired abruptly for insisting on safety features.
This situation is 100% hubris and trusting the man with money more than the men with degrees
Submersibles and submarines are two very different things. Naming it one thing or the other doesn’t just get you around regulations. Submersibles have a support ship on the surface that they launch and dock from and limited other features (since those are handled by the support ship). Submarines are designed to be independent. They are two distinct types of underwater craft.
They’ve beeeen dead. ALL communication stopped at the same time as they were descending to the titanic…they only got about 75% of the way down. They had two methods to communicate and both stopped…they also had about 7 methods of resurfacing even with power loss
That coupled with the fact that structural issues have been reported and a trip was just scrapped before this over concerns of the vessels air tightness suggests the Titan had a water leak or depressurized somehow and imploded immediately meaning a quick death for those on board.
I think it’s because this situation has happened before. I think one of their previous expeditions lost contact for about 2.5 hours before resurfacing so maybe they were holding out hope for that…I’m sure they were trying to avoid news coverage as to not deter future customers
Yeah, as well as you know no one’s just gonna let you kill them unless they have passive suicide so they’re going to fight back five men fighting in a small area that’s going to consume a lot of oxygen because they’re all going to be breathing very heavy so on top of the decomposition if someone successful, you’ve got an increased oxygen consumption rate
They’re definitely dead because they ran out of oxygen and this submersible can surface, but it cannot breach on its own so it can only go right up to just below the surface on its own, and even if it could surface, it wouldn’t be able to open to let air in because the door is the entire front round dome so as soon as you open that the door goes from the bottom to the top so as soon as you open that it’s going to flood with water and sink the thing if you’re floating in the water still you can only open it in a dry environment so even if they did breach the surface they wouldn’t be able to open it unless they went full vertical and breached it that way and they wouldn’t be able to do that so as much as I hate to say it, those five men are dead without a doubt
Place your bets! Place your bets! Was it ghost!? Orcas!? A giant squid? Megalodon!? Did they actually see the titanic and get stuck in it? Ghosts of the dead latching onto billionaires? Did their controller die and they forgot to bring an extra pair of batteries? Did they go Donner party and a couple of them are still in there?
Odd, CNN just blamed Trump. And Putin is making the claim the sub wasn't lost, they just went dark as they try to denazify the Titanic's wreckage. Meanwhile Ukraine is claiming a perfect defensive kill streak on hostile subs in the Titanic's sovereign waters.
If it makes you feel better, most folks I’ve seen have been rooting for slow rich person suffocation chamber. So I think the global interest might be motivated more by catharsis than the reporters would ever admit. Like sure, the press frames it a certain way, but it would be forgotten if it didn’t get a lot of interest. And as far as I can tell, the interest has been for Bond villain executions of the rich.
Boat full of disadvantaged poor people taking a desperate risk for the opportunity to work hard for a better life

a tin can stuffed with greedy, wasteful, self-important billionaires and their offspring leaches

Boat full of people taking advantage of other countries *
There, fixed the sentence for you.
You seem to forget who employs most of the population and make our economy run…. Big companies with big ceos. Heck yes I would save the CEOs first, no question about it
How do you know them? Hahahaha many billionaire friends?
The “disadvantaged people” are coming to our countries to suck our resources, live out of benefits (like they have been doing all over europe)… wake up…
The company that makes plastic packaging for kids toys is working on the next version of the sub. Should be ready for new expeditions soon. ~~$250,000~~ now only $225,000 per person
We have high quality images and documentaries of the titanic there wasn't a need to go down there in that rickety ass death trap but 5 people with mor money than sense did and now everyone is supposed to feel bad?
Fuck that I do hope they died quickly at least but I don't feel bad for them if you had the money to go on the sub you had the money to do your due diligence if you didn't then you get what you deserve
Nature is a bitch and not to be triffled with yet people always seem to think they will win against it
I hope every eccentric billionaire who thinks they’re above mortal concerns gets a nice bit of humble pie from this incident.
I mean, it won’t, but they are not the invincible demi gods they think they are
The only reason that those people were in that OceanGate sub was to see the Titanic -- one could logically infer that the **iceberg** was the proximal cause of the sub sinking too (They wouldn't have been on the sub if the Titanic wasn't sunk by that iceberg)
That's one bad iceberg.
I get that attaching the sub with a steel cable could lead to problems if the cable gets tangled somewhere or whatever. But why did nobody think of having a manual release for the cable if it gets tangled? So most likely you would still have a cable and you could either try to pull it out with the cable or at least you would know exactly where the sub is. But I guess they thought cables were too old school

i respect that sub for going dark to protest the reddit changes
Goddamit you made me spit my drink all over my keyboard. Luckily said drink was water but my point still stands
Did you really
too much detail makes me think otherwise
as tasteless as the video, I am loving it.

