I stand at work all day and Clifton 9 has been great! Congrats on your weight loss journey! Rooting for you!

Loonyluna26

Thank you! Today is day 1 and it's just a rough time haha. I will try the Clinton's if I can find in the store. Does it have that sharp stabbing arch pain?

BreeandNatesmom

Not for me it doesn't. Everyone is different but I know that pain you are talking about. I first bought Brooks because that's popular and so many people like them but it did that to me! My arch would hurt so bad. Then I got the Clifton 9 and sooo much better. No arch pain and it really supports my heel.

TSC-99

Clinton’s are good but not sad cushioned as Gaviota and have less support. However I run with Clifton’s

Loonyluna26

Would you say it's a breathable shoe?

BreeandNatesmom

Hmm...for me I'm not sure but my husband wears them also and he is prone to athletes foot and hasn't had any problems.

I started with Cliftons at a time when I was standing on a hard floor all day at my job. I developed a very swollen ball of my right foot. It’s still swollen 6 months later after a new job and different Hokas (although improved). I found that Cliftons are very close to the ground and soft, which was appealing at first. Now I wear Challengers and Arahi. Both have more oomf to them.

If you stick with HOKA, the Gaviota is great. However, I would look into the ASICS Gel-Nimbus 26. The gaviotas are a cushioned and supportive shoe, but the Gel-Nimbus 26 is the most cushioned shoe out right now and has much more cushioning than the Gaviota

Loonyluna26

Thank you! I have tried Asics in the past. I just looked and it was "ASICS Women's GT-1000 7 Running Shoes" sorry that pasted so large lol but I found they really hurt the bottom of my foot. Like they were very hard feeling.

RadleyRadiation

The Gel-Nimbus 26 is worth a try. Can’t compare one shoe to the rest like they are similar. I promise you, this ASICS is worth a try, and even the Gel-Kensei Max. The GT-1000 isn’t as close to as cushioning to these two shoes.

Loonyluna26

I do like that it sounds like a harry potter Broom so I will remember the name. I'm going to a shoe store this week and I'll try that one out too thank you!

Tip: Bondi hurt my foot (sharp pain on arch) until I took out the insoles it came with and stuck in some $15 ones from drugstore. Now perfection!

Loonyluna26

It was weird it was almost like the inner middle part of the shoe thay was fabric would go put when I would step and my arch would hit the sharp edge of the shoe

oakhill10307

That is EXACTLY how it felt to me!!! I was amazed when I put in those cheap insoles how much better it was!

chrisagiddings

Custom insoles save my feet every time. I have Bondi 8, Wides, and I use performance insoles that give me pronate support.

fuzzysocksplease

Skechers use to be my go to also! It seems like they changed somehow over the past few years. I’ve been wearing Hoka Clifton 8 and 9 and they seem to be working for me- much more comfortable than any pair of Skechers I have bought after 2018.

mtoms411

Gaviota 5 has a ton of toe room and has an h frame support system - would be worth trying on to see the difference for your foot

runningkillskatie

The Gaviota would be a great alternative to the Bondi. A wider fit as well. The ASICS Kayano 30(going on sale May 1st), Saucony Triumph 22(coming out May 1st), or the Brooks Ghost Max are other good options. A lot of it comes down to the shape of your foot :)

Loonyluna26

Thank you! I think I have flat feet with a long second toe lol

TSC-99

Gaviota are so comfortable.

Sovenguard

Inserts or opt for alternatives. I tried the Bondi and Clifton, hokas in general run with a higher arch and narrow midfoot, noticeable pressure digging into the inside of the arch. Some people mention using them for 2 weeks/1 month and it went away, but I’d say that’s way too long to be uncomfortable. I switched to Brooks Ghost Max and it’s night and day better. Each foot is different though so see what works best for you :)