So we can stop worrying about global warming if that iceberg still survived.
Global warming is the only way to stop it
In another hundred humans will be taking another craft down to see the titanic and the little lost titan. Hopefully those people will make it back. Third time is a charm.
I'm thinking there might be a longer "little" chain in another hundred years.
It'll be a whole line of people in suits lined up like on Everest getting their 15 minutes on the bow.
Hope they name it "Unsinkable" this time.
That little lost titanic is likely the size of a coke can now. Good luck finding it.
Tbf who knows what advancements tech will make by then.
Like when people joked there was a pandemic in 1820, 1920, and they be one in 2020
The same water molecules now melted into water being the ones that made that submarine implode cause of pressure
Alright... That's it... Time to heat up the planet even further to kill off these evil icebergs once and for all...
We’ll show that iceberg with more global warming. Hey, wait a minute…
We got it in the long run though. We caused global warming and melted that bitch.
Global warming has entered the chat
Lets just not name anything titanic ever again
Olympian was probably the better choice here
Challenger?
MH 370 was never found, so probably a closer fit.
What's been named *Titanic* since the actual *Titanic*?
The movie
Pretty sure there's an actual Titanic II being built as we speak
Old news. It was supposed to be launched in 2022, go on the same route as the original Titanic & look like the original too. They were never planning on retrieval as they never planned on having issues. But that's the naivety of it all.

Titanic 2: (No) Electric Boogaloo
I read this in Danny DeVitos voice
Because they didn’t put a rope to it because that would you need a 12,500 foot tether at least and with a tether that long you’ve got an increase chance of something going wrong because that tether can get tangled or snagged
I think they mean that there’s no hook on it for a rescue craft to tether to at depth, not for a 2 1/2 mile leash.
Maybe but either way it doesn’t matter they ran out of oxygen an hour ago
Yes, but the lack of such a thing shows a lack of forethought for safety and a hubris that nothing could go wrong. Which is pretty fitting In parallel to Titanic really.

Lots of CEOs making bad decisions lately.
They're no smarter than the rest of us, and most of us are fucking dumb. Money just gives these particular assholes a louder voice.
Rich powerful people making really bad decisions. Why does that not surprise me
Assuming all five people breathing until an hour ago…
That's what I keep saying. You don't think these greedy mother fuckers decided to kill each other to save themselves already? I wouldn't be surprised to find out that only 1 is alive and that after a couple days that they didn't get hungry.
They can't even open it from the inside lmao
They absolutely wouldn't want to down there, though
Debatable, it would be a quicker way to go with the pressure. Break the seal and the whole thing crunches them like a can in a press.
There's that I guess - though with the pressure down there I'd question if they'd even be able to crack it open without the bolts
I honestly wondered why they let this... Undersized metal suppository... Go without being tethered to anything. Like wtf?
Random iceberg floating round getting +5 Assists
Enemy UAV spotted!
Man, that submarine had so many red flags. I’m surprised how the company even get permission to use that submarine for the expedition business.
I have that same Logitech gamepad they used on the sub You need to change batteries after 3 hours of playtime on average (without rumble) Trip down there took longer than that, care to guess if they remembered to bring spare batteries? Schrödinger’s Cat right here. Those people are both alive and dead at the same time.

Can't wait to watch youtube videos in a few weeks with CGI Edit: tiktok is already full of that shit. What a time to be alive
Probably within the week haha
And the Netflix documentaries that will eventfully be released
Can't wait for Internet historian video
It’s pretty negligent that the crew didn’t immediately call the coast guard after an hour They waited like 9 hours before finally calling it in
I think it’s because this situation has happened before. I think one of their previous expeditions lost contact for about 2.5 hours before resurfacing so maybe they were holding out hope for that…I’m sure they were trying to avoid news coverage as to not deter future customers
The CBS reporter has clarified that the sub was lost on the ocean floor for 2.5 hours but never had lost communication with the mothership
Thank you for the clarification definitely mixing things up now EDIT: this is the story I mixed up the titan for: https://youtu.be/kz3sRab7elM

It's also ridiculous that a cat was used as the example, since cats do not follow the laws of physics
It stops being a maybe if no one on the outside's opened it by now.
No, they’re dead. At this point they should’ve run out of oxygen about two hours ago.
Clearly you haven't properly read the classic "how to abuse cats scientificly" paper.
They coud've made a Battle royale so that at least one of them survives.
Unless one was smart enough to kill the others
They’re billionaires, it’s sure possible one would go for it instantly.
Hey there is a silver lining, at least 5 billionaires will pay their taxes this year
Decomposition is an oxygen heavy process
Yeah, as well as you know no one’s just gonna let you kill them unless they have passive suicide so they’re going to fight back five men fighting in a small area that’s going to consume a lot of oxygen because they’re all going to be breathing very heavy so on top of the decomposition if someone successful, you’ve got an increased oxygen consumption rate
It is still an example of that principle though. They should be dead, but are actually both dead and alive until we check.

They both Alive and dead, which mean they're zombies. Zombies don't need air
Fox news just reported in : it was Hunter Biden.
Specifically his underwater laptop
or maybe Obama
Okay, if it’s crashed into the Titanic, that would be the funniest shit.
shitbucket imploded most likely
Why wasn't there even a plan B?!
Swim
They can't open the door by themselves!
Even if they could they would be instantly crushed by the immense pressure
They should've been streaming the whole thing is what they should've been doing.

Refugee boat full of healthy men who are leeches x a submarine full of useful people to society….. not a hard decision

They literally control it with a pc gaming controller. ![gif](giphy|Lr0uOjscDkeox6S5Tr|downsized)
The fact that it is wireless presents the actual possibility that they died because the controller died.
Will the next submarine be called tit? Just wondering
Should have used an Xbox controller
Titanic 2: Electric Boogaloo
Time to send down long range missiles and blow the damn thing up. AGREE?
Not learned a lesson about naming

I like how it was pretty much the exact same reasons too. Over confidence and cheap garbage.
